大学における分析化学実験では，配位数6のカルシウムイオンCa2+にエチレンジアミン四酢酸イオン（EDTAアニオン）が六座配位子としてキレートした錯体の化学構造が示されることが多い．しかし，そうした構造であることの根拠となる学術論文は引用されておらず，文献によっては異なる構造が示されている．そこで，本研究ではアルカリ土類金属イオンをキレート配位したEDTA錯体の結晶構造を報告した研究論文を文献調査によって体系化した．その結果，12種類の結晶構造のいずれもが配位数6の中心金属イオンにEDTAアニオンが六座配位子として配位した錯体ではなく，配位数が6より大きいものや，六配位座数未満のEDTAアニオン配位錯体が多いと判明した．また，溶存状態におけるCa-EDTA錯体であっても，必ずしも配位数6のCa2+にEDTAアニオンが六座配位子として配位しているとは限らないことを示す分光学的研究も見受けられた．従って，アルカリ土類金属-EDTAキレートの配位構造として誤解を招きかねない説明をすることは，なるべく避けるべきだろう．, 日本科学教育学会研究会研究報告, 36(6), pp. 59-64; 2022

当研究室ではこれまで中学校や高等学校の生徒や教員を対象として，結晶性物質より得られたX線結晶構造解析の実測データや，無償のデータベースを活用した物質構造ICT教材の開発を行ってきたが，教材の実践はほとんど行われていなかった。本研究では高等学校での授業実践を行い，有機分子の構造への理解に，分子構造の動画教材が従来の組立式模型のかわりに使用できる可能性が示唆された。また，GIGAスクール構想や指導要領の改訂に伴い，生徒の主体性や探求する態度に対応できるICT教材やライブラリが求められる中で，これらの教材をさらに拡充し，物質の性質や利用法などを記載して集約したライブラリとして再構築した。高校生を対象とした教材実践を行い，これらのライブラリや，結晶・分子構造の可視化プログラム「VESTA」を使用した教材が，物質に対する生徒の理解度や主体性に関して有効である可能性が示唆された。

当研究室では結晶構造に基づいた分子構造ICT教材の開発と普及を行ってきた。X線結晶構造解析装置で種々の結晶試料を測定して得られた分子構造の実測データや，それらのデータを結晶構造描画ソフトウェアで可視化した動画を教材として作成し，web上で公開してきた。しかし，現有装置では常圧で液体窒素の沸点から室温までの範囲でしか測定できず，また結晶を得るのが難しい場合もあり，中学校・高等学校理科の教科書に掲載されている物質の結晶構造データを入手するには限界があった。 これまでの実測データに加え，本研究では無償のデータベースより結晶構造データを入手し，分子および結晶構造ICT教材を開発した。これらの教材を物質の種類により分類し，web上に構築した教材ライブラリに掲載した。これらはwebブラウザ上で回転させて閲覧できる。通信環境を備えていなくても，あらかじめダウンロードして，PCやタブレットなどの付属アプリケーションにより使用できる。

In the history of modern picture books that surpasses 120 years, picture book research and picture book theories began in earnest only in the 1950s. Most of the 20th century picture book theories revolved around story picture books for children. There is a kind of metaphorical insight, which many of the theories have in common. It is the insight that little children enter the world of picture books. The expression, “entering the world of picture books,” even if it is a metaphor, is often used by many picture book researchers. The premise of this metaphor is that the picture books have a world of their own. Picture books have the function of disclosing a microcosm, into which the young readers enter in a certain way. The objective of this study is to decipher the structure of a picture book that evokes the work of imagination, as shown by this metaphor. In Chapter 1, we will consider the study of picture books, the methodological difficulties in discussing how children read picture books, and the setting of problems for the respective purpose. In Chapter 2, we examine the discussions of the German philosopher Walter Benjamin, who was the first person to elaborate upon the metaphor of children’s entering into the world of picture books. In Chapter 3, we will examine a picture book written by Marie Hall Ets, the representative artist of picture books in 20th century United States, to discuss the structure of picture books that invite young readers into its respective world, which is like an attractive microcosm, and lead them back to the actual world again. In the final chapter, a summary has been provided to bring to notice the possibilities and limitations of the metaphorical understanding that children will enter the world of picture books.

