The aim of this study was to investigate the effect of the interval between artificial insemination and the onset of estrus on the sex ratio of offspring and fertility in Holstein cows. Standing to be mounted behavior was considered the beginning of estrus, and artificial inseminations were performed 6 h ( Group 1), 9 h (Group 2), 12 h (Group 3), and 15 h (Group 4) after the onset of estrus in cows. Overall 119 (n: 85), 107 (n: 72), 120 (n: 80) and 119 (n: 83) artificial inseminations were performed in Groups 1, 2, 3 and 4, respectively. Pregnancy rates were 67.1%, 70.8%, 72.5% and 79.5% in Groups 1, 2, 3 and 4, respectively (P = 0.33). The highest female ratio of offspring and the pregnancy loss ratios were obtained in Group 2 but this difference was not significant (P = 0.54, P = 0.64). The highest twinning ratio was obtained in Group 4. The number of artificial inseminations per pregnancy was within the economical limits in all groups. In conclusion, the results of this study indicate that the interval between the onset of estrus and artificial insemination time does not alter the sex ratio of offspring in dairy cows with normal fertility parameters.

The aim of this study was to determine the optimum time and the conditions of mating for Angora rabbits. The study was initiated with 60 French Angora rabbits (53 does and 7 bucks). All animals were kept in individual cages under the same environmental conditions. The does were divided into 6 groups: does in group 1 were mated a week before the shearing, does in group 2 were mated during the shearing period, does in group 3 were mated a week after shearing, does in group 4 were mated a month after shearing and does in group 5 were mated 2 months after shearing. The sixth group was considered the control group and the does in this group were mated every other day. The does were shorn approximately once every 3 or 4 months and the bucks were shorn at 7-week intervals. The experiments were conducted throughout the 4 seasons of the year. Mating rates, frequency of matings, gestation rates in mated rabbits, gestation lengths, litter size, number of litter losses during the week after the parturition, the number of surviving female and male litters, live weights before and after shearing of the does, and the wool quantity and fibre length measures were recorded. Mating rates and gestation rates observed in the rabbits in groups 1- 6 were as follows in spring 77.7%-44.4%, 88.8%-66.6%, 77.7%-55.5%, 88.8%-55.5%, 66.6%-44.4% and 100%-100%; in autumn 77.7%-55.5%, 88.8%-66.6%, 88.8%-55.5%, 100% -66.6%, 88.8%-44.4% and 100%-100%; in winter 66.6%-55.5%, 100%-88.8%, 88.8%-88.8%, 88.8%-66.6%, 88.8%-66.6% and 100%-88.8%; and in summer 55.5%-33.3%, 88.8%-88.8%, 77.7%-77.7%, 44.4%-33.3%, 55.5%-44.4% and 88.8%-77.7%, respectively. The parturitions of the animals in group 6 were spread over a period of 3–4 weeks, whereas those in the other groups took place over 4 days. The findings indicated that shearing significantly affected the fertility of Angora rabbits mated in summer (P < 0.05), but did not affect the matings in other seasons. On the other hand, shearing did not influence the litter size or the gestation length measures in any of the groups.

