Background: Older adults, the prevalence of chronic diseases increase, depending on the physiological and psychological changes that occur with aging processes of maintenance issues in pandemic seems to be more important. Objectives: This study aims to examine the attitudes of senior nursing students regarding ageism as well as their views of the problems the elderly faced during the COVID-19 pandemic. Methods: The present study is a mixed study with quantitative and qualitative dimensions and it was conducted in a nursing school in X. The quantitative part of the research was conducted with 75 senior students, 13 of whom were also included in the qualitative part of the study. Quantitative data were collected using the Introductory Information Form and the Ageism Attitude Scale and qualitative data using a semi-structured interview form. Descriptive statistics, independent samples t-test, one-way analysis Mann–Whitney U, and Kruskal–Wallis tests and content analysis were used. Results: It was found that the students’ attitudes toward the elderly were positive and their views of the elderly during the pandemic were distributed among the main themes of Vulnerable, Emotional Shake, Culture, and Iceberg. Conclusion: it is believed that it is important to ensure that health team members who will work with the older adults should be provided with an environment wherein they can provide care to the older adults in the first years of their education., Giriş: Yaşlı bireylerin, kronik hastalık prevalansının artması, yaşlanma ile ortaya çıkan fizyolojik ve psikososyal değişikliklere bağlı olarak bakım sorunlarının pandemi sürecinde daha da önemli olduğu görülmektedir. Amaç: Bu çalışmanın amacı son sınıf hemşirelik öğrencilerinin yaşlı ayrımcılığına ilişkin tutumları ve Covid-19 pandemi sürecinde yaşlı bireylerin yaşadıkları sorunlara ilişkin görüşlerini incelemektir. Yöntem: Bu çalışma nicel ve nitel boyutları olan karma bir çalışmadır ve Türkiye'deki bir sağlık bilimleri fakültesinin hemşirelik bölümünde yürütülmüştür. Araştırmanın nicel bölümünü 75 son sınıf öğrencisi, nitel bölümünü ise 13 öğrenci oluşturmuştur. Nicel veriler; Tanımlayıcı Bilgi Formu ve Yaşlı Ayrımcılığı Tutum Ölçeği (YATÖ) ile, nitel veriler ise yarı yapılandırılmış görüşme formu kullanılarak toplanmıştır. Nicel verilerin değerlendirilmesinde tanımlayıcı istatistikler, independent sample t test, One Way Anova, Mann-Whitney U ve Kruskal Wallis testleri; nitel verilerin değerlendirilmesinde de içerik analizi yöntemi kullanılmıştır. Araştırmanın uygulanabilmesi için, etik kurul izni ve katılımcı onamı alınmıştır. Bulgular: Araştırmada öğrencilerin yaş ortalaması 22.16±0.91 olup %76.0’sının kadın olduğu, %85.3’ünün pandemi sürecinde yaşlı biri ile aynı evde yaşadığı, %96’sının mesleki eğitimleri sürecinde yaşlı bireye hemşirelik bakımı verdiği ve %18.7’sinin pandemi sürecinden yaşlı bireye yardım ettiği saptanmıştır. Araştırmada öğrencilerin yaşlı bireylere yönelik tutumlarının olumlu olduğu ve öğrencilerin pandemi sürecinde yaşlılara ilişkin görüşlerinin savunmasızlık, duygusal sarsıntı, kültür ve buzdağı ana temaları çerçevesinde dağılım gösterdiği belirlenmiştir. Sonuç: Bu çalışmada, son sınıf hemşirelik öğrencilerinin yaşlı bireylere yönelik tutumlarının olumlu olduğu ve COVID-19 pandemisinin yaşlı bireylerin sağlığı üzerindeki etkilerini bütüncül bakış açısıyla ele alabildikleri belirlenmiştir. Buna göre öğrencilerin hemşirelik eğitim sürecinde yaşlılara bakım verme fırsatının artırılması ve hemşirelik müfredatında yaşlı kavramına daha çok yer verilmesi önerilir.

