2011年東北地方太平洋沖地震(M9.0)は, 東日本大震災を引き起こし, 西南日本では今後数十年内に南海トラフ巨大地震が発生し, 西日本大震災が引き起こされると危惧されている. こういった巨大地震の発生予測は, 現状では困難とされているが, 日置(1)により, 東北地方太平洋沖地震発生40分前に電離層全電子数(TEC)異常が生じたと報告されている. TEC異常は様々な要因で発生するため, 地震発生前のTEC異常については地震発生との関連について, 依然議論が続いている. そこで, 本研究では, 日置(1)が指摘したGNSS観測点と衛星の一つのペアについて, 地震前後の20日間, および2011年を通して各月の11日のTEC変動を調べた. 結果として, 地震発生前を除いて, 同様なTEC異常は観測されなかった. しかしながら, 観測点・衛星ペア数や観測期間が限られているため, 巨大地震発生とTEC異常の関連について, 確定的なことは言えず, 今後更に検討すべき課題と考えられる., The 2011 Tohoku earthquake (M9.0) caused the great East Japan disaster. In southwest Japan, the Nankai earthquake is expected to occur in the next several decades to produce the great West Japan disaster. It is thought that the prediction of such large earthquakes is difficult at present. However, Heki(1) reported the existence of a pre-seismic TEC positive anomaly around 40 minutes prior to the occurrence of the 2011 Tohoku earthquake. Since the TEC anomaly is caused by several factors, a pre-seismic TEC anomaly and its relationship to the occurrence of great earthquakes have been discussed. In this study, for the pair of GNSS station and the satellite where Heki reported the pre-seismic TEC anomaly, I analyzed TEC variations for 20 days before and after the Tohoku earthquake and on the 11th day of each month throughout 2011. As a result, I did not recognize any TEC anomalies, except on the day when the Tohoku earthquake occurred. However, the limited number of GNSS stations and satellite pairs and the analyzed days prevented me from concluding the existence of pre-seismic TEC anomalies prior to great earthquakes. For confirmation, it would be necessary to investigate much more data for longer periods.

In the present work, the simple geometrical considerations that explain the results of the VLF (Very Low Frequency) monitoring related with the great Hyogo-ken Nambu (Kobe) Earthquake are suggested. The effect reported was observed in both the phase and amplitude of the VLF Omega signal. Diurnal variations of the Tsushima transmitter were modified a few days before and after the main shock of the Earthquake (EQ) recorded at the Inubo observatory. An explanation of the effect was proposed based on the dependence of radio propagation on the effective height of the ionosphere. The present report is a further development of the idea. Deviations from the median diurnal curves occurred in such a way, as if the ambient day conditions at the VLF path grew approximately by 1 hour. Confining to a geometrical model here, it is shown that the relocation of the regular ionosphere could be a result of the ozonosphere modification in the nearby zone of the future EQ. Characteristic points in the diurnal amplitude and phase profiles are linked with the position of the day-night nonuniformity. Time of the local sunrise (sunset) in the ionosphere depends on the movement of the earth's shadow. Long term VLF studies show that the sunrise occurs from behind the ozonosphere (height of 30-50 km) rather than from the solid ground surface. This is why the length of the ionospheric day varies with the ozonosphere modifications. Estimates show that the day may become 40 minutes longer, when the standard ozonosphere vanishes. There is an alternative explanation for the VLF effects observed. Longer sunlit period before the earthquake could be attributed to an unknown agent that facilitates the ionization during the dusk conditions at 60-90 km altitudes. An opinion is given that the modifications in the lower and middle atmosphere governing the ionospheric sunrise-sunset shifts are easy to link to, say, radon diffusion., 本研究で、兵庫県南部(神戸)大地震に関するVLF(Very Low Frequency)モニタの結果を説明する単純な幾何学的考察を示した。報告された効果は、VLFオメガ信号の位相および振幅の両方で観測したものであった。犬吠観測所において記録した地震(EQ)の本震の前後数日、対馬送信所の日変化に変化があった。この変化を、電波の伝搬が電離層内での有効高さによって変化することに基づいて説明した。本報告はこの考え方をさらに発展させたものである。あたかもVLF経路における日中条件がほぼ1時間延びたかのように、平均的日周値曲線からの逸脱が起きた。ここでは幾何学的模型に限定し、将来、地震が起きるであろう地域のオゾン層の変化により、正規の電離層の再配置が起きうることを示した。振幅と位相日変化の特徴的な点は昼夜の変化と関係している。電離層の局地的日の出(日没)時刻は地球の影の動きに依存する。長期のVLF研究は、固体地表からよりもむしろオゾン層(高さ30〜50km)から日が昇ることを示した。これが何故電離層の昼の長さがオゾン層変化と共に変わるかの理由である。標準オゾン層が消滅すると、昼が40分長くなることを推定値が示している。観測されたVLF効果に関し別の説明がある。地震前の長い日照期間は、夕暮状態中のイオン化を助長する、高度60〜90kmにある未知の媒介物の結果であり得る。電離層の日の出・日没時刻の変化を支配する低中層大気における変化は、たとえばラドン拡散と結びついているという見解を述べた。