Bu çalışmada tavşanlarda swim-up yönteminde farklı inkübasyon sürelerinin yavru cinsiyet oranları üzerine etkisi araştırıldı. Araştırmada hayvan materyali olarak; 108 adet dişi, 8 adet erkek Yeni Zelanda Beyazı tavşan kullanıldı. Sperma erkek tavşanlardan suni vagen yöntemi ile alındı. Spermalara yıkandıktan sonra, 15 (grup 1), 30 (grup 2) ve 45 (grup 3) dakika (dak) süre ile swim-up yöntemi uygulandı. Dişi tavşanlar Swim-up gruplarında inkübasyon (37.5 oC’de, % 5 CO2’li havada) sonunda spermanın üst ½’lik kısmı ile, kontrol gruplarında ise spermanın tamamı ile intrauterin yolla tohumlandı (grup 1K, 2K, 3K). Tohumlama anında dişi tavşanlara intramusküler (IM) yolla 0,0042 mg Buserelin asetat (Receptal® Intervet, Germany) enjekte edildi. Yavru cinsiyetleri doğum sonrasında kaydedildi. Gebelik oranları 1, 2 ve 3. gruplarda sırasıyla % 33,33, % 22,22 ve % 50 (p: 0,214); kontrol gruplarında (grup 1K, 2K, 3K) ise % 50, % 44,44 ve % 44.44 olarak tespit edildi (p: 0,928). Yavru cinsiyetleri % erkek oranı olarak değerlendirildiğinde; 1., 2. ve 3. gruplarda sırasıyla % 65.7, % 30 ve % 51,7 (p: 0,038); kontrol gruplarında ise %50,9, %46,7 ve % 37,50 olarak belirlendi (p: 0,480). Sonuç olarak tavşanlarda swim-up yöntemi uygulanan spermalarda, kısa süreli inkübasyon ve spermanın üst bölümünün kullanılması ile yavru cinsiyet oranlarının değiştirilebileceği kanaatine varıldı, The present study investigates the effect of different incubation periods on gender ratios of offspring in rabbits in the swim-up technique. 108 female and 8 male New Zealand White rabbits were used in the study as an animal subject. Ejaculates were collected from the male rabbits by using an artificial vagen. The washed sperms were applied using the swim-up technique for periods of 15(group1), 30 (group2), and 45 (group3) minutes. Female rabbits were inseminated by the upper ½ part of the semen in the swim-up groups (groups 1, 2 and 3), while the control groups were inseminated using the whole semen (groups 1K, 2K and 3K) at the end of incubation (at 37.5oC, under 5 % CO2 in air) . Doses were injected intramuscularly with 0.0042 mg Buserelin asetat (Receptal® Intervet, Germany) at the time of insemination. The sex ratios of offsprings were recorded after parturitions. The pregnancy rates were detected as 33.33%, 22.22 % and 50.00% (p=0.214) in groups 1, 2, and 3 respectively. As for the control groups, the pregnancy rates were 50.00%, 44.44% and 44.44% (p=0.928) for groups 1K, 2K and 3K, respectively. The male sex ratios of the newborns were 65.70%, 30.00% and 51.70% (p=0.038) in groups 1, 2 and 3 respectively. In the control groups (1K, 2K and 3) the male sex ratios were 50.90%, 46.70% and 37.50% (p=0.480), respectively. It was concluded that the sex ratio of offsprings in rabbits could be manipulated in the swim-up technique by using the upper part of the semen and applying a shorter incubation period

The aim of the present study was to evaluate the effects of Cosynch protocol on some reproductive parameters in Holstein multiparous cows (MC) (n = 54) and heifers (n = 53). Follicular development, presence of corpus luteum (CL) at different stages of Cosynch protocol, ovulation time and pregnancy rates were evaluated by ultrasonography in MCs and heifers. Pregnancy rates (PR) in MCs and heifers were found as 41% and 51% (P: 0.29, Z: -1.06). At the time of first Gonadotropinreleasing hormone (GnRH) (GnRH1), Prostaglandin F2a (PGF2a) and final GnRH (GnRH2) injections, PRs in heifers and MCs which had CL on their ovaries were detected as 47.4%-48.7% (P: 0.91, Z: 0.12), 60.5%-48.7% (P: 0. 30, Z: -1.4) and 62.1%-36.4% (P: 0.031, Z: -2.15) respectively. Ovulations occurred in 24-30 h interval after artificial insemination (AI) in MCs (50%) and heifers (35%) (P: 0.13, Z: 1.51). In conclusion, Cosynch protocol was found more effective and practical in heifers than MCs. In addition, ovulations that occurred before AI could be the reason of low conception rate for Ovsynch procedure in heifers.

