This paper examines how the unidirectional alignment of a selected street affects traffic load at nearby signal-controlled intersections. Using the Aimsun 8 simulation model, the intersections in the city of Topoľčany were evaluated. A simulation model was created based on a traffic survey conducted by video detection at selected signal-controlled intersections. Both the negative and positive impacts of this modification were analyzed. This study shows a significant deterioration in the traffic situation. This paper further investigates the improvement achieved through corrective measures such as implementing an actuated control plan, modifying signal plans, and coordinating traffic flows. The results show the effectiveness of these measures in reducing congestion and improving traffic flow. The speedometer with radar head is a device displaying the instantaneous speed of vehicles in both the directions of the traffic lane. Interactive with the video, it collects and effectively interprets particular statistic data, such as the number of passed vehicles, classification of vehicles, exceeded speed, drivers´ behavior – speed change right before the measuring device, etc. The video is synchronized with the radar. In the areas where speedometer is installed, it is predicted that about 30% of the drivers slow down in front of the measuring device and about 60–90% of vehicles slow down after passing the device. The speedometer also serves as a light decelerator with respect to safe and sustainable traffic. The aim of the research was to carry out and subsequently to evaluate the three profile reviews executed on the selected road section under specific light and traffic conditions. After that, the evaluated data was compared with the real data gained by the respective reviews. The result of such comparison showed the measure of reliability and accuracy of the speedometer.

Remuneration of road transport drivers has been a hot topic since the EU's enlargement in 2004 when the new Member States strongly influenced the international road freight transport in Western Europe. The market opening to carriers from the new Member States has raised concerns that national carriers will lose their position in the original markets. Truck drivers from Central Europe have proven to be much less expensive in terms of wages and social protection. Therefore, Western European countries have started to make efforts to protect their carriers by restricting cabotage transport. Moreover, since 2015, Germany, France and other countries have begun to apply national law to drivers of international road transport. In Germany and France, some laws determine the minimum hourly gross wage. This paper focuses on analysing hourly wages in road freight transport in Western Europe (Austria, Germany, Belgium, France) and Central Europe (Slovakia, Czech Republic, Poland, Hungary). The analysis is carried out based on real data on 126,600 transport companies from 2014 to 2018. The analysis focuses on the period before 2019, because the international road freight transport has been significantly affected by the COVID-19 pandemic. In the study, numerical characteristics of the average wage development time series are used, such as the chronological average and the average growth rate. The method of analysis of variance is applied to compare the countries. The study results show that there have been such significant differences in road transport in recent years that Eastern carriers cannot meet Western countries' set conditions. In addition, the wage growth over time is approximately the same, suggesting that Western member countries cannot correspond to the average wages of Eastern countries neither now nor in the near future. Nowadays, traffic congestion poses a significant problem in urban areas, affecting daily life. The imbalance between supply and demand causes overloading. Intersections are critical nodes in urban transport networks, and their design has a substantial impact on traffic safety and efficiency. Microscopic traffic flow models, which describe vehicle maneuvers and traffic patterns, are widely used for optimal design and performance evaluation of transportation facilities. This article focuses on traffic modeling at intersections using the Aimsun software. The examined intersections are located in Topoľčany, Slovakia, where a 13-h traffic survey was conducted on Tovarnická Street. In addition to the current situation, simulations were performed for scenarios distributing 10% and 20% of peak traffic intensity over longer periods, with overall quality levels determined. Addressing transport in cities requires a change in people's behavior and a better distribution of different transport modes' performances—a change in the modal split. This article focuses on detailed research on the transport behaviors of residents and their attitudes towards possible changes. We developed a questionnaire and distributed it online and physically. The data came from an anonymous survey, and basic statistical methods and a correlation analysis were applied to them. One of the research tasks was to find the correlations between individual characteristics. The analysis showed that the respondents' education influenced their opinions about transport behavior. The results showed that the most common means of shared mobility was bicycles. The paper contains detailed results regarding the use of private cars and transport behavior in general. In addition, the study presents other significant findings regarding the average number of vehicles in households, the types of vehicles, and their usage patterns. The results of our study are useful for practical applications, because they describe traffic behavior patterns and can improve future decision making and transport planning. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

This report describes opportunities for using driving simulators for research of driver-vehicle interaction. We have focused on examples of the using of the current equipment of the University Science Park of University of Žilina. Laboratory was built for research of driver-vehicle interaction. It’s also important to give examples of evaluation after several measurements. The SNA - 211 REN driving simulator was used for each experimental measurement. It was necessary to use some additional equipment, because the driving simulator was used only for simulation. During simulations, drivers have been performing tasks connected with vehicle driving. Driver’s eye tracking in specific conditions was also important part of our research. We have tested the behaviour of drivers when they have used mobile phones for texting and GPS device with touchscreen.

In the Slovak republic, there is an increase of building roundabouts in both urban and non-build-up areas. The construction of roundabouts in urban areas brings mainly calming of traffic intensity. A roundabout in non-build-up areas could be built only within certain conditions. In this paper, we have been studying a small roundabout location and its traffic characteristics in the city of Hlohovec. In some cases, a small roundabout could be very good solution for exceeded traffic flow capacity of signal controlled intersections as well as for intersections with a high number of traffic incidents. But in our case, a small roundabout is not suitable for such intensity of vehicles as we measured in transport survey. So we focused on other possibilities how to improve this current situation. We have decided to make a proposal of signal controlled intersection as well as a turbo roundabout and compare the results of traffic characteristics of each proposal. We have made several simulations of each variant of traffic situation, using transport-planning software Aimsun, and calculate average values of all recorded traffic characteristics. As inputs, we have used intensities and other basic data obtained from transport survey. Using simulations outputs of transport planning software, we have been able to compare a current state with signal controlled intersection and turbo roundabout. Traffic characteristics of turbo roundabout show significant improvements compare to signal controlled intersection, f.e. in delay time (more than 68%), travel time (more than 22%), number of stops (more than 73%). Turbo roundabout seems to be the best solution for traffic organising at this chosen intersection in the city of Hlohovec, regarding travel time, delays, number of stops and safety at all.
