The aim of this study was to show the extent of the influence of the shift work on nutritional status and physical activity of police officers. The research included 130 healthy police officers. The respondents were divided into two groups. The first group included 82 officers who were working the first shift. The second group included 48 officers who were working the 12hour shift. The study used customized questionnaire consisting of questions regarding leisure-time physical activity, self-report lifestyle activity level, body height, body mass, and derived body mass index (BMI). The ANOVA analysis showed that the first shift had significantly lower BMI (2.57 kg/m2 , p = 0.004) than the 12-hour shift. The results showed that physical activity is strongly associated with lower values of BMI in both groups (p < 0.01). Regarding the correlation between age and years of service, only the 12-hour shift showed coherency (p < 0.01). Although there was no difference in the level of physical activity between police officers from different shifts, declines in physical activity were associated with higher values of BMI.

The aim of the research is to determine the reliability of testing various contractile functions of a male hand based on motoric and functional dominance and age. The examinee takes a seat with their arm extended or mildly flexed in a mildly abducted position. For the measuring purposes, dynamometric probe with isometric straining conditions fixed to a special construction was used. The 'Isometrics' (ver. 3.1.1) was used and frequency of data selection was realized on the level of 500 Hz. The sample includes 269 male examinees aged from 14.0 to 69.9. The results of descriptive statistics have shown that in relation to the tested sample for the non-dominant hand, values for maximum force (Fmax) range from 462.8 to 529.0 N, for explosive force (RFDmax) the range is from 1621.6 to 1972.8 N/s and for muscular force impulse (ImpF50%max) from 8203.9 to 15552.3 Ns, while Fmax values the dominant hand ranges from 478.1 to 566.2 N, for RFDmax it ranges from 1742.6 to 2119.0 N/s and for ImpF50%max 9516.7 to 16845.1 Ns. The results have shown that it is reliable to measure all three examined contractile hand characteristics where by ICC ranges from 0.938 to 0.977 for Fmax, from 0.903 to 0.971 for RFDmaxand from 0.747 to 0.943 for ImpF50%max. The second try as the better result should be considered the representational value for Fmaxand RFDmaxvariables, regardless of the hand dominance or age group. While for the variable ImpF50%max, in the age groups from 35.0 to 49.9 and from 50.0 to 69.9, the first tested try for both hands should be considered, in 14.0 to 19.9 years group the second try should be taken into consideration, and in 20.0 to 34.9 age range, the better result of the non-dominant hand is the first try, and of the dominant is the second try.

Assessment of the intensity of hand grip force is applied in different areas of research activities. Generally researchers test the maximum intensity of the hand grip force, while the respondents are less frequently asked to achieve the defined intensity of force without visual feedback. This study aims to determine the differences in error variabilities in achieving the defined hand grip force, without the visual feedback, in healthy adults of both sexes. A standardized test - the handgrip test was used for the purpose of this study. Forty participants took part in this study, 19 women and 21 men, with the median age of 37. ANOVA and t-test were used in order to determine the differences in the manifestation of errors of hand grip force, within and between the subject groups. A statistically significant difference in the manifestation of errors within the group of male subjects appeared at 10% of the maximum grip force, whereas the female group demonstrated it at 90% of the maximum force. Between both groups, a significant difference in the manifestation of errors manifested at 90% of the maximum force of the left non-dominant hand. Subjects of both sexes have erred at lower defined levels of force, while at submaximal levels, errors decreased significantly. In general, male subjects were more accurate than female. Moreover, there was a statistically significant difference in the attainment of maximum force in both hands between men and women. The results can be used as an indicator for further research in special education and rehabilitation, as well as in medical and vocational rehabilitation.