Bu çalışmada, mezbahadan toplanan ovaryumlardan elde edilen sığır oositlerinin maturasyon ve fertilizasyon oranlarının follikül çapı ile ilişkilendirilerek ortaya konması amaçlanmıştır. Çalışma materyali olarak Ankara ili Çubuk ilçe mezbahasında kesilen hayvanlardan toplanan 575 ovaryum kullanıldı. Ovaryumların üzerlerindeki yüzeysel folliküller çaplarına göre (2-7 mm-Grup I ve 7-10 mm-Grup II) sayıldı. Tüm folliküllerin 18 G iğne ile punksiyonları yapılarak oositler aspire edildi. Aspire edilen kumulusoosit kompleksleri morfolojilerine göre sınıflandırıldı. Yanlızca I. ve II. kalite oositler in vitro maturasyon vasatına (TCM-199+%10 (v/v) FCS+%0.6 BSA) aktarılarak, 39°C sıcaklıkta %5 CO2 atmosferinde 22-24 saat inkübe edildi. İnkubasyon sonrası mature oositler fertilizasyon vasatına (TALP+10 µg/ml Heparin) aktarıldı. Fertilizasyon, 39°C sıcaklıkta %5 CO2 atmosferinde 18-19 saatte gerçekleştirildi. Grup I’de aspirasyondan sonra I ve II. kalite oldukları belirlenen toplam 1911 ve Grup II’de 1108 kumulus-oosit kompleksinin maturasyon kültürü sonrası Grup I’de 1327 ve Grup II’de ise 823’ünde maturasyonun şekillendiği saptandı. Grup I ve II’de elde edilen maturasyon yüzdeleri ise sırasıyla %69.44 ve %74.2 olarak belirlendi (p>0.05). Grup I’de 1327 oositten 576 (%43.4)’sında ve Grup II’de 823 oositten 419 (%51)’unda fertilizasyon şekillendi. Sonuç olarak, mezbahadan toplanan sığır ovaryumları in vitro embriyo üretiminde iyi bir kaynak olduğu, ancak toplanan ovaryumların yüzeyindeki folliküllerden aspire edilen oositlerin maturasyon ve fertilizasyon kapasiteleri oldukça değişkenlik gösterdiği ve in vitro çalışmalarda kullanılabilecek oositlerin elde edildikleri folliküllerin çapları ile oositlerin maturasyon ve fertilizasyon başarıları arasında kuvvetli bir ilişki olduğu, follikül ölçüsü arttıkça fertilizasyon oranının yükseldiği sonucuna varıldı, The aim of this study was to determine the maturation and fertilization capacities of bovine oocytes aspirated from slaugthered ovaries in relation with the follicle diameter. A number of 575 ovaries collected from the slaugthered cows at the Municipal slaugterhouse of Çubuk, Ankara were used as the material. Peripheral follicles were counted according to the their diameters (2-7 mm-Group I and 7-10 mm-Group II). Whole follicles were punctured with an 18 G needle hold on a 5 ml syringe and aspirated kumulus-oocyte complexes were classified in regard to their morphological apperance only grade I and II oocytes were then placed in maturation medium (TCM-199+%10 (v/v) FCS+10.6 BSA) and incubated under an atmosphere of %5 CO2 at 39 C° for 22-24 hr. At the end of the maturation period the maturated oocytes were transfered to the fertilization media (TALP+10 µg/ml Heparine) for in vitro fertilization. Incubation was held under an atmosphere of %5 CO2 at 39 C° for 18-19 hr. After the maturation period, 1327 of 1911 oocytes in Group I and 823 of 1108 oocytes in Group II were found as mature. The maturation rates observed in the study groups were 69.44% and 74.2% respectively (p>0.05). In Group I, 576 of 1327 (43.4%) and 419 of 823 oocytes in Group II (51%) were fertilized. As conclusion, it was evident that the ovaries collected from the slaugtherhouse are sufficient potentials for in vitro embryo production, although a great variation between the maturation and fertilization capacities of oocytes aspirated from the peripheral follicles could be observed. It was also obvious that there is a significiant relation between the follicle diameter and maturation and fertilization capacities of oocytes since the fertilization rates increases as the follicle diameter rises

Çalışmada, mezbahadan toplanan ovaryumlardan aspire edilen toplam 200 sığır oositi kullanıldı. In vitro maturasyon, %0.6 sığır serum albumini katılmış doku kültürü vasatı içerisinde, 39°C’de, %5 CO2 atmosferinde 24 saatte gerçekleştildi. In vitro fertilizasyon işlemi ise modifiye Tyrode’nin albumin laktat piruvat vasatında aynı inkubasyon koşullarında 20 saatte gerçekleştirildi. Çalışmaya alınan oositler 10’arlı gruplar halinde işaretli petrilerde inkübe edilerek, her oosit, maturasyon sonrası kumulus ekspansiyon derecesi (yok-0, hafif-1, ileri-2), kutup hücresinin görülmesi (yok-0, var-1) ve fertilizasyonun ortaya konması (dişierkek pronukleuslar yok-0, var-1) açısından değerlendirildi. Çalışma sonucunda, in vitro maturasyon ve fertilizasyon işlemine alınan toplam 200 oositten 91’inde (%45.5) fertilizasyon saptanmıştır. Spina bifida (SB), bebek hala rahimdeyken ortaya çıkan, sık görülen bir omurga