The aim of neonatal pain management is to reduce pain and help the baby cope with pain.This study aimed to determine the effect of Helfer skin tap technique (HSTT) on hepatitis B vaccine intramuscular (IM) injection pain in neonetes.Randomized controlled study SETTING: This study was conducted with neonatal infants born vaginally in the delivery room of a state hospital in Turkey.This study was conducted total 60 neonates including 30 in the HSTT group and 30 in the Routine Technique (RT) group.Participants were randomized into the HSTT group and the Routine Technique (RT) group.Data were collected using a questionnaire form and the Neonatal Infant Pain Scale (NIPS).While the means of the total pain scores in the HSTT group were found to be 1.73 ± 2.04 during injection and 1.73 ± 0.98 after injection, in the RT group, the mean scores were 5.56 ± 0.92 during injection and 4.90 ± 1.25 after injection. The difference between the groups arising in the comparison of means of the total pain scores obtained during and after injection in HSTT and RT groups was determined to be statistically significant (p0.05).In conclusion, HSTT was proven to be effective in reducing hepatitis B vaccine intramuscular (IM) injection pain in neonates. This study demonstrates that HSTT is associated with reduced pain in newborns during hepatitis B vaccine IM injections.

Mesleki kimlik oluşumu ve gelişimi mesleki sosyalleşme süreci içerisinde gerçekleşmektedir. Hemşirelik öğrencileri eğitimleri süresince; ait olmayı istedikleri mesleğin normlarını, değerlerini, davranışlarını, tutumlarını ve kültürünü öğrenirler. Bir mesleğin üyesi olarak kimlik oluşturma süreci, hemşirelik çalışmalarına başlamadan önce eğitim sırasında ve mezun olduktan sonra hemşirelerin yaşamları boyunca gerçekleşir. Eğitim dönemi kimlik geliştirme sürecinin anahtarıdır ve bu süreçte mesleki kimliği etkileyen faktörler mesleki kimliği geliştirmekte ve sürekli gelişimini şekillendirmektedir. Hemşirelikte mesleki kimliği anlamak; hemşirelik eğitim müfredatlarını değerlendirmek, hemşirelik eğitiminde ve öğrencilikten profesyonel hemşireliğe geçiş boyunca değerlerin sürekli gelişimi için fırsatları belirlemek, hemşirelerin mesleki kimliklerini nasıl oluşturduklarına ve bunun test edilip güçlendirilmesi yoluyla hemşireliğin meslek olarak gelişimi için çok önemlidir. Ayrıca mesleki kimliği anlamak meslekleşme standartlarını karşılamada yol göstericidir. Hemşirelikte mesleki kimliği anlamak olumlu mesleki kimlik gelişimini sağlayarak yalnızca hemşirelere değil, aynı zamanda hastalara ve diğer sağlık çalışanlarına da yarar sağlayacaktır.

Objective: This research aimed to explore the compassion satisfaction, compassion fatigue and burnout levels of nurses and the correlations between these variables. Materials and Methods: The research used a correlational descriptive cross-sectional design. This research was conducted with 185 nurses in a state hospital in the Central Anatolia region of Turkey between October-November 2018. Data were collected using a questionnaire form and the professional quality of life scale. Results: Nurses' compassion satisfaction was found to be low, their compassion fatigue was high, and their burnout was moderate. A negative, weak, and significant correlation was found between compassion satisfaction and compassion fatigue. There was a negative, weak, and insignificant correlation between compassion satisfaction and burnout, while a positive and highly significant correlation was found between compassion fatigue and burnout. Conclusions: Some intervention programs can be developed to reduce high levels of compassion fatigue among nurses. Also, stressors in the care environment/medium can be identified, and nurses’ exposure to these stressors can be prevented. Thus, compassion fatigue and burnout reduced, compassion satisfaction can be increased.

