ÖZETÇE Fiber olumsuzluklarının yüksek veri kapasiteli ve uzun mesafeli optik dalgaboyu bölümlü çoklamalı haberleşme sistemleri üzerindeki etkileri incelendi. Bu fiber olumsuzluklarının etkileri bilgisayar simülasyonları ile gösterildi. Haberleşme hattı üzerindeki saçılma düzenlendi. Güç, kanal aralığı, veri miktarı, saçılma, iki yükseltici arasındaki mesafe, hattaki yükseltici sayısı, toplam kanal sayısı, modülasyon türleri gibi sistem parametrelerinin fiber olumsuzlukları üzerindeki etkileri araştırıldı ve sonuçları gösterildi. 40 Gb/s veri miktarında çalışacak olan gelecek nesil haberleşme sistemleri için çözüm önerilerinde bulunduk. 1000 km toplam mesafeli 16 x 40 Gb/s veri kapasitesinde haberleşme hattı tasarlandı. Ayrıca optik fiberdeki saçılmanın ve olumsuzlukların tasarladığımız sistem üzerindeki etkileri ayrı ayrı incelendi. IV ABSTRACT The effects of fiber impairments on high-capacity long-haul optical wavelength-division multiplexed (WDM) transmission systems are examined. These fiber impairment effects are demonstrated through computer simulations. The dispersion in the transmission link is managed. The effects of system parameters such as power, channel spacing, bit-rate, dispersion, span length, number of amplifier spans, number of channels, and modulation types on the fiber nonlinearities are studied and the results are plotted. We propose some solutions for the next generation optical communication systems, which operate at 40 Gb/s. A 16 x 40 Gb/s WDM system over 1000 km transmission distance is designed. Also the impacts of optical fiber dispersion and nonlinearities on our proposed design are investigated individually. Introduction: we aimed to investigate the efficacy and side effects of bendamustine in relapsed/refractory lymphoma patients in Turkey. Material and methods: in this retrospective study, we included relapsed/refractory Hodgkin lymphoma (HL) and non-Hodgkin lymphoma (NHL) patients who underwent multiple lines of chemotherapy. The primary endpoint was to determine the objective response and toxicity. Results: ninety-nine patients with a median age of 59.8 years were included in the study. Eighty-one patients had NHL (follicular lymphoma: 10, diffuse large B- cell lymphoma: 27, mantle-cell lymphoma: 18, marginal zone lymphoma: 9, small lymphocytic lymphoma/chronic lymphocytic leukemia: 17) and 18 patients had HL. The patients had previously received a median of three lines of chemotherapy (range: 2-8) except autologous stem cell transplantation (ASCT); 19 patients (HL: 11, NHL: 8) had undergone ASCT. The objective response rate (ORR) was 74.3%, the complete response rate was 57% (= 53), and the partial response rate was 16.6% (= 19). The overall survival (OS) rate at 1 year was 74.6%. The progression-free survival (PFS) rate at 1 year was 62.5%. The most common side effects were lymphopenia, anemia and neutropenia. Side effects which were observed as grade 3 and higher levels were lymphopenia (14.1%), neutropenia (10.1%) and fatigue (7.1%). Conclusions: objective response rate of bendamustine was found to be 74.3% in relapsed/refractory HL and NHL patients. Amorf silisyum ve Kristal silisyum (a-Si/c-Si) heteroeklem güneş pilleri, yüksek performansları ve düşük maliyetlerinden dolayı fotovoltaik (PV) pazar için teknolojik bir çözümdürler. Bu teknoloji, yüksek verimliliğe sahip kristal silisyum (c-Si) teknolojisi ile düşük maliyetli hidrojen katkılı amorf silisyum (a-Si:H) teknolojisini tek yapıda kullanır.Bununla birlikte, a-Si ve c-Si arayüzündeki bant farklının etkisi bu güneş pillerinin çalışma ve tasarımında önemli bir sorun olarak karşımıza çıkmaktadır. Bu bant farkının sonucunda oluşan potansiyel bariyer, foto (ışıkla oluşan) elektrik yüklerinin toplanmasında sınırlama getirmektedir ve bunun sonucunda güneş pilinin fotovoltaik özellikleri etkilenmektedir.Bu tez çalışmasında yukarıda belirtilen probleme çözüm üretmek için, katkısız ince katmanlı basit heteroeklem (HIT) yapılarda bulunan a:Si:H(i) katmanın yerine geçmek üzere enerji bant aralığı basamaklandırılmış olan a-SixGe1-x:H katmanların a:Si:H(n) ile c:Si(p) arasında kullanan bir yapı önerilmektedir. Basamakladırılmış katmanlar sayesinde, bant farkları dereceli olarak azaltılacak ve bu yolla foto elektrik yüklerinin düşük enerji seviyesinden merdiven şeklinde yüksek enerjiye çıkmasıyla bir taraftan diğer tarafa taşınması kolaylaşmış olacaktır. Bunun sonucunda, pilden elde edilen akım ve toplam verimlilik yükselecektir.Buna ilaveten, önerilen yapının çeşitli katmanlarına ait kalınlıkları ve katkı oranlarının Afors-hetsimülasyon yazılımı ile optimizasyonu yapılarak %32.07 verimlilikte bir güneş pili tasarlanmıştır.Anahtar Kelimeler: Fotovoltaik, a-Si ince filmler, güneş pilleri, bant farkı. The amorphous