kusurudur. Defekt, embriyonik sinirsel kolonun tamamlanmamış şekilde kapatılmasıyla oluşmaktadır. Bu tez bahsi geçen rahatsızlığın teşhisi için destekleyici olabilecek doğadan esinlenilmiş yaklaşımlar içermektedir. Buna göre sürü dinamiğine dayalı bir optimizasyon yöntemi ve kemiklerin diskriminasyonu için genetik algoritma temellerine dayalı bir yaklaşım önerilmiştir. Önerilen optimizasyon yaklaşımında kuş sürüleri olarak kabul edilen kemik bölgelerinin ait oldukları sınıfa göre kümelenebilmeleri için göç yolları hesaplanmaktadır. Optimizasyon sürecini takip eden tanılama basamağında görüntü dikey bloklara bölünerek kemik adacıklarının buna göre kodlanması sağlanmıştır. Kodlanan adacıklar önerilen uygunluk denklemi sayesinde genetik operatörler uygulanarak sınıflandırılabilmiş, ciddi morfolojik bozukluk söz konusu olsa bile omurga kemiklerinin ayırt edilmesi sağlanmıştır. Spina bifida (SP) is a spine defect observed when a baby is still in the womb. The defect is caused by unfinished closure of the embryonic neural column. This thesis proposes a combination of novel nature inspired methods for locating spinal axis on sonograms, where deformation due to spina bifida is observed. The method involves a flocking dynamics based optimization approach for reducing the size of the search space (bones on the sonogram) and a meta-heuristic evolutionary approach, where the sonogram is divided into columns and bone blobs belonging to the spine are classified. Accordingly, a specific genetic structure and fitness function is utilized and conventional genetic operators are applied to search the actual solution. Results show that both approaches are promising and proposed combination of algorithms generally can distinguish the spinal bones from others even if severe morphological defects exist on the sonograms.

Elektrokardiyografi (EKG), insan vücudu üstünde ölçülen elektrik potansiyellerinden kalp sağlığı hakkında çıkarımda bulunulan yaygın bir tanı yöntemidir. Literatürde EKG’nin ileri ve ters problemlerini hesaplamalı yöntemlerle çözen pek çok yarı-statik çalışma mevcuttur. Bu çalışmalarda iskemik dokudaki abnormal membran potansiyeli dikkate alınırken, dokunun bu patolojiyle azalan iletkenliği büyük ölçüde gözardı edilmiştir. Bu çalışmanın ilk kısmında iletkenliğin ileri problemde ölçülen torso potansiyelleri üstündeki ve bu şekilde oluşan torso potansiyellerinin ters problemin çözümü üstündeki etkisini incelenmiştir. Bu hedef doğrultusunda, iki-bölgeli kalp problemini iki-boyutlu gerçekçi torso geometrileri üzerinde çözen bir sonlu elemanlar programı ve bu programı kullanan bir optimizasyon kodu yazılmıştır. Sonuçlarımız iskemik iletkenliğin torso potansiyelleri üstünde gözle görülür bir etkisi olduğunu, iskemik bölgeyi bulma amacıyla ters problem çözülürken ise minimal bir etkisinin olduğunu göstermiştir. Tezin ikinci kısmında, ters problemi çözmek üzere özgün iteratif bir yöntem geliştirilmiştir. Yöntem, iskemik bölgenin konumunun parametrizasyonuna dayanmakta, parametreler hassasiyet analizi ve sonlu elemanlarla optimizasyonu ile belirlenmektedir. Yöntemin iskemik bölgeyi başarıya bulduğu gözlemlenmiştir. Electrocardiography (ECG) is a common diagnostic tool based on reading potentials on human torso and make deductions about the heart health. Many quasistatic numerical studies exist in the literature that tackle forward and inverse problem of ECG. While the abnormal transmembrane potential of the ischemic tissue is taken into account in these studies, the decreased conductivity due to this pathology has been largely ignored. In the first part of this study, we have investigated numerically the effect of ischemic conductivities on the torso potentials, and the effect of these torso otentials on the solution of the inverse problem. To achieve this objective, a finite element code has been written to solve the bidomain problem on realistic twodimesinal torso geometries, and a related optimization code is written that uses the finite element code. Our results show that the ischemic conductivity has a noticable effect on the torso potentials but makes a small difference when locating the ischemic region in the inverse problem. In the second part of this thesis work, a novel iterative scheme for the solution of the inverse problem has been developed. The method is based on the parameterization of the location of the ischemic regions, where the parameters are determined using sensitivity analysis and finite element optimization. It has been observed that the method succesfully locates the ischemic region.

