Objective: To determine the shrinkage effect of formalin on renal cell carcinoma. Method: The retrospective study was conducted from October to November 2020 at Tekirdag Namil kemal University, Turkey and comprised all radical and partial nephrectomy cases performed by a single surgeon in a single clinic between January 2014 and August 2020. Preoperative images and postoperative pathology were reviewed by the same clinician. Preoperative longest tumour diameter of radiological images and pathological specimens measured after formalin fixation shrinkage were compared, and the effect of the difference between the two measurements on the circumference of the tumour was examined. The formalin related shrinkage rates of renal tumours according to the tumour size and the tumour types were also analysed. Data was analysed using SPSS 20. Results: Of the 101 cases, 58(57.4%) were of radical and 43(42.6%) of partial nephrectomy. Also, there were 77(76.2%) renal cell carcinoma cases, 22(21.8%) benign renal tumours and 2(1.9%) had other malignant tumours. There were 59(58.4%) males and 42(41.6%) females with an overall mean age of 58.1±12,2 years (range: 30-82 years). The mean radiological size of the renal tumours was 55.3±30.4mm and it was 52.9±31.6mm at pathological examination (p>0.05). Conclusion: Formalin fixation of tissues post-surgery caused a difference between the radiological and pathological dimensions. Though the difference was no significant, under-staging due to the shrinkage post-surgery should be considered. In our study, we investigated the predictive properties of LVI (lymphovascular invasion) and PNI (perineural invasion) on survival times from pathology specimens obtained from surgical operation after neoadjuvant chemotherapy (NAC) with breast cancer patients. Two hundered eleven female patients were included in this study. We evaluated the relationship between potential prognostic factors and mean recurrence-free survival (RFS) and overall survival (OS) times using Kaplan-Meier methodology and Cox proportional hazard modelling.The mean follow-up time was 27.3 months.PNI positive patients had shorter RFS and OS times than PNI negatives (p< 0.001, p= 0.002, respectively), and LVI positive patients had shorter RFS and OS times than LVI negatives (p< 0.001, p< 0.001, re-spectively). In the multivariate analysis performed, the presence of pN stage and PNI were found to be predictive for RFS (p= 0.047, p< 0.001, respectively), while pT stage and PNI positivity were found to be predictive for OS (p= 0.035, p= 0.017, respectively). LVI did not show the property of being an independent predictive marker for survival. PNI caused significant survival differences in all subtypes for both RFS (log-rank p< 0.001, p= 0.003, p= 0.001, respectively) and OS(log-rank p= 0.035, p= 0.006, p= 0.020 respectively) in HR+/Her2-, Her2+ and Triple negative breast cancer subtyping. LVI, on the other hand, caused survival distribution difference for RFS (p= 0.021) in the HR+/Her2-subtype and for both RFS and OS in the Triple-negative subtype (p< 0.001, p= 0.025, respectively). PNI is strongly and significantly associated with RFS and OS. We suggest that it can be used in identifying high-risk patients for recurrence of PNI and in new staging systems.

Aim: In this study, we aimed to evaluate the re-transurethral resection (re-TUR) pathologies and to compare the pathology results between transurethral resection of the bladder (TUR-B) and re-TUR for non-muscle invasive bladder cancer (NMIBC). Additionally, we aimed to assess the factors affecting the re-TUR pathology and try to define more valuable re-TUR patient groups. We also aimed to evaluate the effect of re-TUR on recurrence and progression. Material and Method: We performed re-TUR in intermediate/high-risk NMIBC patients, 4-6 weeks after the index TUR-B. Both TUR-B and re-TUR pathology characteristics, including tumor stage, grade, size, number, lymphovascular invasion (LVI), carcinoma in situ (CIS), variant pathology, and intermediate/high-risk status were analyzed retrospectively. The recurrence and progression rates were also evaluated according to re-TUR. Results: A total of 78 patients with NMIBC were included in the study. The index TUR-B pathologies were Ta-Low: 6 (7,7%), Ta-High: 5 (6,4%), T1-Low: 14 (17,9%), T1-High: 53 (67,9%). Re-TUR positivity was n: 40 (51 %), and upstaging/upgrading at re-TUR was n: 11 (14 %) in all groups. Re-TUR positivity was significantly higher in high-risk compared to intermediate-risk NMIBC (p:0,026). Re-TUR positivity was higher in patients with hydronephrosis, C15. LVI, differentiation, size (>3 cm), and multiple tumor presence (p0,05). Discussion: Residual tumor was common after the index TUR-B, and upstaging after re-TUR was very important Re-TUR is critically important in high-risk NMIBC, presence of hydronephrosis, CIS, LVI, variant pathology, size (>3 cm). and multiple number of tumors.

