Detection and prevention of hypokalemia which causes economic losses and metabolic diseases in dairy cows had great importance. For this reason, the first objective of this study is to determine the level of blood potassium in dairy cows during the periparturient period and the second objective is to the determination of the relationship between metabolic diseases and blood potassium levels. A total of 60 cows were used in the study. Forty cows of them (Group I; 20 and group II;20) were pregnant and multiparous, and 20 of them with metabolic diseases (ketosis, displacement of abomasum). Blood samples of healthy cattle were taken from v.jugularis twice, 10 ml each time. The first blood sample was taken two weeks before calving, and the second blood sample was taken within two weeks after calving. Blood samples of 20 cattle with metabolic diseases were taken from v.jugularis once, 10 ml. Serum samples were analyzed for Na, K, Cl, Creatinine, AST, LDH, Mg, P, and CPK parameters. The mean potassium level of group I and II healthy cattle after calving was 2,35 ± 0,17 mmol/l and 2,71 ± 0,12 mmol/l, respectively. However, the mean potassium level of cattle with metabolic diseases was also 2,53 ± 0,06 mmol/l. In conclusion, development of negative K balance in dairy cows after birth were detected. Additionally, cattle with displaced abomasum and ketosis were also found hypokalemic.

Çalışmada, endemik yaprak böceği Psylliodes anatolicus Gök ve Çilbiroğlu, 2004’nın günümüz ve farklı iklim değişikliği senaryolarına (Representative Concentration Pathway (RCP) 4.5 ve 8.5) göre gelecekteki (2050 ve 2070) potansiyel yayılış alanlarının tahmin edilmesi için tür dağılım modellerinin yapılması amaçlanmıştır. Türün dağılış kayıtları ilgili literatür ve yazarların yayınlanmamış kayıtlarından derlenmiştir. Türün günümüz ve gelecekteki dağılışları Community Climate System Model 4 (CCSM4) iklim değişikliği senaryolarına göre maksimum entropi (MaxEnt) metodu kullanılarak tahmin edilmiştir. Çalışmanın sonucunda, izotermallik, en nemli çeyreğin ortalama sıcaklığı ve mevsimsel sıcaklık türün dağılışını belirleyen en etkili biyoiklimsel faktörler olarak bulunmuştur. Günümüz dağılış modeli, bilinen yayılış alanının aksine, türün Ege ve Akdeniz bölgelerinin büyük bir bölümünde bulunabileceğini ortaya koymuştur. Gelecek dağılış modelleri ise, türün dağılış alanının iklim değişikliği nedeniyle 2050 ve 2070 dönemlerinde oldukça daralacağını veya hatta gelecek 50 yıl içinde neslinin tükenebileceğine işaret etmiştir. Bu çalışma değişen iklime bağlı olarak, dağ ekosistemlerinde yaşayan endemik türlerin başta olmak üzere, tüm Anadolu endemik biyoçeşitliliğinin tehdit altında olduğuna işaret etmektedir., This study aimed to construct species distribution models (SDMs) to predict present and future (2050 and 2070) potential distribution ranges of the endemic leaf beetle Psylliodes anatolicus Gök and Çilbiroğlu, 2004 under different climate change scenarios (Representative Concentration Pathway (RCP) 4.5 and 8.5). The distribution records were gathered from the related literature and unpublished data of the authors. SDMs were constructed by the maximum entropy (MaxEnt) method using the bioclimatic variables of Community Climate System Model 4 (CCSM4). As a result of this study, the most effective bioclimatic factors determining the distribution of species were isothermality, temperature seasonality, and mean temperature of the wettest quarter. The SDM conducted for the present distribution showed that the species may occur in large parts of the Aegean and Mediterranean Regions of Türkiye, beyond the known records. The SDMs for 2050 and 2070 suggest that the range of the species will shrink considerably or go extinct totally in the next 50 years, probably due to the changing climate. In conclusion, this study revealed that changing climate threatens the endemic members of Anatolian biodiversity, especially the endemic species living in mountain ecosystems.

