The aim of this study is to examine the predictor relationships between the satisfaction sport science students obtain from communication with lecturers and their organizational identification. Moreover, the study aims to determine whether there is a difference in both dependent variables in terms of gender, grade, whether they like their educational department, desire to change their department, establishment of out-of-class communication with lecturers, and being in active communication with lecturers in class. In this study, quantitative correlational techniques are used. Our sample comprised 252 (x¯ age = 21.39 ± 2.16) sport science students (127 female; 125 male). The “Student Communication Satisfaction Scale” developed by Goodboy, Martin, and Bolkan (2009) and adapted to Turkish by Akın, Yalnız, and Kazaz (2015) was used as a data collection tool, as was the “Organizational Identification Scale” developed by Mael and Ashforth (1992) and adapted to Turkish by Tak and Aydemir (2004). Parametric data was analyzed using Pearson correlation analysis, simple linear regression analysis, 2 × 2 MANOVA, and two-way ANOVA. Nonparametric data was analyzed using the Kruskal-Wallis H statistical test technique. The results indicate a strong and positively oriented relationship between the communication satisfaction and organizational identification of sport science students. Moreover, it is seen that communication satisfaction is a crucial predictor of organizational identification. According to our data, females’ communication satisfaction and identification levels are much higher than those of males. Students’ like or dislike of the department where they receive an education and the quality and form of communication they have established with lecturers result in significant differences in both dependent variables.

The aim of this study is to investigate the effect of inquiry-based instruction in the teaching of fundamental movement skills to fifth-grade students on the children's perceived motor competence. Utilizing a post-test experimental design with control group, the study was carried out with 260 fifth-grade students studying in ten different classes at five different schools located in the city centre of Manisa during the 2019-2020 academic year. For collection of the data, the "Perceived Motor Competence Questionnaire in Childhood" (PMC-C), and a "Personal Information Form" (PIF) developed by the researchers, were used. To test the effectiveness of the quasi-experimental process in the post-test design with control group, t-test was used. In the inquiry-based instruction in the teaching of fundamental movement skills of the students, a statistically significant difference was found in favour of the experimental group in the subscales of perceived motor competence. Regarding the gender variable of the students, a statistically significant difference was found between female and male students in favour of boys in the subscales of fundamental motor skills. In conclusion, it can be said that the inquiry-based instructional model was more effective than the direct instructional model in developing the fundamental motor skills of "locomotor skills" and "object control skills". Moreover, when evaluated in terms of gender, male students benefited more from the inquiry-based instructional model in terms of "object control skills".

This study aims to analyze the attitudes of primary school teachers towards leisure. It also aims to determine whether the attitudes of primary school teachers vary according to their gender and leisure activities they attend. A total of 355 primary school teachers ( X[subscript age]= 45.08±7.91), including 188 females and 167 males, volunteered to participate in this study. "Leisure Attitude Scale" developed by Beard and Ragheb (1982) and adapted into Turkish by Akgül and Gürbüz (2010) and "General Information Form" were utilized to collect data. The findings of this study indicates that the leisure attitudes levels of teachers were quite high ( X[subscript mean]= 4.28±0.33). Also according to gender of the participants, a significant difference was found in favor of the female teachers in regards to the attitude of leisure in the cognitive sub-dimension and in total points but not in the affective and behavioral sub-dimensions. In terms of the most preferred leisure activity, there was a significant difference in the behavioral sub-dimension of the leisure attitude scale of teachers, whereas there was no statistically significant difference in the cognitive, affective sub-dimensions and total scores. Accordingly, teachers who preferred physical activities in leisure had higher points than the ones who preferred other activities with regards to the behavioral sub-dimensional. In addition, no significant relationship was found between the ages of the teachers, the years of professional service, the leisure attitude scale sub-dimensions and total score.

In this study, it is aimed to identify the relationship between the communication in academic environment and quality of work life of the academic staff who work in the field of sports sciences. Moreover, the administrational functions of each variable are studied considering the academic titles. The research is a quantitative-correlational study. The sample of the study is formed by 51 women and 114 men out of 165 academic staff who work in the field of sports sciences at various universities in Turkey. In the study, as data collection tools, "Quality of Work Life Scale" and "Communication Analysis Inventory in Academic Environment" are used. Data are assessed using Pearson correlation analysis, multiple linear regression analysis and t-test. It is noted with the findings that communication in academic environment (CAE) and quality of work life (QWL) have moderate and negative relations and sub-dimensions of both variables have weak, low and moderate negative relations. Also, it is indicated that CAE is a significant predictor of QWL. It's stated that while academic staff who have administrative position perceives the CAE and its sub-dimensions positively (except for the insufficient share of scientific knowledge and sub-dimensions of faculty atmosphere), QWL gets higher scores only in sub-dimensions about relations with colleagues,work satisfaction and taking responsibility in the office. According to academic title (except for sub-dimension of individuality), there has been found no significant difference in QWL and its sub-dimensions.

The aim of this study was to examine university students' freedom to engage in leisure activities, and to compare these according to the factors of elective courses taken and course hours, leisure activities frequently participated in, lengths of participation and gender. A total of 410 students, 212 of whom were taking common compulsory courses in their own education programmes, and 198 of whom were taking non-technical elective courses, took part in the study. Quantitative research techniques were used in the study, which was structured on the descriptive model. The Perceived Freedom in Leisure Scale developed by Witt and Ellis (1985) and adapted into Turkish by Yerlisu Lapa and Agyar (2011), and the Personal Information Form developed by the researchers, were used as data collection tools in the study. The data were evaluated by using the t-test, one-way ANOVA and Mann-Whitney U statistical test methods. According to the research findings, it was determined that students who chose sports courses from among the elective courses and who spent more time participating in their selected courses and in leisure activities had higher perceived freedom in leisure. Whereas no significant difference was observed with regard to the type of leisure activity that the students engaged in, male students' perceptions of freedom were found to be higher than those of female students.

