This paper presents a comprehensive experiment within the interdisciplinary field of chemical biology, closely aligned with the cutting-edge of the discipline, deeply integrating science and education. Utilizing both chemical and biological methods within an in vitro biochemical reaction system, this study investigates effects of the natural antioxidant quercetin on the redox cycle of myeloperoxidase (MPO) within biological organisms. The mechanism of quercetin affecting the chlorination activity of MPO is clarified through molecular docking techiniques and a series of UV-Vis absorption spectroscopy. The implementation of this experiment aids in broadening students’ perspectives, igniting their interest in scientific research, and enhancing their comprehensive experimental abilities.
