Upper Mesopotamia played a key role in the Neolithic Transition in Southwest Asia through marked innovations in symbolism, technology, and diet. We present 13 ancient genomes (c. 8500 to 7500 cal BCE) from Pre-Pottery Neolithic Çayönü in the Tigris basin together with bioarchaeological and material culture data. Our findings reveal that Çayönü was a genetically diverse population, carrying mixed ancestry from western and eastern Fertile Crescent, and that the community received immigrants. Our results further suggest that the community was organized along biological family lines. We document bodily interventions such as head shaping and cauterization among the individuals examined, reflecting Çayönü’s cultural ingenuity. Last, we identify Upper Mesopotamia as the likely source of eastern gene flow into Neolithic Anatolia, in line with material culture evidence. We hypothesize that Upper Mesopotamia’s cultural dynamism during the Neolithic Transition was the product not only of its fertile lands but also of its interregional demographic connections.

In this study, 182 male animals from 12 native sheep breeds, as well as Karacabey Merino and Karagül breeds of Anatolia, wild sheep AnatolianMouflon (Ovis gmelinii anatolica) were used as the study material. Based on SRY and SRYM18 regions on the Y-chromosome, haplotypes of thepopulations were analyzed using DNA sequence analyses. The SRY region, A-oY1 allele was observed in all of the individuals studied. On the other hand,four different alleles corresponding to four Y-chromosome haplotypes were detected at the SRYM18 microsatellite region. Among native Anatolianbreeds (n143), H6 haplotype (80.41%), H4 haplotype (9.09%), H8 haplotype (8.40%) and H12 haplotype (2.1%) were identified. H6 haplotype wasobserved in all 16 individuals of Ovis gmelinii anatolica. Pairwise FST values based on haplotype frequencies were calculated for domestic sheep, andthe highest FST value was observed between Karagül and Kıvırcık along with Karagül and Ovis gmelinii anatolica with pairwise FST value of 0.43202(P0.01). Y chromosome polymorphism of sheep from Turkey were examined comparatively with the accumulated data in the literature. Out of sevenhaplotypes (H4, H5, H6, H7, H8, H12, H19) observed in Europe and Asia, 4 haplotypes (H4, H6, H8 and H12) were observed in Anatolia. H12 was aprivate haplotype of Sakız, H6 seems to be the predominant haplotype of domestic sheep (79.51%) as well as being the only haplotype observed inOvis gmelini anatolica. H4 haplotype seemed to be associated with fat tailed sheep migrating to Turkey, entering from south east of Turkey, which maybe related with the arrival of nomadic Turks., Bu çalışmada, Anadolu’dan yerli evcil koyun (Ovis aries) ırklarından 13 ırk ile kökeni Avrupa’dan olan Bandırma Merinosu koyun ırkı ve Anadolu YabanKoyunu (Ovis gmelinii anatolica)’na ait olmak üzere toplam 182 erkek birey materyal olarak kullanılmıştır. Y kromozomunda bulunan SRY 5’promotorbölgesi ve Y kromozomuna özel bir mikrosatellit olan SRYM18 bölgeleri DNA dizi analizi yöntemleriyle incelenmiştir. SRY bölgesine ait analizlerde tümbireylerde SNP A-oY1 alleline rastlanmıştır. SRYM18 mikrosatellit bölgesinde ise 4 farklı allel görülmüş ve toplamda 4 farklı babasal soy, haplotip, tespitedilmiştir. Yerli Anadolu ırklarında (n143), H6 haplotipi (%80.41), H4 haplotipi (%9.09), H8 haplotipi (%8.40) ve H12 haplotipi (%2.1) belirlenmiştir.Ovis gmelinii anatolica’nın 16 bireyinde de sadece H6 haplotipi gözlenmiştir. Evcil koyunlar için haplotip frekanslarına dayalı FST değerleri hesaplanmışve en yüksek FST değeri Karagül-Kıvırcık ve Karagül-Ovis gmelinii anatolica arasında FST değeri 0.43202 (P0.01) gözlenmiştir. Türkiye koyunlarının Ykromozomu polimorfizmi literatürdeki birikmiş verilerle karşılaştırmalı olarak incelenmiştir. Avrupa ve Asya’da gözlenen yedi haplotipten (H4, H5,H6, H7, H8, H12, H19) dördü Anadolu’da (H4, H6, H8 ve H12) gözlenmiştir. H12, Sakız’ın özel bir haplotipi, H6 ise evcil koyunların baskın haplotipi(%79.51) ve Ovis gmelini anatolica’ nın tek haplotipi olarak görülmektedir. H4 haplotipinin Türkiye’ye güneydoğudan girmiş olabileceği düşünülenyağlı kuyruklu koyunla ilişkili olduğu görülmüştür ve bu koyunların göçebe Türklerin gelişi ile ilişkili olabileceği düşünülmektedir.

