The AP2/ERF transcription factor family contains 1-2 AP2/ERF domain（s）consisting of about 60 amino acids. It is divided into 5 subfamilies ：AP2（APETALA2), ethylene response factor（ERF), dehydration response element-binding protein（DREB), RAV, and Soloist, according to the number of AP2/ERF domains and whether they contain other domains. The family plays an important role in plant growth and development, and in response to biotic and abiotic stress. This paper briefly summarizes the structural function characteristics of AP2/ERF transcription factors and the research progress of AP2/ERF family proteins in plant growth and development and response to adversity in recent years.
