In this work, efficient NiO nanoparticles/TiO2 nanorods p-n heterojunction structure photocatalyst is constructed by reasonable design of two-step calcination technology and examined for hydrogen production activity from methanol-water mixture. In the NiO/TiO2 heterojunction structure small NiO nanoparticles are evenly distributed on the surface of TiO2 and tightly connected together with TiO2, as it was determined by microscope characterization techniques, which conducive to the interface transport of photogenerated carriers. The novelty of this paper is the detailed characterization of NiO/TiO2 photocatalysts by electrochemical technics as Transient photocurrent response, Mott-Schottky plots, linear sweep voltammograms and Electrochemical impedance spectroscopy and their correlation with photoactivity. The rationally designed NiO/TiO2 p-n heterojunction promotes the transfer of photogenerated electrons and inhibits carrier recombination. The highest hydrogen production was exhibited in the presence of the 2-NiO/TiO2 composite during 3 h of UV irradiation (701 mu mol/g(cat).), which exceeded the activity of pure TiO2 by more than 1.3 times. The loss of photocatalytic hydrogen yield is negligible after repeating cycle reactions. A memory effect is the ability to restore the original, lamellar layered double hydroxide structure. Herein, we have described 1) the changes in the structural and basic properties of ZnAl mixed oxides during their transformation into ZnAl-reconstructed LDHs (RE-LDHs); 2) the extraordinary properties of ZnAl RE-LDHs compared to the original ZnAl LDHs; and 3) the changes of basic properties during the interaction of ZnAl RE-LDHs with atmospheric CO2. Aldol condensation was selected as probe reaction to prove the catalytic potential of ZnAl RE-LDHs. We have described a target method for preparing ZnAl RE-LDHs with a large number of basic sites. ZnAl RE-LDHs possess significantly higher furfural conversion in the aldol condensation of furfural than MOs. The structural, textural, and basic properties of the studied materials were described by temperature-programmed analysis, X-ray diffraction, N-2 adsorption, temperature-programmed desorption of CO2, and in-situ diffuse reflectance spectroscopy., V článku jsou popsány změny ve struktuře a bazických vlastnostech ZnAl směsných oxidů během jejich transformace do ZnAl- rekonstruovaných LDHs. Je popsána mimořádná změna vlastností ve srovnání s původními ZnAl LDHs a změny bazických vlastností během interakce s atmosférickým CO2.

This manuscript presents the preparation of well-oriented @MgAl-layered double hydroxides (LDHs). It extends the reported preparation of SiO2@MgAl-LDH core-shell material (Si/(Si + Mg + Al) molar ratio = 0.54, Mg/Al = 2). There is introduced a new method for the gradual and controlled removal of the SiO2 core from SiO2@MgAl-LDH on treatment with a NaOH solution (1 M) for 1, 2, 4, and 6 h Si/(Si + Mg + Al) molar ratio from 0.06 to 0.52, Mg/Al = 2). Subsequent SiO2 leaching led to empty spheres with properties of the crystalline MgAl-LDH phase preserved. It is proved that @MgAl-LDH spheres formed do not collapse and hence, preserve their orig-inal spherical shape and structural properties. The potential of @MgAl-mixed oxides (MOs) obtained by thermal treatment of @MgAl-LDHs in catalysis is also demonstrated. When this material was used for the aldol condensation reaction of furfural with acetone, the best furfural conversion was obtained for @MgAl-MO with a Si/(Si + Mg + Al) molar ratio of 0.11., Nová metoda kontrolovaného odstranění jader SiO2 z SiO2@MgAl-LDH je představena. Hydrotalcites (HTCs) are promising solid base catalysts to produce advanced biofuels by aldol condensation. Their main potential lies in the tunability of their acid-base properties by varying their composition. However, the relationship between the composition of hydrotalcites, their basicity, and their catalytic performance has not yet been fully revealed. Here, we investigate systematically the preparation of HTCs with the general formula of Mg6M23+(OH)(16)CO3 center dot 4H(2)O, where M3+ stands for Al, Ga, Fe, and