silicon and crystalline silicon (a-Si/c-Si) heterojunction solar cell is the technological solution for the photovoltaic (PV) market because it performs well and has low production cost. This technology employs a high efficient c-Si cell technology and low cost thin-film a-Si:H technology in single structure.However, the influence of band offsets at the a-Si and c-Si interface is one of the crucial issues in the operation and design of these cells. The band offsets give rise to potential barriers that could impose limitations for the photocarrier collection which in turn affects the PV properties of the solar cell.In this thesis, a solution to the above-mentioned issue has been proposed by designing a structure with graded band gap layers of a-SixGe1-x:H inserted in between a-Si:H(n) and c-Si(p) to replace the a-Si:H(i) layer in a simple heterojunction with intrinsic thin layer (HIT). The graded layers help in reducing the band offsets values in a graded way which can make photocarrier transportation from one side to the other easier by making a staircase from lower energy level to higher, which in turn increases the current drawn from the cell and also the total efficiency.Furthermore, the proposed structure has been optimized using the AFORS-HET simulation software by varying the thicknesses and doping concentrations of the various layers to yield an efficiency of 32.07%.Keywords: Photovoltaics, a-Si thin films, solar cells, band offsets 72

Optik ızgaralar, ışın enerjisinin optik dalga kılavuzlarının içine veya dışına aktarılmasında kullanılan optik aygıtlardır. Enerjini transferi, dalga kılavuzunun yüzeyine yerleştirilen uygun ızgara dişleri ile gerçekleştirilir. Izgaralardan oluşan bu aktarım veya bağdaştırıcı sisteminin kritik parametreleri ızgara derinliği, ızgara periyodu, dolgu faktörü ve dalga boyudur. Fotonik sistemlerde ışığın yapıdan çıkarılarak başka bir yapıya aktarılması önemli bir problemdir ve bu aktarımdaki verimliliğin artırılması için çeşitli yöntemler önerilmiştir. Bu tez çalışmasında, geleneksel bir kuantum-kuyusu lazer yapısında farklı olarak, yeni bir yapı önerilmiştir. Yansıma ve yapıdan çıkarılan ışık, Bragg şartını sağlamak üzere farklı ızgara periyotları ve dalga boylarında analiz edilmiştir. Önerilen yapının optimizasyonunda dalga boyu ve ızgara periyotları değiştirilerek CAMFR yazılımı kullanılmıştır. Geleneksel bir ızgara tasarımına kıyasla, yapıdan çıkarılan ışığın miktarında altı kat iyileşme gözlenmiştir. Grating coupler is an optical device which transfers beam of light energy into or out of an optical waveguide. This transfer of energy is as a result of proper pitch on top of the waveguide structure. The critical parameters that contribute to the performance of grating structures includes etching depth, grating period, fill factor and wavelength. Coupling light out from the waveguide is an important issue in photonics, and different methods have been proposed to improve the efficiency of the out coupling from waveguides. In this thesis, we proposed a design of a quantum well-laser grating coupler structure different from a traditional one. Reflection and the light coupling out of the structure are analyzed with different grating periods and wavelengths to meet the Bragg conditions. The simulation of the proposed structure has been optimized using cavity modeling framework CAMFR software by varying wavelength and grating period. The efficiency of the out coupled light has been improved by a factor of six compared to a traditional grating design. 61

Bu çalışmada, malzemelerin optik sabitleri ile elipsometre parametreleri arasındaki bağıntı teorik olarak incelendi. Daha sonra, elipsometre parametreleri ve Stokes parametreleri arasındaki ilişki Jones matrisi yöntemi kullanılarak elde edildi. Elipsometre parametrelerinin yığın malzemelerin optik sabitleri ile olan ilişkisi ve ince filmlerin optik sabitleri ve kalınlığı ile olan bağıntısı matematiksel olarak ifade edildi. Ayrıca, malzemelerin optik sabitlerini teorik olarak ifade eden Lorentz, Tauc-Lorentz, Sellmeier, Cauchy, Drude ve Etkin Ortam Yaklaşım modelleri araştırıldı.Deneysel çalışmada, soğuran malzeme katkılı Si:Ni:O filmler manyetron eş-zamanlı saçtırma yöntemi ile hazırlandı. Bu filmlerdeki silisyum, nikel ve oksijen oranları XPS ve EDX yöntemiyle tespit edildi. Üretilen filmlerin kalınlıkları spektroskopik elipsometre ile ölçüldü. Bu filmlerin optik sabitleri, spektroskopik elipsometreden elde edilen parametrelerin Lorentz yöntemi ile modellenmesinden elde edildi. Buna ek olarak, plazma destekli kimyasal buhar biriktirme yöntemiyle SiO2 filmler silisyum alttaş üzerinde büyütüldü. Filmin kalınlığı ve optik özellikleri, spektroskopik elipsometre ölçümlerinin Cauchy yöntemi ile modellenmesi ile elde