- Abstract
Dyes are widely used in leather, textile, papermaking, plastic and pharmaceutical industries, and their ensuing emission in wastewater poses a serious threat to aquatic system and human health. Therefore, it is of great significance to establish a method with efficient removal ability for a variety of dyes to ensure human and environmental health. In this study, a dye removal method based on photo-Fenton technology was established, in which Fe3 O4 / SnS2 was used as a photo-Fenton catalyst to construct the reaction system. The optimal Fe/Sn ratio of Fe3 O4 / SnS2 composite was investigated, and the mechanism of the constructed reaction was explored. The results showed that Fe3 O4 / SnS2 composites had the highest methylene blue (MB) removal efficiency when Fe/Sn ratio was 1.0. The obtained Fe3 O4 / SnS2 composites also had excellent degradation ability for methylene orange and Rhodamine B. At the same time, even after 5 photo-Fenton catalytic cycles, the degradation rate of MB was still more than 80%. The established method is helpful to realize the efficient removal of dyes in water environment and has practical application potential. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