Aim: Histopathological classification is one of the main prognostic factors for non-muscle invasive bladder tumors (NMIBT). Weevaluated the relationship between tumor progression and the ratio of high-grade differentiation plus other routine pathologicalparameters in NMIBT.Materials and Methods: Ninety-two patients diagnosed with high grade NIMBT were analyzed between 2010-2018. Demographicinformation, tumor size, localization, multicentricity, and recurrence/progression situation were evaluated retrospectively. The high/lowgrade percentage ratio of tumor cells, tumor stage, differentiation, necrosis, lamina-propria invasion, lymphovascular invasion, andcarcinoma in-situ presence were also examined by two uro-pathologist. The effect on tumor progression was evaluated with pathologicalfindings.Results: Seventy-four (80.4%) of the patients were reported as T1 and 18 (19.6%) as Ta. The mean ratio of high-grade findings was11.9±8.5% and 69.5±28.1% for Ta and T1 patients, respectively(p25%, >50% and >75% was found to be 67(72.8%),54(58.7%) and 43(46.7%), respectively. The high-grade ratio for >25% was in only 1 Ta patient while it was in 66 of the T1patients(p75%(p50%(p=0.025).Conclusion: When evaluating the nuclear grade, defining tumors solely as high-grade leads to stratifying a highly heterogeneouspopulation in a single group. Higher rate of progression is observed in NIMBT patients with high-grade ratio >50%. KİOMT’de yüksek dereceli hücresel farklılaşma oranı ve diğer rutin patolojik parametrelerin progresyona etkisi değerlendirildi. Materyal ve Metot: Çalışmaya 2010-2018 yılları arasında transüretral mesane rezeksiyonu sonrası yüksek dereceli KİOMT tanısı alan 92 hasta dahil edildi. Hastaların demografik bilgileri, tümör çapı, lokalizasyonu, multisantrisitesi ve nüks/progresyon varlığı-süresi retrospektif olarak değerlendirildi. Ayrıca tümör hücrelerinin yüksek derece/düşük derece yüzdesi, tümör evresi, diferansiyasyon, nekroz, lamina propria invazyonu, lenfovasküler invazyon ve karsinoma in-situ varlığı iki üro-patolog tarafından incelendi. Elde edilen bulguların tümör progresyonu üzerine etkisi araştırıldı. Bulgular: Hastaların 74’ü(%80,4) T1, 18’i(%19,6) Ta olarak rapor edildi. Ta tanılı hastalarda yüksek derece oranı %11,9±8,5 iken, T1’lerde %69,5±28,1 olarak tespit edildi (p%25,>%50 ve>%75 olan hasta sayısının sırasıyla 67(%72,8), 54(%58,7) ve 43(%46,7) olduğu görüldü. Ta olan hastaların sadece 1’inde yüksek derece oranı>%25 olarak gözlenirken, T1 hastalarının 66’sında yüksek derece oranının>%25 olduğu belirlendi (p%75 olduğu görüldü. T1 yüksek derece oranları>%50 olan hastalarda progresyon, patolojik evresi T1 yüksek derece oranları %50 olan hastalarda progresyon anlamlı derecede artmaktadır.