Objective: To determine the unmet healthcare needs based on parental notification in children between the ages of 6-12 during the pandemic process and the reasons for not meeting the healthcare services.Material and Methods: The type of the research is descriptive. Parents who live in different regions of Turkey and have children between the ages of 6-12 formed the research population. In the study, 327 individuals were reached and the power of the research was calculated as 80.8% at 0.2 effectiveness and at 95% confidence level. Participants were reached using the snowball sampling method, data were collected via a link sent to their smart mobile phones through their social media accounts. Before starting the research, permission from the Ministry of Health and ethics committee permission from Kırşehir Ahi Evran University was obtained.Results: In 92.4% of the families in the study, at least one child lives whose need for at least one health service is not met. It was determined that individuals had inability to prescribe a necessary drug (92.4%), had unmet healthcare needs in dentistry (31.2%), urgent situations (26.3%), eye-related problems (16.2%), mental health (12.8%), preventive healthcare (11.9%) and ear-related problems (6.1%). The most common reason for unmet healthcare needs in the study was fear of COVID-19 transmission (89.9%), which is below the acceptability (n=374).Conclusion and recommendations: Unmet need for healthcare is quite common in children aged 6-12, and the most common reason for this is the acceptability of healthcare services. It is recommended that public health nurses should conduct studies for unmet healthcare needs under pandemic conditions., Amaç: Bu araştırmanın amacı, pandemi sürecinde 6-12 yaş arası çocuklarda ebeveyn bildirimine dayalı karşılanmamış sağlık hizmeti gereksinimlerini ve sağlık hizmetlerinin karşılanmama nedenlerini belirlemektir.Gereç ve Yöntem: Araştırma tanımlayıcı tiptedir. Araştırmanın evrenini, Türkiye’nin farklı bölgelerinde yaşayan ve 6-12 yaş arası çocuğu olan ebeveynler oluşturmuştur. Araştırma kapsamında 327 bireye ulaşılmış olup araştırmanın gücü, bilgisayar ortamında 0.2 etki büyüklüğü ve %95 güven düzeyinde %80.8 olarak hesaplanmıştır. Katılımcılara kartopu örnekleme yöntemiyle ulaşılmış, veriler sosyal medya hesapları üzerinden akıllı cep telefonlarına gönderilen link yoluyla toplanmıştır. Araştırmaya başlamadan önce Sağlık Bakanlığı’ndan kurul izni, Kırşehir Ahi Evran Üniversitesi’nden etik kurul izni alınmıştır.Bulgular: Araştırmada ailelerin %92.4’ünde, en az bir sağlık hizmeti gereksinimi karşılanmamış olan en az bir çocuk yaşamaktadır. Araştırmada bireylerin sırasıyla; gerekli olan bir ilacı reçete ettirememe (%92.4), diş (%31.2), acil durumlar (%26.3), göz (%16.2), ruh sağlığı desteği (%12.8), koruyucu sağlık gereksinimi (%11.9) ve kulak (%6.1) ile ilgili karşılanmamış sağlık hizmeti gereksinimi olduğu belirlenmiştir. Araştırmada karşılanmamış sağlık hizmeti gereksiniminin en sık karşılaşılan nedeni; kabul edilebilirlik (n=374) ve altında yer alan COVID-19 bulaşma korkusudur (%89.9).Sonuç ve Öneriler: Araştırmanın sonuçlarına göre; 6-12 yaş arası çocuklarda karşılanmamış sağlık hizmeti gereksinimi oldukça yaygın olup bunun en sık görülen nedeninin sağlık hizmetinin kabul edilebilirliği ile ilgili olduğu belirlenmiştir. Bu sonuçlar doğrultusunda; halk sağlığı hemşirelerinin pandemi koşullarında karşılanmamış sağlık hizmeti gereksinimlerine yönelik çalışmalar yapması önerilir.

