PPB(Polar Patrol Balloon)BETS(Balloon-borne Electron Telescope with Scintillating fibers)実験の準備が2002年12月の放球に向けて進んでいる。三陸沖で行っていたBETS実験では10〜100GeVの宇宙線電子の測定を行ったが、今回の実験では、約20日間のフライトが可能となる南極周回気球(PPB)を使うことで、低いフラックスとなるさらに高いエネルギー領域＞100GeVの電子の観測を行う。PPB-BETSの検出器は従来型のBETSの手法を継承し、高エネルギーの電子に対応するように改良した。ここでは、PPB-BETS検出器のデータ収集・処理系について紹介する。, 資料番号: AA0045439029

Abstract

Angrites are the oldest basalt in the solar system and comprise Angra dos Reis, LEW86010, LEW87051, and Asuka-881371. Each angrite exhibits different petrographical features. Angra dos Reis is homogeneous fassaitic pyroxenite indicating very slow cooling or extensive subsolidus equilibration. LEW86010 is glanular and cooled rather slowly as is clear from exsolution lamella of kirschsteinite in olivine. LEW87051 (porphyritic) and Asuka-881371 (ophitic) share several common characteristics in mineralogy. Especially they contain Cr-rich and Ca-poor olivine xenocrysts and can be considered to form under very similar condition, possibly near the surface of a shallow lava flow. Their differences in zoning profiles and grain sizes of groundmass would reflect different degree of melting by impact heating. Cooling of LEW87051 was the fastest, Asuka-881371 was a little slower, and LEW86010 cooled fairly slowly. Angra dos Reis is clearly different from the Antarctic angrites in many respects and can not be co-magmatic with them. Cosmic-ray exposure ages of four angrites suggest each angrite was derived by each different break-up event from the angrite parent body. Partial melting experiments of some chondrites and oxygen isotope studies suggest that both angrite and eucrite can be produced in the same parent body, however petrographic observation of HED (Howardite-Eucrite-Diogenite) meteorites does not support this hypothesis.