Perinatal Autopsy is the name given to postmortemexamination in fetus and / or newborn period. In the perinatal period there is rapid growthand complex changes occur. During this growth and development, many factorscause anomalies, growth retardation and even death. Today, most of thepregnancies are closely monitored, fetuses with severe anomalies are detectedin the early period by various methods and the pregnancy is terminated with theconsent of the family. In this case, confirming the pathological autopsyanomaly with the consent of the family according to the gestational week andthe presence of other concomitant anomalies may be a guide for other pregnanciesto be planned. It is recommended that all reproductive losses be sent to thepathology laboratory and evaluated. In all perinatal autopsies, an informedconsent form should be completed. The autopsy procedure should be explained indetail and the limitations of the evaluation should be shared.

The aim of this study was to determine HPV DNA by PCR in smear and biopsy materials in patients with abnormal smear andto compare the results with biopsy. The study included 24 patients aged 26 to 74 years. Patients with H-SIL, L-SIL or ASCUS who were diagnosed with abnormal smear during the pathological evaluation were evaluated and the presence of HPV wasinvestigated with molecular tests. Demographic information was obtained from patients before colposcopy and the presence offactors that may cause HPV infection were examined. In pathological specimens taken from patients with abnormal smear results,biopsy was diagnosed as cervical CA in 33%, H-SIL in 4%, L-SIL in 13%, and normal in 50% of patients. HPV DNA wasdetermined, and it was observed that HPV 16 was the highest prevalence of HPV subtypes (HPV 16, HPV 18, HPV 31 and HPV58). Of the 5 patients with HPV 16, 4 were found to have cervical CA, while the remaining 1 was H-SIL. In addition, the HPVpositivity rate was higher in people with more than 1 partner, whereas the number of HPV positive cases was three or more ingravity. In this study; the contribution of pathological diagnostic methods and microbiological results to the diagnosis, and theimportance of the scanning programs and early diagnosis was revealed., Bu çalışmada, anormalsmear tanısı kona n hastalarda, smear ve biyopsi materyallerinde PCR yöntemi ile HPV DNAanalizi yapılarak sonuçların biyopsi tanısıyla karşılaştırılması amaçlanmıştır.Çalışma, yaşları 26 ile 74 arasında değişen 24 hasta üzerindegerçekleştirilmiştir. Ele alınan vakalardan patolojik değerlendirme sonucundaH-SIL, L-SIL veya ASCUS ile anormal smear tanısı konmuş hastalara kolposkopikbiyopsi yapılarak örnekler elde edilmiş ve moleküler testler ile HPV varlığıaraştırılmıştır. Kolposkopi öncesinde hastalara anket uygulanarak demografikbilgiler elde edilmiş ve HPV enfeksiyonuna neden olabilecek faktörlerin varlığıincelenmiştir. Anormal smear sonucuna sahip hastalardan alınan patolojikörneklerde, biyopsi tanısı %33’ünde serviks CA, %4’ünde H-SIL, %13’ünde L-SILve %50’si normal olarak bulunmuştur. Ayrıca, normal smear sonucuna sahip tümhastaların %33’ünde HPV DNA belirlenmiş ve belirlenen HPV alt tipleri (HPV 16,HPV 18, HPV 31 ve HPV 58) arasında en yüksek oranda izlenen alt tipin HPV 16olduğu tespit edilmiştir. HPV 16 bulunan 5 hastadan 4’ünün biyopsi tanısınınserviks CA olduğu tespit edilmiş, kalan 1 hastanın ise H-SIL olduğugörülmüştür. Ayrıca, partner sayısı 1’den fazla olan kişilerde HPV pozitiflikoranının yüksek olduğu görülürken, HPV pozitif vakaların tamamının gravidesayısının üç veya üzeri olduğu gözlenmiştir. Bu çalışmada patolojik tanıyöntemleri ve mikrobiyolojik inceleme sonuçlarının tanıya katkısı ortayakonulmuş, tarama programlarının ve erken teşhisin önemi bir kez daha ortayaçıkarılmıştır.