- Abstract
Purpose – The purpose of the study is to determine the prevalence of stress and to identify the occupational stressors among Lebanese police officers. Design/methodology/approach – Operational Police Stress Questionnaire (PSQ-op) was addressed to 100 randomly selected male Lebanese Police officers. Twenty items from the PSQ-op were run through the principal component analysis to determine the most significant factors of stress and loading within each of the factors. Findings – The results indicated that 59% of officers reported moderate stress level and 41% reported strenuous stress. Principal component analysis identified six independent factors or stress among Lebanese police officers explaining in total 72.1% of the total variance: excessive workload (30.6%), social-life time management (12.8%), occupational fitness (9.1%), success-related stress (8.6%), physical and psychological health (5.8%), and working alone at night (5.2%). Research limitations/implications – This research approach encountered some limitations so further research must: use a larger sample size, include female gender and identify other sources of stressors mainly organizational or job context stressors. Originality/value – Addressing and understanding stress factors among Lebanese police officers helps improving awareness and developing individualized treatment strategies leading police officers to engage in stress-management training to learn coping strategies and use effective tools for preventing stress before it becomes chronic.

Law enforcement is a stressful occupation with both work-related and social-related stressors. Too much stress can negatively affect behaviours, mental states, and job performance. Centralized police organizations limit officers' individual autonomy, likely increasing stress. This study examined differences in occupational stress in two different European countries and one Middle East country. Participants were 351 male police officers from Serbia (n = 130, age 36 ± 8 years), Russia (n = 121, age 22 ± 4 years), and Lebanon (n = 100, age 36 ± 6 years) who completed the 20-item Operational Police Stress Questionnaire in their own language. Items were averaged and interpreted as low (≤2.0), stress (2.1–3.4), and high stress (≥3.5). Analysis of covariance (ANCOVA) analyses using age as the covariate with Bonferroni post hoc analyses were used. A principal component analysis (PCA) was used to determine stress structure per country. Significant differences were found with lower occupational stress in Russian (P < 0.001) and Lebanon (P = 0.003) than Serbian officers. PCA factor patterns differed by country, with six found for Russian and Lebanese and three for Serbian officers. More work-related stressors were rated higher for the younger Russian officers, while more social-related stressors were rated higher for the older Serbian officers. Results suggest that it is vital to consider officers' stress sources and overall stress levels. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

This research set as the primary goal to define the influences of morphological and kinetic parameters on the jump height of female volleyball players of different levels of competitiveness. On the basis of secondary goals, the level of influence of morphological and kinetic parameters on the jump height compared to the level of training has been determined, and models for predicting various jumps on the basis of morphological and kinetic variables have been defined. The research included 63 female examinees, divided into three groups. The first group comprised 18 top trained volleyball players. The players were active elite competitors, members of Serbian senior selection (OS) and participants at the European or World championships, or at the Olympic Games. The second group comprised 20 volleyball players that were active competitors at the national clubs of the Super league of Serbia (SL). The third, control group (KG) comprised 25 female students of the University of Belgrade that practiced physical exercises for recreation purposes. Testing range has been defined on the basis of 65 variables divided into 3 dimensions: 1) body composition, 2) dynamic indicators, 3) contractile characteristics of leg extensors isometric force. Testing protocol comprised three sessions performed on the same day. The first session measured body composition using bioimpedance (BIA) and 8-polar multifrequency method (InBody720, Biospace Co., Seoul, Korea). In the second session, dynamic performances (different jump heights) were measured. The examinees had the task to achieve maximum jump height by using their personal preferred technique. Height of different jumps had been measured, in particular: jump without arm swing, jump with arm swing, block jump, jump with previous pre-jump from a 40 cm high bench. The third session measured contractile characteristics in isometric conditions of extension. The task of the examinees was to achieve a maximum isometric muscle effort, i.e. tension in the shortest amount of time (the position of ix bilateral leg press). The testing has been realized in isometric conditions of force with their thigh and lower leg at an angle of 120°, and lower leg and foot angle at an angle of 90° respectively...

The problem of this research is: what is the characteristic of the speed of individual hand movements, and how to change the response time in children aged 8 to 14 years? The aim of the study is to determine the response time i.e. the speed characteristics of individual movements of the dominant hand, the non-dominant hand and the dominant hand with the fencing foil in relation to age. The hypothesis is that maturation affects the speed of individual hand movements and the simple reaction time (SRT) i.e. response time. The sample consisted of 184 subjects aged 8 to 14 years. The study used the one-target shot - Electronic Fencing Target on the Favero Scoring device. The speed of individual movement of the dominant hand (Dom_H), the speed of individual movement of the non-dominant hand (NDom_H) and the speed of individual movement of the dominant hand with fencing foil (Dom_H_F) were tested. Multivariate analysis of variance (MANOVA) found that the criterion of age, or maturation, has statistically significant influence on the speed of individual hand movements (Wilks' Lambda = 0.519; F = 4.105; p = 0.000). The highest maturation effect was found in the speed of individual movement of the dominant hand with fencing foil (Dom_H_F - F = 6.923; p = 0.000; PES = 0.289), while in the Dom_H test (F = 4.782; p = 0.000; PES = 0.220) and NDom_H (F = 4.671; p = 0.000; PES = 0.216) was found a slightly lower effect. Maturation has a positive effect on the speed of individual hand movements in children aged 8 to 14. The effect is the highest when the fencing foil is used. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