Nurses make up the largest group of healthcare professionals fighting Covid-19, and they frequently face patients with Covid-19 from hospitalisation to discharge. For this reason, they are exposed to several psychological pressures and occupational hazards. This study aimed to determine the relationship between death anxiety and commitment to the profession in nurses providing nursing care for patients with Covid-19 in Turkey. Araştırma, bir Mesleki Eğitim Merkezi’nde öğrenim gören öğrencilerin ilk yardım bilgi düzeyini belirlemek ve sunulan eğitimin etkinliğini değerlendirmek amacıyla yapıldı. Kesitsel ve yarı deneysel nitelikte olan çalışmanın örneklemini, Mesleki Eğitim Merkezi’ne kayıtlı olan ve aynı zamanda bir yüksek riskli teknoloji kolunda çırak olarak çalışan 80 öğrenci oluşturdu. İlk yardım soru formu, öğrencilere; eğitim öncesi, eğitimden hemen sonra ve eğitimden altı ay sonra olmak üzere üç ölçüm zamanında uygulandı. Öğrenciler, haftada üç gün art arda interaktif eğitim teknikleri kullanılarak verilen ilk yardım eğitimine tabi tutuldu. Eğitim sonrası birinci ve üçüncü aylarda öğrencilere WhatsApp grubu üzerinden ilk yardıma yönelik bilgi mesajları gönderildi. Objective: Nursing education is a process carried out in class, skills lab and clinical environment. Clinical practice covers at least half of the nursing education and allows the theoretical knowledge taught in the class to be put into practice and patient care. Clinical practice in health care environment is the basis of nursing education. Determining the obstacles of clinical nurses in participating in the education of students and finding solutions to these obstacles are very important in terms of the effectiveness of the nursing education process. In this research, it was aimed to determine the hinders for the participation of nurses working in a state hospital to the education of student nurses.Methods: The research was carried out in a descriptive manner to determine the hinders to participation of clinical nurses in the training of nursing students. The sample of the study consisted of 150 nurses working at a State Hospital. The data were collected by a survey form designed to identify the nurse's descriptive characteristics and the hinders to participation in the training of the nursing students. The data were evaluated in SPSS 22.0 program with numbers and percentage values. Results: According to the results of the study, 46.7% of the nurses stated as a hinder to participation to training of nursing students that the students did not make effort to learn the subjects and skills that should be learned in the clinic from the clinical nurse, 60.7% of the nurses stated the higher number of students as a hinder to participation to training of nursing students , 42.2% of the nurses stated absence of some instructors in the clinic as a hinder to participation to training of nursing students and 36.0% of the nurses stated that the inadequate physical environment of the hospital was an hinder to participation in student training. Conclusion: It was determined that the nurse-originated hinders were less than student-originated hinders in nurses' participation in the training of the nursing students., Amaç: Hemşirelik eğitimi, sınıfta, beceri laboratuvarında ve klinik ortamda gerçekleştirilen bir süreçtir. Klinik uygulama hemşirelik eğitiminin en az yarısını kapsar ve sınıfta öğretilen teorik bilgilerin uygulamaya, hasta bakımına geçirilmesine olanak sağlar. Sağlık bakım ortamlarında klinik uygulama hemşirelik eğitiminin temelidir. Klinik hemşirelerinin, öğrencilerin eğitimine katılımdaki engellerinin belirlenmesi ve bu engellere çözüm üretilmesi hemşirelik eğitim sürecinin etkinliği bakımından oldukça önemlidir. Bu araştırmada, bir devlet hastanesinde çalışan hemşirelerin öğrenci hemşirelerin eğitimine katılımına engel olan durumların belirlenmesi amaçlanmıştır.Yöntem: Araştırma klinik hemşirelerinin, öğrenci hemşirelerinin eğitimine katılımlarındaki engellerin belirlenmesi amacıyla tanımlayıcı tipte yapılmıştır. Araştırmanın örneklemini Nevşehir Devlet Hastanesi’nde çalışan 150 hemşire oluşturmuştur. Veriler hemşirelerin tanıtıcı özellikleri ve öğrenci hemşirelerinin eğitimine katılımlarındaki engellerin belirlenmesi amacıyla hazırlanan anket formu ile toplanmıştır. Veriler SPSS 22.0 programında sayı ve yüzde olarak değerlendirilmiştir. Bulgular: Araştırma sonucuna göre, hemşirelerin %46.7’si öğrencinin klinikte öğrenmesi gereken konu ve becerileri klinik hemşiresinden öğrenmek için kendisinin çabalamamasını, %60.7’si öğrenci sayısının fazla olmasını, %42.2’si bazı öğretim elemanlarının klinikte yeterince bulunmamasını, %36.0’sı hastane fiziki ortamının yetersiz olmasını öğrenci eğitimine katılmada engel olarak ifade etmiştir. Sonuç: Hemşirelerin öğrenci hemşirelerin eğitimine katılımında hemşirelerden kaynaklanan engellerin daha az, öğrencilerden kaynaklanan engellerin ise daha fazla olduğu belirlenmiştir.