Renal hücreli karsinom, erişkin neoplazilerinin %3’ünü oluşturan agresif bir tümördür. En sık metastaz yaptığı yerler akciğer, adrenal, barsak, beyin ve intraabdominal organlardır. Bunun yanı sıra literatürde kalp, mesane, meme, tonsil ve tiroide yerleşen metastaz olguları bildirilmiştir. Bu yazıda bir nazal kavite yerleşimli renal hücreli karsinom metastazı olgusunu, nazal obstrüksiyon ve epistaksis görülen ve renal hücreli karsinomu olan hastalarda metastaz olasılığının akılda tutulmasını vurgulamak amacıylasunduk. Renal cell carcinoma is an aggressive tumor that accounts for 3% of adult neoplasia. The most common sites of metastasis are the lung, adrenal, large intestine, brain and intraabdominal organs. In addition, cases of metastasis in the heart, bladder, breast, tonsil and thyroid have been reported in the literature. We present a case of renal cell carcinoma metastasis located in a nasal cavity in order to emphasize the possibility of metastatic lesions being responsible for nasal obstruction and epistaxis.

WOS: 000215591800003 Aim: Cervical cancer incidence and mortality have been significantly reduced by the regular and population based application of cervical cancer screening programme. Five percent of patients in screening programme need to be treated with further diagnostic tools. The most commonly used technique for further evaluation is colposcopy. In this study we evaluated the results of colposcopy procedure, which had been carried out in our clinical setting, together with the cytology and tissue biopsy results. Material and Method: One hundred ninety colposcopy procedures, which had been carried out in gynecology clinic of Namik Kemal University Faculty of Medicine, Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology, were evaluated retrospectively. Colposcopy indications and results, cytology results and biopsy results were evaluated. Results: The mean age of the population was 42.8 +/- 10.4. Forty-four (23.2%) of patients were postmenopausal and 146 (76.8%) were premenopausal. The 51 (26.8%) patients were smoking. Colposcopy indication for 42 (22.1%) patients was visible lesions on the cervix. Colposcopy indication for the rest of the population was abnormal cervical smear results. Colposcopy was negative for the 49 (25.8%) patients. The biopsies revealed no dysplasia for 153 (80.5%) patients, CIN 1 for 17 (8.9%) patients, CIN 2 for 9 (4.7%) patients, CIN 3 for 7 (3.7%) patients, in situ squamous carcinoma for 2 (1.1%) patients, squamous carcinoma for 2 (1.1%) patients. Random biopsies from colposcopy negative patients revealed CIN 3 for 1 patient and CIN 2 for 2 patients. These 3 patients represented 6.1% of colposcopy negative patients. The sensitivity of colposcopy for detecting CIN 2 and higher-grade lesions were 85 % in our study. Discussion: The main goal of the cervical screening programme is to detect CIN 3 lesions. Our results supports recent findings in literature suggesting random cervical biopsies in colposcopy negative patients, especially in patients who have risk for high-grade dysplasia in their cervical smear such as HSIL or ASC-H, should be done to improve sensitivity of colposcopy. Giriş: Servikal kanserin taramasının uygun popülasyona düzenli şekilde uy-gulanması ile kanser sıklığı ve mortalitesi belirgin olarak azalmıştır. Tarama programı çerçevesinde hastaların %5’inde ileri tetkik gerekmektedir. İleri de-ğerlendirmede en sık kullanılan yöntem de kolposkopidir. Bu çalışmada mer-kezimizde gerçekleştirilen kolposkopi işlemlerinin sonuçları, sitoloji ve doku biyopsileri ile birlikte değerlendirilmiştir. Gereç ve Yöntem: Namık Kemal