Aim: To analyse the state of medical rehabilitation services for musculoskeletal disorders under contracts of the National Health Service of Ukraine (NHSU) at the regional level and identify possible problems in terms of health care reform. Materials and Methods: Normative documents regulating the provision of rehabilitation care in the health care system of Ukraine, and published by the NHSU information on concluded agreements on medical care under the Medical Guarantees Program were used as materials of the study. The research embraced methods of system analysis, structural-logical analysis, medical-statistical, graphic and bibliosemantic methods. Conclusions: The analysis of NHSU contracts in 2021 revealed that funding for packages of medical rehabilitation services for musculoskeletal disorders involves the provision of services in 129,170 cases, which is only 0.8% of the 2019 need. It was established that in Transcarpathian region in 2021 the amount of contracting for medical rehabilitation for musculoskeletal disorders was 45.4% of the funds for all rehabilitation packages in the region. With the increase in the total funding of signed contracts in the region, the number of projected cases of rehabilitation care in this area decreased by 9.9%. The provision of medical rehabilitation services for musculoskeletal disorders in Ukraine is insufficient and does not cover the potential needs of the population. At the regional level, there is a decrease in the number of planned cases of such services, but an increase in the number of health care facilities that provide them. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Materiał i metody. W badaniu porównano dane epidemiologiczne dotyczące urazów stawu skokowego u dorosłych i dzieci, zebrane w okresie pandemii COVID-19 (2020) i odpowiadającego jej okresu przed pandemią (2019). Wyniki. Całkowita liczba pacjentów hospitalizowanych z powodu złamań w obrębie stawu skokowego w ocenianym okresie pandemii była o 34% niższa niż w analogicznym okresie przedpandemicznym w 2019 roku. W subpopulacji pacjentów pediatrycznych wykazano 70% spadek w analizowanym okresie pandemii COVID-19. Liczba hospitalizowanych kobiet zmniejszyła się o 12%, a hospitalizowanych mężczyzn o 53%. Wnioski. 1. Badanie to pokazało wpływ pandemii COVID-19 na epidemiologię i metody leczenia urazów stawu skokowego. 2. Epidemia COVID-19 spowodowała zmniejszenie ilości pacjentów z urazami stawu skokowego, w szczególności dzieci i mężczyzn. 3. Lockdown znacząco wpłynął na ograniczenie ilości urazów stawu skokowego leczonych zachowawczo jak i operacyjnie. 4. Należy zwrócić uwagę na tendencję ortopedów i lekarzy oddziałów ratunkowych do częstszego kwalifikowania pacjentów do leczenia zachowawczego. W efekcie wydłuża to jedynie proces terapeutyczny oraz czas do ostatecznego zaopatrzenia operacyjnego., Ankle joint injuries are an important orthopedic issue due to their high incidence and the variety of treatment methods available. This study assessed the effect of the COVID-19 pandemic on the epidemiology and treatment of ankle joint injuries. There is lack of papers which address this problem. Material and methods. This study compared epidemiological data on ankle joint injuries in adults and children collected during the period of the COVID-19 pandemic (2020) and a corresponding prepandemic period (2019). Epide - miological data, demographic data, treatment methods, hospital stay duration, and injury-to-surgery time were analyzed. Results. The total number of patients hospitalized for ankle fractures in the evaluated pandemic period was lower by 34% than that in the corresponding prepandemic period in 2019. The pediatric patient subpopulation showed a 70% decline during the analyzed period of COVID-19 pandemic. The number of hospitalized females declined by 12%, and the number of hospitalized males dropped by 53%. Conclusions. 1. Our study showed the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on the epidemiology and treatment of an kle joint injuries. 2. The COVID-19 pandemic effected a decrease in the number of patients with ankle joint injuries, particularly pediatric and male patients with these injuries. 3. National lockdown measures had a considerable effect on lowering the numbers of pediatric pa tients with ankle joint injuries treated conservatively. 4. Importantly, the tendency can be noted among orthopedic surgeons and emergency room doctors to more readily qualify orthopedic patients for a trial of conservative treatment. This only prolongs the duration of treatment and time to the ul timate therapeutic surgery.

