Abstract

Private Ken Lukowiak was a member of the Second Battalion Parachute Regiment (2 PARA) of the British Army deployed to the Falkland Islands for the 1982 British-Argentine conflict. The veteran’s creative drive motivated him into writing down his memories, and writing helped him overcome his war traumas. This paper seeks to explore Lukowiak’s memoir as a work offering an alternative retelling of the Falklands War, based on a deep emotional framework, in contrast to the narrative of heroism favoured by mass media. His personal account emphasizes the psychological distress and detachment of a soldier in opposition to the supposedly exemplary and outstanding behaviour of troops as often portrayed in mainstream journalism during and after the armed conflict.

Abstract

Much of the South African poet Breyten Breytenbach's work has been concerned with borders. In this article I examine borders and creolization in three important poems from Nine landscapes of our time bequeathed to a beloved (Nege landskappe bemaak aan 'n beminde, 1993), Paper flower (Papierblom, 2002) and The wind-catcher (Die windvanger, 2007). The link between creolization and boundaries is the poet's conception of identity and freedom. As is often the case the boundaries of the self are questioned as the poet permutates the central concepts. Crossing boundaries entails entering into dialogue not only with the self but also with the mother tongue itself and with a variety of other artists and writers. In other words, in Breytenbach's work an abrogation and appropriation of the own tradition ("erfgoed") as well as of material from others, other places and other traditions occur. In these three case studies in particular it is clear how the poet stretches and deforms boundaries as part of his poetic project to concretize a dynamic freedom.

Race dos años apareció en Florencia, en la editorial La Nuova Italia y bajo la dirección del grecista y balcanólogo Emanuele Banfi, el volumen La formazione dell 'Europa linguistica. Le lingue dell 'Europa tra Ia fine dell e dell II millennia que forma parte de la colección Lingue d 'Europa, dirigida por el rnismo autor. El libro describe la formación de los idiomas escritos en nuestro continente, dentro del segundo milenio, pero con miradas retrospectivas (basta la antigüedad). La materia es vista desde un punto de vista sociolingüístico-variacionístico-estandardológico pero no exclusivamente, ya que incluye también a los dialectos así como la historia interna y externa, los factores socioculturales, los geolingüísticos y otros. El volurnen se divide en dos partes principales: la primera trata de las lenguas indoeuropeas y la segunda de las no indoeuropeas (lenguas ugrofímicas y samoiedas, vasco, turco, calmuco, maltés).

5. Il disagio degli insegnanti tra psicologia e pedagogia: una indagine multidimensionale sul fenomeno del burnout

Gough, Heilbrun and Fioravanti, 1980) in the mode of Real Self. The sample consisted of 52 high school teachers including 28 males (53.8%) and 24 females (46.2%). 50 years the average age. The analysis of results shows the need for multiple dimension solutions to the problem and even more the need of a pedagogical analysis of the phenomenon in its intertwining with the underlying dynamics of contemporary society. This reading and the proposed solutions are inscribed in the context of broader changes that affect education and society as a whole, creating a discomfort that coagulates around the loss of sense of being in the world, so even the meaning of occupation and education. Abstract

A partire da un minuzioso esame della letteratura internazionale sui diversi versanti che costituiscono gli elementi chiave di questa ricerca (stress lavoro-correlato, burnout, formazione insegnanti) il lavoro vuole analizzare il fenomeno del burnout degli insegnanti come fenomeno multi dimensionale. Si raggiunge questo obiettivo a partire dalla concezione del burnout come risultato di stress lavoro-correlato che si muove su dimensioni plurime, aventi carattere sia soggettivo che organizzativo. Per l‘apprezzamento delle prime sono stati utilizzati il Maslach Burnout Inventory (Maslach e Jackson 1986; validazione italiana Sirigatti e Stefanile, 1993); sul versante della salute organizzativa il Multidimensional Organizational Health Questionnaire (MOHQ; Avallone e Paplomatas 2005); sul versante dei principali sintomi lamentati dal campione di ricerca la Sympton Check List (SCL-90; Derogatis, 1977) e infine sulla percezione di sé Adjective Check List (ACL; Gough 1949; valid. It. Gough, Heilbrun, e Fioravanti, 1980) nella modalità di Sé reale . Il campione era costituito da 52 docenti di cui 28 maschi (53,8%) e 24 femmine (46,2%). 50 anni l‘età media dei soggetti interpellati. L‘analisi dei risultati mostra la necessità di soluzioni al problema secondo più dimensioni e anche di una lettura pedagogica del fenomeno nel suo intrecciarsi con le dinamiche alla base della socialità contemporanea. Tale lettura e le soluzioni proposte si inscrivono infatti nel contesto ampio delle trasformazioni che investono a livello globale il mondo dell‘istruzione e la società nel suo complesso, generando un disagio che si coagula intorno alla perdita di senso del proprio essere nel mondo, quindi anche sul senso delle attività lavorative e dell‘educazione. Il contributo pedagogico è orientato quindi alla ricerca di senso da un lato, e al contrasto a livello istituzionale di pratiche volte a fare dell‘educazione un mercato e del suo assessment uno strumento politico. Le soluzioni proposte devono configurarsi nella direzione di azioni specifiche orientate alla formazione degli insegnanti di scuola superiore che privilegi strategie di empowerment volte al fronteggiamento di inevitabili frustrazioni e delusioni lavorative, alla formazione di una dirigenza in grado di esercitare forme di leadership promozionale; una formazione al saper essere a tutti i livelli della scuola e per tutto il personale e infine la promozione di una ricerca di significato che costituisce la base di un vero benessere all‘interno della scuola che rimane, nelle dinamiche che si intrecciano all‘interno di essa e nella sua configurazione sistemica, un microcosmo sociale.

