Objective: This study aimed to present a new modification of the modified Kessler tendon repair technique and share results of an animal study scrutinizing mainly the biomechanical properties and comparing it to other techniques. Methods: Eighteen New Zealand rabbits were used and divided into 3 groups: 1 experiment and 2 control groups. Four-strand modified Kessler and 6-strand Tang repairs were used for the control groups. The new modification was used in the experiment group. Two surgeries were conducted 8 weeks apart, repairing 1 Achilles tendon in the first, repairing the contralateral tendon and harvesting specimens in the second. The repair times were recorded. In addition, biomechanical tests were conducted to determine mechanical strength. Results: There was a statistically significant difference between the 3 groups in load-to-failure values for the strength after repair model, with the experiment group superior to the other 2 (P = .002; P < .05). Although there was a noticeable difference between the mean loadto- failure values of each group in the healing model, we could not demonstrate a statistically significant difference(P > .05). The new modification took significantly less time than the other 2 techniques (P = .001). Conclusion: Our new modification was biomechanically stronger and faster than the other 2 techniques. The technique offers a new, suitable, practical option for human flexor tendon repair.

Endüstriyel uygulamalarda, karıştırma işlemi ile homojen yapıya sahip ve aynı kalitede ürünlerin elde edilmesi amaçlanır. Karışımın homojenliği, karıştırıcının çeşidi ve karıştırma parametrelerine bağlı olarak farklılık gösterir. Bu çalışmada, polimer kompozit üretiminde kullanılabilecek, iki eksenli küp toz karıştırıcı imal ve test edilmiştir. Karıştırma işleminde, toz PLA (Polilaktik asit) ve ağırlıkça %5, %10 ve %15 oranlarında karbon elyaf tozu kullanılmıştır. Hazırlanan karışımlar kullanılarak, enjeksiyon kalıplama ile çekme test numuneleri üretilmiştir. Numunelerin yük altıdaki davranışları ve taramalı elektron mikroskobu (SEM) görüntüleri yorumlanarak karışımların homojenliği belirlenmiştir. Ayrıca, karıştırmada etkinliği bilinen Turbula da karıştırma işlemleri, çekme testleri ve SEM analizleri tekrar edilmiştir. Küp karıştırıcı ve Turbula için elde edilen çekme test sonuçları ve SEM görüntüleri karşılaştırılmış ve küp karıştırıcının etkinliği belirlenmiştir. SEM görüntüleri karşılaştırıldığında, özellikle %10 ve %15 karbon elyaf tozu oranlarında, küp karıştırıcı ile hazırlanan numunelerde fiber dağılımının, Turbula ile hazırlanan numunelere oranla daha üniform olduğu görülmüştür. Ayrıca, numunelerin yük-yer değiştirme davranışları incelendiğinde, mekanik özellikler açısından kararlı numune üretiminde, küp karıştırıcının Turbulaya göre daha başarılı olduğu sonucuna varılmıştır., In industrial applications, the aim is to obtain products with a homogeneous structure and the same quality with the mixing process. Mixing homogeneity differs depending on the type of mixer and mixing parameters. In this study, a two-axis cube powder mixer that can be used in polymer composite production was manufactured and tested. In the mixing process, powder PLA (polylactic acid) and carbon fiber powder by 5%, 10% and 15% weight ratios were used. Tensile test specimens were produced through injection molding using the prepared mixtures. The homogeneity of the mixtures was determined by interpreting the behavior of the samples under load and Scanning Electron Microscope (SEM) images. In addition, mixing processes, tensile tests, and SEM analyses were repeated for Turbula, whose efficiency in mixing is known. The efficiency of the cube mixer was determined by comparing the tensile test results and SEM images obtained for both devices. When the SEM images were compared, it was seen that the fiber distribution in samples prepared with a cube mixer, especially at 10% and 15% carbon fiber powder ratios, was more uniform than the samples prepared with Turbula. In addition, when the load-displacement behaviors of the samples were examined, it was concluded that the cube mixer was more successful than Turbula in the production of stable samples in terms of mechanical properties.