This study aimed to determine the views of individuals with mental disorders on the experience of social media. This was a qualitative study conducted using the content analysis method. Using purposive sampling, 12 individuals with mental disorders were selected and interviewed. Data were collected using semi-structured interviews and were analyzed using the content analysis method. Four main themes and 10 subthemes were identified. The themes included the window opening to the world (source of information, facilitating life), from invisibility to visibility (feeling good, liberation and socialization), negative experiences (feeling lost, envy, and privacy), and the rejection of society (escape and stigmatization). Individuals with mental disorders stated that social media had both positive as well as negative effects on their lives. The results of the study highlight the various aspects of social media use and its effects on individuals with mental disorders. These results can be used in planning and implementing mental health services for individuals with mental disorders. ACCESSIBLE SUMMARY: What is known about the subject? Aim: This study aims to investigate the attitudes of Turkish nursing students toward LGBT individuals and the influencing factors. Methods: This is a cross-sectional study. Three hundred and forty-eight nursing students from a public university in Turkey participated in this study. The data were collected using a Descriptive Information Form, Attitudes toward Lesbians and Gay Men (ATLG) Scale, Empathic Tendency Scale, and Stigmatization Scale. Amaç: Bu çalışma, yaşlılarda kullanılan farmakolojik olmayan uygulamalar ve bu uygulamaların hangi semptomlar üzerinde kullanıldığını belirlemek amacıyla yapılmıştır. Gereç ve Yöntem: Araştırma tanımlayıcı tipte yapılmıştır. Veri toplama aşamasında; Yükseköğretim Kurulu Ulusal Tez Merkezi Veri Tabanı’na “geriatri”, “müzik”, “refleksoloji”, “akupres”, “masaj”, “aromaterapi” “tamamlayıcı”, “alternatif tedaviler” anahtar kelimeleri yazılarak belirlenen tezler araştırma kapsamına alınmıştır. Türkiye’de yaşlılarda farmakolojik olmayan uygulamalara ve uygulanan semptomların etkisine yönelik toplam 33 teze ulaşılmıştır. Yedi tezin tam metnine ulaşılamadığı için kapsam dışı bırakılmış ve toplam 26 tez değerlendirilmiştir. Bulgular: Bu çalışmada incelenen tezlerin çoğunluğu hemşirelik alanında yürütülmüştür. Farmakolojik olmayan yöntemler ile ilgili tezlerin; %53.8’i doktora, %46.2’si yüksek lisans tezidir. Farmakolojik olmayan uygulamaların yaşlılarda; anksiyete, uyku ve yaşam kalitesi, ağrı, yalnızlık, yorgunluk, depresyon ve konstipasyon üzerine olumlu etkisinin olduğu belirlenmiştir. Sonuç: Yaşlılara uygulanan farmakolojik olmayan yöntemlerin birçok semptomun yönetiminde etkili olduğu görülmektedir. Sonuç olarak, alana daha fazla kanıt sağlayacak multidisipliner ve randomize kontrollü çalışmaların yapılması önerilmektedir. This study was conducted to determine the nonpharmacological practices used in the elderly and on which symptoms these practices were used. Material and Methods: This research was carried out as a descriptive study. During data collection; theses determined by using keywords “geriatrics”, “music”, “reflexology”, “acupressure”, “massage”, “aromatherapy” “complementary”, “alternative treatments” on the National Thesis Center of the Higher Education Institution database were included in the study. In Turkey, a total of 33 theses on non-pharmacological practices and effects of symptoms in the elderly were reached. The full text of seven theses could not be reached and was excluded. A total of 26 theses were evaluated in the study. Since the full text of the seven theses could not be reached, it was excluded and a total of 26 theses were evaluated. Results: Most of the theses examined in this study were conducted in the field of nursing. 53.8% of the non-pharmacological theses were PhD theses and 46.2% of them were master's theses. It was determined that non-pharmacological practices had positive effects on anxiety, sleep and quality of life, pain, loneliness, fatigue, depression and constipation in the elderly. Conclusion: Non-pharmacological practices applied to the elderly seem to be effective in management of many symptoms. In conclusion, multidisciplinary and randomized controlled trials are recommended to provide more evidence to the field.

