E-Ticaret platformlari, insan-bilgisayar etkilesiminin hizli buyuyen alanlarindan biridir. Artan sayida platform ve etkilesim firsatlariyla E-ticaret platformlari gunluk yasamimizda onemli bir yer tutuyor. Geleneksel ticarette oldugu gibi, e-ticaret platformlari da hedef musterilerinin ihtiyaclarina gore olusturulmaktadir. Kitlesel kullanim icin faarkli platformlar var, ancak cesitli kullanici gruplari icin ozel platformlar da var. Turkiye’de belirli cinsiyetlere adanmis bu tur platformlar oldukca populerdir, ancak yine de kullanicilarin cogu toplu e-ticaret platformlarini tercih etmektedir. Bu projede; Bir oge satin alirken arama surecinde cinsiyetlerin farkli ihtiyaclarini anlamak icin, platformlardan bagimsiz olarak cinsiyetlerin e-ticaret kullanimi arastirildi.

User experience (UX) research has attracted increasing attention especially in the last decade as the demand for online shopping has increased by 30.7% from 2014 to 2015 in Turkey. The traditional methods including surveys/questionnaires, think-aloud procedures, and in-depth interviews have contributed greatly for understanding the problems during the use of shopping internet sites. On the other hand, the use of neuroscientific methods, such as biometrics and neurometrics, has also grabbed attention with the exciting idea of providing an objective means of understanding cognitive and affective processes during the user experience during online shopping. Despite significant/strong limitations, many researchers are interested in exploring actively its potential use in the field.

There’s a growing interest towards human–robot interaction (HRI) as an area of research within human-computer interaction (HCI). Although nowadays robotics studies provide enough knowledge on social robots in major settings, there are still a limited number of studies that investigate expectations, attitudes and behaviors towards humanoid robots in the area of HRI. This study aims to investigate the older adults’ perceptions and preferences of a humanoid robot appearance, which is planned to assist in healthcare activities. The preferences and the perceptions of a sample of 6 older adults are assessed through semi-structured in-depth interviews. By adopting a user-centered design process through the execution of techniques such as persona and user journeys, two different appearances are designed for the assessment: A cartoon-like, simplistic face with no specific gender and a more realistic feminine illustrative face. Findings support the notion that perceptions evoked in the users would depend on the human likeness of the robot’s face. However, gender stereotypes also had impact on the perception and preference of the humanoid faces. A majority of older adults preferred a female human appearance for the robot by referring both to the human likeness and to the task of healthcare. The participants were able to understand the basic facial gestures in both appearances. However, they could not achieve to interpret the intensity of emotions in the expressions. In this context, when compared, simple cartoon-like faces seemed more affective to support detailed understanding of the expressions. Besides, the findings revealed that experience with technology and culture-specific aspects could also affect the perception of robot technology.

Mobile technology is a new frontier for accessibility. Although mobile developers need solid guidelines to provide accessible experiences, there is a limited number of empirical research on mobile accessibility of different mobile platforms that work through various assistive technologies. In this context, more information is needed to understand both usage patterns and hardware/software platforms to guide decisions to meet the needs of people with disabilities who use mobile devices. This study, which is a pilot study of a long-term research, evaluates the accessibility of selected built-in and third party iOS applications in the iPhone and iPad through an extensive accessibility test with two blind users who are novice users of touchscreen mobile devices. This qualitative study is based on a multi-method approach, which consists of a background questionnaire, task observation, and a structured debriefing interview. The study also employs observation methods of data collection in order to gain better insight in mobile accessibility. The participants are demanded to execute three different tasks on each platform by using VoiceOver, which is the built-in screen reader in iOS. The participants are observed during the task executions and the “think aloud” procedure and video recording of the participants collected additional data. A short debriefing interview was also made to gain a detailed insight into the user experience. The findings reveal significant accessibility problems caused specifically by design of the graphical user interface features of the applications and limitations of the screen reader. Finally, as part of future research directions, preliminary guidelines are proposed to improve accessibility for iOS applications in both platforms.

The purpose of this study is to explore the nature of interactions that develops around social networks through two major device categories: PC and smartphones. This study specifically aims to focus on the reasons for the preference of PC and smartphones distinctively and tries to reveal the significant patterns of usage for social networking through both platforms. This quantitative research employs a survey conducted with a sample of 203 Turkish people who are using PCs and smartphones for accessing social networking sites regularly.