The aim of this study is to investigate that nursing profession perceptions of nursing students. This research is a descriptive study. No population sampling was performed. Out 334 of 1st and 4th year nursing students studying in two university school of health nursing departments in Turkey volunteered to answer data collection forms and the study population consisted of these 322 nursing students. As the data gathering tools, a questionnaire form and Perception of Nursing Profession Scale (PNPS) were used. The scale has 2 sub-scales: “Professional Qualities” and “Professional Statute”. The research was conducted in accordance with ethical principles and volunteers. Statistical analyses were performed using the percentage, mean, cronbach’s alpha, independent sample t test, one-way ANOVA, and LSD post hoc test. Cronbach’s alpha of professional qualities subscale was 0,95, professional statute subscale was 0,79, and total PNPS was 0,94. The mean age of the students was 20,29±1,98 years (Range: 17-34) and 69,9% of them were females. It was also found that 66,1% of the nursing students preferred nursing department among their first preferences. When the distribution of students’ view and thought about nursing is considered, it detected that 6,2% of them did not like nursing and 36,6% of them wanted to work in manager position after graduation. Besides it has been determined that their opinions had turned to positive after came to this school the opinions 42,9% of students nursing. It was found that PNPS total score mean for students nursing was 84,04±19,10. The current study aimed to compare the effects of foot reflexology and warm foot-bath on improving sleep quality in older adults. Participants were randomized to the foot reflexology group ( n = 50) or warm footbath group ( n = 50). Data were collected using a Descriptive Information Form and the Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index (PSQI). Foot reflexology was applied 30 minutes twice per week for 6 weeks. Warm foot-bath was applied 1 hour before bedtime every evening for 6 weeks. Comparison of mean total scores from the PSQI before and after reflexology indicated that mean postintervention total scores decreased significantly compared to preintervention scores ( p < 0.05). Comparison of PSQI mean total scores before and after warm footbath indicated that mean postintervention total scores decreased significantly compared to preintervention scores ( p < 0.05). Comparison of PSQI mean scores of the reflexology and warm footbath groups showed no significant difference between groups in terms of the variance in mean scores ( p > 0.05). Aim: Endotracheal aspiration is one of the most common invasive procedures administered by intensive care nurses in patients receiving mechanical ventilation to provide and maintain adequate oxygenation, alveolar ventilation, and gas exchange, prevent pulmonary consolidation and atelectasis, and reduce the risk of ventilator-associated pneumonia. When the endotracheal aspiration procedure is not administered correctly, the patient may have serious complications such as arterial and venous desaturation, cardiac arrhythmia, cardiac arrest, atelectasis, bronchospasm, lower respiratory tract contamination, ventilator-induced pneumonia, anxiety, and dyspnea. The study aims to evaluate the knowledge and behaviors of nurses working in intensive care units for endotracheal aspiration applications.Methods: This study used a cross-sectional and descriptive design including a questionnaire-based nurse survey. It was conducted between 17 March 2015-30 June 2015 with 54 nurses working in intensive care units in a public hospital. In the study, the data were collected with a questionnaire, endotracheal aspiration information form, and nurse observation form for endotracheal aspiration. The evaluation of the data was conducted using numbers and percentages. The ethics committee approval, institutional permission, and participant consent were obtained before starting the research.Results: It was determined that the nurses participating in the study were incompetent before, during, and after the endotracheal aspiration procedure and that they did not have sufficient information about