Sheep domestication started in Southeast Anatolia about 10 000 years before common era (BCE) and spread to from there to other regions by demic diffusion of managed/domesticated sheep, cultural diffusion or both. To contribute to the understanding of the process of sheep domestication and spread within Anatolia, ancient sheep bones were collected from three archaeological sites; Barcın Höyük (Bursa, 6500-2300 BCE), Tepecik Çiftlik Höyük (Niğde, 6850- 5800 BCE) and Yeşilova Höyük (İzmir, 6252-5800 BCE). Ancient DNA was extracted from these samples and 144 bp long fragment of mitochondrial DNA control region was sequenced. Genetic continuity between sheep populations from lower levels of Barcın (Barcın1,6500-6100 BCE)- upper levels of Barcın (Barcın2, 3800-2300 BCE), Tepecik Çiftlik - Barcın 1 and Tepecik Çiftlik - Yeşilova Höyük was tested assuming exponential growth, mutation rate range of 10-8 to 10-6 and effective population size range between 50 to 1500. Genetic continuity between Barcın 1-2 and Tepecik Çiftlik - Barcın1 could not be rejected. However, continuity was rejected for Tepecik Çiftlik - Yeşilova for low mutations rates and/or low population sizes. Our preliminary results suggest that West-central Anatolian sheep originates from another gene pool than the Central and North-west Anatolian sheep., Koyun evcilleştirmesi, Güneydoğu Anadolu'da ortak dönemden (M.Ö.) yaklaşık 10.000 yıl önce başlamış ve oradan, yönetilen / evcilleştirilmiş koyunların demik difüzyonu, kültürel yayılma veya her ikisi ile diğer bölgelere yayılmıştır. Koyunların evcilleştirilmesi ve Anadolu'ya yayılması sürecinin anlaşılmasına katkıda bulunmak için, üç arkeolojik alandan eski koyun kemikleri toplandı; Barcın Höyük (Bursa, MÖ 6500-2300), Tepecik Çiftlik Höyük (Niğde, MÖ 6850- 5800) ve Yeşilova Höyük (İzmir, MÖ 6252-5800). Bu örneklerden antik DNA çıkarıldı ve 144 bp uzunluğundaki mitokondriyal DNA kontrol bölgesi fragmanı sıralandı. Barcın'ın alt seviyelerinden (Barcın1,6500-6100 BCE) - Barcın'ın üst seviyelerinden (Barcın2, 3800-2300 BCE) koyun popülasyonları arasında genetik süreklilik, Tepecik Çiftlik - Barcın 1 ve Tepecik Çiftlik - Yeşilova Höyük, üstel büyüme, 10-8 ila 10-6 mutasyon oranı aralığı ve 50 ila 1500 arasında etkili popülasyon büyüklüğü aralığı varsayılarak test edildi. Barcın 1-2 ve Tepecik Çiftlik - Barcın1 arasında genetik süreklilik reddedilemez. Ancak düşük mutasyon oranları ve / veya düşük popülasyon büyüklükleri nedeniyle Tepecik Çiftlik - Yeşilova için süreklilik reddedildi. İlk sonuçlarımız, Batı-Orta Anadolu koyunlarının, Orta ve Kuzey-Batı Anadolu koyunlarından farklı bir gen havuzundan kaynaklandığını göstermektedir. düşük mutasyon oranları ve / veya düşük popülasyon büyüklükleri nedeniyle Tepecik Çiftlik - Yeşilova için süreklilik reddedildi. The aim of this study was to determine the genetic diversity of 4 native Turkish cattle breeds, based on the growth hormone (GH), prolactin (PRL), and diacylglycerol acyltransferase (DGAT1) genes. In order to study the polymorphisms in these genes, the polymerase chain reaction and restriction fragment length polymorphism (PCR-RFLP) method was performed. A 329-bp fragment and a 223-bp fragment of GH, a 156-bp fragment of PRL, and a 411-bp fragment of DGAT1, thus 4 loci of 3 genes, were amplified via PCR. These fragments were then restricted with the enzymes MspI, Alu1, RsaI, and CfrI, respectively. In this study, 2 types of alleles, ( + ) and ( - ) for the GH-MspI, L and V for the GH-Alu1, A and B for the PRL, and K and A for the DGAT1 loci, were observed. The results of the present study will contribute to the polymorphism data on the world's cattle breeds. Furthermore, the above-mentioned allele frequencies of Turkish native breeds are evaluated in relation to their genetic relatedness, and to infer their milk production properties on the basis of the available literature. In turn, these results can be utilized for future breeding programs of dairy cattle in Turkey.