BACHELOR THESIS ABSTRACT Author: Natálie Bakosová Supervisor: Mgr. Silvie Táborská Title: Role of physiotherapy in preventing injuries of floorball players Abstract: This theoretical-practical thesis focuses on the role of physiotherapy in preventing injuries by floorball players. The theoretical part consists of 6 various topics. The first topic is a general introduction to this sport, its history, rules, and course. The second topic focuses on the analysis of movement aspects typical for this sport, and the third one evaluates the impact of floorball on the musculoskeletal system. Next, the issue of the most common injuries in floorball and their causes are introduced. The fifth topic concentrates on the possibilities of prevention of injuries. The last topic is the role of physiotherapy and its application for intervention in preventing injuries in floorball. The practical part has two aims. The primary one is to create a modified neuromuscular training program (inspired by a Finnish study by Pasanen et al. (2008b)) which is subsequently applied to the players. The program is used as a physiotherapist intervention for the prevention of injuries. The practical use of this program was tested in three case reports of players from the floorball team TJ Sokol Dobříš. The secondary aim is to map the presence...

Introduction: Some contributory factors are commonly known. If a person suffers from dizziness, for example, they will be more likely to lose balance and fall, which, in turn, leads to trauma. The influence of alcohol consumption on the incidence of injury has also been well documented in numerous studies. Other rel- evant factors, however, have received various assessments and recognition by different researchers. There is some disagreement among scientists concerning obesity. The aim of the thesis was to determine the influence of various factors on the incidence of injury. Materials and methods: The subjects used for the study were 800 patients receiving emergency treatment in the emergency department and hospitalised in the Department of Orthopaedics, Traumatology and Locomotor Oncology, Pomeranian Medical University in Szczecin (in Poland). The diagnostic survey method was employed. Results: Within the study group women were found to have a higher incidence of contusion. During a snowfall they also proved to suffer physical trauma more often than men. Men, on the other hand, displayed a higher incidence of injury at work. They were also more likely to suffer from torso injury. Younger individuals were more tired at the time of the accident than their older counterparts. Those having more sleep suffered fewer bone fractures. Conclusions: 1. The research showed that the group with the highest risk of trauma were women aged above 46 and suf- fering from hypertension. In contrast, for men the risk was highest among working individuals aged under 30. 2. Those with the highest incidence of injury were married couples with two children, having higher or vocational education, not working, living in towns with populations of over 200,000 and having a monthly income between 1000-2000 PLN per family member. 3. External factors like weather had the most significant impact on the incidence of injury sustained in motor vehicle accidents. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

- Abstract
The objective of the present article is to describe and evaluate a pilot traffic safety project, "Live to Be Twenty", run by the Kolečko endowment fund and its partners. Targeted at students in the 17-19 age category, the project was carried out from September 2015 to June 2016 at selected secondary schools, including grammar schools, in the Central Bohemia and Ústí nad Labem regions. The paper provides an outline of the basic concepts concerning the raising of public awareness of traffic safety-related issues, particularly as regards adolescents' risk-taking behaviour and their specific personality aspects and the ways in which the environment may influence their thinking and behaviour. General statistics showing the rates of injuries among children and adolescents are also provided. The main focus of the article is on prevention and traffic education, with a view to the secondary school context, and the young people's readiness to provide first aid. In addition, the paper examines thoroughly the effectiveness of the project and the degree of its effect on its participants. It seeks to establish to what extent the project may have influenced the thinking, attitudes, and behaviour of the young people who participated in it. The evaluation study was intended to answer the questions of whether and to what extent the project had an impact on the students (and for how long). The results suggest that the project had a significant effect on the students' attitudes and their readiness to provide first aid. However, this effect was short-lived: no effect was demonstrated at a three-month follow-up. In conclusion, the findings are, used to recommend changes for the future implementation of the project, including the better practical utilisation of the experience and results generated by the project and incorporating the project into a long-term and systematic policy covering the school-based prevention of risk behaviour. Background: Injuries are considered worldwide to be the most significant health problem, especially in childhood. In the Czech Republic, injuries are the most common cause of death among children and young adults. The aim of the study was to provide more insight in school accidents in the Czech Republic from 2008 to 2018 and to estimate future trends. Material and methods: Annual reports of the Czech School Inspectorate (CSI) from 2007 to 2017 were the main sources of data. Results: A high number of injuries occur in the school environment, especially at the primary level. In the Czech Republic, there has been a trend of rising numbers in reported school injuries over the last three years, from 33,000 in 2008 to 46,000 in 2018. Over the last 5 years, the number of reported accidents has increased by 1,000 per year. The most injuries occur in primary schools, within the subject Physical Education. Conclusions: There are many activities which focus on the prevention of child injuries, the incidence of which has improved in recent years. Experience shows that when prevention programs include innovations and interesting presentation methods, they are successful.