Phenomenologic theory of dynamics of block medium states using quantum mechanical formalism was presently presented, where defect structures called 'seismons' which have quasi-particle properties are included. The most important results which can be obtained from the theory is decreasing of the period between perturbations in the ionosphere closely to shock. This results correspond with experimental discovery by ULF (Ultra Low Frequency) method. Main features of the seismo-ionospheric effects can be explained by this new theory., 量子力学的な定式化によるブロック媒体の動力学の現象論的な理論が最近提示された。この理論には準粒子特性を持つseismonと呼ぶ欠陥構造が含まれる。本理論から得られる最も興味ある結果は、地震の発生近くに電離層での擾乱の周期が減少することである。この結果はULF(Ultra Low Frequency)法による実験的な発見と一致している。地震電離層効果の主要な特徴をこの新たな理論で説明できる。

Electron temperature (Te) and density (Ne) data which were obtained with equator-orbiting satellite Hinotori in 1981-1982 at the height of 600 km are used to study the local time, latitude, longitude, and seasonal variations of the topside ionosphere at low latitudes. The study shows that difference of behavior of the daytime Te and Ne between two hemispheres is well understood by the effect of neutral wind. Electron density in the summer hemisphere is higher than that in winter hemisphere due to meridional wind component (seasonal variation) which blows from summer hemisphere to winter hemisphere and consequently electron temperature is lower in summer hemisphere than in winter hemisphere. In addition to this effect, effect of the zonal wind component (diurnal change) is superposed at the regions where magnetic meridian plane tilts. During the last decade much information on the existence of seismo-ionosphere coupling became available. Especially it corresponds to the night airglow observations due to its close relationship to a number of processes in the atmosphere and the atmosphere, in particular, to acoustic-gravity waves (Gokhberg et al., 1995). The study of the night airglow observations, which was carried out during many years in the Caucasus region, displayed statistically significant airglow intensity variations which correlate with the local seismic activity (Fishkova et al., 1985). It was firmly established that the green oxygen line lambda = 557.7 nm and the red oxygen line lambda = 630.0 nm are the most sensitive to the local seismicity. The intensity of the green line emission has anomalous increase some hours prior to the main shock and few hours after while the red line emission undergoes a moderate fading one day before the shock. The natural behavior of these emissions, i.e. seasonal variations, solar cycle dependence and etc., are very well documented. Thus the relevant anomalies can be easily distinguished against the background variations. In view of these facts it seems to be useful to organize the regular night airglow observations by means of ground based scanning photometer measurements in order to verify the preliminary results and to increase the statistical reliability of the effects under study. It is of great importance to carry out the similar observations on board the low-orbiting satellites in the framework of the future space missions (e.g., Compass-M or Demeter projects)., 最近10年間に地震-電離圏結合の存在に関する多くの情報が入手可能になった。これは大気中での多くの過程、特に音響重力波との密接な関連に起因する夜間大気光観測と対応している(Gokhbergら、1995年)。夜間大気光観測の研究はコーカサス地域で何年も行われ、局所地震活動と関係する重要な大気光強度変動を統計的に示した(Fiskhovaら、1985年)。緑の酸素線λ=557.7nmおよび赤の酸素線λ=630.0nmが局地の地震活動に対して最も敏感であることが確認された。緑線の発光強度は、主な地震の数時間前また数時間後に異常に増加し、他方、赤線の発光は地震の1日前には並のフェーディングを被る。これらの発光の自然挙動、すなわち、季節的変動、太陽周期依存性などはとくに良く文献に記録されている。それゆえ、問題となる異常はバックグラウンドの変動に対し容易に識別できる。この事実によって、予備的調査結果を確認し、調査中のこの効果の統計的信頼性を増加させるために、地上設置の走査光度計による通常の夜間大気光観測を組織化することは有益である。同様の観測を将来のスペースミッションで低軌道衛星上において実施することは非常に重要である(例えば、Compass-MまたはDemeterプロジェクト)。