- Abstract
Zadatak ispitanica je bio da u sedećem položaju ostvare maksimalni izometrijski mišićni napor tj. tenziju, u što kraćem vremenskom periodu (poz, This research set as the primary goal to define the influences of morphological and kinetic parameters on the jump height of female volleyball players of different levels of competitiveness. The task of the examinees was to achieve a maximum isometric muscle effort, i.e. tension

- Abstract
The results can be used as an indicator for further research in special education and rehabilitation, as well as in medical and vocational rehabilitation., Procena intenziteta sile stiska šake se primenjuje u različitim oblastima istraživačke delatnosti.

relation ,leg extensors ,isometric muscle force ,rate of force development - Abstract
The aim of this research was to establish the relation between maximal isometric force and different indicators of isometric explosive force of leg extensors (iRFD). The sample consisted of 83 participants divided into 2 groups in terms of gender, males N=53 and females N=30. In order to assess the characteristics of the F-t isometric leg extensor force, tensiometric probes and the standardized 'seated leg extension' test were used. The measurement range was defined by 6 variables for the contractile characteristics of the leg extensor isometric muscle force - 1) the level of achieved maximal force - FmaxLEGEXTISO, 2) the indicator of the basic (general) level of rate of force development - RFDBASICLEGEXTISO, 3) the indicator of the specific level of rate of force development - RFD50%LEGEXTISO, and three indicators for evaluating the special level of the explosive force development, i.e. leg extensor explosiveness, 4) measured at 250ms - RFD250msLEGEXTISO, 5) measured at 180ms - RFD180msLEGEXTISO, 6) measured at 100ms - RFD100msLEGEXTISO. The results of the linear regression in the males showed a positive correlation between FmaxLEGEXTISO and RFD50%LEGEXTISO F=16.298, p=0.000; and RFD250msLEGEXTISO F=40.754, p=0.000; and RFD180msLEGEXTISO F=18.660, p=0.000; and RFD100msLEGEXTISO F=5.430, p=0.024; in the females with RFDBASICLEGEXTISO F=10.099, p=0.004; with RFD50%LEGEXTISO F=13.585, p=0.001; with RFD250msLEGEXTISO F=35.469, p=0.000; with RFD180msLEGEXTISO F=14.698, p=0.001. The results of this study showed that the combination of the maximal exertion method, with the aim of developing maximal force or strength, and plyometrics, with the aim of developing the intensity of contraction in its different phases, from the aspect of training technology, is absolutely advisable and reasonable. This may have important practical implications when designing resistance training programs for specific sportsdeling.

The aim of this study was to define a practical multidimensional model for assessing the general level of jumping performance relative to playing positions in elite female volleyball players, successful competitors at top international levels. The present study undertook the task to determine whether there were differences related to jumping performance in elite female volleyball players in relation to their playing position in the game (Correction, Receiver, Blocker, Setter and Libero). A set of 7 variables was used to assess the jumping levels, with 6 variables covering the space of vertical jumping while 1 variable covered horizontal jumping skills. Standardized field tests (Abalakov method and standing long jump) were used for all measurements. The data were processed by the multivariate statistical method. The results indicated that there were no general statistically significant differences between jumping skill levels in elite female volleyball players relative to playing positions (Wilks' Lambda Value - 0.135, F relation - 1.281, p = 0.204) measured by the method applied. According to the descriptive results for the general jumping score (JUMP
score ), the elite female volleyball players at Receiver positions had the highest jumping scores with 66.58 ± 9.18 score points, while Setters scored the lowest, 54.52 ± 10.34. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]- Published
