In order to study the effects of peony flower enzyme residue on gastrointestinal pH and digestive enzyme activity of early-weaned weak-stiff piglets, a total of 100 27-day-old binary (Changbai × Dabai) early-weaned weak-stiff piglets were selected, the piglets were randomly divided into two groups with five replicates in each group and 10 piglets in each repeat. They began to adapt to the same basic diet at the age of 27 days, and the pre-trial period was three days and the formal experimental period was 14 days. The basal diet of the control group was the same as that of the test group, and the test group added the three percent peony flower enzyme residue. At the age of 43 days, two boars and two sows in each group were killed on an empty stomach, the pyloric valve, ileocecal valve and the boundary of the duodenum, jejunum and ileum were ligated quickly to separate the stomach and intestines. The results showed that the pH of stomach, jejunum and ileum in the experimental group was lower than that in the control group, but the difference was not significant (P>0.05). The activities of pepsin, duodenum trypsin and chymotrypsin in jejunum and ileum were significantly increased in the experimental group (P<0.05). The results indicated that the enzyme residues of peony flower could decrease the pH of stomach, jejunum and ileum, and enhance the activities of pepsin, chymotrypsin and duodenal trypsin of weaned-stiff weak piglets.