endotracheal aspiration.Conclusion: In line with the results of the study, it was suggested that the nurses should be trained on endotracheal aspiration, the effect of education on practice should be evaluated, and that standardization studies should be carried out to minimize deficient and erroneous practices in endotracheal aspiration., Amaç: Mekanik ventilasyondaki hastalarda yeterli oksijenasyon, alveoler ventilasyon, gaz değişimini sağlamak ve sürdürmek, pulmoner konsolidasyon ve atelektaziyi önlemek, ventilatör ilişkili pnömoni riskini azaltmak amacı ile yoğun bakım hemşirelerinin en sık uyguladığı invaziv işlemlerden biri endotrakeal aspirasyon uygulamasıdır. Endotrakeal aspirasyon işlemi doğru yapılmadığında hastada arteriyel ve venöz desatürasyon, kardiyak aritmi, kardiyak arrest, atelektazi, bronkospazm, alt solunum yolları kontaminasyonu, ventilatöre bağlı pnömoni, anksiyete ve dispne gibi ciddi komplikasyonlara yol açabilir. Araştırma yoğun bakım ünitelerinde çalışan hemşirelerin endotrakeal aspirasyon uygulamasına yönelik bilgi ve davranışlarının değerlendirilmesini amaçlamaktadır. Yöntemler: Tanımlayıcı türde olan kesitsel, anket tabanlı hemşirelik araştırması bir devlet hastanesindeki yoğun bakım ünitelerinde çalışan 54 hemşireyle, 17 Mart 2015 - 30 Haziran 2015 tarihleri arasında yapıldı. Araştırmada veriler kişisel bilgi formu, endotrakeal aspirasyon bilgi formu ve endotrakeal aspirasyona ilişkin hemşire gözlem formu ile toplandı. Verilerin değerlendirilmesi sayı ve yüzdelik ile yapıldı. Araştırmaya başlamadan önce etik kurul, kurum izni ve katılımcı onamları alındı. Bulgular: Araştırmaya katılan hemşirelerin endotrakeal aspirasyon işlemi öncesi, sırası ve sonrası uygulamalarının yetersiz olduğu, endotrakeal aspirasyon konusunda yeterli bilgiye sahip olmadıkları belirlendi. Sonuçlar: Araştırmanın sonuçları doğrultusunda, hemşirelere endotrakeal aspirasyon konusunda eğitimin verilmesi ve eğitimin uygulamaya etkisinin değerlendirilmesi, endotrakeal aspirasyonda yapılan hataları, eksik uygulamaları en aza indirmek amacıyla uygulamaya yönelik standardizasyon çalışmalarının yapılması önerildi.

Introduction: Intramuscular (IM) injection is a frequently used nursing practice in clinical practice. IM injection is a complex process that requires technical competence and effective decision-making in terms of the tools and methods involved. Despite the therapeutic effect of IM injection, it may cause pain and discomfort in patients. This study was carried out to determine the effect of the ShotBlocker application on intramuscular injection-induced pain. Methods: This is a randomized controlled study. The study data were collected between November and December 2018. Data were collected using a questionnaire and Visual Analog Scale (VAS). The patients were randomized into two groups as experimental group and control groups. The study was completed with 176 patients including 88 patients in the experimental group and 88 patients in the control group. Results: The mean VAS scores of the experimental and control groups were 1.2 ± 1.3 and 1.1 ± 1.6, respectively. No significant difference was found between the mean VAS scores of the experimental and control groups (p> 0.05). Conclusion: The results of the study indicated that administration of IM injection in adults using ShotBlocker did not reduce the severity of pain.

Objective: The purpose of this study was to determine the effects of Helfer skin tap technique (HSTT) on pain depending on intramuscular (IM) injection. Methods: The study was randomized controlled study in the injection polyclinic between September 18 and December 9 2017. The study was completed with totally 100 patients, 50 of them in the experimental group and 50 of them in the control group. The IM injection was applied to the experimental group by HSTT and to the control group by standard technique. Data were collected using a questionnaire and Visual Analog Scale (VAS). Results: The mean VAS score was differ between groups. The VAS score reduced significantly after HSTT intervention in experimental group whereas reduction was not significant in control group. Conclusions: The study showed that HSTT was effective on pain depending on IM injection.