Bu bakımdan, yumuşak dokuların mekanik özelliklerini tanımlamak için etkili ve güvenilir araçlara ihtiyaç vardır. Bu tez çalışmasının amacı, kıkırdağın homojen ve homojen olmayan (özellikle derinliğe bağlı) malzeme özelliklerini deneysel veriler kullanarak belirlemek için bir sonlu elemanlar optimizasyon yöntemi (prosedürü) geliştirmektir. Kıkırdak iki fazlı bir süreklilik olarak modellenmiştir ve katı fazı lineer elastik veya hiperelastik olarak alınmıştır. Optimizasyon yöntemi, sonlu elemanlar yöntemi sonuçlarının malzeme özelliklerindeki değişime göre hassasiyetinin analitik veya sayısal olarak hesaplandığı bir hassasiyet analizine dayanır. Optimizasyon yöntemi, kıkırdağın bilinen iki deneysel konfigürasyonunda test edilmiştir. Lineer elastik doku için, malzeme özelliklerinin doğrusal veya kuadratik bir varyasyonu doku derinliği boyunca kabul edilirken, hiperelastik doku özellikleri homojen alınmıştır. Optimizasyon yönteminin hem lineer hem de lineerolmayan analizlerde malzeme özelliklerini tahmin etmede etkili olduğu bulunmuştur. A knowledge of material properties of cartilage tissue is essential to assess its mechanical function, pathology as well as the mechanics of substitute materials used to replace it. Hence, efficient and reliable tools are needed to accurately characterize the mechanical properties of soft tissue. The objective of this thesis research is to develop a finite element optimization procedure to determine the homogeneous and inhomogeneous (in particular, depth-dependent) material properties of cartilage using experimental data. Cartilage is modeled as a biphasic continuum and its solid phase is taken either linear elastic or hyperelastic. The optimization method is based on a sensitivity analysis where the sensitivity of the FE results to a variation in the material properties is either analytically or numerically evaluated. The material properties are updated based on the sensitivities of the material properties and the difference between the actual experimental data and computational experimental data. The optimization method has been tested in two common experimental configurations of cartilage. For linear elastic tissue, either a linear or a quadratic variation of the material properties have been assumed through the tissue depth, while the hyperelastic tissue properties have been taken homogeneous. The optimization method has been found to be efficient to estimate the material properties both in linear and nonlinear analysis.