VLBI観測では、地球大気によって宇宙電波の位相遅延にランダムな時間変動が生じるため、VLBIの直接の観測量であるフリンジは観測時間が長くなるほどコヒーレンスを失い、時間積分によって信号対雑音比を上げることが困難になる。電波干渉計およびVLBI観測で天体のイメージを得るためには、大気位相揺らぎによってフリンジのコヒーレンスを損うことのない積分時間(コヒーレンス時間)内にフリンジを検出する必要があり、VLBIの検出感度は事実上コヒーレンス時間で制限されている。VLBI位相補償は、観測天体とその近傍の参照天体をアンテナの指向方向を交互に切り替えて観測し、参照天体のフリンジ位相を用いて観測天体のフリンジ位相を補正することによって、擾乱大気による位相揺らぎをはじめとする様々な位相誤差を大きく低減し、フリンジのコヒーレンスを改善する観測技術である。位相補償観測は、コヒーレンス時間内では検出が困難な微弱な観測天体のイメージングや、VLBIの観測精度でアストロメトリ観測(参照天体の位置を基準にした観測天体の高精度相対位置決定)を可能にする。軌道上の電波望遠鏡は大気の影響は受けないが、スペースVLBIにおいてはスペース基線は地上電波望遠鏡と構成するため、地球大気による位相揺らぎを受ける。VSOP-2では、衛星に高トルクのアクチュエータを搭載し、数度程度の離角を持つ観測天体と参照天体に対して数十秒以内の姿勢変更を繰り返し実行する姿勢制御により、アンテナ・スイッチングによる位相補償観測の実現を目指している。

Some known theories of the electromagnetic influence of the earth processes on the state of the ionosphere are considered critically. The main discrepancies of those approaches are analyzed and new model, based on the diffractive characteristics of the earth electromagnetic field alterations, is proposed. Some observational consequences of the model are considered., 電離層の状態への地球過程の電磁的影響について、いくつかの既知の理論を批判的に考察した。これらの理論のアプローチの主な不一致点を解析し、地球電磁場の変化の回折的性質に基づいて新しいモデルを提案した。このモデルのいくつかの観測的結果を考察した。

The results of seismic, geodetic, hydrological and geochemical observations were reviewed to construct the temporal evolution and space distribution of the Earthquake pattern. It includes the foreshock, coseismic and aftershock stages with total duration of one to three weeks. This process can be described by equation, which results to the universal instability before the main shock and hyperbolic relaxation after it, if to suppose a temporal change of the coefficient related with frictional strength of the rock medium. The extrapolation of Earthquake pattern into atmosphere and ionosphere depends on efficiency of lithosphere-atomosphere-ionosphere interaction. The possible mechanisms of the interaction are discussed. One of the simple indicators of this interference are perturbations in the slow tidal oscillations of atmospheric/ionospheric parameters of harmonics of 27-days period., 地震的、測地学的、陸水学的および地球化学的観察の結果をまとめ、地震型の一時的な発生と空間分布を構成した。これは衝撃前、共地震、および衝撃後の段階を含み、全体で1-3週間に及ぶ。この作用は数式で表現でき、岩石媒体の摩擦力に関係した係数を暫時変化させると、主衝撃の前は全体的に不安定となり、またその後では大きく減衰する結果となっている。地震型が気圏および電離層へ反射する程度は岩石圏-大気圏-電離層の相互作用の効率による。この相互作用の現実的な機構について考察した。この相互干渉の簡単な指標の一つは、27日周期という大気圏/電離層媒体変数のゆっくりした干満振動における摂動がある。