Summary Introduction and aim of the study: Volleyball is a team sport in which the results consist of a large number of factors. The risk of injury for daily training is very high. Volleyball is also an asymmetric sport, which further increases the risk of injury. Simple screening test, which is Functional Movement Screen, will reduce this risk, so I think that a lot of clubs will decide to implement of it. The main aim of this study is to present and compare the results of the functional assessment of motor and susceptibility to injury in female volleyball players and their interplay with injuries which happened in the last three years. Aim of the study was carried out based on the study material comprising a group of 15 women, practicing volleyball professionally. The research group age was between of 20-35 years. Material and Method: Functional Movement Screen- functional screening was the research method. It is using the seven tests which can assess the patient's/athlete’s basic movement patterns. All motion tasks are assessed on a scale 0 to 3. The players also filled the questionnaire. Results: Maximum disturbance revealed deep squat test. The smallest disorders showed shoulder mobility test for the left hand and in line lunge test for the left leg. Three of the five single limb tests showed asymmetry: hurdle step, deep squat, shoulder mobility. 53% of players have experienced a serious injury in the last three seasons. The two players with the highest number of FMS points have not been seriously injured so far. Discussion and Conclusion: The consistency between the FMS test results and the frequency of injuries in II league female volleyball players was different, then in other studies. For the participants deep squat was the most difficult test, over 50% of players had painful knees, average points in FMS test was 14,73.

Abstract Now widely publicised is a healthy and active lifestyle. Today is dominated by the fashion for health and to undertake various forms of physical activity. It is not surprising, therefore anyone growing interest in different sports disciplines, from running for fitness and bodybuilding. The increase in the level of physical activity and its active making is perceived not only among people involved in the sport professionally, but also among amateurs, which is now very popular. Sporting may unfortunately be associated with the formation of an injury and unwanted injuries within the human musculoskeletal system. Of course, along with the measures taken by the forms of physical activity may appear unpleasant ailments related to the perception of pain in the bones, joints, muscles or tendons. These aches and pains can also occur when performing everyday, routine life. In addition, the group that is particularly vulnerable to such unwanted injuries and aches and pains are people working physically, often performing repetitive movements. Often occur in these repetitive microtrauma. With age they may contribute to the formation of postures. One such example of micro-injuries within the upper extremity is tennis elbow. One of the effective treatments in addition to surgical treatment is physical therapy. These actions can reduce aches and pains, as well as curb the adverse effects of microdamage of within the elbow joint. Keywords: tennis elbow, injuries, physical therapy, rehabilitation.

Background. The lack of effective system solutions in the field of primary care, long waiting times for outpatient consultation in the framework of specialist care are the cause of those patient's applications to ED who do not require the use of emergency procedures. The ability to quickly get to ED and unrestricted patient access to health care services financed from public funds increase the likelihood of reporting to ED by the patients in non-urgent cases. Objectives. Analysis of the patient's attendance with minor injuries to ED. Material and methods. 155 patients of ED in Kędzierzyn-Koźle were examined by a diagnostic survey based on a copyright questionnaire. Results. Patients with minor injuries are generally people aged 11-40 years (66.7%; 100) self-referred to ED (92.7%; 139), with injuries of the extremities (72.7%; 109) that arise from falling, tripping, slipping, impaction (78.7%;11 8) during three hours of the onset of injury (57.3%; 87) with moderate symptoms. Respondents believe that the minor injuries require diagnostic radiology (38.7%; 58) and specialist consultations (34%; 51) and ED is the most appropriate place for their treatment (45.3%; 68). If these patients do not attend PHC (85.3%; 128) it does not mean that the patient does not trust in the possibility of treatment by a family physician (OR = 1.46, 95% CI [0.52; 4.55]; p = 0.49). Conclusions. It is important to educate patients about the role of ED in the health system, the possibility of dressing minor injuries in PHC, self-care in the field of minor injuries dressing and the harmful effects of excess X-rays on the human body. Background. Falls and traumas in elderly persons don't only result in health problems, but they also involve social and economic, psychological and political consequences. The most frequent trauma mechanisms in the elderly include: falls and traffic accidents. Objectives. The aim of the study was to assess selected factors influencing the energy, type and area of a trauma incurred by elderly people. Material and methods. A group of 108 patients aged 65-93 treated at the SPSK 1 in Szczecin were tested by a diagnostic survey with the use of a questionnaire. The eligibility criteria included a trauma as a result of an accident, the age of the subject above 65 years of age and expressing written, voluntary and informed consent to participation in the study. Results. 177 traumas were recorded in the analysed group of 108 patients. The most frequent traumas included fractures and contusions and the lower limbs and the left arm were the most frequently injured body parts. Men were more often injured during low-energy events. Patients more often had their upper body and left leg injured during low-energy events than during high-energy ones. In persons over 65 years of age, usually one fracture occurred during a low-energy accident. Conclusions. The most common result of injuries among people aged 65+ admitted to the emergency department are fractures. With age the number of LE T increases and the number of HET decreases. It's necessary therefore to create an appropriate health policy covering education for elderly people and their families to prevent injuries of low energy content. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

