A rapid method for measuring the oil content of oily sludge is established by combining the ultrasonic extraction pretreatment with digital image colorimetry. In this method, the petroleum substances in oily sludge are extracted into petroleum ether by ultrasonic method. Then the pictures are taken by mobile phone, and converted into RGB values by software. Finally, the oil content is calculated by interpolation method. The effects of ultrasonic time, color channels, shutter time and interpolation method on the determination of oil content are investigated. The best test conditions are determined, and the recoverability of the solvent is studied. The results show that the detection limit is 0.07%,the relative standard deviation is 3.5%,and the recovery is 92%～106%.And the waste petroleum ether produced by the measurement can be recovered and reused. This method takes much less time than the traditional method, does not produce environmental pollution in the measurement process, and is suitable for the rapid detection and analysis of oil content of oily sludge on site.