A condensed phenoxazine dimer was synthesized and characterized. X-ray crystallographic analysis of the dimer shows a double-butterfly structure, in which the nitrogen atoms are located above and below the molecular plane. A radical cation salt of the dimer was obtained using tris(4-bromophenyl)aminium hexafluoroantimonate as the oxidant. The salt is air-stable in solid and solution states. The cation structure was evaluated by X-ray crystallographic analysis, showing that the phenoxazine units were converted to a planar structure upon oxidation.

地球温暖化の原因となる二酸化炭素の排出量を削減するため、その発生源となる石油資源への依存から風力、太陽光、そしてバイオマス等の再生可能な資源への転換が積極的に進められている。石油を原料としたポリマーからバイオマスを出発原料とするポリヒドロキシ酪酸（PHB）、ポリブチレンサクシネート（PBS）、ポリ-L-乳酸（PLLA）等は材料分野における転換の取り組みと言える。これらの中でもPLLAは良好な機械特性を有するので、自動車や家電製品等に利用が進んでいる。さらに、近年のマイクロプラスチックによる海洋汚染が大きな問題となっており、自然界で分解するプラスチックへの要望も高まりつつある。PLLAはバイオマスを出発原料とするだけでなく、自然界で分解する生分解性を有するので、この解決にも貢献すると考えられる。 PLLAの合成には、ラクチドの開環重合及び乳酸の直接重縮合の二つの方法がある。ラクチドの精製等多段のプロセスを含むが、重合制御の容易さから工業的に適応されている。一方、製造コスト・エネルギー消費の低い直接重縮合が種々の方法で試みられており、中でも溶融/固相重合法（MP/SSP）が最も研究開発が進んでいるおり工業化に近いと言える。しかし、この方法は最初の報告から15年以上経過しているが、未だにラクチド法と比べ分子量が低い、触媒が残存し二次成形加工時に分子低下の原因となる、着色するという問題点が克服できず工業化には至っていない。また、高い重合性を有するスズ系の触媒が使用されるが、自然環境下での分解に伴い触媒が自然環境下に拡散していくことも懸念される。 そこで、本研究では環境負荷が低い触媒を用い、しかも二次加工時の分子量低下を抑制するため重合後の触媒活性除去を検討した。さらに、固相重合下（SSP）での結晶状態並びに結晶成長と分子量の関係を明らかにする事により、MP/SSPによるPLLAの高分子量化を達成した。 第1章では、全体の諸言を述べている。その内容としては、これまで検討されてきたPLLAの重合方法並びに重合触媒の研究について紹介し、更に既報の研究でいまだに解明されていない重合挙動、また検討されていない点を整理し、本研究の意義と目的を述べている。 第2章では、ポリ-L-乳酸の固相重合過程における結晶構造の成長に伴う分子量増加について述べている。具体的な内容としては、PLLAのSSPにおける分子量増加と結晶構造の変化との関係を明らかにしている。ドデシルベンゼンスルホン酸を触媒としL-乳酸の溶融重縮合により、重量平均分子量（Mw）約3000Da、光学純度99 ％ee以上のPLLAプレポリマーを得ている。次に80～110 ℃で熱処理し、120～140 ℃のSSPによりMw 100,000Da以上のPLLAが得られている。Mwの最大上昇は140 ℃の固相重合時であったが、結晶構造の成長は、SSP初期120 ℃で誘導され結晶化度は71％に達したことが述べられている。PLLAの広角X線および小角X線散乱により、PLLAが熱処理およびSSPを通しα型結晶を保持し、ラメラ形態の変化がほとんどないことが明らかにされている。この事より、酸触媒による重縮合は、ラメラ晶表面のab面上に120 ℃以上で濃縮されたPLLAプレポリマー末端基の反応により促進されることが示唆されるとしている。以上の様に、SSPにおいて熱処理した試料の結晶形態は、PLLAの最終分子量に強く影響を与えることを明らにしている。 第3章では、芳香族スルホン酸触媒の分解温度が溶融/固相重合により合成されるポリ（L-乳酸）の分子量および熱安定性に及ぼす影響について述べている。具体的な内容としては、芳香族スルホン酸を触媒としてPLLAのMP/SSPを検討している。得られたポリマーの分子量および熱安定性の増加は、熱重量分析により得られるスルホン酸の5％重量損失温度（Td,5％）と関係することを明らかにしている。触媒として150 ℃前後のTd,5％を示す2,5-ジメチル-、2,4-ジメチル- 及び4-メチル-ベンゼンスルホン酸を用い、高分子量で熱安定性に優れるPLLAを得ている。一方、100 ℃付近にTd,5％を持つ2,4,6-トリメチルベンゼンスルホン酸、並びに200 ℃以上のTd,5％を持つドデシルベンゼンスルホン酸は、熱安定性が著しく低いPLLAしか得られないとしている。生成ポリマー中の残留触媒や重合中に生じるSO3-はPLLAの熱安定性を低下させる事を明らかにしている。最適なTd,5％を持つ2,5-ジメチル-、2,4-ジメチル-スルホン酸触媒を選択する事で、SSP中で活性を維持しながら、重合後の熱処理により効率的に触媒を除去し、高分子量で熱的安定性に優れたPLLA合成プロセスを見出している。 第4章では、全体の結論並びに将来展望について述べている。その内容として、第2、3章の全体の総括並びに、PLLAの直接重縮合に関して、今後更に期待される研究分野を述べている。