It is well known now that earthquakes cause a modification of ionospheric structures and originate hydromagnetic waves in ULF (Ultra Low Frequency) range. The hydromagnetic waves are transformed by the nonlinear mechanisms into VLF (Very Low Frequency) waves that are able to propagate through the ionosphere up to satellite altitudes. The purpose of this paper is to model the propagation processes of the ULF wave and the VLF waves from the seismogenic origin in the magnetosphere-ionosphere system in order to determine the characteristics of the VLF signals on the satellite altitudes. The three sources of the VLF waves are taken in consideration: (1) lightning sources; (2) the nonlinear interaction of the ULF waves with the superthermal electrons on the ionosphere heights; and (3) the interaction of the ULF waves with the energetic protons in the equatorial plane of the magnetosphere. The propagation characteristics of the VLF signals were calculated for five models of the ionosphere. It is shown that the maximal amplitudes of the VLF signals must be observed near the VLF source L-shells. The modification of the ionosphere by the earthquakes leads to more favorable conditions for the penetration of the VLF waves through the ionosphere., 現在、地震は電離層構造を変えてしまい、ULF(Ultra Low Frequency)領域で磁気流体波を生成することが知られている。非線形機構によりこの磁気流体波は、電離層を通して衛星高度まで伝搬するVLF(Very Low Frequency)に変換される。本文の目的は、衛星高度でのVLF信号の特性を決めるために、磁気圏-電離層システムにおける地震発生源からのULF波およびVLF波の伝搬過程をモデル化することである。VLF波の3つの発生源を検討した。(1)雷放電源、(2)電離層高度での超熱電子とULF波との非線形相互作用、(3)磁気圏の赤道面での高エネルギー陽子とULF波との相互作用。電離層の5つのモデルに対してVLF信号の伝搬特性を計算した。VLF信号の最大振幅はVLF波源L殻近傍で観測されなければならないことがわかった。地震による電離層の変化により、VLF波は電離層を良く透過するようになる。

In this report it is discussed the acoustic channel of the lithosphere-atmosphere-ionosphere connection. The acoustic channel consists of the transformation of the atmospheric acoustic waves caused by oscillations of the Earth's surface into the ionospheric plasma waves and moving of the E- and F-layers. This mechanisms may be very effective thanks to such beautiful property of the atmospheric acoustic waves as increasing of their amplitude by the propagation vertically up., 本報では地殻-大気圏-電離層関連の音響チャネルについて論じる。音響チャネルとしては、地球表面の振動で生じた大気圏音響波の電離層プラズマ波への変換およびE-とF-層の変動がある。この機構は、垂直伝播による振幅の増大など大気圏音響波の優れた性質により、たいへん効果的である。

NO(+) plasma was produced inside a chamber using an EUV source and controlled amount of water vapor was introduced to produce cluster ions. Ion formation started within a minute but the time required for attaining peak concentration for different ions varied from 1 min to 40 min. Positive ions detected for the first time in this experiment were 33(+), 54(+), 66(+), 71(+), 76(+), 83(+), 86(+), 93(+), 94(+), 102(+), 112(+), 117(+), 131(+) (with high concentration) and 19(+), 29(+) and 37(+) (with low concentrations). In addition, a number of other ions were detected with lower concentrations. Concentration of most of the ions was strongly dependent on NO and water vapor pressures. Effect of lower and upper thresholds of chamber pressure, for the production of cluster ions was observed clearly. These pressure thresholds correspond to an altitude range of 50 to 100 km in the ionosphere, where cluster ions have been observed.

The interaction between the current field and ionosphere has been studied in relation to a probable precursory geomagnetic anomaly of an earthquake. The underground rock in seismogenic area is thought to change its structure, porosity and the properties of the water in it, due to the stress and subsequent cracks, resulting the generation of an anomalous current field in the area. A two dimensional equivalent current model was designed for the calculation of geomagnetic anomaly values in a seismogenic area, supposing the electro-magnetic field to be constant. The around epicenter geomagnetic field intensities were calculated by the formula. It was found through drawing of the contour diagrams that the epicenter of an earthquake was generally located at the contour line, and that the large geomagnetic field intensity variation was not at the epicenter but at a certain spot away from the epicenter. Based on the results, the possibility of earthquake prediction was discussed giving examples of successful prediction about 20 earthquakes., 電流場と電離層の間の相互作用を有望な地震先行現象である地磁気異常との関連で研究した。地震発生地域の地下岩石は応力並びに引続く亀裂により構造、間隙率および含まれる水の特性を変化させ、異常電流場を生成すると考えられる。地震発生地域における地磁気異常値を計算するために、電磁場は一定であると仮定して2次元等価電流模型を設計した。震央周辺の地球磁場強度を式を用いて計算した。等高線図を引くことにより、地震の震央は一般的に等高線上に位置していること、また大きな地球磁場強度の変化は震央ではなく震央から離れた所にあることが分かった。この結果に基づいて、約20地震の予知成功を例にして地震予知の可能性を論じた。

