- Abstract
Objective To explore the expression and clinical significance of CLDN8 in chromophobe renal cell carcinoma (chRCC). Methods The relevant datasets from Gene Expression Omnibus、Sequence Read Archive、ArrayExpress、TCGA、GTEx databases were collected. The expression levels of CLDN8 mRNA in chRCC and non chRCC tissues were analyzed. At the same time, the self purchased tissue microarray (In-house TMA dataset) was used to analyze the expression level of CLDN8 protein in chRCC and non chRCC tissues. The diagnostic efficacy of CLDN8 was analyzed by drawing the sROC curve. Results A total of 5 data sets were included. In TCGA-GTEx dataset, the expression level of CLDN8 mRNA in the chRCC tissues was higher than that in the non chRCC tissues, and the difference was statistically significant (P <0.05). In In-house TMA dataset, the expression level of CLDN8 protein in the chRCC tissues was significantly higher than that in the non chRCC tissues (P <0.000 1). The combined standardized mean difference of five data sets was 1.33 (95%CI:0.39-2.27). The area under sROC curve, sensitivity, specificity, positive likelihood ratio and negative likelihood ratio of CLDN8 in diagnosing chRCC were 0. 93, 0. 86, 0. 87, 6. 78 and 0. 17 respectively. Conclusion The overexpression of CLDN8 may be related to the formation and progression of chRCC. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
