Abstract Objectives Hospitals’ accreditation process is carried out to enhance the quality of hospitals’ care and patient safety practices as well. The current study aimed to investigate the influence of hospitals’ accreditation on patient safety culture as perceived by Jordanian hospitals among nurses. Methods A descriptive cross-sectional correlational survey was used for the current study, where the data were obtained from 395 nurses by convenient sampling technique who were working in 3 accredited hospitals with 254 nurses, and 3 non-accredited hospitals with 141 nurses, with a response rate of 89%. Results The overall patient safety culture was (71.9%). Moreover, the results of the current study revealed that there were no statistically significant differences between the perceptions of nurses in accredited and non-accredited hospitals in terms of perceptions of patient safety culture. Conclusion The current study will add new knowledge about nurses’ perceptions of patient safety culture in both accredited and non-accredited hospitals in Jordan which in turn will provide valid evidence to healthcare stakeholders if the accreditation status positively affects the nurses’ perceptions of patient safety culture or not. Continuous evaluation of the accreditation application needs to be carried out to improve healthcare services as well as quality and patient safety.

Introduction Physical activity is critical for health promotion and the prevention of noncommunicable illnesses, especially among teenagers. However, teenagers’ active participation in physical exercise may be hampered by perceived impediments to physical activity. Objective This study aimed to identify the external and internal barriers to physical activities among adolescents, as well as any differences in these barriers between males and females. Methods A cross-sectional study was carried out among 600 adolescent students (aged 11–16) from a public school in Jordan. A self-administered questionnaire with 12 items assessed barriers to physical activity. Internal and external barriers were identified, and statistical analyses were performed using SPSS. Results Male adolescents reported more perceived hurdles to physical exercise than female adolescents, with lack of time and lack of self-confidence being the most significant impediments. External impediments were more prominent than internal barriers, particularly a lack of resources. The total score for external barriers was significantly higher than that for internal barriers. “Lack of resources” was the most important external barrier (mean = 3.49), and “lack of self-confidence” was the most significant internal barrier (mean = 3.47). Male and female teenagers differed in the obstacles of “lack of self-confidence” ( p = .045) and “lack of time” ( p = .040). The most significant perceived hurdles included a lack of awareness of the health benefits of exercise, concerns about appearance while exercising, limited access to fitness centers, lack of exercise equipment at home, and insufficient spare time due to a packed class schedule. Conclusion It is critical to implement interventions that address the identified barriers to physical activity, particularly among female adolescents, such as improving opportunities for physical activity and providing social support for participation.

Background: Container terminals (CTs) have constantly administered truck appointment systems (TASs) to effectively accomplish the planning and scheduling of drayage operations. However, since the operations in the gate and yard area of a CT are stochastic, there is a need to incorporate uncertainty during the development and execution of appointment schedules. Further, the situation is complicated by disruptions in the arrival of external trucks (ETs) during transport, which results in congestion at the port due to unbalanced arrivals. In the wake of Industry 4.0, simulation can be used to test and investigate the present CT configurations for possible improvements. Methods: This paper presents a simulation optimization (SO) and simulation-based optimization (SBO) iteration framework which adopts a dual transactions approach to minimize the gate operation costs and establish the relationship between productivity and service time while considering congestion in the yard area. It integrates the use of both the developed discrete event simulation (DES) and a mixed integer programming (MIP) model from the literature to iteratively generate an improved schedule. The key performance indicators considered include the truck turnaround time (TTT) and the average time the trucks spend at each yard block (YB). The proposed approach was verified using input parameters from the literature. Results: The findings from the SO experiments indicate that, at most, two gates were required to be opened at each time window (TW), yielding an average minimum operating cost of USD 335.31. Meanwhile, results from the SBO iteration experiment indicate an inverse relationship between productivity factor (PF) values and yard crane (YC) service time. Conclusions: Overall, the findings provided an informed understanding of the need for dynamic scheduling of available resources in the yard to cut down on the gate operating costs. Further, the presented two methodologies can be incorporated with Industry 4.0 technologies to design digital twins for use in conventional CT by planners at an operational level as a decision-support tool.