This is a predictive study with a descriptive method and a relational screening model and it was aimed to examine some psychological variables that predict internet addiction. The sample was formed by using the proportional cluster sampling based on stratum weight of the schools. The study was conducted with a total of 521 students. Introductory Information Form, Symptom Check List (SCL-90-R) and Internet Addiction Scale were used. It was found that Cronbach’s Alpha coefficient of SCL-90-R scale was 0.97 and Cronbach’s Alpha coefficient of the addiction scale was 0.92. The data were assessed by using number, percentage, chi-square, Kruskal-Wallis, Man Whitney U, spearman’s correlation and regression analysis. Ethics committee approval and verbal consent were obtained. The average score of the students' general psychological symptom index (GSI) was found to be 1.96 ± 0.63 and 5.3% of the students were addicted to internet. There are statistically significant differences between students' both internet addiction scale scores and Symptom Check List (SCL-90-R) scores and some variables (gender, smoking). It was determined that there was a difference between internet use durations and internet addiction levels and a significant and positive interaction between psychological symptoms and internet addiction. This study shows that the most important predictor of addiction is psychoticism from psychological symptoms. These results are considered to be likely helpful for clinicians and researchers in stages of determining, preventing and treating risk groups.

Verilerin değerlendirilmesinde sayı, yüzde dağılımı, Mann Whitney-U ve Kruskal Wallis testleri kullanılmıştır. Bulgular: Araştırmaya katılan öğrencilerin yaş ortalaması 16.37±1.05 ve % 49.6’sı kızdır. Öğrencilerin % 90.2’sinin anne ve babası birlikte yaşamaktadır. Öğrencilerin % 21.7’si daha önce şiddete maruz kaldığını belirtmişlerdir. Öğrencilerin şiddet eğilim düzeyi puan ortalaması 43.95±12.49’dur. Öğrencilerin % 48.9’unun şiddet eğilim düzeyinin fazla, % 37.5’inin az ve sadece % 3’ünün çok az olduğu tespit edilmiştir. Erkek öğrencilerin ve şiddete maruz kalanların şiddet eğilim düzeyi daha yüksek bulunurken (p0.05). Amaç:Çalışmada, üniversite kız öğrencilerinin beden algısı, benlik saygısı, yemetutumları ve beden kitle indeksi ile ilişkisinindeğerlendirilmesi amaçlanmıştır. Yöntem: EvreniNevşehir Hacı Bektaş Veli Üniversitesi Hemşirelik bölümü kız öğrencilerioluşturmuş (N=324), 181 kişi ile tamamlanmıştır. Öğrencilere Tanıtıcı BilgiFormu, Yeme Tutumu Testi, Beden Algısı Ölçeği, Benlik Saygısı Ölçeğiuygulanmıştır. Bulgular: Bedenininormal algılayan öğrencilerde yeme bozukluğu riski %14.3 iken aşırı kilolualgılayan öğrencilerde bu risk %83.3’e çıkmaktadır. Öğrencilerin beden algısı ile benlik saygısı toplam puanlarıarasında pozitif yönde güçlü bir ilişki saptanmıştır. Çalışmada öğrencilerin%24.3’ünde yeme bozukluğu riski, %30.9’unda düşük beden algısı olduğu,%10.5’inde ise düşük benlik saygısı olduğu saptanmıştır. Methods: The population consisted of femalestudents (N=324) studying at Nevşehir Hacı Bektaş Veli University, Departmentof Nursing and the study was completed with 181 individuals. Information Form,Eating Attitude Test, Body Image Scale, and Self-Esteem Scale were applied tostudents. Results: While risk of eating disorder was 14.3% for students whoperceived their bodies normal, this risk raised up to 83.3% in the students whoperceived their bodies overweight. A positive strong correlation was determinedbetween body image and self- esteem total scores of students. It was observedthat 24.3% of the students had eating disorder risk, 30.9% had low body image,and 10.5% had low self-esteem. Kesitsel bölüme ait veriler; 21 Mart - 25 Mayıs 2016, deneysel bölüme ait veriler; 30 Mayıs – 30 Kasım 2016 tarihleri arasında toplanmıştır. Evreni; Nevşehir ili merkezi sosyoekonomik düzeyi düşük olan altı ilkokulda 2015-2016 eğitim-öğretim yılı bahar döneminde öğrenim gören toplam 2122 öğrenci oluşturmuştur. Örneklem seçiminde basit rastgele iki okul seçilmesine karar verilmiştir. Her iki okulda öğrenim gören toplam 805 öğrenciye ulaşılması hedeflenmiştir. Veri toplama tarihinde toplam 663 (örneklemin % 82'si) öğrenciye ulaşılmıştır. Tarama sonucunda 663 öğrenciden 38'inde (%5.7) E.vermicularis saptanmıştır. Araştırmada deney