Üni-versitesi Tıp Fakültesi, kadın hastalıkları ve doğum polikliniğinde gerçekleşti-rilen 190 kolposkopi işlemi retrospektif olarak incelenmiştir. Hastaların kol-poskopi endikasyonları ve sonuçları, smear sonuçları ve biyopsi sonuçları de-ğerlendirilmiştir. Bulgular: Hastaların yaş ortalaması 42.8 ± 10.4 idi. Hasta-ların 44’ü (%23.2) menopozdayken, 146’sı (%76.8) premenopozaldi. Sigara kullanan hasta sayısı 51 (%26.8)’di. Hastaların 42’sine (%22.1) servikste lez-yon izlenmesi nedeniyle kolposkopi yapıldı. Diğer hastalara ise anormal sme-ar sonucu nedeniyle kolposkopi uygulandı. Hastaların 49 (%25.8)’unda kol-poskopi negatifti. Alınan biyopsilerin sonucunda; 153 (%80.5) hastada displa-zi saptanmazken, 17 (%8.9) CIN 1, 9 (%4.7) CIN 2, 7 (%3.7) CIN 3, 2 (%1.1) in situ skuamoz karsinom, 2 (%1.1) skuamoz karsinom saptandı. Kolposkopisin-de lezyon saptanmayan 49 hastadan alınan rastgele biyopsilerde 1 hastada CIN 3, 2 hastada CIN 2 saptadık. Bu 3 hasta, kolposkopisi negatif olan hasta-ların %6.1’ini oluşturmaktaydı. Serimizde kolposkopinin CIN2 ve üzeri lezyon-ları saptamadaki duyarlılığı %85’dir. Tartışma: Serviks kanseri tarama prog-ramının temel hedefi CIN 3 vakalarını tespit edilmesidir. Bulgularımız, gün-cel literatürde belirtilen, kolposkopide patolojik bulgu saptanmayan, özellikle smear sonucu HSIL veya ASC-H gibi yüksek displazi riski taşıyan hasta grup-larında, servikal biyopsi alınmasının kolposkopinin sensitivitesini yükseltebi-leceği hipotezini desteklemektedir.

The Relationship Of Galectin-3, Estrogen And Progesteron Expression And FIGO Staging In Normal, Hyperplastic And Carcinomatous Endometrium Endometrium carcinoma is the most common gynecological malignancy in developed countries. Hormone receptor expression in endometrium carcinoma is one of the prognostic factors. It is thought that galectin-3, one of the member ofbetagalactozide- binding lectin family, binds to basal membrane glycoprotein and has a role in many biological events. Galectin-3's role in tumor progression is not completely understood. In our study, we examined estrogen, progesteron, and galectin-3 expression in normal functional (n=I2), hyperplastic (with or without atypia) (n=7), carcinomatous endometrial tissues (n-25) and also examined immunohistochemically the relationship of expression with FIGO staging. Estrogen, progesteron expressionin normal cases was more meaningful statistically than the one in carcinoma cases. Amaç: Gerek yurt içi gerekse yurt dışı literatürlere bakıldığında Helicobacter pylori (H. pylori) ile Sydney sınıflamasındaki histolojik parametrelerin tümünü içine alan karşılaştırma nadirdir. Çalışmamızın amacı dispeptik şikayetler nedeniyle gastroskopi yapılmış ve antrum biyopsilerinde gastrit tanısı almış 797 hastadaki H. pylori sıklığını tespit etmek ve Sydney sınıflamasına göre yapılan histolojik parametreleri analiz edip H. pylori ile olan ilişkisini göstermektir. Gereç ve yöntem: Çalışmaya Mart 2010 ve Mart 2013 tarihleri arasında Namık Kemal Üniversitesi Tıp Fakültesi Gastroenteroloji Kliniği endoskopi ünitesinde gastroskopik incelenmesi yapılan ve patolojik olarak sadece gastritis tanısı alan 309'u erkek, 488'i kadın toplam 797 hasta alındı. Bulgular: Ortalama yaş 44.96 ±13.90 idi ve cinsler arasında yaş farklılığı yoktu (p>0.05). 700 (%87,7) hastada enflamasyon, 368 ( %46) hastada aktivasyon, 108 (%13,5) hastada intestinal metaplazi, 130 (%16.3) hastada atrofi ve 301 (%37.7) hastada lenfoid follikül mevcuttu. 