Conversion-line and γ-ray intensities from the decay of 175Hf (T1/2 = 70 days) have been measured with π√2 magnetic β-spectrometer and two coaxial HPGe-detectors. The values of the internal conversion coefficient αK and penetration parameter λ for intraband magnetic dipole transitions γ114 and γ138 keV in 175Lu were determined.

High-precision measurements of the energies of reference γ-transitions from the decay of 175Hf have been performed with the γ-spectrometer. Using this data, the energies of levels and corresponding deexciting γ-rays in 175Lu were determined with the precision up to a few electron-volts. To a great extent they are in a good agreement with other experimental data but is more precise.

Abstract: This work measured the half life of radioisotope 175Hf, which was produced by neutron activation method at the ZF-300-II Intense Neutron Generator in Lanzhou University. The half life of 175Hf, measured by γ-ray spectrometry using a well calibrated GEM-60P coaxial High Purity Germanium (HPGe) detector, has been found to be 70.65±0.19 days. The present result agrees with the literature data well, while the accuracy was improved. [Copyright &y& Elsevier]