Harici fiksatörler ortopedi alanında kırık tespiti, boy uzatma ve deformite düzeltme amaçları için yaygın olarak kullanılmaktadır. Bu fiksatörlerde tipik olarak klinisyen, fiksatör halkalarını birbirine bağlayan çubukların boylarını değiştirerek kemik parçalarını anatomik olarak istenen pozisyona getirir. Bu işlem klinisyen tarafından, onun tecrübe ve uzmanlığına dayanılarak gerçekleştirilir. Alternatif olarak, fiksatörün matematiksel hesaplarını yapan bir yazılım yardımıyla aynı işlemlerin otomatize edildiği ticari sistemler bulunmaktadır. Klinisyenin tedavinin sonucunu önceden görmesine olanak sağlayacak uygun görselleştirme araçları günümüzde kullanılan yazılım sistemlerinde mevcut değildir. Bu tezde kanonik model ismindeki sağlıklı kemik modelini hastaya özel patolojik (örneğin deforme) kemik modeline dönüştüren yöntemler geliştirdik. Hastaya özel kemik modellerini otomatik olarak oluşturan, görselleştirme ve simülasyon araçlarına sahip bir kullanıcı arayüzü programlanmıştır. Kemik modelleme algoritması 19 farklı kemik modeli üzerinde değerlendirilmiştir ve algoritmanın efektif olduğu sonucuna varılmıştır. Buna ek olarak, görselleştirme aracı dört ortopedik uygulamanın simülasyonu şeklinde test edilmiştir. Örneklerin tamamında görselleştirme aracı kemik-fiksatör sistemini ve tedavi sürecini gerçekçi olarak göstermiştir. Klinisyenin uygulanan tedaviyi görselleştirmesi ve farklı tedavi senaryolarını önceden değerlendirmesine olanak saplayan görselleştirme aracı işle donatılmış bir arayüzün klinik olarak faydalı bir araç olacağına inanmaktayız. External ring fixators are widely used in orthopaedics for the purposes of fracture fixation, bone lengthening and deformity correction. In these fixators, the clinician typically brings the bone fragments to an anatomically desired position by changing the lengths of the rods connecting the fixator rings. This task is accomplished by the clinician based on experience and expertise. As an alternative, commercial systems exist where the same task is automatized with the help of an accompanying software that implements a mathematical model of the fixator. Proper visualization tools, that will allow the clinician to foresee the outcome of the treatment, are not present in the currently available software systems. In this thesis, we have developed methods to convert the model of a healthy bone, called the canonical model, to the patient-specific pathological (such as deformed) bone model. A graphical user interface (GUI) has been programmed with an advanced visualization and simulation tool that can automatically create the patient-specific bone model based on this approach. The bone modeling algorithm has been evaluated on a total of 19 different tibia and femur models and found to be effective. Furthermore, the visualization tool has been tested in the simulation of four orthopaedic procedures. In all examples, the visualization tool has provided a realistic depiction of the bone-fixator system and the treatment procedure. We believe that the developed GUI equipped with the visualization module could be a useful clinical tool where the clinician can visualize the applied treatment or evaluate different treatment scenarios a priori per patient.

Ortopedi alanında, kol ve bacak kırıklarının tedavisinde harici fiksatörler yaygın olarak kullanılmaktadır. Fakat bu sistemlerin kullanımı genellikle tecrübeli doktor veya teknisyenler tarafından manuel olarak yapılmaktadır. Bilgisayar destekli sistemler, radyolojik görüntülerin işlenerek tedavi planlamasının yapıldığı yazılımlarla kullanılabilmektedir. Bu tarz sistemler, giriş olarak radyolojik ve klinik verileri alarak, kemik parçalarını anatomik eksenlerine hizalayacak harici fiksatör kurgusunu hesaplamaktadır. Mevcut sistemler kullanım konusunda değişik limit ve kısıtlamalara sahiptir. Bu çalışmada, insan müdahalesini ve buna bağlı hataları azaltacak, mevcut sistemlerdeki bazı kısıtlamaları giderek harici fiksatörün kullanımını kolaylaştıracak ve sunulan hizmetin kalitesini arttıracak, otomasyon düzeyi arttırılmış yeni sistem ve ilgili grafik arayüzü geliştirilmiş. Özellikle, fiksatörün metalik yapısından kaynaklanan kemiklerdeki görüntü kaybını giderecek ve fiksatör halkalarının otomatik olarak tespit edilmesinin sağlayacak yöntemler önerilmiştir. Buna ek olarak, değişik konfigürasyonlarda kurgulanabilen yeni bir harici fiksatör ve bu fiksatörün matematik modeli sunulmuştur. Bu yeni fiksatörün kullanım potansiyeli ve avantajları detaylarıyla verilmiştir. In the field of orthopedics, external fixators are widely used for treatment of extremity deformities. However, the adjustment of such a system is usually done by hand based on the experience of the clinician. Computer-assisted systems exist where treatment is planned with a software after processing radiological images. Such system takes some radiological and clinical data as input and calculates the configuration of the external fixator that will align the bone fragments to their anatomical axes. Yet, existing computer-assisted systems have various limitations and constraints. In this study, a new automatized system and an associated graphical user interface have been developed, that will minimize the human intervention and the related error, simplify the utilization of the external fixators and improve the quality of the service. In particular, methods have been proposed to complete the bone images blocked by the parts of the fixators and to automatically locate the fixator rings on the image. Furthermore, a new fixator that can be configured to different settings and its mathematical theory have also been presented in this work. The potential use and advantages of this new design are described in detail. 144

