Along with decrease in numbers among amphibians in Eastern Europe nowadays newts especially suffer from invasive predatory fish and turtles. Such aggressive predator as P. glenii has recently occupied water bodies important for newts' breeding. The fish eat eggs, larvae and even adult individuals. Using the ecological niche approach, it was showed that for built distribution models based on certain climatic scenario Coefficient of determination (R 2) between Chinese sleeper and preserved T. cristatus with L. vulgaris to 2090 will grow from 44% to 66% in Eastern Europe highlighting expanding of new territories by the fish as a real threat to biodiversity.

Kopsavilkums Abinieku cenožu atkarība no ekoloģiskiem faktoriem to riesta ūdenstilpēs Aizsargājamo ainavu apvidū “Ādaži” un Siguldas novada Mores pagastā Maģistra darbs. Laura Supe. 2017.gads Abinieki kā sugu grupa pētījumiem ir ļoti noderīga to dzīves cikla dēļ, jo veiksmīgai nākamās paaudzes attīstībai vajadzīgi gan piemēroti ūdens baseini nārstošanai, gan sauszemes biotopi ziemošanai un barošanās iespējām. Lauka darbi veikti divās teritorijās: Aizsargājamo ainavu apvidū “Ādaži” (laika periodā no 09.05.2014. līdz 29.04.2017.), kur notiek aktīvas militārās mācības un Siguldas novada Mores teritorijā (laika periodā no 28.04.2015. līdz 14.05.2017.), kur galvenais zemes izmantošanas veids ir lauksaimniecība. Darba mērķis ir noteikt ūdenstilpju ekoloģiskos faktorus, kuri veido saistību ar katras abinieku sugas nārstošanas vietu izvēli un to savstarpēju nārstošanas nišu pārklāšanos. Darba hipotēze: abinieku sugām var izdalīt nārstošanas ūdenstilpju nišas pēc to morfoloģiskajiem parametriem un veģetācijas, un šīs nišas ir vienādas divās atšķirīgās teritorijās - Aizsargājamo ainavu apvidū “Ādaži” un Siguldas novada Mores pagastā. Katra ūdenstilpe atzīmēta kā parauglaukums, kurai fiksētas koordinātes. Abinieku konstatēšanai izmantoti hidrobioloģiskais ķeramtīkliņš un to noteikšana pēc vokalizēšanas. Kā ekoloģiskie parametri izvēlēti veģetācijas dati, ūdenstilpes lielums un dziļums. Rezultātu interpretēšanai izmantotas GLM un korelācijas analīzes, lai noskaidrotu saistību starp ekoloģiskajiem faktoriem un abinieku nārsta ūdenstilpēm. Darba rezultātā iegūti dati gan par abinieku saistību ar ekoloģiskajiem faktoriem, gan par sugu sabiedrībām nārsta ūdenstilpēs., The influence of breeding habitat ecological characteristics on amphibian cenosis in protected landscape area “Ādaži” and Sigulda region More municipality Master thesis. Laura Supe. 2017. Amphibian as a species group is very useful in research because of their lifestyle. For successful development of the next generation are necessary suitable water basins for spawning and terrestrial habitats for feeding and hibernation. The field work carried out in two different areas: in protected landscape area “Ādaži” (during the period from 09.05.2014. to 29.04.2017.) where there is an active military training and in Sigulda region More municipality (during the period from 28.04.2015. to 14.05.2017.) where the main land use is agriculture. The aim is to identify ecological factors of water bodies, which consist of relationship of each amphibian species spawning site selection and interconnection spawning niche overlap. Hypothesis of the study – for amphibian species can be distinguished niches of spawning water basins by their morphological characteristics and vegetation, and these niches are the same in two different areas - protected landscape area "Ādaži" and Sigulda region Mores municipality. Each pond was fixed as sampling plot and coordinates taken. Amphibians were detected using hydrobiological catching net or determinated by their voice. Cover of different macrophytes, size and depth of water body was selected as ecological parameters. GLM and correlation analysis were used for interpretation of results to determine the relationship between environmental factors and amphibian spawning water bodies. Results show data for both amphibian relationship to environmental factors and species community in spawning sites.