- Abstract
Background. Childhood injuries and accidents constitute an important health, social and economic problem. Serious injuries require surgical intervention and hospitalization. In other cases, patients leave hospital within several hours after diagnosis and non-operative treatment, and then they receive outpatient care. Despite a downward trend, injuries remain the main cause of death among children and adolescents. Therefore, understanding their epidemiology, which would allow us to create prevention programmes based on scientific evidence (evidence based medicine), is so important. Conclusions. 1. The age and gender of patients were factors determining injuries. 2. Seasons of the year have an influence on the structure of injuries among children. 3. It is necessary to increase social awareness on the prevention and negative effects of burns. Objectives. The study's objective was an attempt at analyzing childhood injuries treated in outpatient clinics. Material and methods. The study comprised 2182 children aged 0-18, including 692 females and 1490 males. Among them 1024 children treated surgically and 1158 outpatients. In the retrospective study the authors used a method of analysis of medical records of patients treated in 2012 at the Department of Child Surgery and Traumatology and Orthopaedics with the Operating Theatre in the Nicolaus Copernicus Province Hospital in Koszalin. The analysis was conducted on the basis of operative reports in the case of afflictions and injuries requiring surgery, and outpatient admissions reports in the case of outpatients. Results. Among the outpatients, the biggest group of injuries (34.83% or 403) included bruises, cuts, lacerations etc. Regarding frequency, injuries of hand area - 14.35% (166) and arm fractures - 13.4% (159) followed. - Abstract
Trauma represents one of the biggest challenges in modern-day medicine as it is the leading cause of death of people between 1 and 44 years of age. Resuscitation of the patient with traumatic arrest is different from the classical algorithm. Resuscitative thoracotomy plays an important role in the management of traumatic arrest patients mainly because it is directed at the treatment of the underlying causes e.g. cardiac tamponade decompression, haemorrhage control, internal cardiac massage and surgical management of cardiac wounds. Resuscitative thoracotomy may also be performed in pre-hospital settings. Nowadays indications for this procedure are better defined and its success rate reaches almost 70% in a clearly defined group of trauma patients. However, it is much higher in the case of patients with penetrating thoracic injury. Despite this promising data, resuscitative thoracotomy is still uncommon in the current practice, while present-day medical research is aimed at the search for high quality evidence of the effectiveness of this procedure. Current Status: The need of safety and security is one of the basic needs of a newborn. The nurses' role is to assess the level of education need in a newborn baby care and educate the mother accordingly, using a suitable method. The aim of the research was to assess the level of knowledge of mothers in a newborn care safety in home environment. Methodology: The study used quantitative method of research, using the technique of non-standardized survey. The selection of the respondents was intentional. The focus group were mothers of physiological newborns (N=300), that gave birth in Hospital in Jablonec nad Nisou between 15.11. 2020 and 30.1.2021. Results: Approximately half of the respondents (52 %) claimed that the benefit of postpartum bonding between a mother and her newborn is promotion of creation of breast milk. Only 45 % of respondents claimed that they wash their hands longer than 30 seconds and less than 1/5 of all respondents follow all six steps of proper hand washing. Less than half of the respondents (45 %) consider sleeping position on stomach or side of a newborn as a risk factor of SIDS. More than half of the respondents (60 %) knew how to resuscitate a newborn. The share of mothers in age category between 18-25 who answered wrong questions asking about CPR of a newborn was statistically significantly greater (p = 0,035) than share of mothers in higher age category. Respondents whose postpartum hospitalization lasted more than 72 hours claimed greater satisfaction with education in breast care statistically significantly more often (p = 0,029) than mothers hospitalized for shorter time. Respondents with primary level of education answered wrong questions asking about manipulation with a baby on a changing table statistically significantly more often (p = 0,046) than mothers with higher levels of education. Mothers having a fourth baby answered correctly question if blisters are a symptom of omphalitis, statistically significantly more often than mothers with less children (p = 0,014). Conclusion and Utilisation in Practice: Based on results of the research was created educational material "At Home with a Newborn Baby. A Few Handy Tips".