Discussion is both a democratic civic skill and a teaching method. It has been observed that social studies stakeholders are generally kept their distance toward discussion. It has been observed that there are few studies carried out on the discussion attitudes of teacher candidates (TCs) in the context of social studies. It is observed that TCs have both positive and negative attitudes toward discussion. On the other hand, the number of studies examining secondary school students' attitudes toward the discussion is limited. The current study aims to examine the attitudes of three participant groups (student, teacher, and TCs) toward the discussion. The survey model, which is one of the quantitative research methods, was used. The sample of the study consisted of 269 students, 617 TCs, and 167 teachers, a total of 1053 participants, determined by the convenience sampling method. In order to collect data, the argumentative attitude scale developed by Infante and Rancer (1982) as 20 items and adapted into Turkish as ten items by Turunç, Eser, and Dinç (2018), and a personal information form developed by the researchers was used. Frequency and percentage distributions regarding the demographic characteristics of students, TCs, and teachers, as well as the argumentative attitudes of the participants, were determined according to the independent variables. According to the findings, teachers' discussion attitudes did not differ significantly by experience and gender. A significant difference was found between the grade levels of TCs and secondary school students. Also, it was observed that male TCs had a higher avoidance attitude. The research showed that although teachers, students, and TCs had positive attitudes, they also had various concerns about the discussion. In light of the results, the participation of teachers, students, and TCs in carefully prepared and conducted discussions and the examination of conflicting emotions with longitudinal studies was suggested. Tartışma hem demokratik vatandaşlık becerisi ve bir öğretim yöntemidir. Sosyal bilgiler paydaşlarının tartışmaya genellikle mesafeli oldukları gözlenmiştir. İlgili araştırmalar incelendiğinde öğretmen adaylarının sosyal bilgiler bağlamında tartışma tutumlarını inceleyen çalışmalar olduğu gözlenmiştir. Öğretmen adaylarının tartışmaya yönelik olumlu ve olumsuz tutumlara sahip olduğu gözlenmektedir. Öte yandan ortaokul düzeyinde öğrencilerin tartışmaya yönelik tutumlarını inceleyen çalışma sayısı sınırlıdır. Bu araştırma, üç katılımcı grubunun (öğrenci, öğretmen ve öğretmen adayı) tartışmaya yönelik tutumlarını incelemeyi hedeflemektedir. Araştırmada ortaöğretim düzeyindeki öğrencilerin, öğretmenlerin ve öğretmen adaylarının tartışmaya yönelik tutumlarının çeşitli değişkenler açısından incelenmesi ve gruplar arasındaki farklılığın ortaya konulması amaçlandığından nicel araştırma yöntemlerinden tarama modeli kullanılmıştır. Araştırmanın örneklemini ise kolay ulaşılabilir örneklem yöntemi ile belirlenen 269 öğrenci, 617 öğretmen adayı ve 167 öğretmen, toplam 1053 katılımcı oluşturmaktadır. Araştırmada veri toplamak üzere Infante ve Rancer (1982) tarafından 20 madde olarak geliştirilen, Turunç, Eser ve Dinç (2018) tarafından 10 madde halinde Türkçe’ye uyarlanan tartışmacı tutum ölçeği ile araştırmacılar tarafından geliştirilen kişisel bilgi formu kullanılmıştır. Öğrencilerin, öğretmen adaylarının ve öğretmenlerin demografik özelliklerine ilişkin frekans ve yüzde dağılımlarının yanı sıra katılımcıların tartışmacı tutumları bağımsız değişkenlere göre belirlenmiştir. Öğretmenlerin tutumları kıdem ve cinsiyete göre anlamlı farklılık göstermemektedir. Öğretmen adaylarının ve ortaokul öğrencilerinin sınıf düzeyleri arasında anlamlı farklılık bulunmuştur. Yine öğretmen adaylarında erkeklerin kaçınma tutumuna daha çok sahip olduğu gözlenmiştir. Araştırma öğretmen, öğrenci ve öğretmen adaylarının tartışmacılığa yönelik olumlu tutumlara sahip olsa da tartışmayla ilgili çeşitli kaygılarının da olduğunu göstermektedir. Sonuçlar ışığında öğretmen, öğrenci ve öğretmen adaylarının özenle hazırlanmış ve yürütülen tartışmalara katılımının sağlanması ile çelişen duyguların boylamsal araştırmalarla incelenmesi önerilmiştir.