The aim of this study was to compare ninth-grade students' states of self-esteem and decision-making with regard to their levels of physical activity. A total of 374 students, of whom 205 were female and 169 were male (x([subscript age])=15.22±0.414), selected by convenience sampling from four different high schools determined by purposive sampling, participated voluntarily in the study. The research was designed in the general survey model as a causal-comparative study. In the study, the "Personal Decisiveness Scale" (PDS), "Self-Esteem Scale" (SES), "International Physical Activity Questionnaire" (IPAQ, short form) and Personal Information Form were used as data collection tools. In the data analysis, one-way ANOVA (Tukey), Kruskal-Wallis H test, 2x3 MANOVA and Pearson correlation analysis were used. Type 1 error was set to 5% (a=0.05). Exploratory indecisiveness and impetuous indecisiveness scores were found to be highly positively correlated, while both indecisiveness scores were found to be moderately positively correlated with self-respect. Regarding physical activity levels, levels of self-esteem among the Science High School students were found to be significantly higher in the HEPA (health-enhancing physical activity) group than in the inactive and minimally active groups. It was determined that students at the Social Sciences High School had lower self-esteem scores and higher impetuous indecisiveness scores than students from all the other high schools, and that they had higher exploratory indecisiveness scores than students from the Science High School. Students who engaged in regular physical activity had higher levels of self-esteem than those who did not, while females had higher levels of exploratory indecisiveness than males. Exploratory indecisiveness scores were found to be significantly lower among those who engaged in team sports compared to those who did individual sports. In conclusion, regarding the negative relationship between indecisiveness and self-esteem, it can be said that high levels of physical activity increase the self-esteem of students at higher academic levels, that students in Social Sciences High Schools need to be supported with more physical activity, and that females and those doing individual sports have higher levels of exploratory indecisiveness.

The aim of this study is to determine the leisure satisfaction levels of students who study sports sciences. In addition, in the study, the satisfaction levels of the students were compared according to their gender, departments and the most preferred activity type in leisure. The research was in quantitative descriptive design and consisted of a total of 379 sports sciences students, including 144 female and 235 men. The "Leisure Satisfaction Scale" developed by Beard and Raghep (1992) which is adapted to Turkish by Gökçe and Orhan (2011) and the "Personal Information Form" developed by the researcher were used as data collection tools. T-test, ANOVA and one-way MANOVA test techniques were used in the analysis of the data. According to the research findings, the leisure satisfaction of the students of Sports Sciences has been observed to be high level. In general, it was found that leisure satisfaction of those who do most physical activity is higher than those who did social, intellectual and artistic etc. activity. According to the gender factor, leisure satisfaction total score did not make a difference, but it was seen that female had higher scores than psychological and relaxation dimensions. In the comparisons between the departments, it was determined that the recreation department had more leisure satisfaction than the coaching and physical education teaching department students. It has been observed that the highest score section is recreation and the lowest score section is coaching. Finally, the research findings were discussed.

The aim of this study is to examine the effect of sports-related games carried out within the scope of extra-curricular activities on the behaviour patterns of high school students. The study was conducted as a pretest-posttest experimental design with control group. The study group of the research consisted of a total of 34 ninth-grade male and female high school students, with 15 students in the experimental group and 19 in the control group. The activities were conducted as extra-curricular activities. The experimental group took part in sports-related games activities over a 10-week period, on 2 days per week and for 2 lesson periods (80 minutes) per day. In the study, with the aim of determining the students' behaviour patterns, a "Youth Self Report (11-18 age) was used as a pretest and posttest measurement tool. For evaluation of the data, ANCOVA analysis was used by controlling the pretest scores. The research findings revealed that in the high school students' internalizing score and total problematic behaviour scores, the values of the experimental group were statistically significantly different (p<.05) and lower than those of the control group. As a result of the study, it can be said that sports-based games are effective activities used for reducing high school students' behaviour problems. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

In Recent studies underline the fact that adolescents are, at many times, likely to experience serious communication problems with their families and close environments. So, the aim of this study is to determine positive impact of sport-related games, which are performed as extracurricular activities, on high school students’ communication skills. In the study, pre, & post-tests was utilized with the control group’s experimental patterns. Two participant groups were made up of totally 30 high school students, 15 of whom would be in the experimental group and the rest of whom were in the control group. The former group was given sport- related 20 applications for 10 weeks during which the latter group would not deal with any extracurricular activities. Meanwhile, before and after the applications, data was collected by means of “The Communication Skills Scale” which was developed by Korkut (1996) and then analysed through “two-way ANCOVA” test techniques. Results clarify that the considerable gap in scores of the students’ pre, & post-tests perception concerning their communication skills are clearly attributed to sport-related games and it was also established that scores of the students in the experimental group were meaningfully higher than ones in the control group. However, perception of communication skills in the both groups was not significantly different by sex of the students. Moreover, the common effect of sex and participation on sport- related games was not found statistically meaningful in terms of communication skills. Consequently, it could be said that sport-related games impact positively communication skills.