In, while keeping the Mg/M3+ equal to 3. We use an array of analytical methods including XRD, N-2 physisorption, CO2-TPD, TGA-MS, FTIR-ATR, and SEM to assess changes in the properties and concluded that the nature of M3+ affected the HTC crystallinity. We show that the basicity of the HTC-derived mixed oxides decreased with the increase in atomic weight of M3+, which was reflected by decreased furfural conversion in its aldol condensation with acetone. We demonstrate that all MgM3+ mixed oxides can be fully rehydrated, which boosted their activity in aldol condensation. Taking all characterization results together, we conclude that the catalytic performance of the rehydrated HTCs is determined by the ""host"" MgO component, rather than the nature of M3+., Hydrotalcity jsou nadějné materiály pro katalýzu v pevné fázi, která vede k produkci bionafty pomocí aldolové kondenzace. The manuscript describes the key aspects of Zn-Al mixed oxides prepared by different methods (the so-called urea method and co-precipitation methods using either NaOH/Na2CO3 alkaline solution or solution of NaOH) affording high conversion and selectivity values in aldol condensation of furfural with acetone. The structure, composition and acid-base properties of Zn-Al mixed oxides were described by using of TGA, XRD, N-2-adsorption, TPD-NH3/CO2 and in-situ diffuse reflectance spectroscopy and correlated with the catalytic performance of a series of Zn-Al mixed-oxides catalysts. Along with the impact of specific surface area and basicity on the furfural conversion, the conversion of furfural also increased with the increasing value of the edge of UV-vis spectrum of Zn-Al mixed oxide reflecting ZnO-Al2O3 interaction. We have introduced a simple method based on diffuse reflectance spectroscopy with a potential to predict furfural conversion over Zn-Al mixed oxides in aldol condensation of furfural with acetone., Práce popisuje klíčové aspekty Zn-Al směsných oxidů připravených různými metodami a vykazujících vysokou konverzi a selektivitu v aldolové kondenzaci furfuralu s acetonem. The study is focused on the photocatalytic ability of nanocrystalline oxides Fe2O3 and CeO2 (marked as Fe and Ce) and their 8:2, 5:5 and 2:8 M ratio mixtures (marked as Fe8Ce2, Fe5Ce5 and Fe2Ce8) for the hydrogen production via water splitting. The photocatalysts were prepared using a precipitation procedure both in a ""standalone"" powder form and in form of the Fe2O3/CeO2 nanoparticles precipitated on vermiculite (Ver). The phase composition and the specific surface area of the samples, the size and morphology of nanocrystallites of individual phases, and the optical and electronic properties of the photocatalysts were characterized in detail by Xray powder diffraction, nitrogen physisorption, transmission electron microscopy, diffuse reflectance UV-Vis spectroscopy and work function measurements. Photocatalytic water splitting over the photocatalysts was performed during 8 h in annular batch photoreactor illuminated with 8 W Hg lamp (lambda = 254 nm). The most active photocatalysts were Fe8Ce2 both in ""stand-alone"" powder form and in form of the photocatalyst attached on vermiculite. The photocatalytic generation of hydrogen in the presence of the Fe2O3/CeO2 photocatalysts is controlled by the intrinsic photocatalytic properties of the oxides and by the specific surface of the composite. It is enhanced, when heterojunctions between Fe2O3 and CeO2 form. The work function measurements confirmed the formation of heterojunction Type I with bent bands, which effectively inhibits the recombination of photogenerated charge carriers. In addition, it was confirmed that the anchoring of the photocatalyst on vermiculite does not significantly degrade the photocatalytic activity of the composite. In contrast, even if the amount of the photocatalytically active component was three-times smaller as compared with the photocatalysts without vermiculite, just a slight decrease of the photocatalytic activity was observed., Studie je zaměřena na fotokatalytické schopnosti katalyzátorů na bázi nanokrystalických oxidů Fe2O3 a CeO2 při produkci vodíku pomocí