Ön yüzü beton kaplı kaya dolgu (ÖYBK) baraj tipi yapımının önemi, kret uzunluğu fazla olan barajların dolgu hacmini, yapım süresi ve maliyetleri düşürmesi gibi birçok avantajdan dolayı günden güne artmaktadır. Dünya genelinde 2000'li yıllardan itibaren bir çok ülke tarafından yapımı tercih edilmeye başlanmıştır. Bir çok ekonomik ve inşaat yapım sürelerinin kısaltılması gibi avantajlarının yanında baraj temeli ve önyüz anolarında su sızmaları gibi dezavantajları da vardır. Ancak, iyi bir mühendislik tasarımı ve uygun bir uygulama metodu ile sızma miktarı önemli ölçüde kontrol altına alınabilir. Bu çalışmada Ilısu Barajı Projesi'nin yapım aşamaları ve buradan elde edilen deneyimler anlatılmış, baraj gövdesinin yapısal analizi tekrar başka bir programla yapılarak mevcut analiz sonuçlarıyla karşılaştırılmıştır. Yapısal analiz programı yardımı ile ana baraj gövdesinden seçilen kritik üç kesitte yapım aşaması, su tutma aşaması ve normal işletme esnasında deprem yük kombinasyonları altında düşey, kayma gerilmeleri ve yatay hareketler ölçülmüştür. Analiz sonuçlarına göre; normal işletme esnasında deprem yük kombinasyonu altında en yüksek gerilme ve memba – mansap yönünde hareket hesaplanmış, ancak, hesaplanan gerilme ve hareketler kabul edilebilir sınırlar altında kalmıştır. The importance of concrete faced rockfill dam (CFRD) type construction is increasing day by day thanks to many advantages in reducing the filling volume, construction period and cost of the dam which has long crest lengths. Stated type of the dam construction has been started to prefer by many countries around the world since 2000s. However, there are disadvantages such as water leakage in dam foundation rock and between concrete face slabs in contrary to the advantages like economic and shortening construction phase. Leakage problems can be controlled significantly with a sound engineering design and method statement In this study, Ilısu Dam Project construction phases and gained experiences from the project site construction works are explained, and structural analysis of Ilısu Dam Project has been carried out with another structural analysis computer program which works with finite element analysis. Vertical and shear stresses and horizontal movement in the direction of upstream – downstream has been calculated under self weight, hydraulic and seismic load combinations with Structural Analysis Program (SAP) at the selected three critical dam embankment sections. Maximum vertical stress and movement has been calculated under seismic load combination in normal operation phase. However, the calculated stressess and horizontal movements are remained in allowable boundries.

Forest ecosystems, which are seen relevant in terms of providing biodiversity and capturing carbon, have been affected by significant changes due to biotic, abiotic, and anthropogenic factors over time. There is no doubt that climate has a decisive role in this process. In addition, previous studies claim that changing climatic conditions will significantly alter the distribution, composition, and function of forests and, consequently, threaten biodiversity. This study aims to model the present and future potential geographic distribution of the stinking juniper (Juniperus foetidissima Willd.), which has a natural and potential distribution in Turkey as an ecologically important species, with presence data and diverse environmental variables (bioclimatic predictors and altitude). In this context, species distributions were modelled to cover the 2041-2060 and 2081-2100 periods under the SSP2 4.5 and SSP5 8.5 scenarios. Using maximum entropy model, this study analyzed the relative contribution of each environmental predictor by Jackknife test. In order prevent high correlation and multicollinearity, the correlated factors were determined by Pearson correlation coefficient. The findings showed that the most significant variables in the distribution of J. foetidissima were elevation, minimum temperature of coldest month (BIO6), and mean temperature of wettest quarter (BIO8), respectively. Representing the prediction accuracy, ROC curve indicates that the predictive power of the model used in this study was great. According to the model results, it was predicted that there would be significant changes in the potential distribution of J. foetidissima Willd. and this species would be seriously adversely affected by climate change. The results of change analysis pointed out that