21. yüzyılda sağlık, finans ve teknoloji alanında yaşanan gelişmeler insanlığı gelecekte nelerin beklediğine dair soruları tekrar gündeme getirmiştir. Koronavirüs salgını, yapay zekâ, kripto para gibi konular alışılmış davranış ve düşünce kalıplarını değişmeye zorlamaktadır. Bu bağlamda ideal toplum kurguları üretmek duyarlı, katılımcı vatandaşlık tutum, bilgi ve davranışları geliştirmede yardımcı olabilir. Bu araştırma sosyal bilgiler öğretmen adaylarının vatandaşlıkla ilgili gelecek kurgularını incelemeyi amaçlamaktadır. Araştırma öğretmen adaylarının ütopik/distopik kurgularında vatandaşlığa, vatandaşların rol ve sorumluluklarına insan hakları, demokrasi, katılım, siyaset, devlet, anayasa kavramlarına nasıl yer verdiğini göstermesi bakımından önemlidir. Vatandaşlık gibi kapsamlı bir kavramı bütüncül olarak ele alabilmek amacıyla bu araştırmada anlatı araştırma deseni tercih edilmiştir. Araştırma verilerini 44 öğrencinin oluşturduğu 10 farklı ütopik/distopik hikâye oluşturmaktadır. Verilerin analizinde problem çözüm anlatı analiz tekniği uygulanmıştır. Araştırma sonuçları, öğretmen adaylarının lider odaklı bir siyasal sistem tasarladıklarını, karar vericileri “iyi” veya “kötü” olarak betimlenen liderler olarak tayin ettiklerini göstermektedir. Öte yandan öğretmen adaylarının ideal katılım biçimi olarak genelde sadece seçimleri işaret ettiği gözlenmiştir. Seçimler anlatıların çoğunda tek demokratik katılım biçimi olarak ele alınırken, sınırlı sayıdaki anlatıda diğer katılım biçimlerine yer verilmektedir. Sonuçlardan hareketle katılıma odaklanan uygulamalı yeni çalışmaların gerçekleştirilmesi ve öğretmen eğitiminde vatandaşlık kuramlarının etkili öğretim yöntem ve teknikleriyle daha güçlü bir şekilde ele alınması önerilmiştir. The current global issues in health, finance, and technology in the 21st century have brought up significant questions about the future of humanity. Based on current issues, scholars argue that consequences of social conditions and expected current and future roles and responsibilities of citizens should be addressed in citizenship education. Creating fictions regarding ideal society can improve responsible, participatory citizenship attitudes, knowledge and behaviors. In this context, utopian/dystopian fictions have a potential on developing students' imagination of the social, political and cultural structure of society. This research aims to examine the fictional utopian and dystopian stories of pre-service social studies teachers about citizenship. Narrative inquiry design was implemented in this study in order to be able to study the notion of citizenship holistically. The research data consists of 10 different utopian/dystopian stories created by 44 students. In the analysis of the data, the problem solution narrative analysis technique was applied. The results of the research show that preservice teachers envision a leader-oriented political system, and they portray decision makers as leaders who are described as "good" or "bad". On the other hand, it is inferred that pre-service teachers’ ideal participation type is elections. While elections are handled as the only form of democratic participation in most of the narratives, few narratives include other forms of participation such as protest, petition.