Pētījums veltīts retai, aizsargājamai un maz pētītai Latvijā gludenai čūskai Coronella austriaca. Pētījuma mērķis – noteikt sugas populācijas lielumu un struktūru Ķemeru Nacionālā parka Slokas un Vecajā purvos. Kopēja populācija purvos ietver ap 200 īpatņu un sastāv no vairākām subpopulācijām ar nelielu īpatņu apmaiņu. Konstatēts neliels jauno īpatņu skaits, kas, iespējams, saistīts ar sugas zemo auglību vai lielo mirstību šajā vecumgrupā. Pieaugušo čūsku starpā tēviņu ir vairāk, kā mātīšu, iespējams, lielākas mirstības dēļ mātīšu grupā. Individuālais iecirknis sasniedz 0.1-0.8 ha un, iespējams, ir atkarīgs no resursu daudzuma un biotopa īpatnībām. Dažāda dzimuma un vecuma īpatņi sastopami vienādos biotopos, bet jaunie īpatņi, atšķirībā no pieaugušam čūskām, apdzīvo suboptimālus mikrobiotopus, iespējams, lai izvairītos no kanibālisma., This research devoted to rare, protected and poorly studied in Latvia smooth snake Coronella austriaca. The goal was to determine species population size and structure in Kemeri National park Slokas and Vecais bogs. The total population of the species in area includes about 200 specimens and consist of several subpopulations with small specimen exchange. Small number of young snakes found probably is due to low fertility of the species or high mortality in this group. In adult snakes number of males is bigger than females, probably due to higher mortality of females. Individual home range reaches 0.1-0.8 ha and probably depends on the amount of resources or habitat features. Snakes of different sex and age use similar habitats, but younger specimens tend to occupy suboptimal habitats, perhaps to avoid cannibalism from adult specimens.

Darba ietvaros veikti 5 abinieku sugu (Rana arvalis; Rana lessonae; Epidalea calamita; Pelobates fuscus; Triturus vulgaris) iespējamo nārstošanas vietu apsekojumi Ādažu poligonā, kur notiek militārās apmācības. Darba mērķis: izpētīt ūdenstilpju ekoloģiskās īpatnības un analizēt, kādi faktori veido sugu nārsta nišas. Lauka darbi veikti Ādažu poligona C sektorā, kā parauglaukumus ieviešot apsekotās ūdenstilpes. Apkopota informācija par ūdenstilpju koordinātēm, lielumu, dziļumu, veģetāciju un tajā sastopamajiem abiniekiem. Galvenie rezultāti: izdalās faktori, kas liecina par katras sugas specifiskumu: T. vulgaris - ūdenstilpju dziļums; P.fuscus - makrofītu aizaugums (%); R.lessonae – grīšļu un dūņu segums (%); R.arvalis – kopējais aizaugums (%) un dziļums; E.calamita – mazs kopējais aizaugums (%) un smilšaina grunts. Ādažu poligonā ir pietiekami daudzveidīgi apstākļi, lai abinieku sugām nodrošinātu nārstošanas nišas., For this work was studied potential spawning places of 5 amhibian species (Rana arvalis; Rana lessonae; Epidalea calamita; Pelobates fuscus; Triturus vulgaris) in the firing range “Ādaži”. The aim of this research was: to find out specific ecological characters of water basins and analyse factors which form the breeding niche of amphibians. Field has been made at C sector of the landfill, as sampling plots used ponds, which have been founded. The information about coordinates, size, depth, vegetation and the common amphibians of pond was collected. The main results: in this research was approved that there are factors which indicate specificity of species: P.fuscus – overgrowth of macrophytes (%); R.lessonae – cover of sedge and sludge (%); R.arvalis – total overgrowth (%) and depth; E.calamita – pure total overgrowth (%) and sandy soil. There are enough variable conditions to provide breeding niches for each species of amphibian in the firing range “Ādaži”.

Latvijā īpaši aizsargājama gludenā čūska līdz šim ir maz pētīta. Šī pētījuma mērķi bija izpētīt gludenās čūskas un tās barības objektu - citu rāpuļu sastopamību, izplatību, biotopus un to pārklāšanos Slokas un Vecajā purvos. Visbiežāk šeit sastopama ir trauslā glodene, visretāk - parastā odze, bet gludenā čūska, parastais zalktis un pļavas ķirzaka - vidēji bieži. Gludenā čūska apdzīvo teritorijas centrālo daļu, zalktis - dažādas vietas pie ūdenstilpnēm, bet pārējie izplātīti vienmērīgi. Gludenā čūska apdzīvo ekotopus un biotopus agrā sukcesijas stadijā, odze - traucētus kūdreņus, zalktis biežāk novērots netraucētos mežos, pļavas ķirzaka - mežos un mežmalās, bet glodene - ceļmalās joslās un kūdreņos. Gludenās čūskas apdzīvotie biotopi pilnīgi pārklājas ar trauslās glodenes biotopiem, kura šeit varētu būt svarīgākais čūskas barības objekts., In Latvia specially protected smooth snake is poorly studied. Goals were to investigate the smooth snake's and it's feeding objects - other reptile distribution, abundance, biotopes and their overlapping in Slokas and Vecais bogs. The most common species is slow worm, less the smooth snake, grass snake and common lizard, but the rarest is common viper. The smooth snake inhabits central part of the territory, the grass snake - parts near water bodies, but others are distributed evenly. The first mostly inhabits ecotopes and overgrowing biotopes, the second - undisturbed forests, viper - forests cuttings, the slow worm - road embankment biotopes and drained forests, but the common lizard - forests and forest verges. The smooth snake's biotopes clearly overlap with the slow worm's biotopes, which here may be a major feeding object.