Bu çalışmanın amacı, scanning elektron mikroskobu ile self-etch adezivlerin (Clearfil SE Bond; ABF Bond; Tyrian SPE; Prompt L Pop) dentine penetrasyon özelliklerinin ve hibrit tabakası oluşumlarının iki basamaklı bir total-etch sistemi (Single Bond) ile karşılaştırılmasıdır. 15 adet çürüksüz üçüncü büyük azı dişinin oklüzal minesi düşük devirli elmas disk (Isomet) ile kaldırıldı, oklüzal dentin yüzeyindeki smear tabakası 600 gritlik silisyum karbit (SiC) zımpara ile standardize edildi. Dentin bonding sistemleri üretici firmaların talimatları doğrultusunda dentin yüzeylerine uygulandı ve oklüzal yüzey 3mm yüksekliğinde kompozit ile restore edildi. Bağlanma yüzeyine dik olacak şekilde ikiye kesilen dişler, 24 saat % 10'luk nötral formolde bekletildi. Epoksi rezin içerisine gömülen örnekler seri SiC zımpara ve cila pastası ile cilalandıktan sonra argon etching yapıldı. Altın kaplanan örnekler scanning elektron mikroskobu ile incelendi. Clearfil SE Bond ile 0.5 um kalınlığında hibrit tabakası oluşumu saptanırken, ABF Bond sistemlerinin kullanıldığı örneklerde belirgin bir hibrit tabakası gözlemlenemedi, ancak dentin ve adeziv rezin arasında herhangi bir aralık da tespit edilmedi. Prompt L-Pop ile yaklaşık 2pm kalınlığında hibrit tabakası ve rezin uzantıları, Tyrian SPE, One Step Plus ve Single Bond ile belirgin ve keskin sınırlı 3um kalınlığında hibrit tabakası ile rezin uzantıları saptandı. Yüksek pH'lı zayıf self-etch adezivlerin smear tabakası ve yüzeyel dentine penetrasyonlan ve hibrit tabakası oluşumları sınırlı iken, düşük pH'lı agresif self-etch adezivlerin penetrasyon derinliği ve hibrit tabakası kalınlığının total-etch sistemleri ile benzerlik gösterdiği saptandı. The purpose of this study was to compare the effectiveness of self-etching systems (Clearfil SE Bond, ABF Bond, Tyrian SPE, Prompt L Pop) in penetrating dentin and the formation of the hybrit layers with a total-etch system (Single Bond). The occlusal enamel of third molars was removed using a low-speed saw, the smear layer on the occlusal dentin was standardized using 600 grit silisium carbide (SiC) paper. Dentin bonding systems uıere applied according to the manufacturer's instructions and composite was built up in 3 mm height. Bonded teeth were sectioned longitudinally to the bonded surface, stored 24 hours in 10 % neutral formalin. The specimens were embedded in epoxy resin, polished using senal SiC paper and polishing paste and then subjected to argon ion etching. The specimens were gold sputter coated and examined with a scanning electron microscope. Clearfil SE Bond created a O.Bum thick hybrid layer, uıith ABF Bond a definite hybrid layer could not be observed, however there was also no gap formation between dentin and bonding resin. Prompt L Pop created hybrid layers around 2 um thick with resin tag formation. Tyrian SPE and Single Bond shouıed hybrid layers around 3 um thick with resin tag formation. The ability to penetrate the smear layer and subsurface dentin of the mild self-etch adhesive systems with high pH is limited uıhereas the aggressive self-etch adhesive systems with low pH can solubilize smear layers and smear plugs and form hybrid layers with a thickness similar to total-etch systems.