Edebiyatta, bazı kavramların düz veya yan anlamlarına net sınırlar çizmek her zaman kolay değildir. Bu doğrultuda, birçok tür ve terimin anlam ve kullanım açısından köklü değişimler yaşadığı gözlemlenmiştir. Hatta bazı kavramlar, görünüşte karşıtlarıyla ilişkilendirilmiştir. Yücelik ve grotesk kavramları arasındaki karmaşık ve muğlak ilişki, bu eğilimin en bariz örneklerinden biridir. Edebiyatta yücelik kavramının ne anlama geldiği veya ne anlama gelmesi gerektiği konusundaki görüşler uzun bir geçmişe dayanmaktadır. Hemen hemen tüm tanımların buluştuğu ortak nokta ise bu kavramın acı ve korku gibi güçlü duygulara neden olma potansiyelidir. Güzellik kavramından farkı, insan duyuları alanının ötesinde olmasıyla açıklanmıştır. Grotesk kavramı ise çoğu zaman tuhaf ve çirkinin eş anlamlısı olarak kullanılmıştır. Ancak pek çok Romantik şairin Shakespeare’i groteskin başlangıcı olarak göstermesinin nedeni, bu kavramın şefkatle olan tuhaf bağlantısıdır. Bu bağlamda ilk bakışta zıt gibi görünen bu iki kavram, bazı noktalarda kesişmek zorunda kalmıştır. Bu çalışma, Howard Barker’ın Bir İnfazın Portresi adlı eserindeki yücelik ile grotesk arasındaki farkın nasıl bulanıklaştığını ve yazarın bu kavramları benzer çağrışımlarla kullanmasını ortaya koymaktadır., In literature, it is not always easy to set clear boundaries to the denotations or connotations of certain concepts. In this direction, many genres and terms have been observed to undergo fundamental changes in terms of meaning and usage. Some concepts have even been associated with their seemingly opposites. The complex and ambiguous relationship between the concepts of the sublime and the grotesque is one of the most obvious examples of this inclination. Arguments on what the concept of sublimity means or should mean in literature have a long history. The common ground that almost all definitions meet is the potential of this concept to cause strong emotions such as pain and fear. Its difference from the concept of beauty has been explained by the fact of its being outside the realm of human senses. The concept of the grotesque, on the other hand, has often been used as an equivalent to the weird and ugly. However, the reason why so many Romantic poets point to Shakespeare as the beginning of the grotesque is the strange connection of this concept with compassion. In this context, these two concepts, which seem to be opposites at first glance, have had to intersect at some points. This study reveals how the difference between the sublime and the grotesque blurs in Howard Barker’s Scenes from an Execution and the author’s use of these concepts with similar connotations.

There are several subtypes that can cause disease in humans and animals. Infection can be caused by food, such as eggs, poultry, contaminated waters, and can also be monitored after contact with animals. In humans, it may present with different clinics ranging from asymptomatic carriage to enteric fever. Factors such as the age of the host, immunosuppressive status and additional comorbidities may be effective in the course of the disease. Extraintestinal complications can be observed during the course of enteric fever clinic. Among these complications, clinical conditions such as endocarditis, visceral abscess, osteomyelitis can be considered. In this case, we presented the myocarditis clinic in a patient who presented with vomiting, chest pain and diarrhea, and Salmonella was found in the stool Salmonella, gram negatif, hareketli, sporsuz, fakültatif anaerobik, Enterobacteriaceae ailesine ait bir bakteri türüdür. İnsanlarda ve hayvanlarda hastalık yapabilen çeşitli alt tipleri mevcuttur. Bulaşma yumurta, kümes hayvanları, kontamine sular gibi gıda kaynaklı olabileceği gibi hayvanlarla temas sonrasında da izlenebilmektedir. İnsanlarda asemptomatik taşıyıcılıktan enterik ateşe kadar farklı kliniklerle ortaya çıkabilir. Hastalığın seyrinde konağın yaşı, immunsupresif durumu ve ek komorbiditeleri gibi faktörler etkili olabilmektedir. Enterik ateş kliniği seyri sırasında extraintestinal komplikasyonlar izlenebilmektedir. Bu komplikasyonlar arasında endokardit, viseral abse, osteomyelit gibi klinik durumlar sayılabilmektedir. Biz de bu vakamızda kusma, göğüs ağrısı ve diyare kliniği ile gelen gaitada Salmonella saptanan hastada myokardit kliniğini sunduk.