Two-dimensional (2D) grid coordination networks with inclined interpenetration were prepared by Cd-(NO3)2 with 2,7-bis(4-pyridylmethyl)-1,3,4,5,6,8-hexafluoronaphthalene (2,7-bpfn) or 2,6-bis (4-pyridylmethyl)-1,3,4,5,7,8-hexafluoronaphthalene (2,6-bpfn) in the presence of aromatic compounds. Crystal structures of {[Cd(2,7-bpfn)2(NO3)2]・(methyl benzoate)1.5・(EtOH)0.5}n (1) and {[Cd(2,6-bpfn)2(NO3)2]・(toluene)2.5}n (2) were determined. Methyl benzoate and toluene molecules were clathrated in cyclic cavities of the grid networks through arene-perfluoroarene interactions.

理科教育におけるWeb ベースの対話型3 次元結晶構造教材としてX3D 形式あるいは3D PDF を使ったシステムを比較検討した。どちらの形式もe- ラーニングシステムと高い親和性を持ち，また初学者と専門家の空間概念の把握に関するギャップを埋める教材として優れていると考えられた。データの継続使用を考えた場合，オープン規格であるX3D 形式と対応Web ブラウザを用いるシステムが適していた。一方，高品位な印刷が必要な場合は3D PDF とAdobe Reader を組み合わせたシステムが適していると考えられたが，将来に渡る継続利用を考慮した場合，このシステムはプロプライエタリである点に留意して運用しなくてはならないだろう。

An electrostatic levitator was developed for the structural analysis of high-temperature and undercooled liquids by X-ray diffraction. The apparatus can be used to investigate the structure of metallic, semiconductor, and ceramic liquids. Samples of zirconium, silicon, and alumina in their liquid phases could be kept levitated for more than one hour with this apparatus. Antifreeze Proteins (AFPs) and Glycoproteins (AFGPs) are found in nature in many cold weather organisms including fish, amphibians, plants and insects. These proteins suppress the freezing temperature of the blood serum in fish just enough to keep them from freezing in their supercooled environments while the melting temperature remains unchanged (hysteresis) and inhibit ice recrystallization enough to reduce damage in freeze tolerant organisms, making them essential for survival. To date workers have described at least five distinct classes of these proteins, AFP types 1 to 4 and AFGPs, as well as two distinct types of insect AFPs. The Type 1 and Type 2 AFPs are alanine and cysteine rich, respectively, while the AFGPs are alanine rich as well as glycosolated. They exist in a variety of structures ranging from alpha- or beta-helical to globular and yet to some extent they all accomplish the same function. These proteins are thought to bind to the surface of ice and inhibit growth. Although, this mechanism has recently been challenged by mutation experiments, where the residues thought to bind to the ice lattice were replaced with hydrophobic ones and these retained nearly all of the antifreeze activity. However, there is a consensus that this is a surface phenomenon, but no clear evidence for the exact nature of the mechanism is available and is necessary to understand how these proteins work. In this work, we use 3-d confocal microscopy to gain insight into the antifreeze interaction with the ice/solution interface. Single ice crystals are grown in solution from a capillary in the presence of antifreeze proteins labeled with Fluorescein Isothiocyanate (FITC). At 5 micro-g/ml quantities of AFGP we see a clear adsorption at the prismatic planes with growth stopped while the temperature is in the hysteresis region. When we lower the temperature below the hysteresis region growth continues while the protein is rejected from the crystal. At higher concentrations the gross morphology can vary quite dramatically, but the proteins are still rejected from the solid. This contradicts previous understandings that the mechanism for antifreeze action must be a tight irreversible binding. Furthermore, the conformational change of Antifreeze Glycoprotein (AFGP) molecules during ice formation on the AFGP thin film was followed by Attenuated Total Reflection (ATR)-FTIR (Fourier Transform Infrared) spectroscopy. The ATR-FTIR difference spectrum of the frozen and supercooled samples showed that helical conformation of AFGP molecules is predominant at the ice-water interface., 資料番号: AA0063349002