587 (%73,7) hastada H. pylori pozitif idi. Sonuç: H. pylori prevalans oranımız %73,7 olup literatür ortalamasıyla ile benzerlik göstermektedir. İntestinal metaplazi sıklığımız literatür ortalamasının altındadır. Atrofi sıklığı literatüre göre anlamlı düşük idi. Toplam hastalardaki lenfoid follikül oranımız %37.7 ve H. pylori pozitif hastalardaki lenfoid follikül oranı ise %46,3 olup literatüre ile benzerdir Objective: Scanning both domestic and foreign literature, studies regarding correlation of Helicobacter pylori (H. pylori) with whole histologic parameters of Sydney classification are scarce. The aim of the present study was to to identify the frequency of H. pylori, to analyze the histological parameters according to Sydney classification, and to evaluate the correlation of H. pylori with these parameters in 797 patients whom endoscopy was done for dyspeptic complaints. Material and methods: The present study was conducted between March 2010 and March 2013 in the Gastroenterology Clinics of Namik Kemal University, Faculty of Medicine. 797 patients (309 male, 488 female, mean age: 44.96 ±13.90) who underwent gastroscopy and whose gastric mucosal biopsies revealed gastritis were included. Results: No difference in age and gender was observed (p>0,05). 700 (87,7 %) patients had inflammation, 368 ( 46 %) activation, 108 (13,5 %) intestinal metaplasia, 130 (16.3 %) atrophy, and 301 (37.7 %) lymhoid follicles. H. pylori was positive in 587 (73,7 %) patients. Conclusion: The prevalence of H. pylori was 73.7% and similar to the results of medical literature. Metaplasia and atrophy were lower than that of the previous studies. Lymphoid follicles were positive in 37.7% of the patients . Amaç: Biz bu çalışmada; hücre birimleri, organizasyon ve arşitektürel yapılanmalar bakımından orijinaline yakın sayılabilecek genel anlamda bir vücut yapımı gösteren matür kistik teratomlarda epidermisteki melanositler ve Langerhans hücrelerinin varlığı, birbiri ile sayısal ilişkileri ve birlikte bulunmaları halinde embriyolojik kaynakları hakkında fikir yürütebilmeyi amaçladık. Yöntemler: Sağlık Bakanlığı İstanbul Eğitim ve Araştırma Hastanesi Patoloji Bölümü'nde 2006-2009 yılları arasında rapor edilen 45 matür kistik teratom olgusu çalışmaya alındı. İmmünohistokimyasal olarak; melanositler için Human Melanoma Black-45 (HMB-45) ve Melanoma Antigens (Melan-A) recognized by T cells-1), Langerhans hücreleri için Cluster of Differentiation 1a (CD1a) ve Langerin uygulandı. Bulgular: Langerhans hücreleri olguların %100'ünde tespit edilmekle birlikte, melanositler %88,2'sinde mevcuttu. Sonuç: Bizim çalışmamıza göre Langerhans hücrelerinin, melanositlerin köken aldığı bilinen nöral krest dışında bir kaynaktan gelişmiş olabileceği ve bu iki hücre arasında ilişki olamayabileceği sonucuna vardık. Objective: The purpose of this study was to form a view about the existence, numerical relationship and embryological origin of melanocytes and Langerhans cells when they are found together in mature cystic teratomas which have similar cell types and architectural structure to the original vertebrated body. Methods: Forty five mature cystic teratomas cases, diagnosed in the Ministry of Health İstanbul Education and Research Hospital Pathology Department between 2006-2009 were included in the study. Immunohistochemically, Human Melanoma Black-45 (HMB-45) and Melanoma Antigens (Melan-A) recognized by T cells-1) for melanocytes, Cluster of Differentiation 1a (CD1a) and Langerin for Langerhans cells were applied. Results: Although Langerhans cells were detected in 100%, melanocytes were established in 88.2% of cases. Conclusion: According to our study, Langerhans cells could derive from another source except the neural crest where melanocytes evolve and there is no relationship between them.