As it is known, the ELF (Extremely Low Frequency)-currents are induced in the lithosphere before earthquake; they are sources of electromagnetic radiation which penetrates into Earth ionosphere and magnetosphere. The possibility to observe these perturbations and to forecast earthquake is widely discussed in literature. This work deals with the determination of amplitudes of electromagnetic waves including Alfven waves at frequencies of 1-100 Hz that appear above the epicenters of the future earthquakes. It is shown that these waves could be detected by ionospheric micro satellite at altitudes 500-900 km (as it is planned in Ukrainian satellite mission Warning). The theory is based on model of nonuniform waveguide in which the lithosphere currents (the sources of radiation) are given at the lower waveguide boundary. It is assumed that lithosphere currents are localized in the vicinity of epicenter of earthquake and have up to the approximate sizes of 100 km. The neutral atmosphere as well as inhomogeneous ionosphere are represented by layers with different dielectric permittivity tensors epsilon (z) where z is altitude. Following three layers can be released: (1) atmosphere which epsilon approximately equals to 1 and z is greater than 0 and less than 80 km; (2) lower ionosphere which ionic collisions are great (greater nu(sub i) than omega) and z is greater than 80 km and less than 250 km; and (3) higher ionosphere which ionic collisions are unessential (less nu(sub i) than omega) and z is greater than 250 km. The oblique direction of geomagnetic field is taken into account in layers 2 and 3. Also essential inequality of different components of permittivity tensors in these layers is used explicitly. Detailed calculations are made for the bypassing of satellite over the Carpathian region of seismic activity., 周知のように、地震発生前に岩石圏にELF(Extremely Low Frequency)電流が誘導される。これは地球電離層および磁気圏に透過する電磁放射源となる。これらの摂動を観測し、地震を予知する可能性については文献で大いに検討されている。本研究では、震央上に現れる1-100Hzの周波数の電磁波(アルベーン波を含む)の振幅を決定する。これらの電磁波を高度500-900kmで電離層マイクロ衛星で検出できることを示した(実際にはウクライナ衛星ミッションワーニングで計画した)。その理論は、岩石源電流(放射源)を低導波管境界で与える非一様導波管のモデルに基づく。岩石圏電流は震央付近に局在化し、広がりは高くても100km程度であると仮定する。中性大気および不均質電離層を各種の誘電率テンソルε(z)の層で表現する。ただし、zは高度である。以下の3つの層を取扱うことができる。(1)ε≒1、0＜z＜80kmの大気、(2)80km＜z＜250kmでイオン衝突の大きい(ν(sub i)＞ω)下部電離層、(3)z＞250kmでイオン衝突が本質的でない(ν(sub i)＜ω)上部電離層。地球磁場の傾きは層2および層3で考慮した。これらの層における誘電率テンソルの各成分の本質的な違いもあからさまに用いた。カルバティア地震活動領域において、衛星のバイパスに対して詳細な計算を行った。

There are increases in the Earth Electrostatic Field (EEF) on the Earth surface up to 1,000 V/m before coming strong shallow focus earthquakes. Trace of these variations of EEF reaches the ionosphere altitudes. The following possible physical phenomena caused by these variations were indicated: the layer formation with an increased concentrations of ions and atoms of some metals with maximum on altitude near 100 km, and the heating of the electron component of the ionosphere plasma resulting in the appearance of additional number of vibrationally excited nitrogen molecules. The availability of sodium atoms and vibrationally excited nitrogen molecules in this layer is favorable for the energy transporting reaction from nitrogen to sodium with formation of excited atoms and following radiation. The sequence of second phenomenon is enhancement of ion recombination process on charged dusty particles. Their charge strongly depends on electron temperature. Electron energy in the formed atom corresponds to binding energy of electron states above dusty particles surface. Radiative de-excitation of such atoms causes the appearance of infrared photons. The corresponding sodium spectral lines can be observed in the night ionosphere emission by monitoring from satellites., 強い浅発地震の発生前には、地球表面上で1,000V/mに達する地球静磁場(EEF)の増加があり、これらのEEF変動の微小部分は電離圏高度にまで到達する。この変動によって起こされ得る物理的現象を示した。それは、ある種の金属イオンおよび金属原子濃度の増加による最大高度約100kmでの層形成と、振動励起窒素分子の増加に起因する電離圏プラズマの電子成分の加熱である。この層中のナトリウム原子と振動励起窒素分子は、エネルギー移動反応を起こし励起原子を生成して発光すると考えられる。電離圏プラズマの電子成分の加熱の現象は、荷電した塵状粒子上のイオン再結合過程を促進する。その荷電は電子温度に強く依存する。生成した原子の電子エネルギーは、ちり状粒子表面上の電子状態の結合エネルギーに相当する。そのような原子の放射失活は赤外光子の出現をもたらす。相応するナトリウムスペクトル線は衛星からのモニタにより夜間の電離層発光中に観測できる。