Introduction In general, undergraduate university students in the north of Jordan have a low level of physical activity. Objectives To examine the physical activity level, perceived barriers and benefits to physical activity, and the contributing factors among university students in north of Jordan. Methods A cross-sectional study design was used, and data was collected from 235 university students through a self-reported questionnaire. The International Physical Activity Questionnaire (IPAQ) was utilized to calculate the amount of physical activity, while the exercise benefits and barriers scale (EBBS) was used to measure the perceived benefits and barriers of physical activity. Results According to the findings, less than half of the students (48.1%) reported engaging in physical activity. Several factors were found to be significantly related to higher levels of physical activity, including being younger, single, having a normal body weight, and reporting excellent health status. Logistic regression analysis revealed that overweight (OR = −0.068, 95% CI 0.025–0.183) and obese (OR = −0.250, 95% CI 0.068–0.924) were less likely to be physically active, while those who rated their health as excellent had higher rates of physical activity (OR = 3.590, 95% CI 1.263–10.201). The students agreed most strongly with the perceived benefit item “Exercise improves the way my body looks,” while the perceived barrier item they identified most strongly with was “There are too few places for me to exercise.” Conclusion This study provides important data for health promotion programs aimed at supporting physical activity among university students.

Background: Job security is one of the basic needs of nurses and it has a great influence on their willingness to work. The effectiveness of job performance of nurses will reflect on the whole organization’s performance by providing high quality health services. Aim: The purpose of this study is to investigate the relationship between job security and employee performance among Jordanian nurses. Method: The study utilized a descriptive, comparative cross-sectional design. It was conducted in two governmental and two private hospitals. A sample of 156 nurses was recruited conveniently to participate in the study. The Job security questionnaire and The Six-Dimension Scale of Nursing Performance were used to collect data. Results: The mean value of the job security score was (3.26) which reflect a moderate level of job security. Background: Pregnancy-related acute kidney injury (Pr-AKI) is a significant factor associated with increased maternal and fetal morbidity and mortality in developing countries. The aim of our study was to investigate the clinical data and associated outcomes in patients diagnosed with postpartum AKI (PP-AKI) at our center. Methods: This prospective study at Zagazig University Hospital, Egypt, from October 1, 2023, to March 1, 2024, included patients with PP-AKI. These women were compared to a matched cohort of healthy pregnant women without pre-existing AKI. Multivariate analysis is used to identify risk factors. Results: Out of 900 pregnant patients who delivered during the study period, 52 patients developed PP-AKI with prevalence of 5.7%. The majority were multiparous (59.6%), and most delivered by cesarean section (67.3%). The most common cause of AKI is preeclampsia (51.9%), followed by antepartum hemorrhage (40.4%) and HELLP syndrome (36.5%). Stage 3 AKI (KDIGO classification) was the most prevalent occurring in 23% of cases. Maternal death occurred in 13.5% of cases, while fetal death was 17.3%. Follow-up showed that 42.3% had complete recovery, 30.7% CKD and 13.4% remained dialysis-dependent. Risk factors for AKI included high WBC, low Hb, low platelets, and high bilirubin levels, with p-values of 0.004, <0.0001, and 0.031, respectively. Additionally, nulliparous women had significantly lower odds of developing AKI (0.248, p = 0.017). However, the significance of these risk factors disappeared in multivariate analysis. Conclusion: PP-AKI is a relatively common pregnancy complication with significant maternal and fetal mortality risks. Preeclampsia and ante-partum hemorrhage are major risk factors. Background: The growth of e-commerce necessitates efficient logistics management to address rising last-mile delivery challenges. To overcome some of the last-mile delivery costs, parcel lockers as a delivery option, can be an alternative solution. This study presents the Capacitated Vehicle Routing Problem with Delivery Options (CVRPDO), which includes locker delivery. Methods: this problem is solved with An Adaptive Large Neighborhood Search (ALNS). The solution suggests some specific destroy and repair operators and integrates them with various selection schemes. The proposed method results are compared with the exact solution of the MIP model of the problem for validation. Results: Objective function values improved by 25%, 30%, 7%, 5%, and 6% for 1000, 800, 600, 400, and 200 customers, respectively, when using a 120-s ALNS runtime compared to the MIP model with a 3-h runtime. Conclusions: the CVRPDO problem involves creating a set of routes for ve-hicles that visit each customer at their delivery location or deliver their parcels to one of the lockers. These routes should respect the capacity of each vehicle and locker while minimizing the total routing costs and the number of utilized vehicles. The problem is resolved by ALNS algorithm, which outperformed the MIP model.