Introduction: The treatment of Osteoarthritis (OA) includes pharmacologic and non-pharmacologic methods. In getting no response to traditional medical treatment it causes the use of effective and confident treatment of OA and as a result patients tend to use Complementary and Alternative Medicine (CAM).Methods: This study which is a descriptive type has been done on patients with OA in case of defining the use of CAM. This study has been done on patients who applied to physical therapy polyclinics. The sample of the study covers 77 patients with OA. In accumulating the data questionnaire form has been used. The data were evaluated by computer, percentage and chi-square. Results: In our study it has been found out that 23.4% of OA patients used CAM. In applying CAM methods it has been determined that 66.6% used massage, 38.8% used diet and 33% used music. 83.3% of patients using CAM with the notice of a doctor whereas 16.7% without it. Amaç: Tanımlayıcı tipte olan bu araştırma Diabetus Mellitus (DM)’lu hastaların Tamamlayıcı Alternatif Tedavi (TAT) kullanma durumlarının belirlenmesi amacıyla yapıldı.Gereç ve Yöntem: Araştırma dahiliye polikliniğine başvuran DM’lu hastalarla yapıldı. Araştırma örneklemini 01 Ocak 2013-01 Şubat 2013 tarihleri arasında İç Anadolu Bölgesinde bir Devlet Hastanesi dahiliye polikliniğine başvuran 152 DM tanısı olan hasta oluşturdu. Verilerin toplanmasında anket formu kullanıldı. Veriler Statistical Package for Social Sciences (SPSS) 20.0 paket programı ile sayı-yüzde ve ki-kare testi kullanılarak değerlendirildi. Bulgular: Çalışmada DM’lu hastaların %27.6’sının TAT kullandığı, %20.4’sinin kullandığı TAT yönteminin diyet desteği olduğu, % 78.5’inin kan şekeri ölçümlerinde kan şekerinin düştüğünü gözlemlediği, cinsiyet, yaş, medeni durum, eğitim durumu, doğum yeri, gelir durumu, meslek, ikamet yeri, aile tipi ve DM dışında kronik hastalık bulunma durumu ile TAT kullanma durumu arasında istatistiksel olarak anlamlı ilişki bulunmamıştır(p>0.05).Sonuç: DM’lu hastalar TAT yöntemi kullanmaktadır. Hastaların TAT konusunda bilgilendirilmesi, sağlık personeline TAT yöntemleri konusunda hizmet içi eğitimler verilmesi, bunun yanı sıra kullanılan TAT yöntemlerinin kan glikoz düzeyi üzerine etkilerinin belirlenmesi amacıyla ileri araştırmalar yapılması önerilebilir., Objective: This descriptive study was carried out to explore the use of complementary and alternative treatment a (CAT) in patients with Diabetes Mellitus (DM). Materials and Methods: The study was carried out with a sample of 152 patients who presented to the outpatient clinic for internal diseases at Nevşehir State Hospital between 01 January 2013 and 01 February 2013 and who were diagnosed with DM. The data collected using a questionnaire were analyzed with the Statistical Package for Social Sciences (SPSS) 20.0 package program employing numbers and percentages and the chi-square test.Results: This study found that 27.6% of the patients with DM used CAT, the CAT used by 20.4% of them consisted of dietary support and the blood sugar level was observed to drop in 78.5% of them during their glucose measurements. Gender, age, marital status, education, place of birth, income status, occupation, place of residence, family type and having a chronic disease besides DM were not found to correlate with CAT usage (p>0.005). Conclusion: Patients with DM use the CAT method. We can suggest that patients should be informed about CAT, health professionals should be provided in-service training on CAT methods and further research should be carried out to investigate the effect of CAT methods used on the blood glucose levels.

