OBJECTIVE: On the basis of laws and policies of clinical pharmaceutical service,to preliminarily put forward the main contents of traditional Chinese medicine(TCM) clinical pharmaceutical service mode through hospital pharmaceutical practices and literature researches, so as to provide references for standardizing TCM clinical pharmaceutical service mode and promoting the cultivation of TCM clinical pharmacists. METHODS: Regulations and evaluation criteria of clinical pharmaceutical service were collected through searching websites of national medical institutions; 8-month pharmaceutical practice was conducted in China-Japan Friendship Hospital(hereinafter referred to as "our hospital"), then questionnaire survey was carried out on TCM clinical pharmaceutical students from other 12 hospitals; CNKI,Wanfang and VIP were retrieved for literature of TCM clinical pharmaceutical service mode in TCM hospitals and general hospital compared with our hospital, so that to conclude the main contents of TCM clinical pharmaceutical service. RESULTS:Related laws and policies in our country had supported clinical pharmaceutical service, while no "Pharmacists Law" was established yet; related regulation, literature and questionnaires showed that the TCM clinical pharmaceutical service in our hospital was in a relatively higher level; the main contents of TCM clinical pharmaceutical service can be divided into2 parts, including pharmaceutical skills(identification, processing, preparation, prescription and decoction) and pharmaceutical service(rational drug application,evidence-based pharmacy, information consultation,therapeutic drug monitoring and laboratory investigation). CONCLUSIONS: In order to better standardize TCM clinical pharmaceutical service mode and promote the cultivation of TCM clinical pharmacists, related regulations and policies need to be improved based on the preliminary main contents of TCM clinical pharmaceutical service [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