the spatial loss in habitat suitability was greater than the amount of gain. As a result, this study suggested that J. foetidissima Willd.'s adaptation resistance to climate changes would be low, and therefore should be incorporated into species conservation. The findings of this study can be used to identify robust strategies for the future survival and conservation of the species., Küresel ölçekte incelendiğinde, biyolojik çeşitlilik sağlama ve karbon tutma bakımından önemli ekosistemler arasındaki ormanların, biyotik, abiyotik ve antropojenik etkenler nedeniyle önemli değişimler içerisinde olduğu görülmektedir. Bu süreçte, iklimin belirleyici bir rolü olduğu kabul edilmiştir. Buna ek olarak, değişen iklim koşullarının, ormanların dağılımını, bileşimini, işlevini önemli oranda değiştireceği ve sonuç olarak biyolojik çeşitliliği tehdit edeceği öngörülmüştür. Bu çalışmanın amacı; Türkiye’de doğal yayılış gösteren ve orman ekosistemine ekolojik katkısı ile ön planda olan türler arasındaki kokulu ardıçın (Juniperus foetidissima Willd.), günümüz ve gelecekteki potansiyel coğrafi dağılımının tür varlığı verisi ve çevresel değişkenler (biyoiklimsel değişkenler ve yükseklik) ile modellenmesidir. Ayrıca, J. foetidissima Willd.’nin potansiyel yayılış alanlarının, günümüzde ve gelecekte alansal ve konumsal olarak nasıl değişiklik gösterdiği de değişim analizleri ile ortaya konmuştur. Bu kapsamda, tür dağılımı SSP2 4.5 ve SSP5 8.5 senaryolarına göre 2041-2060 ve 2081-2100 periyotlarını kapsayacak şekilde belirlenmiştir. Maksimum entropi modelinin kullanıldığı bu çalışmada, her bir tahmin değişkeninin göreceli katkısı Jackknife (çek-çıkar) testi ile belirlenmiş, çoklu doğrusallığı önlemek amacıyla Pearson korelasyonundan yararlanılmıştır. Tahmin doğruluğunu ifade eden ROC eğrisi, kullanılan modelin simülasyon gücünün çok yüksek olduğunu ifade etmektedir. Model sonuçlarına göre, J. foetidissima Willd.’nin potansiyel yayılışında önemli miktarda değişiklikler olacağı ve türün iklim değişikliğinden ciddi oranda olumsuz etkileneceği tahmin edilmiştir. Değişim analizi sonuçları, habitat uygunluğundaki alansal kaybın, kazanç miktarından daha fazla olduğunu göstermektedir. Sonuç olarak, bu çalışmada J. foetidissima Willd.’nin iklim değişikliklerine adaptasyon direncinin düşük olacağı ve dolayısıyla tür koruma çalışmalarına dâhil edilmesi gerektiği vurgulanmıştır. Bu çalışmanın bulguları, türün gelecekte sürdürülebilmesi ve korunmasına yönelik güçlü stratejilerin belirlenebilmesi amacıyla kullanılabilir.

The aim of the study was to determine the species composition, diversity, similarity and completeness of cave-dwelling arthropods in cave zones (entrance, twilight and dark zones) in Erdal Şekeroğlu Cave (ESC) (Atabey-Isparta Province) and Kadıini Cave (KIC) (Alanya-Antalya Province) ecosystems in Turkey. The study also aimed to investigate whether these species can be used for mapping cave zones. The samplings were conducted by using aspirator and pitfall trap methods in ESC among 2010-2020 and in KIC in 2017. Hence statistical analyses were performed with the data gathered from the field studies conducted in the same year (2017) in order to evaluate ecological data in the two cave ecosystems homogeneously. During the study, a total of 51 arthropod species, mostly hexapods, belonging to five classes were collected. Biodiversity parameters, similarity index, indicator species analyses, and species richness estimators were calculated for each cave and cave zones. In addition to reporting the distributions of hexapods in cave ecosystems, this paper discusses for the first time if such ecological data can inform cave mapping and exploration., Çalışmada, Erdal Şekeroğlu (ESC) (Isparta, Türkiye) ve Kadıini (KIC) (Antalya, Türkiye) Mağaralarının farklı (giriş, alacakaranlık ve karanlık) zonlarında yaşayan arthropod türlerinin çeşitliliğinin, benzerliğinin ve tahmini tür sayılarının belirlenmesi amaçlanmıştır. İstatistiksel analizler, iki mağara ekosistemindeki ekolojik verileri homojen olarak değerlendirmek amacıyla, aynı yıl (2017) yapılan saha çalışmalarından elde edilen verilerle yapılmıştır. Çalışmada, çoğu hexapod olmak üzere beş sınıfa ait toplam 51 eklem bacaklı türü tespit edilmiştir. Her iki mağara ve mağara zonları için biyolojik çeşitlilik, benzerlik, biyolojik gösterge ve tür tahminleyici analizleri yapılmıştır. Ayrıca, böceklerin mağara haritalaması ve keşiflerinde kullanılabilirliği de dünyada ilk kez tartışılmıştır.

