Objectives:Toinvestigategrowthdifferentiationfactor-15 (GDF-15) levels and the thickness of epicardial adipose tissue (EAT) in patients with axial spondyloarthritis (axSpA) and to evaluate their relationship with functional status, disease activity, disease duration, and the type of medical treatment received by the patients. Methods: This cross-sectional study was carried out at Kırşehir Ahievran University School of Medicine between February and June 2020. Twenty-nine healthy controls and 44 patients with axSpA were included in the study. Gender, age, erythrocyte sedimentation rate, GDF-15, body mass index, complete blood count, ejection fraction, the EAT thickness, and C-reactive protein of all participants were recorded. Ankylosing Spondylitis Quality of Life Index, Bath Ankylosing Spondylitis Functional Index, the disease duration, Bath Ankylosing Spondylitis Metrology Index, and Bath Ankylosing Spondylitis Disease Activity Index scores of patients with axSpA were noted. Background: Losses in muscle strength, balance, and gait are common in patients with chronic stroke (CS). Ankle joint movements play a key role in this population to maintain a sufficient level of functional activity. The aim of this study was to investigate the effects of the subtalar joint (STJ) mobilization with movement (MWM) technique on muscle strength, balance, functional performance, and gait speed (GS) in patients with CS. Methods: Twenty-eight patients with CS were randomly divided into the control group (n = 14) and the STJ MWM group (n = 14). A 30-min neurodevelopmental treatment program and talocrural joint MWM were applied to both groups. Also, STJ MWM was applied to the STJ MWM group. The patients were treated 3 days a week for 4 weeks. Ankle dorsiflexion and plantarflexion muscle strength, Berg Balance Scale, Timed Up and Go test, and GS were evaluated before and after treatment. Results: Berg Balance Scale and Timed Up and Go test scores, dorsiflexion and plantarflexion muscle strength, and GS improved in both groups after the treatment sessions (P < .05), but the improvements were greater in the STJ MWM group compared with the control group (P < .05). Conclusions: According to these results, STJ MWM together with neurodevelopmental treatment and talocrural joint MWM can increase ankle muscle strength, balance, functional performance, and GS on the affected leg in patients with CS.

Objective: Examination of foot pathologies and accessory bones with foot and ankle magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) and determining the results.Material and Method: The results of the cases over the age of 18 who applied to the Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation and Orthopedics outpatient clinic between January 1, 2015 and December 31, 2015 and underwent MRI of the foot and ankle were evaluated retrospectively. 462 cases, 255 women, and 207 men were included in the study. All results were evaluated. Foot pathologies and accessory bones were evaluated from MR official reading reports.Results: A total of 462 cases were included in the study. 49.1% of the foot pathologies were detected on the right side and 50.9% on the left side. Accessory bones were determined as os trigonum (1.9%) and accessory navicular bone (0.4%). MRI findings were defined as; tibiotalar effusion (50%), (20.1%), intramedullary lesion (14.3%), flexor hallucis longus tendinitis (21%), anterior talofibular ligament injury (6.5%), posterior talofibular ligament injury (5.4%), osteomyelitis (0.4%), Morton's neuroma (13.6%), Achilles tendinitis (3.2%), cyst (12.1%), hallux valgus deformity (2.2%), avascular necrosis (1.7%), peroneal tendinitis (5%), extensor tendinitis (2.4%), recent fracture (2.2%), tibialis posterior tendinitis (6.1%), flexor