We report on the properties of coronal loop foot-point heating with observations at the highest resolution, from the CRisp Imaging Spectro-Polarimeter (CRISP) located at the Swedish 1-m Solar Telescope (SST) and co-aligned NASA Solar Dynamics Observatory (SDO) observations, of Type II spicules in the chromosphere and their signatures in the EUV corona. Here, we address one important issue, as to why there is not always a one-to-one correspondence, between Type II spicules and hot coronal plasma signatures, i.e. beyond TR temperatures. We do not detect any difference in their spectral properties in a quiet Sun region compared to a region dominated by coronal loops. On the other hand, the number density close to the foot-points in the active region is found to be an order of magnitude higher than in the quiet Sun case. A differential emission measure analysis reveals a peak at $\sim 5 \times 10^5$ K on the order of 10$^{22}$~cm$^{-5}$~K$^{-1}$. Using this result as a constraint, we conduct numerical simulations and show that with an energy input of $1.25 \times 10^{24}$ erg (corresponding to $\sim$10 RBEs contributing to the burst) we manage to reproduce the observation very closely. However, simulation runs with lower thermal energy input do not reproduce the synthetic AIA $171 {\AA}$ signatures, indicating that there is a critical number of spicules required in order to account for the AIA $171{\AA}$ signatures in the simulation. Furthermore, the higher energy ($1.25 \times 10^{24}$ ergs) simulations reproduce catastrophic cooling with a cycle duration of $\sim$5 hours, matching a periodicity we observe in the EUV observations.

We investigate regression for variable length sequential data containing missing samples and introduce a novel tree architecture based on the Long Short-Term Memory (LSTM) networks. In our architecture, we employ a variable number of LSTM networks, which use only the existing inputs in the sequence, in a tree-like architecture without any statistical assumptions or imputations on the missing data, unlike all the previous approaches. In particular, we incorporate the missingness information by selecting a subset of these LSTM networks based on "presence-pattern" of a certain number of previous inputs. From the mixture of experts perspective, we train different LSTM networks as our experts for various missingness patterns and then combine their outputs to generate the final prediction. We also provide the computational complexity analysis of the proposed architecture, which is in the same order of the complexity of the conventional LSTM architectures for the sequence length. Our method can be readily extended to similar structures such as GRUs, RNNs as remarked in the paper. The crisis caused by COVID-19 revealed the global unpreparedness to handle the impact of a pandemic. In this paper, we present a statistical analysis of the data related to the COVID-19 outbreak in China, specifically the infection speed, death and fatality rates in Hubei province. By fitting distributions of these quantities we design a parametric reinsurance contract whose trigger and cap are based on the probability distributions of the infection speed, death and fatality rates. In particular, fitting the distribution for the infection speed and death rates we provide a measure of the effectiveness of a state's action during an epidemic, and propose a reinsurance contract as a supplement to a state's social insurance to alleviate financial costs.

Continuous unitary transformations are a powerful tool to extract valuable information out of quantum many-body Hamiltonians, in which the so-called flow equation transforms the Hamiltonian to a diagonal or block-diagonal form in second quantization. Yet, one of their main challenges is how to approximate the infinitely-many coupled differential equations that are produced throughout this flow. Here we show that tensor networks offer a natural and non-perturbative truncation scheme in terms of entanglement. The corresponding scheme is called "entanglement-CUT" or eCUT. It can be used to extract the low-energy physics of quantum many-body Hamiltonians, including quasiparticle energy gaps. We provide the general idea behind eCUT and explain its implementation for finite 1d systems using the formalism of matrix product operators. We also present proof-of-principle results for the spin-1/2 1d quantum Ising model and the 3-state quantum Potts model in a transverse field. We analyze the semileptonic $ B_{s} \rightarrow D_{s2}^{*}(2573)\ell\bar{\nu }_{\ell}$ transition, where $\ell=\tau,~\mu$ or $e$, within the standard model. We apply the QCD sum rule approach to calculate the transition form factors entering the low energy Hamiltonian defining this channel. The fit functions of the form factors are used to estimate the total decay widths and branching fractions in all lepton channels. The orders of branching ratios indicate that this transition is accessible at LHCb in near future., Comment: 21 Pages, 3 Figures and 5 Tables

The transition form factors of the semileptonic $B \rightarrow D_2^*(2460)\ell\bar{\nu}\,\,\,\,(\ell=\tau,\mu,e)$ decay channel are calculated within the framework of the three-point QCD sum rules. The fit functions of the form factors are then used to estimate the total decay width and branching ratio of this transition. The strong coupling constants, $g_{D_{s}DK_0^*}$, $g_{B_{s}BK_0^*}$, $g_{D^{\ast}_{s}D K}$, $g_{B^{\ast}_{s}BK}$, $g_{D^{\ast}_{s}D K_1}$ and $g_{B^{\ast}_{s}BK_1}$, where $K_0^*$, $K$ and $K_1$ are scalar, pseudoscalar and axial vector kaon mesons, respectively are calculated in the framework of three-point QCD sum rules. In particular, the correlation functions of the considered vertices when both $B(D)$ and $K_0^*(K)(K_1)$ mesons are off-shell are evaluated. In the case of $K_1$, which is either $K_1(1270)$ or $K_1(1400)$, the mixing between these two states are also taken into account. A comparison of the obtained result with the existing prediction on $g_{D^{\ast}_{s}D K}$ as the only coupling constant among the considered vertices, previously calculated in the literature, is also made., Comment: 20 Pages, 3 Figures and 8 Tables

Two Galactic isolated strong X-ray pulsars seem to be in the densest environments compared to other types of Galactic pulsar. X-ray pulsar J1846-0258 can be in an early phase of anomalous X-ray pulsars and soft gamma repeaters if its average braking index is ~1.8-2.0. X-ray pulsar J1811-1925 must have a very large average braking index (n~11) if this pulsar was formed by SN 386AD. This X-ray pulsar can be in an early phase of evolution of the radio pulsars located in the region P~50-150 ms and \.{P}~10$^{-14}-10^{-16}$ s/s of the P-\.{P} diagram. X-ray/radio pulsar J0540-69 seems to be evolving in the direction to the dim isolated thermal neutron star region on the P-\.{P} diagram.