štěpení vody. Diploma thesis is focused on so-called core-shell systems, solid-state materials used in heterogenous catalysis. In detail, core-shell SiO2 CuMgAl LDH (layered double hydroxide) based materials are studied. The materials are synthesized with various Cu/Mg molar ratio (0.05-0.50) while keeping (Cu+Mg)/Al molar ratio at a constant value of 2. Original core shell materials are treated in 0.25 M NaOH solution to partially dissolve SiO2 core (synthesis of hollow shell CuMgAl LDH materials). Prepared core shell SiO2 CuMgAl LHD and hollow shell CuMgAl LHD materials have been characterized with respect to their structural properties (XRD), morphology (SEM, TEM), composition (EDX) and textural properties (N2 adsorption). Finally, hollow shell materials are calcined at 450 °C for 4 hours resulting in the formation of CuMgAl mixed oxides used as catalysts in Guerbet reaction with ethanol. CuMgAl mixed oxides are additionally characterized for acid-base properties (TPD) and redox properties (TPR). Core shell and hollow shell materials are described in the introduction. In detail, their preparation and utilization are discussed. The main attention is focused on the process of removing the core from the core-shell material to obtain hollow shell materials. There, possibilities of their characterization are also discussed. Catalytic behavior of mixed oxides prepared from hollow shell CuMgAl LHD materials in Guerbet reaction with ethanol is also considered. The aim of this work is (i) to determine whether or not it is possible to prepare core shell materials with CuMgAl layered double hydroxides perpendicularly onto a nonporous silica core, (ii) to find if it is possible to remove silica core and leave the shell intact, (iii) to evaluate the benefits of hollow shell CuMgAl LDHs in contrast to classical CuMgAl LDHs, and (iv) to evaluate the potential of CuMgAl mixed oxides obtained by thermal treatment of hollow shell CuMgAl LDHs for Guerbet reaction., Diplomová práce je soustředěna na takzvané core shell (jádro skořápka) systémy - pevné materiály používané nejen v oblasti heterogenní katalýzy. Do detailu jsou studovány materiály založené na core shell SiO2 CuMgAl LDH (podvojné vrstevnaté hydroxidy) s různými molárními poměry Cu/Mg v rozmezí od 0,05 do 0,50. Molární poměr (Cu+Mg)/Si zůstává udržován konstantní na hodnotě 2. Původní core shell SiO2 CuMgAl LDH materiály jsou upraveny ponořením do 0,25 M roztoku NaOH za účelem rozpuštění SiO2 jádra, čímž jsou připraveny CuMgAl LDH materiály strukturně podobné dutým skořápkám (hollow shell). U takto připravených core shell SiO2 CuMgAl a hollow shell CuMgAl LDH materiálů byly studovány jejich strukturní vlastnosti (XRD), jejich morfologie (SEM, TEM) a jejich povrchové vlastnosti (N2 adsorpce). Nakonec byly materiály kalcinovány při teplotě 450 °C po dobu 4 hodin, což vedlo k vytvoření CuMgAl směsných oxidů, které byly použity ke katalýze Guerbetovy reakce s ethanolem. Směsné oxidy byly navíc charakterizovány pomocí TPD ke zjištění jejich acidobazických vlastností a pomocí TPR ke zjištění vlastností redoxních. Materiály na bázi core shell a hollow shell jsou popsány v úvodu. Do detailů je diskutována jejich příprava a možnosti využití. Hlavní důraz diplomové práce je kladen na průběh odstraňování jádra z core shell materiálu, což vede k úspěšné přípravě hollow shell materiálů (tzv. dutých skořápek). Diskuse je také vedena k možnostem charakterizace takovýchto materiálů, stejně jako k jejich katalytickému využití v Guerbetově reakci ethanol. Tato práce se zaměřuje na (i) určení, zda je možné připravit materiály typu core shell z CuMgAl podvojných vrstevnatých hydroxidů nanesených kolmo na jádru z neporézní siliky, (ii) zjištění, jestli je možné SiO2 jádro odstranit bez porušení tzv. skořápky (iii) zhodnocení výhod CuMgAl hollow shell LDH materiálů (LDH dutých skořápek) v porovnání s klasickými CuMgAl LDH materiály, a (iv) zhodnocení potenciálu CuMgAl směsných oxidů připr, Fakulta chemicko-technologická, Doc. Čičmanec představil studenta a komisi a vyzval studenta k prezentaci diplomové práce. Student přednesl prezentaci k diplomové práci. prof.