SFAP’ler, süperpoze olarak, klinik çalışmalarda sıkcana ölçülen bir büyüklük olan bileşke aksiyon potansiyelini (CAP) oluştururlar. CAP’in profili ve iletim hızı, bu CAP’i oluşturan SFAP’lerin iletim hızıyla yakından ilgilidir. Yaralanmalar veya ilaç kullanımı sonrasında, CAP profilinde değişiklik olabilir. Bu patolojilerin hangi fiberlere hasar verdiğini ve SFAP’yi nasıl değiştirdiğini anlamak, teşhis ve tedavi açısından önemlidir. Sinirlerdeki fiberlerlerin sayısı bazen binlerle ifade edilir. Bu bakımdan, fiberlerin yarı çaplarının ve SFAP’lerin hızlarının, analitik bir fonksiyon yardımıyla ifade edilebilen sürekli bir dağılıma sahip olduğu varsayılabilir. Eldeki bir CAP için, bu CAP’i verecek çap dağılımını bulmak için (varsayılan fonksiyonun türüne bağlı olarak lineer veya nonlineer olabilen) bir gradyan optimizasyonu yöntemi uyguladık. Major nerves are made of large numbers of nerve fibers. When a signal is initiated in the nerve, it is transmitted along each fiber via an action potential (called single fiber action potential (SFAP)) which travels with a velocity that is related with the diameter of the fiber and whether the fiber is covered with a myelin sheath or not. The additive superposition of SFAP’s constitutes the compound action potential (CAP) of the nerve, a quantity that is often measured in clinical neurophysiology. The shape of the CAP and its traveling pattern is closely related with velocity distribution of the SFAP’s forming the CAP. After injuries or usage of certain drugs, the CAP profile of the nerve might change. It is important to understand which fibers are damaged/deactivated by these pathologies for diagnostic and therapeutic purposes. The number of fibers in a nerve can be measured sometimes in thousands. Hence, it is possible to assume a continuous distribution for the fiber diameters and the velocities of SFAP can be represented by an analytical function. For a given CAP, we have applied a (depending on the function type, linear or nonlinear) gradient optimization technique to determine the diameter distribution that will result to this CAP. We have assumed different types of functions, in particular polynomials and Gaussian distributions, whose parameters are found through optimization to give the best fit to the actual diameter distribution function. We have observed that an 8th order polynomial can capture almost all fiber distributions present in vivo.

Bir GSM ağı kurulurken, ilgili yöreye ait coğrafi ve insani bilgiler kullanılarak planlama yapılabilir. Bir ağın çalışma etkinliği ise ancak ağ kurulduktan sonra, kullanım bilgileri değerlendirilmek suretiyle deneysel olarak analiz edilebilir. Bölgenin yerleşim yapısındaki değişiklikler, kullanıcı sayısı ve hareketindeki günlük ve daha uzun vadeli oynamalar ağ trafiğini ve buna paralel olarak servis kalitesini etkiler. Teknik olarak, servis kalitesi, sinyal gücü, girişim oranı gibi parametrelere bağlıdır. Hareket eden bir kullanıcının bağlantısının bir hücreden diğer bir hücreye aktarılması olan ""handover"" olgusu, özellikle servis kalitesinin üst düzeyde tutulması açısından önemlidir. Ağlar belli bir kapasite çerçevesinde ve belli kısıtlar altında işlerler. Bu bakımdan ağların maksimum servis kalitesini sağlayacak şekilde optimal kullanılması önemlidir. Sonuç olarak handover'in doğru kriterlere göre gerçekleşmesi de ağın etkinliği açısından önemlidir. While founding a GSM network, planning stage involves the usage of geographical and demographical information about the considered locality. The operational effectiveness of a network can be analyzed a posteriori by evaluating the operational data after the network has been up and running. The changes in human settlement in the locality, short term and long term fluctuations in the number of users and user mobility are factors that effect the network traffic and, in turn, the service quality. Technically, the service quality is related with factors such as signal strength and interference ratio. The concept of ""handover"", the transferring of an ongoing call from one channel to another in the network, is particularly important with respect to service quality. Networks have certain capacities and operate under certain constraints. That is why it is important that the network should operate optimally providing the maximum possible service quality. Consequently, for the effectiveness of the network, it is important that the handover should occur according to the right criteria. A realistic model of a GSM network will allow us to see how quality parameters vary with respect to various system variables and can help us to do a priori planning about the system.