Six meta-substituted isophthalamide diesters (DxE) and pyridinedicarboxamides (PxE) are reported with spectroscopic and crystal structure analyses (D = meta-C6H4; P = meta-pyridine; xE = 2-/3-/4-ethyl ester substitution). Comparisons are made between the solid-state and minimised structures from ab initio computational calculations. The six compounds are potentially useful ligands for metal-complex coordination, spanning a range of molecular conformations. D2E adopts a planar molecular structure, as influenced by the C-H⋯O intramolecular interactions with all 34 nonhydrogen atoms within 0.1 Å of the D2E mean molecular plane. Extensive intermolecular ring⋯ring stacking arises with the shortest interplanar C⋯C of 3.372(2) Å. For D3E (Z′ = 4) and D4E, the hierarchy of intermolecular interactions is the determining factor driving the crystal structure formation with concomitant twinning, as influenced by the weaker interactions. In the pyridine-related P2E, the O1W water molecule (site occupancy = 0.441(5)) forms four hydrogen bonds, as follows: (i) O1W−H⋯O=C, (ii) O1W−H⋯π(arene) and (iii) two aromaticC−H⋯O1W. The meta- and para-substituted PxE·2(H2O) structures (x = 3 or 4) adopt open conformations with pairs of hydrogen-bonded water molecules located in molecular niches between the flanking benzamide ester groups. The Hirshfeld surface, two-dimensional fingerprint plots and contact enrichment ratio were investigated to statistically analyse the different types of intermolecular interactions.

The synthesis and spectroscopic characterisation of six bis(5-X-pyridine-2-yl)isophthalamides (X = H, F, Br, Cl, I, NO2) are reported, together with five crystal structure analyses (for X = H, F to I). The isophthalamides span a range of conformations as syn/anti (H-DIP; I-DIP), anti/anti- (F-DIP; Br-DIP) and with both present in ratio 2:1 in Cl-DIP. The essentially isostructural F-DIP and Br-DIP molecules (using strong amide…amide interactions) aggregate into 2D molecular sheets that align with either F/H or Br atoms at the sheet surfaces (interfaces), respectively. Sheets are linked by weak C-H⋯F contacts in F-DIP and by Br⋯Br halogen bonding interactions as a ‘wall of bromines’ at the Br atom rich interfaces in Br-DIP. Cl-DIP is an unusual crystal structure incorporating both syn/anti and anti/anti molecular conformations in the asymmetric unit (Z’ = 3). The I-DIP•½(H2O) hemihydrate structure has a water molecule residing on a twofold axis between two I-DIPs and has hydrogen and N⋯I (Nc = 0.88) halogen bonding. The hydrate is central to an unusual synthon and involved in six hydrogen bonding interactions/contacts. Contact enrichment analysis on the Hirshfeld surface demonstrates that F-DIP, Cl-DIP and Br-DIP have especially over-represented halogen···halogen interactions. With the F-DIP, Cl-DIP and Br-DIP molecules having an elongated skeleton, the formation of layers of halogen atoms in planes perpendicular to the long unit cell axis occurs in the crystal packings. All six DIPs were analysed by ab initio calculations and conformational analysis; comparisons are made between their minimized structures and the five crystal structures. In addition, physicochemical properties are compared and assessed.

Abstrak Praktik poligami banyak salah diartikan oleh para masyarakat dengan banyaknya hadis-hadis yang membahas tentang poligami. Hadis-hadis ini dijadikan pegangan dan dasar untuk boleh poligami, namun kebanyakan ulama memahami hadis ini sebagai penguat dan penjelas dari ayat ketiga surah an-Nisa, di lain sisi terdapat beberapa hadis yang menerangkan larangan terhadap pratik poligami, hadis tersebut secara jelas melalui riwayat Bukhari Nabi melarang dengan jelas praktik poligami. Dalam artikel ini mengkaji hadis-hadis yang berhubungan dengan kebolehan melakukan poligami, larangan melakukan poligami, aspek hukum dan impliksi hadis tentang poligami. The results of studies of coherently synchronized reactions of the decomposition of nitrous oxide and the oxidation of 3-methylpyridine in the gas phase are presented. The optimal conditions for obtaining the target products in this reaction have been identified. The influence of process parameters on the yield of reaction products is shown. γ-Ray irradiation is used for the synthesis of silver–Polystyrene polyvinyl pyrrolidone nanocomposite microspheres with a controlled shape, size, and functional properties. A monodispersed polystyrene microsphere was synthesized using dispersion polymerization induced by γ-ray irradiation. A polystyrene microsphere surface was used to attract Silver (Ag) nanoparticles in which it is created on it via the continuous reduction of Ag+ by γ-ray irradiation. Transmission Electron Microscopy, X-ray Diffraction Analysis, Ultraviolet–Visible Absorption, Thermal Gravimetric Analysis and Fourier Transform Infrared Spectroscopy are used for characterization of the final product. The discussion focuses on the physical–chemical aspects of the method. Special attention is paid to the preparation of nanocomposites with individual (non-aggregated) nanoparticles with a narrow size distribution and versatile morphologies, including the design of nanoparticles and nanocomposites that can perform multifunctional purposes. The focus was also on the problem of the spatial arrangement of nanoparticles and the elucidation of the role of polymers using this method. The synergistic role of the ingredients on the performance of nanocomposites was also discussed.