ve kontrol gruplarının atanmasında kura çekilmiştir (Deney: 20 Kontrol:18). Veriler; Tanımlayıcı Bilgi Formu, Çocuk İzlem Formu, Annelerin ve Çocukların Kıl Kurdu Konusunda Bilgilerini ve Uygulamalarını Değerlendirme Formları kullanılarak toplanmıştır. Yöntem: Çalışmanın evrenini Nevşehir Hacı Bektaş Veli Üniversitesi Hemşirelik bölümü kız öğrencileri oluşturmuş (N=324) ve çalışma 181 kişi ile tamamlanmıştır. Öğrencilere Tanıtıcı Bilgi Formu, Yeme Tutumu Testi, Beden Algısı Ölçeği, Benlik Saygısı Ölçeği uygulanmış ve bireylerin beyanlarına göre alınan boy ve ağırlık bilgileri ile Beden Kitle İndeksleri hesaplanmıştır. Bulgular: Bedenini normal algılayan öğrencilerde yeme bozukluğu %14.3 iken aşırı kilolu algılayan öğrencilerde bu risk %83.3’e çıkmaktadır. Çalışmada öğrencilerin %24.3’ünde yeme bozukluğu, %30.9’unda düşük beden algısı olduğu, %10.5’inde ise düşük benlik saygısı olduğu saptanmıştır. Introductionand Objective: To meet water needs of families, it is important to know the kind ofwater they use, their usage reasons and storage conditions, to raise awareness ofthe community and individuals about the water usage habits in terms of directingwater policy. So, this research was planned to determine the water consumptionhabits of families.Materialand Method: The universeconsisted of the families living in seven districts in the center of the AvanosDistrict, Nevşehir and the sample was 126 voluntary families. The data werecollected with the face-to-faceinterviews using a 20-question questionnaire created in the light of theliterature and descriptive statistics (number, percentage distribution) andchi-square analysis were used in the evaluation.. The research was conducted withnecessary permissions.Findings: 63.4% of the familiespreferred bottled water to drink. The reasons are its suitibility for patients(55.8%), children (51.8%) elderly people(50%), and its quality (54.8%), naturality (50%), cleannes (56.9%) and healtiness(56.9%). 89.1% of those using bottled water used plastic bottles. Besides,64.1% and 26.2% found tap water lime and expensive respectively. 32.7% werefound to obtain information about the water from commercials, and education andincome status did not affect their water consumption habits (p> 0.05).Conclusion: In line with these findings,it is proposed that public health professionals should lead families to obtaininformation about water consumption habits from related official institutionsand organizations, and commercials affecting people should direct them towards thecreation of a conscious society, and incentive activities should be promoted.IntroductionWater is directly related to all internal reactions of livingthings, and the conversion of foodstuffsand their residues into solution, the disposal of them after being used inbodies depends on water. Besides these, the regulation of the pH balance of the body, thetransport of nutrients to the tissues and cells, the occurence of metabolicreactions in the cells in the aquatic environment, the vast majority of the hormones and secretions consisting ofwater and the regulation of heat in the body all reveal the importance of waterin human life. Water loss in the human body causes negative effects such asthirst, the decline in physical activity, the deterioration of bodytemperature, headaches, fatigue, trembling, fainting and loss of consciousness(2). The fulfillment of the cell's vital activities and body functions ispossible with the protection of the body's water balance(1).Despite the fact that every living creature has right to access to clean waterfor free as one of the most essential parts of life, the uncontrollableconsumption of water, environmental pollution and industrialization, access toclean water resources are rapidly diminishing, It is not possible to protectthe bacteriological standards of waters and ensure the health of the people ina community. In many countries in theworld, bacteriological pollution-related diseases cause major outbreaks andloss of life. Among the causes of infant deaths, water borne diseases also playan important role (3). Each year, 250 million people are suffering from waterborne epidemics and about 10 million people are losing their lives (4,5). Forthis reason, the inability of people to meet their water needs adequately andsafely is becoming an important