Aiming at addressing the problems of single-content and obsolete projects in university-level analytical chemistry, introducing innovative and comprehensive experimental projects into teaching classrooms can enhance students' ability to explore and solve problems independently. Therefore, we designed an experimental teaching scheme that includes sample preparation, characterization and evaluation, as well as data processing and result comparison. The purpose of the experiment is to determine the contents of Ni and Mo in industrial oil hydrodesulfurization catalysts (in this case, Ni-Mo/γ-Al2O3 catalysts) using spectrophotometry. The goals are to enable students to understand the fundamentals of conventional supported catalyst preparation and master the quantitative analysis procedure of spectrophotometry.
