- Abstract
Objective: To compare the presenteeism between chief nurses and nurses, and explore the related factors of nurses’ presenteeism. Methods: Taking departments as units,110 chief nurses and 660 nurses from 110 departments in 4 grade A hospitals in Henan province were surveyed. The Nurse Presenteeism Questionnaire (NPQ)was used to evaluate presenteeism of chief nurse and nurse, and the Leader Identification Questionnaire (LIQ) was used to evaluate nurses’ leader identification. A total of 98 valid questionnaires for chief nurses and 528 valid questionnaires for nurses were collected. Results: The NPQ scores were significantly higher in nurses than in chief nurses (P <0.01) .The NPQ scores were lower in the chief nurses with better health (P <0.05).The NPQ scores were higher in those married and with undergraduate education than in those unmarried and with college education or below, and lower in those with higher technical level and better health. The multilevel linear model showed that chief nurses "presenteeism had a significant positive correlation with nurses" presenteeism (γ=0.31,P <0.05),and leader identification could moderate the relationship between them (γ=0.30,P <0.05).Conclusion: It suggests that the chief nurses’ presenteeism could affect nurses’ presenteeism, and the leader identification may play a moderating effect between them.