Granüler hücreli tümörler (GHT), sıklıkla subkutan dokuda veya mukozada yerleşim gösteren, neoplaziler içerisinde %0.019-%0.003 sıklıkta görülen nadir tümörlerdir. Tüm GHT olgularının %1-3’ünde malign karakter saptanmaktadır. Bu tümörler diğer adıyla Abrikossof tümörü; genellikle benign karakter göstermekte olup, schwann hücrelerinden köken aldığı bilinmektedir. Literatürde az sayıda olgularla belirlenen klinik özellikler yol gösterici olsa da patolojik inceleme ile benign ve malign ayırımı kesin olarak yapılabilmektedir. Ancak özellikle malign olgularda ayırıcı tanıda malign melanom ve iğsi hücreli skuamöz hücreli karsinom yer almaktadır. Bening ve malign granüler hücreli iki tümör olgularının nadir görülmeleri ve klinik ve histopatolojik özellikleri karşılaştırılarak literatür eşliğinde tartışılmaya sunulmaktadır, Granular cell tumour (GCT) which are frequently located in subcutaneous and mucosal tissue are rare tumors with prevalence ranging from 0.019% to 0.003% of all neoplasms. These tumours also known as Abrikossof tumour are usually in benign character and they are originated from schwann cells. In literature with small case series, even though clinical parameters guide to diagnosis, the differential diagnosis of malign and benign GCT can only be done by pathological evaluation. Also especially in malign cases malign melanoma and spindle cell squamous cell carcinoma are in differential diagnosis. In here we report clinical and histopatological features of benign and malign GCT cases which are rare and also compare these cases in details with literature.

Amaç: B lenfosit belirteci olarak bilinen CD24, intrasellüler sinyal iletiminde, hücre-hücre ve hücre-matriks arasındaki haberleşmenin düzenlenmesinde de önemli rol almaktadır. Son 10 yılda CD24 salınımı ile birçok tü- mörün ilerlemesi ve prognozu arasında ilişki bulunmuştur. Bu çalışmadaki amacımız, CD24 salınımının mesane ürotelyal karsinomlarında, en önemli morfolojik prognostik parametreler olan tümör evresi ve diferansiyasyon derecesi ile karşılaştırmak ve etkinliğini tartışmaktır. Yöntemler: Ocak 2005- Ekim 2008 yılları arasında, S.B. İstanbul Eğitim ve Araştırma Hastanesi patoloji laboratuvarında mesane transüretral rezeksiyon biopsi (TUR-B) materyali olarak gönderilmiş ve ürotelyal karsinom tanısı almış 79 olgu çalışmaya alınmıştır. Tüm olgular Hematoksilen-Eosin histokimyasal boyamasıyla tekrar değerlendirildi ve Dünya Sağlık Örgütü (WHO)-2004 sınıflamasına göre derecelendirildi. Patolojik evre TNM sınıflamasına gore yapıldı. Tüm olgulara ait kesitlere immunhistokimyasal boyama olarak CD24 boyandı, semikantatif olarak CD24 salınımı pozitif hücrelerde değerlendirildi. Sex cord-stromal tumors account for 5% of ovarian tumors and 2% of malignant ovarian tumors. Steroid cell tumors (SCT), not otherwise specified (NOS), are rare sex cord-stromal tumors of the ovary and account for less than 0.1% of all ovarian tumors. We report a rare case of a postmenopausal woman presented with hirsutism, virilism and with findings of hyperestrogenism.