6. Interacción madre-hijo y desarrollo mental infantil: Implicaciones para la atención temprana

Abstract

Objective: We pretend to analyze the relation between the maternal sensitivity and the motherchild interaction quality, and how the last affects child’s mental development in his/her first year. Methodology: The participants in this study were 19 children (11 boys and 8 girls) 12 month old, who were born in term and without pre or postnatal complications, with normal weight and high at the birth; and their respective mothers. The dyads came from intact families of medium socioeconomic level, residents in the Comunidad Autónoma de Murcia (Spain). The Mental Development of children was assessed with the Bayley Scales of Infant Development (Bayley, 1993); and the mother-child interaction was analyzed with the “CARE Index: Child-Adult Relation Experimental Index “designed by Crittenden (2001). Results: Maternal sensitivity has a significant relation with the child’s cooperative behaviour; both aspects together, promotes a synchronic and good-quality interaction; which is positive related with better mental development indexes. Conclusions: Maternal sensitivity is not an individual characteristic; it is a factor which emerges from the dynamic of the mother-child interactions. The relevance of this construct in the Early Intervention context is it relevance as a protective factor, in the implementation of intervention lines and the promotion of the infant’s development., Objetivo: Se pretende analizar la relación entre la sensibilidad materna y la calidad de la interacción infantil, y como ésta ultima afecta el desarrollo mental del niño en su primer año de vida. Método: Participaron 19 niños (11 niños y 8 niñas) de doce meses de edad, nacidos a término y sin ninguna complicación pre ni postnatal, con peso y longitud normales al nacer; y sus respectivas madres. Las díadas pertenecían a familias intactas de nivel socioeconómico medio, residentes en la Comunidad Autónoma de Murcia (España). Se evaluó el desarrollo mental de los niños mediante las Escalas BSID-II; y la interacción madre-hijo se valoró empleando el “CARE-Index: Índice experimental de relación niño-adulto” diseñado por Crittenden. Resultados: La sensibilidad materna está relacionada, significativamente, con el comportamiento cooperativo en el niño. Ambos aspectos, en conjunto, promueven una interacción sincrónica y de calidad que se relaciona positivamente con mayores índices de desarrollo mental. Conclusiones: La sensibilidad materna no es una característica individual, sino un factor que surge de la dinámica misma de las interacciones madre-hijo. La importancia de sensibilidad materna, desde el punto de vista de la atención temprana, radica en ser un factor útil a la hora de implementar líneas de intervención y promoción del desarrollo infantil.

7. Symplocaceae endémicas del Perú

Abstract

The Symplocaceae are represented in Peru by one genus, Symplocos, and 26 species, all woody plants (Ståhl, 1993). Here we recognize 14 endemic species, of which almost half is known from one locality. Most endemic species are found in Pluvial Montane Forests and Very Humid Montane Forests regions, between 2250 and 3700 m elevation. Six of these endemic species have been recorded within Peru's protected areas system., La familia Symplocaceae es reconocida en el Perú con un género, Symplocos, y 26 especies, todas ellas leñosas (Ståhl, 1993). En este trabajo reconocemos 14 especies endémicas, de las cuales, casi la mitad es conocida de una localidad. La mayoría de las especies endémicas ocupan las regiones Bosques Pluviales Montanos y Bosques Muy Húmedos Montanos, entre los 2250 y 3700 m de altitud. Seis especies endémicas se encuentran representadas dentro del Sistema Nacional de Áreas Naturales Protegidas por el Estado.