INTRODUCTION: The aim of this study was to determine the relationship between nursing students’ critical thinking disposition and autonomy levels. METHODS: The descriptive-relationship seeking study was conducted with 288 nursing students in the nursing department of a state university. Data were collected by using the Descriptive Characteristics Information Form, which included socio-demographic characteristics, California Critical Thinking Disposition Scale and Sociotropy-Autonomy Scale. Data were analyzed by number, percentage, mean, standard deviation and Pearson correlation tests. RESULTS: It was found that the students’ mean autonomy subscale of Sociotropy-Autonomy Scale score was 87.43±11.27 and the overall mean score of critical thinking disposition was 232.52±23.30. There was a statistically significant positive correlation between the students› overall mean scores of California Critical Thinking Disposition Scale and autonomy subscale scores of Sociotropy-Autonomy Scale (r = 0.526, p

Writing is a powerful way of learning. Writing may provide students with opportunities to think by discussion and use higher-level thinking skills to answer complicated problems. The purpose of this study is to understand whether keeping written patient care logs has an effect on improving the critical thinking skills of nursing students. This study used a quasi-experimental, pretest-posttest design. The sample of the study consisted of 69 students who were registered for the course Fundamentals of Nursing, agreed to participate in the study and filled out the California Critical Thinking Disposition Inventory (CCTDI) completely. The study was conducted with students who were participating in clinical practice of the 1st-year course Fundamentals of Nursing in the spring semester of the academic year of 2016-2017. The pretest was carried out on the first day of clinical practice by applying a questionnaire form and the CCTDI with the students. Throughout the clinical practice, the students kept written logs at the end of each day of practice. The posttest was carried out on the last day of clinical practice by applying the CCTDI with the students. Wilcoxon signed-rank test was used to compare the results of the pretest and the posttest. The mean pretest critical thinking disposition score of the students was found as 214.71 ± 20.17, while their mean score in the posttest was found as 219.13 ± 23.96. The difference between the mean pretest and posttest critical thinking disposition scores was statistically significant. As a result of this study, it was found that the mean critical thinking scores of the students were not on a desired level but keeping written patient care logs affected the improvement of their critical thinking skills positively.

Aim: This study was planned and carried out to determine how teamwork attitudes of nurses working in surgical clinics affect their caring behaviors. Materials and Methods: The research was conducted as a relational descriptive study. The research population consisted of 126 nurses working in the surgical clinics of a state hospital. A total of 116 nurses who agreed to participate in the study were admitted to the study. Data were collected using the Descriptive Characteristics Question Form, the Teamwork Attitudes Questionnaire (TAQ), and the Caring Behaviors Inventory-24 (CBI-24). Data were analyzed using counts, percentage distributions, Mann–Whitney U test, and Kruskal–Wallis tests, Games–Howell post hoc test, and Spearman's correlation. Results: The nurses participating in the study were found to have a mean score of 112.11 ± 17.86 for the TAQ and a mean score of 4.95 ± 0.54 for the CBI. There was a statistically positive correlation between the nurses' teamwork attitudes and caring behaviors (P < 0.05). Conclusion: It can be said that the teamwork attitudes of the nurses had a positive effect on their caring behaviors. It may be suggested to plan relevant research studies examining especially observational behavioral assessments.