Darbā analizēti dati par trīs Dendrobates ģints sugu Dendrobates auratus, Dendrobates leucomelas, Dendrobates tinctorius kurkuļiem un pieaugušajiem indivīdiem. Darbs veikts Rīgas Nacionālā Zooloģiskā dārza (RNZD) Abinieku nodaļā laika posmā no 2010. gada oktobra līdz 2011.gada aprīlim. Papildus šajā laika posmā iegūtajiem datiem, darbā analizēti arī dati, kas iegūti RNZD sākot ar 2003. gadu. Darbā novērtēta temperatūras ietekme uz Dendrobates ģints kurkuļu attīstības ātrumu un pieaugušo indivīdu nārstošanas biežumu. Salīdzinot iegūtos rezultātus ar citiem literatūras avotiem un pētījumiem, mēģināts noskaidrot Dendrobates ģints kurkuļu optimālākās audzēšanas temperatūras. Skatīts arī vai pastāv saistība starp varžu nārstošanas biežumu un Mēness fāzēm. Datu apstrādē izmantotas korelācijas, regresijas un dispersijas analīzes. Starp sugām un pat starp vienas sugas divām krāsu formām tika novērotas nelielas atšķirības tajā, cik izteikta ir ūdens temperatūras ietekme uz kurkuļu attīstības ātrumu. Tomēr kopumā rezultāti liecina, ka visu pētīto Dendrobates ģints kurkuļu straujāka attīstība noris pie augstākām ūdens temperatūrām un attīstības ātrums sarūk, ja kurkuļu audzēšanas temperatūras ir zemākas. Tika secināts, kas optimālākās šīs ģints kurkuļu audzēšanas temperatūras ir tās, pie kurām kurkuļu attīstība noris līdzīgi to dabiskajiem apstākļiem. Analizējot pieaugušo Dendrobates ģints nārsošanas biežumu un gaisa temperatūru terārijā, nekāda sasitība netika atrasta. Visticamāk, ka šajā gadījumā, par temperatūru svarīgāks ir bijis kāds cits ietekmējošais faktors. Savukārt pretēji sanāca, analizējot nārstošanas biežumu saistībā ar Mēness fāzēm, kur atklājās, ka visas pētījumā izmantotās sugas nārstojušas pārsvarā Augošā vai Dilstošā Mēnesī. Pētījumi par dažādu faktoru ietekmi uz abinieku vairošanos ir nozīmīgi, to skaita samazināšanaš dēļ. Šī pētījuma nākamais solis būtu papildus temperatūras un Mēness fāzēm analizēt vēl citas pazīmes (ūdens režīmu, ķermeņa izmērus, izdzīvošanas rādītājus)., This scientific paper contains data analyses of tadpoles and adult frogs of three different species of genus Dendrobates: Dendrobates auratus, Dendrobates leucomelas and Dendrobates tinctorius. The research was done in Amphibian Department of Riga National Zoo during the time period October 2010 – April 2011. In addition to the data gained in those months, previously gained data (from the year 2003 onwards) was also analysed. The paper investigates the influence of temperature on the development of tadpoles and on the rate of spawning. One of the goals was to fact-find the optimal breeding temperatures of dendrobatid tadpoles by comparing the results of this research with other scientific information. Another matter was icnluded in the research - whether there is a correlation between spawning rate of adult dendrobatid frogs and the phases of the Moon. In data analysis correlation, regression and dispersion analysis was made. The observations concluded that the influence of water temperature on tadpole growth varies depending on the dendrobatid spieces and that the effects change even in different colour morphs of the same spieces. Overall the results show that all studied dendrobatid tadpoles develop faster in higher water temperatures, and that their developmental rate decreases if the water is cooler. It was understood that the optimal temperatures for rearing dendrobatid tadpoles are those in which their developmental progress is similar to that in natural habitat. When analysing dendrobatid frog spawning rate and temperatures in the terrarium, no coherence was found. Most likely a factor greather than the temperature of air influenced the spawning of frogs during this research. However, when it comes to analysing the influence of Moon phases on the frog spawning, it was discovered that in most cases they spawned during Waxing or Waning Moon. The investigations of the influence of different factors on amphibian breeding are important because of the decline in amphibian population all over the world. After this research, the next step would be to analyse also the effects of other parameters, such as water regime, speciment body size, survival rate.
