Objectives: The Greenland ice sheet is one of the main contributors to the global sea level rise, and the mass loss caused by its surface melting and meltwater runoff accounts for about 60% of the total mass loss of the ice sheet, so it is of great significance to study the surface melting of the Greenland ice sheet. Methods: Based on the 37 GHz vertical polarization passive microwave data of special sensor microwave imager sounder, the advanced diurnal amplitude variations (ADAV) method is proposed to detect the surface melting of the Greenland ice sheet. Results: Compared with the air temperature data of automatic weather stations, the average accuracy of the detection results of the ADAV method using dynamic threshold is better than that of the traditional diurnal amplitude variations method using a fixed threshold, and the passive microwave data time has no obvious influence on the detection accuracy. Conclusions: The freezethaw analysis of the Greenland ice sheet based on this method found that in 2019, the area with the most melting days on the ice sheet melted up to 165 d. The melting area reached the maximum on July 31st, accounting for 67% of the total ice sheet area. Three melting peaks arose in summer, and there were sever winter melting events on the south coast. The ADAV method and its application to high spatial resolution passive microwave data have promoted the development of refining ice sheet freezing and thawing observations. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Objectives: As a sensitive indicator of global changes such as ice sheet mass loss, sea level rise and climate change, supraglacial lakes play an important role in the study of ice sheet stability. Methods: U-Net is a semantic segmentation model, which extracts supraglacial lakes from Landsat satellite images in different situations. Results: The extraction of supraglacial lakes by U-Net possesses the optimal performance and efficiency. And the supraglacial lakes near the Sermeq Avannarleq Glacier in Greenland ice sheet are extracted from 2000 to 2020, and the seasonal and interannual variations of the area are analyzed. Conclusions: The area of supraglacial lakes starts to increase in mid-May, reaches the peak in the midlate-July, and almost disappears in September in a year. For the long time series change, the area of supra‐ glacial lakes in this region shows an increasing trend from 2000 to 2020, indicating that the amount of ice sheet melting is gradually increasing. Based on not only the survey report of the academic libraries services during the period of prevention and control of COVID-19 epidemic, which were written by the steering committees for academic libraries of 29 provinces, autonomous regions and municipalities directly under the central government in China, but also 11 university libraries' reports on how to support massive online teaching during this period, this paper summarized a series of emergency measures and innovative services for protecting the health of readers and librarians and ensuring the smooth development of online teaching and research in colleges and universities of China during the period of prevention and control of COVID-19 epidemic. The circulation data is a kind of unique, normative and continuous user data of the library. It shows the change of library resource utilization and the evolution of users' borrowing behavior, which is the basis for optimizing library services. Based on the circulation data of Peking University Library from 2009 to 2018, this paper explores the characteristics of users' borrowing behaviors such as time, theme, and popular authors through cluster analysis and time evolution analysis. The results show that in the past ten years, the library's circulation service has overcome the limitations of time and space to a certain extent, and the effect of promoting normalized services has been remarkable. The differences in reading among different types of books have been reduced, and the interdisciplinary reading has been continuously strengthened. The rising of popular authors is usually related to social events and reading promotion activities. Antarctic subglacial lakes form an important component of the subglacial hydrological system. The movements of some subglacial lakes have great impacts on subglacial hydrology, ice-flow velocity, mass balance of ice sheet and sea level changes. According to the deformation of the ice-sheet above the subglacial lakes, the repeat-track algorithm based on ICESat altimetry data was introduced to detect the height changes of subglacial lakes. Then simulative models were established to analyze the ice-sheet deformation caused by the different patterns of active subglacial lakes. Finally, the Aca-demy12 and CookE2 subglacial lakes were selected to analyze the actual application of the algorithm. The results show that the ice-sheet above the Academy12 and CookE2 subglacial lakes went up 6 m and went down 70 m respectively. All the altimetry data applied in the repeat-track algorithm is capable of detecting the right height changes when the height change patterns are steady. However, when there exists high variability of the height change patterns, the proper altimetry data should be adopted to calculate the topography in order to get the right height changes. A grounding line is the boundary between inland grounded ice sheet and a floating ice shelf and an important parameter in glacier dynamics. Precise extraction of the grounding line has a great impact on the Antarctic ice sheet mass balance and mathematical modeling of glacier dynamics. In this paper, the basic principles of grounding line extraction using DInSAR are introduced. The interference of ice flow on extraction of grounding line is removed by double differential SAR interferometry (DDInSAR) and the grounding line is detected through an interpretation of the inner of dense fringes induced by ocean tide in double differential SAR interferogram images. The mapping result is verified by comparing it to the Antarctic grounding line product, demonstrating that DDInSAR is an effective technique suitable for large-scale, continuous and high-precision grounding line extraction, thus laying a foundation for grounding line extraction and understanding of the dynamic changes in polar region. Satellite radar altimetry has been widely used to investigate the elevation change and mass balance in the polar region. Compared with traditional radar altimeters, CryoSat can not only provide a denser network of ground tracks but also higher measuring accuracy. However, the long orbit cycle (369 days) of CryoSat is less suited to the conventional cross-over technique that has been applied to longer time series. In this paper, a new method called the near repeat track is proposed and the related data preprocessing of Gross Error Elimination and Backscatter correction are also introduced, based on the data characteristics and the collaborative analysis between CryoSat and EnviSat. Using these methods, the elevation change in the PANDA transection of Antarctica from 2012 to 2014 was extracted and analysed. The result shows an ascending trend of 0.017±0.009m/a that agrees well with the result of other research along the inspection route in the PANDA transection. However, the accumulation of distribution is not uniform. To check the results, the elevation change as presented in this paper is compared with the field measurement data, and the same trend was obtained. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

The Grove Mountains area is a key study area in Chinese PANDA section of East Antarctica. Envisat ASAR images of 35 days interval were utilized to map the ice velocity in the Grove Mountains with DInSAR and offset-tracking methods. An ice velocity map of Grove Mountains displays complex motion features influenced by the widespread distribution of rocks and nunataks. We found two large ice streams bounding the Grove Mountains area, with a maximum velocity of 40 m/a. Some small ice streams flow between the nunataks in the area. GPS measurements and ice velocity MEaSUREs were applied to evaluate the accuracy, confirming the reliability of our results. Comparing winter ice velocities for the years 2006, 2007 and 2009, we detected no obvious interannual ice velocity changes in the Grove Mountains. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