AMAÇ: İğsi hücreli lipomun histolojik ve tipik immunhistokimyasal özelliklerini araştırmak ve diğer subkutan yerleşimli benzer histolojik ve immunhistokimyasal özellikleri olan neoplazmlarla ayırıcı tanısını yapmaktır. YÖNTEMLER: İstanbul Eğitim ve Araştırma Hastanesi patoloji laboratuarında lipom tanısı almış 3100 olguda son Dünya Sağlık Örgütü Yumuşak Doku Tümörleri Sınıflamasına göre alt tipler belirlendi ve bunların içinden 22 İHL çalışmaya alındı. 22 iğsi hücreli lipom olgusunda klinik (yaş, lokalizasyon, cinsiyet, nüks), morfolojik özellikler (tümör boyutu, alt tip, histoloji, mast hücre varlığı ve immunhistokimya), tümörlerin natürü ve ayrıcı tanı problemleri değerlendirildi. BULGULAR: 3100 lipomun alt tiplere göre dağılımı şu şekildeydi: 2864 klasik lipom (%90), 293 anjiyolipom (%9), 1 kondroid lipom (%0.03), 1 miyolipom (%0.03 ve 22 iğsi hücreli lipom (% 0.7). 22 iğsi hücreli lipomların 9’u fibröz, 3’ü miksoid, 1’i anjiyomatoid ve 9’u nonfibröz alt tipti. Erkek kadın oranı 18/4 olarak belirlendi. Olguların 2’si sırt, 3’ü omuz, 1’i ön kol, 1’i oral olup 15’ü baş-boyun bölgesinde lokalize idi. Ortalama tümör çapı 3.2 cm olup en büyük ve küçük çaplar 1 cm ve 6.1 cm olarak ölçüldü. Fibromatöz alt tipte belirgin olmak üzere Toluidin blue boyasıyla her olguda mast hücresi mevcuttu. Mast hücre sayısı on büyük büyütme alanında ortalama 23 olarak bulundu. S–100 tüm iğsi hücrelerde negatif ve yağ hücrelerinde pozitif olarak tespit edildi. CD34 olguların 21’inde pozitif, 1’inde negatif bulundu. Hiçbir olguda nüks izlenmedi. SONUÇ: İğsi hücreli lipom, subkutan lokalizasyonlu, iyi sınırlı, iğsi hücreli komponenti CD34 pozitif, mast hücrelerinden zengin bir tümör olup birçok subkutan tümörle ayırıcı tanı yapılmasını gerektiren nadir bir antitedir. OBJECTIVE: To investigate the histologic and immunohistochemical properties of spindle cell lipoma and to make its differential diagnosis from other subcutaneous neoplasms having similar histologic or immunohistochemical charecteristics. METHODS: 3100 cases of lipoma diagnosed in the Pathology Laboratory of İstanbul Educational and Research Hospital were reclassified according to the recent classification of Soft Tissue Tumors by World Health Organization and 22 spindl cell lipomas were included in the study. Clinical (age, gender, location, and recurrences) and morphologic features (tumor size, subtype, histology, presence of mast cells, and immunohistochemistry) as well as tumor nature and problems in differential diagnosis were evaluated. RESULTS: The histologic subtypes of 3100 lipomas were as follows: 2864 classical lipoma (90 %), 293 angiolipoma (9 %), 1 chondroid lipoma (0.03 %), 1 myolipoma (0.03 %) and 22 spindl cell lipoma (% 0.7). Of the 22 spindl cell lipoma 9 were fibrous, 3 myxoid, 1 angiomatoid and 9 non-fibrous subtypes. Male to female ratio was 18: 4. 2 cases were localized in dorsal region, 3 in shoulders, 1 in forearm, 1 in oral cavity and 15 in head and neck. Average tumor diameter was 3.2 cm ranging from 1 to 6.1 cm. Mast cells highligtened by Toluidin blue were seen in all cases, most prominently in the fibrous subtype. Mast cell count in 10 high power field was 23. S–100 was negative in all spindle cells while lipomcytes were positive. CD34 was positive in 21 cases and negative in 1 case. No case recurred. CONCLUSION: Spindl cell lipoma is a subcutaneous, well-circumscribed tumor rich in mast cells with a CD34+ spindle cell component and is an uncommon entity requiring differential diagnosis with several subcutaneous tumors.