public health problem. Water, which is such aprecious asset for the existence and development of life, is very common onearth. However, safe drinking water for people is not available everywhere.Water resources are exposed to extreme chemical and radioactive pollution. It is obvious that the use of thousands of lethalchemicals and mining activities contaminate drinking water and irrigation waterresources chemically, radioactively and biologically as well as domesticwastes, industrial wastes and chemicals used as agricultural fertilizers. Wateris the most important source of life in plants, animals and human life.Whatever the cause is, water's exposureto pollution is an undeniable fact that threatens the health of all livingbeings that need water. (3) Water pollution is a major worldwide problem, and 7million people die from water borne diseases per year. Water related problemsaffect the least developed countries most. 34% of the total population of developingcountries is under moderate or severe water stress.It has been determined that two-thirds of low-income countries will facemoderate or severe water stress in 2025 and other low-income countries that arenot under stress in terms of consumption will face a crisis due to the absenceof institutional and technological capacities in pollution and in the use ofwater resources. Worldwide, theproportion of the population accessing healthy water to the total population is82%. This rate is 99% in industrialized countries, 66% in developing countries,38% in Africa, 63% in Asia and the Pacific, 77% in Latin America and Caribbean,77% in North Africa and the Middle East and 93%. 1.4 billion people(approximately 20% of the world's population) lack sufficient drinking waterand 2.3 billion people long for healthy water (6). This reality has increasedthe value of water, changed in consumers' water consumption habits and played amajor role in their preference to use bottled water because they consider it tobe cleaner and more reliable as drinking water. In Turkey, the average annualconsumption of bottled water per capita is an average of 126 liters in 2009,and 128 liters in 2010. Considering that annual per capita consumption is 189liters in Italy, 165 liters in Germany and 123 liters in Spain, the consumptionof bottled water in Turkey seems to be reaching the consumption levels in theEuropean Union (EU) countries (7). The microbiological quality of some brands'drinking water dispensers they put on the market for consumption is closelyrelated to the hygienic quality of the water and the containers used duringfilling. Because of this, the containers where water is stored may becomepolluted depending on the conditions and duration of use and pump’s contactwith water may constitute a potential risk for public health (8). In Turkey,unhealthy conditions may be encountered, especially during the distribution tohouses or due to the conditions violated by producers during bottled waterproduction (7). According to the research, many types of plastics have featuresthat will adversely affect human health. These are especially developmental andendocrine system disorders and cancers (9). For this reason, in order to meet water needs of families, who are the smallest unitof society, it is important to know the kind of water they prefer to use (tapor bottled water etc.), their usage reasons and storage conditions, to raiseawareness of the community and especially individuals about the water usagehabits in terms of directing water policy. Amaç: Bu çalışmanın amacı, evde ve huzurevinde yaşayan 60 yaş ve üzeri yaşlı grubun su tüketimi ve ilişkili faktörlerin belirlenmesidir. Yöntem: Bu çalışma, yaşlılarda su tüketimi ve ilişkili faktörleri belirlemek amacıyla tanımlayıcı tipte yapılmıştır. Örneklem seçimi yapılmamış olup çalışmaya katılmayı kabul eden bütün bireyler araştırmaya dahil edilmiş, çalışma 90 kişi ile sonlandırılmıştır. Veriler, araştırmacılar tarafından literatür taranarak hazırlanan sosyodemografik özellikler ve su tüketim durumlarını değerlendirme anket formu, Enstrümental Günlük Yaşam Aktiviteleri anketi, Geriatrik Depresyon Ölçeği, dehidratasyon bulgularına yönelik fizik muayene uygulanarak toplanmıştır. Araştırmanın uygulanabilmesi için, ilgili kurumlardan yazılı izin, Üniversite Etik Kurul izni, katılımcılardan sözel onamı alınmıştır.