Poskytnutí první pomoci by mělo patřit mezi základní dovednosti všech občanů. Důležitou roli v této oblasti pak hrají zejména učitelé, neboť právě děti školního věku jim svěřené patří, pokud jde o úrazy a nehody, do výrazně rizikové skupiny. Klíčová slova: první pomoc, úrazy, děti, učitelé, tělesná výchova, druhý stupeň základní školy Abstract: First aid should be an elementary skill of all citizens. The trauma patients are one of the biggest challenges in modern medicine. Injury is the leading killer of people between 1 and 44 years of age. Many of these deaths could be avoided if appropriate approach was implemented immediately. Airway management is crucial when dealing with trauma patients but it could also be one of the major problems in this group of patients. In this article, based on current literature, the authors discussed methods of airway management in trauma patients in out-of-hospital settings and presented guidelines. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

CHILD mortality , *ADOLESCENT mortality , *PREVENTION of injury , *CHILDREN'S accident prevention , *HOME accident prevention , *LAW - Abstract
Injury is the leading cause of death and disability in children and adolescents in Poland. In 2009, 1220 children age 0-19 years died as a result of injury. If the rate of injury deaths in Poland could be reduced to the level of the Netherlands, it is estimated that 703 (58%) of these lives could have been saved. The aim of this study was to assess child and adolescent unintentional injury prevention in Poland through national law and policy. The study was based on an examination of law and policies existing and implemented or enforced in Poland which support child safety, including specific injury areas such as road safety, water safety, fall prevention, poisoning prevention, burn and scalds prevention, choking and strangulation prevention. The review of law and policy documents, as well as interviews by phone or e-mail with representatives of government departments was conducted. The questionnaire developed in the frame of the European Project TACTICS (Tools to Address Childhood Trauma, Injury and Children's Safety) was applied. Each policy and law as a marker for specific injury areas was assessed on 3-points scale. The following scores were obtained for each of the areas of child and adolescent injury prevention in Poland (out of possible 100%): 89% in moped and motor scooter safety, 86% in poisoning prevention, 75% in pedestrian safety, 75% in cycling safety, 75% in water safety and drowning prevention, 64% in burn and scalds prevention, 59% in passenger and driver safety, 59% in choking and strangulation prevention, 50% in fall safety. Child home safety related to prevention of falls, burns and scalds, choking and strangulation has not received the adequate attention. The greatest gains in injury prevention have been made in road safety and poisoning prevention. It is important to both continue these efforts and give equal attention to injuries occurring in and around the home, sport and leisure environments. There is a need to support and fund good practices injury prevention measures based on community level targeting families with low socio-economic status. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

- Abstract

- Abstract
Wstęp: Urazy męskich zewnętrznych narządów płciowych są rzadko przedstawiane w piśmiennictwie. Celem pracy byto przedstawienie materiału własnego z próbą wykorzystania skali AAST w ocenie cięż-kości urazów. Materiał i metody: Od stycznia 2004 roku do czerwca 2008 roku leczono 41 pacjentów z urazami zewnętrznych narządów płciowych. Urazy tępe stanowiły 90,2%, a penetrujące 9,8%. Wszyscy pacjenci zostali poddani leczeniu operacyjnemu. Uraz jąder stwierdzono u 48,7% pacjentów, z tego w stopniu III --u 50%, IV --u 35 % i V --u 15%. Uszkodzenie moszny powstałe w wyniku tępego urazu wykazano u 19,5%, a w wyniku urazu przenikającego u 4,9%. Tępe urazy prącia stwierdzano u 17%, przenikające u 4,9%, a mieszane u 4,8% pacjentów. Wyniki: Wszyscy pacjenci 2ostali zakwalifikowani do leczenia operacyjnego. Pacjentom z uszkodzeniami moszny powstałymi w wyniku mechanizmu tępego konieczna była ewakuacja krwiaka i drenaż, natomiast u 4,9% pacjentów z uszkodzeniami penetrującymi moszny niezbędna była jej rewizja i zeszycie skóry. Czternastu pacjentom z urazami jąder zeszyto uszkodzoną osłonkę białawą, natomiast u 6 chorych konieczne było usunięcie jądra. W grupie pacjentów z urazami prącia u 2 (4,9%) doszło do całkowitej gilotynowej amputacji narządu, natomiast 7 (17%) wymagało leczenia operacyjnego w różnym zakresie. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
