China’s perspective on the international order in the new era is an integral part of Xi Jinping Thought on Diplomacy and a key component of the CPC Central Committee’s strategic plan for advancing the rule of law in foreign-related affairs. The essence of the perspective is built upon four pillars: multilateralism as the ideological foundation, the international law underpinned by the Charter of the United Nations as the legal basis, the international system with the UN at its core as the governance mechanism, and embracing cultural diversity as the value. As countries like the United States pose serious challenges to the current UN Charter-based international order and international law, safeguarding the multilateral international order remains a long and arduous journey. Going forward, under the guidance of Xi Jinping Thought on Diplomacy, it is essential to develop an upgraded version of multilateral international order. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