Correlation between the surface topography of lysozyme crystals which were grown in well controlled condition and X-ray topography of the crystals using monochromatic synchrotron beams were for the first time performed. It was found that the difference of growth step propagation will show up different contrast in the topography, which means that some of the inhomogeneity in the crystals are caused by the difference of step propagation. A new method to use a seed crystal for the X-ray topography is also proposed together with a new space experiment using Photon M3 for the mission in September 2007., 資料番号: AA0063349004

Ice pillar, which means ice stalagmite linked to icicle in this paper, was formed in the cold room and the height of it was 185 cm. The growth processes of the ice pillar were estimated from the ice structures in the horizontal and vertical cross sections. The whole ice pillar consists of many ice crystals. Judging from the discontinuity of the ice structure, it can be presumed that the lower part of the ice pillar which had grown upward were linked to the upper part which had grown downward at around 170cm high. Either parts has different ice structure from the natural ice stalagmite or icicle, because too much water dropped intermittently and the air temperature in the cold room was too low during the ice pillar grew.

Absorption spectra of SiC particles embedded in KBr pellet have been measured and discussed on to band center change due to crystal structure and defects in crystal. 無重力環境中におけるガラス融体の浮遊実験結果より、地上では困難な室温のガラス状態から高温の溶融状態に至る体積変化、形状変化、生じた気泡や結晶の変化を観察することができた。搭載VTRのテープの画像処理の結果、400〜500度Cのガラス転移温度付近で体積の急激な増加がみられるなど当初期待していたガラスの温度-体積関係の結果が得られた。しかし、600度C以上の高温になると、大きな気泡の発生や結晶の生成など地上実験では予想しなかった現象が生じる結果となった。この原因について詳しく調べ、検討を行うことにより、今後の宇宙空間でのガラス製造･加工のための重要な知見が得られると考えられる。, The change of volume, shape, generated bubbles and crystal structure from glass state in room temperature to fused state in high temperature, which was difficult on ground surface, were successfully observed by floating experiment for fused glass under microgravity environment. The expected results for temperature-volume relation of glass such as rapid volume increase at from 400 to 500 C near glass transition temperature were obtained by image processing of a boarded VTR tape. However, phenomena unexpected in ground surface experiment caused such as generation of big bubbles or crystal growth at 600 C or higher. A crystalline complex of bis(benzophenone) azine (BBA), solvated by benzene in a BBA:benzene = 1:1 ratio, was isolated as yellow crystals, and its crystal structure was determined by single-crystal X-ray diffraction analysis at 223 K. The complex crystallizes in the triclinic crystal system in the space group P1 ( / 2) with the cell parameters a = 8.646(6)?, b = 9.096(5)?, c = 9.217(6)?, α = 78.01(2)°, β = 64.23(2)°, γ = 67.39(2)°, Z = 1, and V = 601.9(6)?3. Benzene is embedded in a channel running along the c-axis. The yellow color of the complex, in contrast to the colorless solvent-free crystals, is attributed to the planar geometry of the C=N-N=C moiety.
