Amaç: Bu çalışmada, çocuk hastalarda boyun bölgesindeki deri altı yağ dokusu kalınlığı ile nazofaringeal hava geçişi arasındaki ilişkinin manyetik rezonans görüntülemede (MRG) ile değerlendirilmesi amaçlanmıştır.Araçlar ve Yöntem: Çalışmamızda Haziran 2018 ile Aralık 2018 tarihleri arasında herhangi bir nedenle beyin manyetik rezonans görüntüleme (MRG) yapılan 4-6 yaş arası 93 çocuğun (46 erkek ve 47 kadın) tıbbi görüntüleme kayıtları adenoid doku kalınlığı ve oksipital deri altı yağ dokusu kalınlığının değerlendirilmesi amacıyla geriye dönük olarak incelendi. Bu amaçla hastalardan son bir yıl içinde alınan tek düzlemli (sagital düzlem) hızlı sıralı MRG görüntüleri kullanıldı.Bulgular: Çalışmaya 46(%49.5) erkek ve 47(%50.5) kadın olmak üzere toplam 93 olgu dahil edildi. Cinsiyete göre nazofaringeal adenoid doku kalınlıkları ile oksipital bölge subkutan yağ doku kalınlıkları arasında istatistiksel olarak anlamlı bir fark gözlen-medi. Ortalama adenoid doku kalınlığı erkeklerde 9.8±2.13 mm iken kadınlarda 9.25±1.74 mm olarak ölçüldü (p=0.178). Oksipi-tal bölgeden elde edilen ortalama deri altı yağ dokusu kalınlığı erkeklerde 5.65±1.26 mm, kadınlarda ise 5.84±1.28 mm olarak bulundu (p=0.465). Ancak, oksipital deri altı yağ dokusu kalınlığı, adenoid doku kalınlığı (Rho=0.488 p=0.000) ve nazofaringeal hava yolu darlığı yüzdesi (Rho=0.482 p=0.000) arasında orta derecede pozitif korelasyon bulundu.Sonuç: Oksipital subkutan yağ dokusu kalınlığı ve adenoid doku kalınlığı arttıkça nazofaringeal hava yolunun önemli ölçüde daraldığı gözlendi., Purpose: In this study, it was aimed to evaluate the relationship between subcutaneous fat tissue thickness in the neck region and nasopharyngeal air passage in pediatric patients with magnetic resonance imaging (MRI).Materials and Methods: In our study, medical imaging records of 93 children (46 male and 47 female) aged between 4-6 years, who underwent brain magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) for any reason between June 2018 and December 2018, were retrospec-tively examined on the purpose of evaluation of adenoid tissue thickness and occipital subcutaneous fat tissue thickness. Single plane (sagittal plane) rapid sequence MRI images taken from the patients within the last one year were used for this purpose.Results: A total of 93 cases, 46(49.5%) male and 47(50.5%) female, were included in the study. No statistically significant differ-ence was observed in nasopharyngeal adenoid tissue thickness and occipital region subcutaneous fat tissue thicknesses according to gender. While the mean adenoid tissue thickness was 9.8±2.13 mm in men, it was measured as 9.25±1.74 mm in women (p=0.178). The mean subcutaneous fat tissue thickness obtained from the occipital region was 5.65±1.26 mm in male, whereas it was found to be 5.84±1.28 mm in women (p=0.465). However, a significant moderate positive correlation was found between the occipital subcutaneous fat tissue thickness, adenoid tissue thickness (Rho=0.488 p=0.000) and the percentage of nasopharyngeal air passage stenosis (Rho=0.482 p=0.000).Conclusion: The nasopharyngeal air passage was observed to be significantly narrowed as occipital subcutaneous fat tissue thickness and adenoid tissue thickness increased.