digitorum longus tendonitis (5%), retrotalar bursitis (4.3%), coalition (0.2%), tumor (1.3%), tibiotalar tendinitis (5.4%).Conclusion: The frequency and distribution of foot pathologies and accessory bones were determined using MRI. In this study, the most common accessory bone was determined as os trigonum. In addition, according to the results of the study, the most common pathology was tibiotalar effusion. In this study, in contrast to previous studies, accessory bones were identified as a small group. MRI is useful for evaluating accessory bones and soft tissue lesions., Amaç: Ayaktaki patolojilerin ve aksesuar kemiklerin ayak ve ayak bileği manyetik rezonans (MR) ile incelenmesi ve sonuçlarının belirlenmesidir.Gereç ve Yöntem: 1 Ocak 2015 ile 31 Aralık 2015 tarihleri arasında Fiziksel Tıp ve Rehabilitasyon ile Ortopedi polikliniğine başvuran, ayak ve ayak bileği MR uygulanan 18 yaş üstü olgular retrospektif olarak değerlendirildi. 462 olgu, 255 kadın ve 207 erkek çalışmaya dahil edildi. Ayak patolojileri ve aksesuar kemikler MR resmi okuma raporlarından değerlendirildi.Bulgular: Çalışmaya toplam 462 olgu dahil edildi. MR bulguları; tibiotalar efüzyon (%50), intramedüller lezyon (%14,3), fleksör hallusis longus tendiniti (%21), anterior talofibular ligament yaralanması (%6,5), posterior talofibular ligament yaralanması (%5,4), osteomiyelit (%0,4), morton nöroma (%13,6), aşil tendiniti (%3,2), kist ( % 12,1), halluks valgus deformitesi (%2,2), avasküler nekroz (%1,7), peroneal tendinit (%5), ekstansör tendinit (%2,4), yeni kırık (%2,2), tibialis posterior tendinit (%6,1), fleksör digitorum longus tendinit (%5), retrotalar bursit (%4,3), koalisyon (%0,2), tümör (%1,3), tibiotalar tendinit (%5,4))olarak tanımlanmıştır.Sonuç: Ayağın patolojilerinin ve aksesuar kemiklerin sıklığı ile dağılımı MR kullanarak saptandı. Bu çalışmada, en sık görülen aksesuar kemik os trigonum olarak belirlendi. Ayrıca, çalışma sonuçlarına göre en yaygın patoloji tibiotalar efüzyon olarak tespit edildi. Bu çalışmada önceki çalışmaların aksine, aksesuar kemikler küçük bir grup olarak belirlenmiştir. MR, aksesuar kemikler ve yumuşak doku lezyonlarını değerlendirmek için yararlıdır.

Purpose: Chronic urticaria is a skin disease with unknown etiology. Autoimmunity and psychogenic factors have been suggested to play a role in pathogenesis. Fibromyalgia is a rheumatic disease that may be associated with psychogenic factors. The aim of the study was to determine the frequency and severity of fibromyalgia and the effect of fibromyalgia coexistence on clinical features and dermatology life quality index in urticaria patients.Materials and Methods: One hundred patients with chronic urticaria and no history of any systemic disease and 100 age and sexmatched healthy controls were included. Urticaria severity was evaluated by the dermatology life quality index (DLQI). Clinical severity and disability status were evaluated by the visual analog scale (VAS) and fibromyalgia impact questionnaire (FIQ).Results: The mean age of the chronic urticaria patient group was 37.7±1.32, and that was 40.7±11.2 in the control group (p=0.09). Fibromyalgia frequency (45%) in the chronic urticaria group was significantly higher than in the control group (13%) (p=0.00). The duration of chronic urticaria was significantly higher in the patients with FMS than in the patients without FMS (p=0.001). There was a statistically significant correlation between FIQ and DLQI (p=0.019). No significant differences in terms of FMS durations, VAS, and FIQ values were detected between groups (p=0.432, p=0.201, p=0.332).Conclusion: High frequency of fibromyalgia in chronic urticaria patients was found. This may be related to the chronic effect of neuromediators involved in chronic