THE THICKNESS OF A FLOWABLE COMPOSITE LINING MATERIAL AND CAVITY CONFIGURATION FACTOR (C FACTOR) IN RELATION TO THE TENSILE BOND STRENGTHSÖzetKompozit materyallerin polimerizasyonları sırasında oluşabilecek polimerizasyon büzülme stresleri, ara rezin kompozit (bonding) materyaller ve kavite şeklinin değiştirilmesi ile azaltılabilir. Bu çalışmada ara rezin kompozit materyal kalınlığı ve gerilim direnci arasındaki ilişki olasılığı araştırılmış ve ayrıca kavite şekli faktörü de değerlendirilmiştir. Molar dişlerin aproksimal yüzlerinde iki değişik derinlikte açılan Black II kaviteler, iki farklı teknikle restore edilmiş ve gerilim stresleri karşısında gingival duvarda bağlanma dayanımları değerlendirilmiştir. İstatistiksel analizler sonucunda kavite şekli faktörünün bağlanma direncine etkisi olmadığı ve ara rezin örtücü materyal kalınlığının bağlanma dayanımı ile ilişkisi olmadığı gözlenmiştir. Bu sonuçların alınmasında, ara rezin kavite örtücü materyalin elastik bariyer olarak etkisi olduğu sanılmaktadır. SEM sonuçlarına göre en fazla kırılmanın ara rezin kavite örtücü materyal içinde olmasının ise materyalin aşırı kalınlıkta kullanımından kaçınılması gerektiği sonucunu vermektedir.Anahtar sözcükler: Ara rezin kompozit materyaller, kavite şekli faktörü, gerilim stresiAbstractThe degree of stress development during the setting of the composite material can be controlled to some extent, by the flowable composite lining materials and by the cavity design. The purpose of the present work was to investigate a possible relationship between the thickness of a resin lining material and tensile bond strengths. Cavity configuration factor (C Factor) was also evaluated. Class II slot cavity praparations with two different cavity configurations were prepared on the proximal surfaces of caries free third molar teeth and restored with two different filling techniques. The thickness of lining cement was measured and the samples were tested under tensile stress loading. No relation was found between the thickness of lining material and tensile bond strengths. No statistical significant difference was also found between the groups due to cavity configuration and filling techniques (P>0.05). The elasticity of the resin lining material had an effect to get these results.Key words: Flowable composite resins, C Factor, tensile bond strengths

Fahr hastalığı; bazal ganglionlar, serebellar dentat nükleus ve beyaz cevherde bilateral ve hemen daima simetrik olarak kalsiyum ve diğer minerallerin depolandığı nadir bir hastalıktır. Klinik bulgular sıklıkla parkinsonizm, distoni, tremor, kore, ataksiye ek olarak demans ve duygu durum bozukluklarıdır. Fahr sendromu paratiroid bozukluklar başta olmak üzere değişik metabolik bozukluklara ve beraberinde sistemik hastalıklara bağlı olarak ortaya çıkabilir. Bu makalede, unutkanlık ve epilepsi yakınmaları ile hastanemize başvuran, ayırıcı tanıda sistemik ve metabolik hastalıklar saptanan ve kraniyal bilgisayarlı tomografi incelemesinde her iki bazal ganglionlarda, talamuslarda, periventriküler beyaz cevherde, sentrum semiovalede ve serebellumda çok sayıda kalsifiye alanlar izlenen 66 ve 68 yaşındaki bayan hastalar sunulmuştur.