edildi. Tasarladığımız analizör döndürmeli elipsometre sistemi ile bu filmlere ait elipsometre parametreleri 1310 nm dalga boyu için elde edildi. In this work, the connection between optical constants of materials and ellipsometer parameters was investigated theoretically. Then, the relationship between ellipsometer parameters and Stokes parameters was obtained using Jones matrix formalism. The relation of ellipsometer parameters to optical constants of bulk materials and to optical constants and thicknesses of thin films were expressed mathematically. Furthermore, the theoretical models for optical constants, which are Lorentz, Tauc-Lorentz, Sellmeier, Cauchy, Drude and Effective Medium Approach, were studied.In the experimental part, absorbing material doped Si:Ni:O films were prepared by magnetron co-sputtering method. Silicon, nickel and oxygen compositions of the films were determined by XPS and EDX techniques. The thickness of the films was measured by spectroscopic ellipsometer. Optical constants of these films were obtained by Lorentz model using the ellipsometer parameters. In addition, SiO2 films were grown on silicon substrates using plasma enhanced chemical vapor deposition technique. The film thickness and optical constant are calculated by Cauchy model using the spectroscopic ellipsometer measurements. Ellipsometer parameters for these films are acquired using a rotating analyzer ellipsometer system designed for the wavelength of 1310 nm. Son zamanlarda, fotonik tümleşik devreler üzerinde yapılan çalışmalar yoğunlaşmıştır. Birden çok aygıtın tem bir yonga üzerinde bir araya getirilmesi ile elde edilen bu yapılarda, ışığı tel yönlü iletmesinden dolayı optik izolatörler kaçınılmaz bileşenlerdir.Bu çalışmada, silisyum ve cam üzerine oluşturulan silisyum nitrat (S3N4) ve çinko oksit (ZnO) öz tabakalar içeren dalga kılavuzları tasarlanmıştır. Bu yapılarda manyetooptik Kerr etkisi (MOKE) gösteren ince nikel (Ni) film ve ZnO:Ni kompozit malzemelerin etkilerinden yaralanarak ışığı tek yönlü ileten, fakat ters yönde soğuran dalga kılavuzları tasarlanmıştır. Ayrıca, dalga kılavuzlarında ilerleyen enine elektrik (TE) ve enine manyetik (TM) modlarının etkin indeks farkından yararlanılarak dalga kılavuzu polarizör tasarımı ve üretimi yapılmıştır. Dalga kılavuzunda ilerleyen modların davranışlarını incelemek için 1-D WAVEGUIDE ve 2-D WMM mode çözücüler kullanılmıştır. Aygıtların üretim aşamasında gerekli maskeler tasarlanmış, yapıyı oluşturan katmanlar büyütülmüş ve optik karakterizasyonları yapılmış, aygıtlar temizoda ortamında üretilerek, kurmuş olduğumuz optik kuplaj düzeneğinde test edilmişlerdir.Yapılan test çalışmalarının sonucunda, dalga kılavuzu optik polarizör yapının TE modunu ilettiği, fakat TM modunu soğurarak elediği görülmüştür. Optik izolatör dalga kılavuzlarının manyetik alan altında testlerinde, kılavuzda ilerleyen TM modu için fark görülmesi hedeflenmiş, fakat üretilen yapının katmanlarına ait parametrelerin çok sıkı kontrol edilememesinden dolayı, bu etkinin oluşacağı şartlar sağlanamamıştır.Anahtar Kelimeler: Optik izolatör, MOKE, dalga kılavuzu, polarizör Recently, there has been extensive research on the integration of photonic devices. The optical isolators, which allows light only in one direction, are indispensable components in the integration of photonic devices formed by bringing many devices on a single chip.In this thesis, waveguides containing silicon nitride (S3N4) and zinc oxide (ZnO) cores have been fabricated on silicon and glass wafers. These waveguides contain nickel (Ni) thin films or ZnO:Ni composite films exhibiting magneto-optic Kerr effect (MOKE) and the devices have been designed to utilize this effect to allow the light to propagate in one direction and to absorb the light in the reverse direction. Furthermore, waveguide polarizers, which are exploiting the difference in the effective indices of transverse electric (TE) and transverse (TM) modes, have been designed and fabricated. 1-D WAVEGUIDE and 2-D WMM mode solvers have been used to investigate the behavior of the modes propagating in the waveguides. The mask sets have been designed for the fabrication processes; the layers that constitute the structures have been grown and optically characterized; devices have been fabricated in the cleanroom and tested on the coupling experiment setup established.Waveguide polarizer devices have been tested and it shows that these devices allow light for TE modes, but they do not permit the TM mode light by attenuating it. The waveguide isolators were designed for TM mode light to observe change in light intensity under the magnetic field. An enzyme immunoassay method using the commercially available test MicroVue YKL-40 was used to measure serum YKL-40 concentration.
