Za pravilan utjecaj na razvoj sposobnosti, osobina i motoričkih znanja bitno je poznavanje karakteristika rasta i razvoja učenika tijekom primarnog obrazovanja. Različiti autori taj proces rasta i razvoja promatraju kroz različite pristupe. For proper influence on the development of abilities, characteristics and motor skills is essential knowledge of the characteristics of growth and development of students during primary education. Different authors the process of growth and development observed through different approaches. However, no matter which classification developmental period considered, the boundaries between them can not be specific because every child develops the characteristic dynamics. Therefore, the transition between the period of gradual and determined primarily by genetic program of development of anthropological characteristics of individual children, rather than years of his life. In conclusion, the order of the development period is the same for all children, but their occurrence and duration of time is different. This work will be further detailed motor skills with motor achievements, functional abilities and the educational effects of work together form a group of five elements of evaluation items physical education

Data warehouse is a database used to collect large amounts of historical data which is then analyzed and used to make better business decisions. This paper gives an overview of basic terms and reasons for the creation and use of data warehouses. Also, we describe the differences between data warehouses and transactional databases. Bill Inmon and Ralph Kimball have made a huge impact in data warehouse modeling techniques. Inmon is known as “father of data warehousing” and Kimball is known for his dimensional modeling technique. The two of them have different approaches to data warehousing, Inmon advocates a “top-down” approach, whereas Kimball suggests a “bottomup” approach. This paper gives an overview of tools used for physical realization of data warehouses. Also, it describes the reasons for monitoring and maintaining a data warehouse and how to do it. ETL is a process of extracting data from source systems, transforming them and loading them into the data warehouse. It is the most important part of building a data warehouse. There are many commercial and open-source ETL tools but there is also the option of hand coding the whole ETL process. At the end of this paper, we give an example in which we demonstrate how to model and implement a data warehouse based on a dimensional model. Our ETL tool of choice is Talend Open Studio.

The paper aims to model a neural network that will be able to detect mathematically gifted pupils in the fourth grade of elementary school. The input space consisted of variables describing five basic components of a child's mathematical gift identified in previous research, while the scientifically confirmed psychological evaluation of gift based on Raven's standard progressive matrices was used at the output. Three neural network models were tested on a Croatian dataset: multilayer perceptron, radial basis, and probabilistic network. The performance of models is measured by the average hit rate obtained on the test sample. The results show that the highest accuracy is produced by a radial basis neural network, which correctly recognizes all gifted children. Such high classification accuracy shows that neural networks have potential to serve as an effective intelligent decision support tool that will be able to assist teachers in detecting mathematically gifted children, especially in schools with a lack of psychologists.

The paper presents a cooperation interface between students of the Faculty of Teacher Education and ten-year olds referring to mastering contents in the field of geometry by means of modern information technologies. A model for extracurricular activity participation of pupils with special interest in mathematics, called ”Little School of Mathematics”, was established at the Faculty of Teacher Education in Osijek. Participants in the programme are ten-year-old children from 15 primary schools in Osijek. Under the supervision of their mentors, in the ”Little School of Mathematics” teacher education students gain special competencies and skills in teaching geometric shapes by means of educational simulations ”Fido’s flower bed”, ”3D and orthographic views” and ”Quilting bee”. Pupils use educational simulation ”Fido’s flower bed” to research forms of finding the area and perimeter of a rectangle. Simulation ”3D and orthographic views” is used to develop spatial sense with fourthgrade pupils. We started from application ”Who wants to be an architect?”. Pupils are intuitively introduced to the ideas of ground plan, vertical and lateral projection ; they recognized three-dimensional shapes in various positions, sketch three-dimensional shapes consisting of cubes and their two-dimensional counterparts and notice how various 3D shapes can have the same 2D representations. Educational simulation ”Quilting bee” is used for perceiving symmetries from pupils’ environment as well as for the composition of symmetries.

Moodle is a Learning Management System (abbreviation: LMS), i.e. a software solution for production and maintenance of online courses via the Internet. The project is in a state of continuous development with the purpose of support so-called educational environment of the social constructivism. At the Department of Mathematics, Faculty of Teacher Education, University of Osijek, Croatia, this LMS is in intense use as support in teaching of computer science courses since those courses include many asynchronous activities which performance is ensured using this LMS. Besides easy access to and constant availability of current course information and teaching materials, Moodle enables constant communication (student-to-student, student-to-teacher, teacher-to-student) through the forums and personal messages within the system. In this way Moodle integrates the teaching materials and tools for communication and interaction. This paper presents the results of research on the perception of the Moodle by students at the Faculty of Teacher Education in Osijek, Croatia, who represent the upcoming teachers of the generations of children to whom working on computer is everyday activity. The research has included about 120 students of the Faculty of Teacher Education in Osijek, Croatia, who are enrolled in different years and course of study (language, computer science, development). We assumed that there is a difference in the perception of a Moodle with respect to course, efficacy and year of study. On data collected from the sample of individuals we conducted statistical tests for testing statistical hypotheses derived from research hypothesis.

Scientifically approved psychological finding of gift is usually not available to all schools. In order to obtain an accurate and early detection of mathematically gifted children, an intelligent expert system MathGift is proposed to assist teachers in making decision about a child's gift in mathematics in the fourth grade of elementary school. Besides mathematical competencies, the system includes other components while deciding about the giftedness in mathematics, such as cognitive components of gift, personal components that contribute the gift development, strategies of learning and exercising, as well as some environmental factors. A survey was conducted at ten elementary schools where the expert system's, psychologists’ and teachers’ estimates were obtained for each child in the sample. The paper discusses some differences among the estimations of children's mathematical gift obtained by the ES, psychologists, and teachers. The results show that the expert system can be suggested as a methodological tool to assist teachers in making decision about children’ s gift in mathematics.