Objectives:In our study, we aimed to evaluate the correlation and differences betweencontrast-enhanced Computed Tomography(CT) and TransabdominalUltrasonography(TAUS) in the prostate volume measurement.Material and Methods: Fiftypatients were included in this study who had prostate volume measurementsperformed by transabdominal ultrasonography and undergone contrast-enhanced computed tomography at the same period,between January 2015 and May 2017. Ultrasonographic (US) volume measurementswere retrospectively scanned. Prostate volumes were calculated by usingellipsoidal formula on three planes of abdominal CT images of these patients.The values of prostate volumes obtained in US and CT were statistically analyzed.Results: The mean age of thecases was calculated as 60,52 ± 13,77. The median value of the volume ofprostate in CT and US calculated 42 cc and 36 cc, respectively. Bu hastaların Batın BT görüntülerinden görüntülerinde üç plandaelipsoid formül kullanılarak prostat volümleri değerlendirildi. US ve BTprostat volümleri istatistiksel olarak analiz edildi. Styloid proçes kulak yapısını oluşturan temporal kemiğin silindirik şekilli parçasıdır. Normal uzunluğu yaşa ve cinsiyete göre değişmekle birlikte 30 mm yi geçmemektedir. SP açılanması ise son dönemde ilişkili olduğu düşünülen hastalıklarda etiyolojik olarak anlamlı bulunmaktadır. Kronik otit, orta kulağın ve mastoid hücrelerin kronik enflamasyonudur. Kronik otit etiyolojisinde östaki disfonksiyonu, östaki tıkanıklığına neden olan etkenler(Adenoid vejetasyon vs.) ve temporal kemiğin anatomik yapısı rol oynamaktadır. Bu çalışmada tek taraflı kronik otiti olan hastalarda, kronik otitli taraf ile normal taraftaki SP'nin anterior ve mediale açılanmasının, kronik otitin en önemli etiyolojisinden olan östaki disfonksiyonu yaparak KOM' a sebep olup olmadığını araştırmayı amaçladık.T.C. Sağlık Bakanlığı İstanbul Şişli Hamidiye Etfal Eğitim ve Araştırma Hastanesi Radyoloji Bölümü arşivinden alınan çok kesitli Temporal Kemik Bilgisayarlı Tomografi (BT) görüntüleri (Toshiba Medical Systems, Multislice CT Sistemi, AlexionTM / Advance Edition) kullanıldı. Tek taraflı KOM'u olan 18-65 yaş arası 100 hasta (51 Erkek 49 Kadın) çalışmaya dahil edildi. Görüntülerden koronal plan üzerinde SP'nin mediale açılanması, sagital planda anteriora açılanması ölçüldü.Çalışmaya dahil edilen olgu sayısı toplam 100 dür. Dahil edilen olguların 51'i erkek (%51), 49'u (%49) kadındır. 54 olguda (%54) patoloji sağ tarafta, 46 olguda ise (%46) sol taraftadır. Çalışmaya dahil edilen olguların yaş ortalaması 42,82±12,6, minimum yaş 18, maksimum yaş ise 65'tir. 51 erkek olgunun 31'inde patoloji sağda, 20'sinde patoloji solda tespit edilmiştir. 49 kadın olgunun ise 23 tanesinde patoloji sağda, 26 olguda ise solda izlenmiştir. Erkeklerde sağda daha fazla, kadınlarda ise solda daha fazla patoloji saptanma sıklığı izlenmiştir. Cinsiyet ile patoloji tespit edilen tarafın karşılaştırılmasında anlamlı ilişki saptanmamıştır (p=0.165). Patoloji saptanan tarafta medial açılanma ortalama 21,89± 6,6, minimum 9, maksimum 39,2; normal tarafta medial açılanma ortalama 21,37± 6,21, minimum 8,5, maksimum 40,1 saptanmış olup aradaki fark istatistiksel olarak anlamlı değildir (p=0,71). Patoloji saptanan tarafta anterior açılanma ortalama 24,64± 8,56, minimum 5,1, maksimum 44,2; normal tarafta anterior açılanma ortalama 24,99± 8,1, minimum 7,6, maksimum 43,9 saptanmış olup aradaki fark istatistiksel olarak anlamlı değildir (p=0,807).Çalışmamızda KOM ile SP anterior ve medial açılanması arasında istatistiksel olarak anlamlı ilişki saptanmamıştır. The styloid process is the cylindrical shaped part of the temporal bone that forms the ear structure. Normal length varies according to age and gender, but does not exceed 30 mm. The angulation of SP is found to be etiologically significant in diseases that are thought to be related recently. Chronic otitis media(COM) is a chronic inflammation of the middle ear and mastoid cells. Eustachi dysfunction, factors causing Eustachian obstruction (Adenoid vegetation etc.) and anatomical structure of temporal bone play a role in chronic otitis etiology. In this study, we aimed to investigate whether the angulation of the anterior and medial angulation of the normal side with the chronic otitis side and the SP on the anterior and medial side causes COM by making eustachian dysfunction, which is the most important etiology of chronic otitis.Multislice Temporal Bone Computed Tomography (CT) images (Toshiba Medical Systems, Multislice CT System, AlexionTM / Advance Edition) taken from the archives of the T.C Ministry of Health Istanbul Şişli Hamidiye Etfal Training and Research Hospital Radiology Department. 100 patients (51 Male, 49 Female) aged 18-65 with unilateral COM were included in the study. From the images, the angulation of the SP to the medial on the coronal plan and the angulation to the anterior to the sagittal plane were measured.Total number of cases included in the study is 100. 51 of the cases included were male (51%) and 49 (49%) were female. Pathology is on the right side in 54 cases (54%) and on the left side in 46 cases (46%). The average age of the cases included in the study is 42.82 ± 12.6, the minimum age is 18 and the maximum age is 65. Pathology was detected on the right in 31 of 51 male cases and pathology on the left in 20 of them. Pathology was observed on the right in 23 of 49 female cases and on the left in 26 cases. The frequency of detection of more pathology was observed in men on the right and in women on the left. No significant correlation was found in comparison of the side with gender and pathology (p = 0.165). On the side with pathology, medial angulation was 21.89 ± 6.6, minimum 9, maximum 39.2; On the normal side, an average of 21.37 ± 6.21, a minimum of 8.5 and a maximum of 40.1 were detected, and the difference was not statistically significant (p = 0.71). On the side with pathology, the anterior angulation was 24.64 ± 8.56, minimum 5.1, maximum 44.2; On the normal side, anterior angulation was determined as 24.99 ± 8.1, minimum 7.6, maximum 43.9, and the difference was not statistically significant (p = 0.807).In our study, no statistically significant relationship was found between COM and SP anterior and medial angulations.
