Erken evrende gerçekleştiği düşünülen ve ivmelenerek genişleme dönemi olan enflasyon, hem evrenin büyük ölçekte homojenlik, düzlük gibi genel özelliklerinin anlaşılmasına yardımcı olması hem de evrendeki yapılara evrilecek ilksel yoğunluk tedirgemelerini oluşturması nedeniyle genel olarak standart kozmolojinin bir parçası olarak görülmektedir. Şimdiye kadar çoğu inflaton denen enflasyona yol açtığı varsayılan skaler alana dayanan birçok enflasyon modeli ortaya atılmış olup, bu modellerin öngörüleri son yıllarda çok daha hassas hale gelen kozmik mikrodalga fon ışınımı (KMFI) sıcaklık anizotropileri ve polarizasyonu gözlemleriyle test edilmektedir. Bu tez çalışmasında, inflaton ile Ricci skaleri arasındaki etkileşim teriminin gözlemsel etkilerini araştırmak amaçlanmıştır. Enflasyon modellerinin test edilmesinde kullanılan spektral indis, tensör-skaler oranı, spektral indisin eğimi gibi gözlemsel parametrelerin sözkonusu minimal olmayan çiftlenim terimine bağlı olarak nasıl değiştiği ve bu terimin varlığında gözlemlerin hangi modelleri desteklediği incelenecektir. Özel olarak bu çalışmada, simetri kırınımıyla ilişkilendirilen Coleman-Weinberg, çift-kuyu(Higgs / Landau-Ginzburg) ve küçük alan enflasyon potansiyelleri incelencektir. Sözkonusu bu potansiyeller büyük birleşme gruplarının standart modele kırılmasıyla ilişkili olabileceğinden parçacık fiziği yönünden yüksek motivasyona sahiptir. İncelenecek bir diğer potansiyel ise Higgs enflasyonu modeliyle tekrar ön plana çıkmış olan minimal olmayan çiftlenimli kuartik potansiyeldir. Güncel verilerle uyumlu ve diğer potansiyel türlerine göre sadeliğiyle dikkat çeken bu potansiyelde, inflatonun başka parçacıklara evrenin radyasyon baskın hale gelmesini sağlayacak şekilde çiftlenmesinin etkilerine bakılacaktır. Inflation, which is an accelerated expansion period considered to occur in the early Universe, is usually regarded as a part of standard cosmology since it both helps explain general properties of the Universe such as flatness and large scale homogeneity, and it leads to the primordial density perturbations that evolve into the structures in the Universe. Up to now many inflationary models have been introduced with most of them depending on a scalar field called the inflaton. Predictions of these models are being tested by the cosmic microwave background radiation (CMBR) temperature anisotropies and polarization observations that have become even more sensitive in recent years. This thesis aims to explore the observational effects of the interaction term between the Ricci scalar and the inflaton. It will be examined how the observational parameters such as the spectral index, the tensor-to-scalar ratio, and the tilt of the spectral index that are used to test inflationary models are supported by the observations in the presence of this term.Coleman-Weinberg, double-well (Higgs / Landau-Ginzburg) and small field inflation models which are associated with symmetry breaking are among the potentials to be examined in particular as part of this thesis. These potentials are highly motivated from a particle physics viewpoint since they can be related with the breaking of grand unification groups to the standard model. Another potential to be studied is the non-minimally coupled quartic potential that recently became popular with the Higgs inflation model and it is one of the simplest potentials that agree with the current data. For this potential, effects of inflaton couplings to other particles required for the Universe to become radiation dominated will be analyzed. 195