Trudom voditelja i studenata, učenici doživljavaju matematiku kroz perspektivu njezine važnosti u svakodnevnom životu, te kroz njezina lijepa (oku ugodna) i zanimljiva (neobična) svojstva. Prateći trend sveprisutnosti informacijske tehnologije i popularizacije njenog implementiranja u nastavu, prethodne školske godine dio radionica Male matematičke škole izvodili smo u obliku elektroničkog kolegija primjenom sustava za elektroničko obrazovanje Moodle.

Moodle je omogućio sveučilišnim nastavnicima, time i studentima, potpun uvid u rad učenika.

This paper presents a model for selecting the suitable type of teaching with purpose of achieving knowledge management through the adjustment of teaching to the students’ individual needs. Elements of selection constitute the AHP model, which obtains final ranking of decision alternatives (face-to-face, ICT supported, hybrid and distance teaching) in multi-criteria environment (communication, teaching materials availability, delivering lessons, information quality, independence in learning). Required judgements of the importance of criteria and the priorities of alternatives are based on the data collected from the sample of individuals from the population of students at the Faculty of Teacher Education in Osijek, Croatia, using Saaty’s ratio scale. Established AHP model indicates students’ preference for lessons supported by ICT and their awareness about the importance of adequate using ICT in teaching.

This paper compares the efficiency of two intelligent methods: expert systems and neural networks, in detecting children’ s mathematical gift at the fourth grade of elementary school. The input space for the expert system and the neural network model consisted of 60 variables describing five basic components of a child’ s mathematical gift identified in previous research. The expert system estimated a child’ s gift based on heuristically defined logic rules, while the scientifically confirmed psychological evaluation of gift based on Raven’ s standard progressive matrices was used at the output of neural network models. Three neural network algorithms were tested on a Croatian dataset. The results show that both the expert system and the neural network recognize more pupils as mathematically gifted than teachers do. The expert system produces the highest average hit rate, although the highest accuracy in classifying gifted children is obtained by the radial basis neural network algorithm, which also yields lower type II error. Due to the ability of expert systems to explain the result, it can be suggested that both the expert system and the neural network model have potential to serve as effective intelligent decision support tools in detecting mathematical gift in early stage, therefore enabling its further development.

The paper aims to identify five main components of gift in mathematics based on previous research, and to create an expert system that will support teachers and students of teacher education in detecting gifted children. Each pupil was classified into four categories of mathematical gift. An empirical research is conducted at ten elementary schools in Osijek, Croatia. The assessments of teachers, students of education, and the expert system are obtained for each of the pupils, and then compared. The results show that more pupils are identified as potentially gifted by the system. It implies that an expert system leads teachers and students of education to consider other components of giftedness in mathematics, and could be used as an efficient methodological tool in detecting gifted children as well as in educating teachers and students of teacher education.

According to Johnson (2000) mathematically gifted children have needs that differ from those of other children. In order to pay special attention to gifted children, teachers usually use mathematical competencies as the only criterion for detecting such pupils. However, it is also important to include other components while deciding about the giftedness in mathematics, such as cognitive components of gift, personal components that contribute the gift development, strategies of learning and exercising, as well as some environmental factors. This paper aims to identify five main components of gift in mathematics based on previous research, and to create an intelligent expert system that will support teachers in detecting gifted children in the fourth year of elementary school. The systems is based on decision rules and forward chaining inference engine used to classify each pupil into one of the four output categories: (1) presumably gifted child in mathematics, (2) child with a special interest in mathematics, (3) child with average mathematical competencies, and (4) child with insufficiently developed mathematical competencies. An empirical research is conducted including 247 pupils, age 10, selected from different elementary schools in Osijek, Croatia. Both, teacher and the expert system assessments, are obtained for each of the pupils. The paper also compares the decisions of the expert system with the teachers' assessments of pupils' gift. The results show a significant difference among teacher and system assessments, and that more pupils are identified as potentially gifted by the system. It implies that an intelligent system leads teacher to consider other components of giftedness in mathematics, and therefore can serve as an efficient methodological tool in detecting gifted children as well as in educating teachers.

The importance of science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) in education cannot be over-emphasised. But the importance of this does not diminish the unattractiveness and disinterest of students in STEM subjects. On the other hand, the importance of cultural heritage preservation as one of the sustainable development goals becomes a powerful ally in eliminating the STEM subjects' negative connotations. The living heritage, the mother tongue, is a tool for the transmission of values and information, and it is frequently employed in the preservation and transmission of intangible cultural heritage. By making cross-curricular interdisciplinary connections, STEM subjects become more likable and interesting. Applying immersive technologies with a change in teaching strategies and methods that rely on the specialized sets of terms and expressions makes learning the subjects easier and improves retention. It also increases the interest of the students, makes the learning process more enjoyable and provides them with a better understanding of the subjects. The aim of this paper is to highlight the value and importance of using immersive technologies, such as augmented reality, as a powerful tool for the presentation of the living intangible cultural heritage of the Republic of Croatia as an integral component of digital storytelling in teaching STEM subjects. The paper is based on research whose main objective was to examine the positive impacts this interdisciplinary approach has on preserving intangible cultural heritage and promoting students’ engagement and creativity, as well as identify potential challenges for the application of this methodology to selected STEM subjects.