The perinatal period is the most hazardous in the life of all animals. More than 60% of producers have reported that most of their calf mortality occurs at birth. Calf mortality represents economic losses to the dairy industry due to delayed genetic progress, fewer replacements available for voluntary culling of the lactating herd, and increased cost of replacement. The main causes of perinatal morbidity and mortality are, in descending order of importance, combined respiratory and metabolic acidosis, parturient trauma, hypoglobulinemia, congenital infections and deficiencies, and omphalophlebitis. This indicates that farmers and their veterinarians need to focus on calving management when investigating such problems and when attempting to reduce losses in herds with high rates of bovine perinatal mortality. Although it is not frequently encountered with pest species that cause economic damage or epidemic in beech forests of our country, it was observed that Calliteara pudibunda (Linneaus, 1758) caused major epidemic in Inegöl (Bursa) beech forests in 2018 and 2019. As result of feeding by larvae, trees may become completely leafless and loss of increment occurs. This species is mainly known as beech pest, but is fed as a polyphag on decidous forest tree species. In this study, future projection of Calliteara pudibunda was modeled by using MaxEnt 3.4.1 program based on scenarios developed depending on current distribution areas and climate change in Turkey. In the modeling, 19 bioclimatic variables were created using CCSM4 (The Community Climate System Model) 2050 and 2070 RCP (Representive Concentration Pathway) 4.5 and RCP 8.5 climate scenarios. It is observed that the present potential distribution area of the pest coincides largely with the areas where the beech is spread, especially in the Black Sea region. It is seen that the pest appears to be a threat for Turkish forests in 2050 and 2070 projections according to RCP 4.5 and RCP 8.5. It is estimated that the present and future potential areas of Calliteara pudibunda, which are harmful to beech forests in a limited area in İnegöl-Tahtaköprü locality for today, may increase gradually., Ülkemiz kayın ormanlarında ekonomik zarara yada epidemiye yol açan zararlı türlerle sıklıkla rastlanılmamakla birlikte Calliteara pudibunda (Linneaus, 1758)’nın 2018 ve 2019 yıllarında İnegöl (Bursa) kayın ormanlarında epidemi yaparak önemli zarara yol açtığı gözlemlenmiştir. Larvaları kayın yapraklarını yemesi sonucunda ağaçlar tamamen yapraksız kalabilmekte ve artım kaybı meydana gelmektedir. Bu tür esas olarak kayın zararlısı olarak bilinmekle birlikte, yapraklı orman ağacı türlerinde polifag olarak beslenmektedir. Çalışmada, Calliteara pudibunda’nın Avrupa ve Türkiye’deki mevcut yayılış alanları ve iklim değişimine bağlı olarak geliştirilen senaryolara göre gelecek projeksiyonu MaxEnt 3.4.1 programı kullanılarak modellenmiştir. Modellemede CCSM4 (The Community Climate System Model) 2050 ve 2070 yılı RCP (Representive Concentration Pathway) 4.5 ve RCP 8.5 iklim senaryosu kullanılarak oluşturulmuş 19 biyoklimatik değişken kullanılmıştır. Zararlının günümüzdeki potansiyel yayılış alanının Karadeniz bölgesi başta olmak üzere kayının yayılış yaptığı sahalarla büyük oranda örtüştüğü dikkati çekmektedir. Ayrıca, RCP 4.5 ve RCP 8.5’a göre 2050-2070 projeksiyonlarında türün yayılış alanları modeli incelendiğinde türün gelecek projeksiyonunda da ükemiz ormanları için bir tehdit olarak ortaya çıktığı görülmektedir. Bugün itibariyle, İnegöl-Tahtaköprü mevkide sınırlı bir alanda kayın ormanlarında zararlı olan Calliteara pudibunda’nın günümüz ve gelecekteki potansiyel alanlarının giderek daha da artış gösterebileceği tahmin edilmektedir.