Amaç: Araştırma lise son sınıf öğrencilerinin hemşirelik mesleğine yönelik tutumlarınıbelirlemek amacıyla tanımlayıcı olarak yapılmıştır.Gereç ve Yöntemler: Araştırmanınörneklemini 2014-2015 eğitim öğretim yılında Nevşehir İlMerkezinde devlet liselerinde lise son sınıfta okuyan 305 öğrenci oluşturmuştur. Tanıtıcı Özellikler Formu ve HemşirelikMesleğine Yönelik Tutum Ölçeği (HMTÖ) ile toplanmıştır.Bulgular: Öğrencilerin HMTÖ toplam puan ortalamasının 133.63±20.81 olduğubelirlenmiştir. Kız öğrencilerin erkek öğrencilere göre, endüstri mesleklisesinde okuyanların diğerlerine göre, hemşire yakını olanların olmayanlaragöre, hastane deneyimi olanların olmayanlara göre, hemşireliği tercih etmek isteyenlerinistemeyenlere göre HMTÖ toplam puanlarının daha yüksek olduğu bulunmuştur.Öğrencilerin, öğrenim gördükleri okul, hemşireliği tercih etmeyi istemeleri ilehemşirelik mesleğine yönelik tutumları arasında istatistiksel olarak anlamlıfarklılık saptanmıştır (p < 0,05).Sonuçlar: Çalışmada lise son sınıf öğrencilerininhemşirelik mesleğine yönelik tutumlarınınolumlu olduğu belirlenmiştir., Aim: This descriptiveresearch was made in order to determine of senior high school students'attitudes towards the nursing profession.Material and Methods: The sample of theresearch was 305 students who are senior high school at State schools inNevşehir Province in 2014-2015 academic year. Özen Özbay Özbaş (Aksaray, Yazar), The aim of this study was to determine the relationship between eating habits and body composition of the university personnels. The sampling of this research consisted of academic and administrative personnels from the university (68 female and 124 male personnels). Body weight and composition were measured with a Tanita instrument. Data were collected by performing a questionnaire including 33 items. For the statistical analysis, frequency and percentage (%) distributions, ChiSquare test and Pearson correlations were used. For females, 38.9% of the university members, 30% of the instructors and 32.5% of the administrative personnels and for men, 31.6% of the university members, 38.5% of the instructors and 27.2% of the administrative personnels had two meals in a day. Both female and male administrative personnels had more junk food consumption than the others. Objective: Nursing students face with stress factors affecting academic performance and quality of life as from first moments of their educational life. Stress causes health problems in students such as physical, psycho-social, and behavioral disorders and might damage formation of professional identity by decreasing efficiency of education. In addition to determination of stress experienced by nursing students during their education, it was aimed to help review theoretical and clinical education settings for bringing stress of nursing students into positive level and to raise awareness of educators concerning their own professional behaviors. Methods: The study was conducted with 315 students studying at nursing department of Semra and Vefa Küçük Health High School, Nevşehir Hacı Bektaş Veli University in the academic year of 2015-2016 and agreed to participate in the study. "Personal Information Form" prepared by the researchers upon the literature review and "Nursing Education Stress Scale (NESS)" were used in this study. Data were assessed with analysis of variance and correlation analysis. Results: Mean NESS Scale score of the nursing students was estimated to be 66.46±16.08 points. Conclusions: As a result of this study, stress level experienced by nursing undergraduate students during their education was determined to be high. In accordance with this result, it can be recommended to determine sources of stress experienced by nursing undergraduate students during their education and to develop approaches to eliminate these stress sources.

This descriptive study was conducted to determine the reasons why male students would choose the nursing profession. The study sample consisted of 71 students who agreed to participate in the study. It was found that 78.9% of the students marked nursing as their 1st to 5th choice and 66.2% of them were happy to study in the nursing department. The top reason for selecting the profession was that their families and community wished them to do so. Family and community encouragement and better employment opportunities were the first two factors that influenced male students in choosing their profession and they stated that they were pleased to study nursing. Although their being content with nursing education was positive in the sense that it showed that male students have internalized bearing the title of a nurse, the fact that they acted upon the wishes of their family and community rather than deciding on their career on their own may lead to problems in the future including being dissatisfied with the profession. Araştırmaya katılmayı kabul eden 71 öğrenci araştıranın örneklemini oluşturmuştur. Öğrencilerin; %78.9’unun hemşireliği 1.-5. sırada tercih ettikleri ve %66.2’sinin hemşirelik bölümünde okumaktan memnun olduğu belirlenmiştir. Öğrencilerin mesleği seçmelerinin ilk nedeni ailem ve çevrem istediği için olarak belirlenmiştir. Erkek öğrencilerin meslek seçimlerinde aile ve çevre isteği ve iş olanağının yüksek olması nedenlerinin ilk iki sırada yer aldığı ve hemşirelik okumaktan memnun oldukları belirtmişlerdir. Hemşirelik okumaktan memnun olmaları erkek öğrencilerin hemşire unvanını benimsediklerini göstermesi açısından olumlu olmasına karşın meslek seçimlerinde aile ve çevre isteği kişinin meslek seçimine kendisinin karar vermemesi nedeniyle gelecekte meslekte doyum sağlayamama gibi bir soruna neden olabileceğini düşündürmektedir.