Sunulan çalısmada, düve ve ineklerde ovulasyon senkronizasyonunda kullanılan klasik ve modifiyeco-synch (ovsynch+co-synch) tekniklerinde elde edilen gebelik basarıları arastırılmıs vekarsılastırılmıstır.Çalısmada, Holstein ırkı 36 tanesi inek (Grup I) ve 40 tanesi düve (Grup II) toplam 76 hayvankullanılmıstır. lk denemelerde gebe kalmayan 4 inekten çalısmada iki kez faydalanılmıstır. Her birgrup 20'ser hayvanlı iki alt gruba ayrılmıs olup Grup IA ve IIA alt gruplarında tek tohumlamalıorijinal co-synch programı (0.gün GnRH, 7.gün PGF2, 9. gün GnRH ve tohumlama) Grup IB veIIB alt gruplarında ise çift tohumlamalı modifiye co-synch (ovsynch+co-synch) programı uygulandı(0.gün GnRH, 7.gün PGF2, 9. gün GnRH ve tohumlama, 10.gün ikinci tohumlama). Kullanılanprostaglandin analogu D-Prestolyn (Eczacıbası), prostaglandin F2'nın sentetik bir analogu vekloprostenol (0,075 mg/ml) molekülünün biyolojik aktif bileseni olan luteolitik etkili D formudurve bu tip bir arastırmada ilk kez denenmistir.Çalısma gruplarında (Grup IA, IB, IIA ve IIB) elde edilen gebelik oranları sırasıyla %45(9/20),%55(11/20), %45(9/20) ve %65(13/20) olarak tespit edilmistir. Gebelik basarılarının istatistikîyönden degerlendirmesinde gruplar içinde (Grup IA-%45/Grup IB-%55/p>0.01 ve Grup IIA-%45/Grup IIB-%65/p>0.01) sayısal bir artıs gözlense de, bu sayısal artısın istatistikî bir önemtasımadıgı belirlenmistir. Benzer sekilde inek ve düvelerde elde edilen gebelik oranlarıkarsılastırıldıgında istatistikî bir fark izlenmemistir (p>0.01).Sonuç olarak, inek ve düvelerde ovulasyon senkronizasyonu amacıyla modifiye co-synch teknigininbasarıyla kullanılabilecegi kanısına varıldı.Anahtar kelimeler: Co-synch, inek, düve, ovsynch, gebelik. The aim of the present study was to investigate and compare the pregnancy success? obtained withclassical and modified co-synch (ovsynch+co-synch) in cows and heifers.A total of 76 (36 cows and 40 heifers) Holstein bred animals were used in the study. The originalco-synch protocol (day0 GnRH + day7 PGF2 + day9 GnRH + AI) was used ign Group IA and IIAwhere as the modified protocol (day0 GnRH + day7 PGF2 + day9 GnRH + AI+ 24 h AI after) wasused in Group IB and IIB. The chosen prostaglandin analog was a synthetic D- form of the luteoliticcloprostenole- a prostaglandin F2 analog, and used for the first time in such a study.The gestation rates obtained in study groups (Group IA, IB, IIA and IIB) were 45% (9/20), 55%(11/20), 45% (9/20) and 65% (13/20) respectively. Although there were a numerical rise, anysignificant statistical difference was observed in the groups (Group IA vs. Group IB, and Group IIAvs. Group IIB, p>0.01) or between the groups (Group IA vs. Group IIA, and Group IB vs. GroupIIB, p>0.01). Similarly, the pregnancy rates in cows did not differ significantly when comparedwith heifers (p>0.01).As a result, it was evident that the modified co-synch could be used for ovulation synchronization inthe cows and heifers.Keywords: Co-synch, cow, heifer, ovsynch, pregnancy. 57