urticaria pathogenesis., Amaç: Kronik ürtiker, nedeni tam olarak aydınlatılamamış kaşıntılı bir deri hastalığıdır. Otoimmünite ve psikojenik faktörlerin de patogenezde rolü olabileceği düşünülmektedir. Fibromiyalji sendromu (FMS) psikojenik nedenlerle ilişkili olabileceği düşünülen bir romatizmal hastalıktır. Çalışmamızda kronik ürtiker hastalarında FMS sıklığı ve şiddetini araştırmayı ve kronik ürtikere eşlik eden fibromiyalji varlığının klinik özelliklere ve dermatoloji yaşam kalitesine etkisini değerlendirmeyi planladık.Araçlar ve Yöntem: Çalışmaya kronik ürtiker tanısı almış ve sistemik hastalık öyküsü olmayan 100 hasta, yaş ve cinsiyet açısından eşleştirilmiş 100 sağlıklı kontrol dahil edildi. Ürtiker şiddeti dermatoloji yaşam kalite indeksi skorları (DYKI) hesaplanarak değerlendirildi. Klinik şiddet ve fonksiyonel disabilite durumları vizuel analog skala (VAS) ve fibromiyalji etki anketi (FIQ) ile değerlendirildi.Bulgular: Hasta grubunun yaş ortalaması 37.7±1.32, kontrol grubunun ise 40.7±11.2 olarak saptandı (p=0.09). Hasta grubundaki FMS sıklığı (%45) kontrol grubundan (%13) istatistiksel olarak anlamlı şekilde yüksekti (p=0.00). Kronik ürtiker süresi FMS'li hastalarda istatistiksel olarak anlamlı derecede yüksek bulundu(p=0.001). FIQ ve DLQI değerleri arasında istatistiksel olarak anlamlı korelasyon saptandı (p=0.019). Hasta ve kontrol grubunda FMS süreleri, VAS ve FIQ açısından istatistiksel olarak anlamlı fark saptanmadı (p=0.432, p=0.201, p=0.332).Sonuç: Kronik ürtiker hastalarında FMS sıklığının artmış olduğunu görülmektedir. Bu sonuç kronik ürtiker patogenezindeki nöromediatörlerin kronik dönemdeki etkileriyle ilişkili olabilir.

Hoffa hastalığı, ön diz ağrısının önemli nedenlerinden biridir.Ön diz ağrısı; patella, eklem kapsülü, sinovyal plika, patellar tendonapofizi, iliotibial bant, femoral kondil ve yağ yastıkçığı kaynaklı olarakgörülebilir. Ön diz ağrısı, %70-90 oranında kronikleşebilmektedir. Dizçevresinde birçok yağ yastıkçığı bulunmaktadır. Dizin ön bölümünde;anterior suprapatellar (kuadriseps), infrapatellar (Hoffa) ve posteriorsuprapatellar (prefemoral) olarak 3 adet yağ yastıkçığı bulunmaktadır.Hoffa hastalığı, diz eklemi içinde bulunan 3 yastıkçıktan 1’i olan infrapatellar yağ yastıkçığının inflamasyonu ile karakterize klinik bir durumdur. Yumuşak dokuların incelenmesi için ileri görüntüleme tetkikleriönerilmektedir. Hoffa hastalığı tanısı, klinik ve manyetik rezonans görüntüleme yöntemi ile konulmaktadır. Ön diz ağrısına neden olan diğerklinik durumlarla karışabildiğinden sıklıkla gözden kaçmaktadır. Bu yazıda, Hoffa hastalığı tanısı konulan ve duloksetin ile başarılı bir şekildetedavi edilen 63 yaşındaki kadın hasta sunulmaktadır.&nbsp

Amaç: Bu çalışmanın amacı, genç yetişkinlerde karada ve su içinde yapılan plyometrik egzersizlerin kas kuvvetine ve proprioseptif duyuya etkisini incelemektir.Yöntem: Çalışmaya yaşları 18-25 yıl olan toplamda 30 genç yetişkin dahil edildi. Çalışmaya katılan birey sayısı her gruba eşit olacak şekilde, iki gruba ayrıldı. Bireylere, haftada 3 gün 8 hafta olmak üzere kara veya su içi plyometrik egzersizler uygulandı. Bireylerin değerlendirmeleri kara veya su içi plyometrik egzersizlerin uygulamasından önce ve sonra yapıldı. Çalışmaya katılmayı kabul eden bireylerin demografik bilgileri kaydedildi. Ayrıca kas kuvveti, proprioseptif duyu ve dikey sıçrama yüksekliği değerlendirildi. The number of individuals participating in the study was divided into two groups equal to each group. Individuals were applied plyometric exercises on land or in water 3 days a week for 8 weeks. The evaluations of individuals were made before and after the application on land and in water plyometric exercises. Demographic data of individuals who agreed to participate in study were recorded.
