In this study, it was aimed to determine electromagnetic shielding effectiveness, antibacterial activity, surface resistivityand bending rigidity properties of 1×1 rib knitted fabrics. For this purpose, copper (Cu), stainless steel (SS) and silver(Ag) wires were commingled with two nylon filaments to produce metal composite yarns. 1×1 rib fabrics were producedby these composite yarns. Electromagnetic shielding effectiveness (EMSE), antibacterial activity, surface resistivity andbending rigidity of the composite knits were measured. Electromagnetic shielding measurements of samples wereconducted between 1.0–5.0 GHz frequency. Antibacterial activity test was applied according to AATCC 100 standardagainst K. pneumoniae and S. aureus bacteria. Results showed that knitted fabrics generally have lower SE values than10 dB at wale direction. The double layer samples provide higher EMSE than single layer samples for all metal types.Maximum EMSE value was obtained as 57.12 dB. The use of metal wire significantly reduced surface resistivity ofknitted fabrics. Copper composite knitted fabrics showed 99 % antibacterial activity against both bacterial species. Whencompared to the control sample, the use of metal wire significantly increased the rigidity of the samples.

In this study, antibacterial activities of plain knitted fabrics produced from titanium nanoparticles containing polyamide yarns were investigated. For this purpose, titanium nanoparticles were added to the polymer at a rate of 0.05 - 0.10 - 0.15% by weight, and 3 different yarns were produced. Plain knitted fabrics were produced using these yarns. Antibacterial activity test was applied to knitted fabrics according to AATCC 100 standard. S. aureus and K. Pneumoniae bacteria were used in the tests. As a result of the study, it was found that the nano titanium additive at the mentioned ratios did not provide an effective antibacterial property to the fabrics.

Nowadays, many electrical and electronic devices emit electromagnetic waves at various frequencies in the environment. There are various studies in the literature about the effects of this electromagnetic waves on human health. In these studies, electromagnetic radiation is associated with some diseases. Electromagnetic shielding is the basic approach to limiting or blocking electromagnetic wave. Textile surfaces including the conductive wires can be used for this purpose with their cost-effectiveness, flexible and lightweight construction. The main problem that occurs during the use of metals is corrosion by oxidation or other chemical effects. Metal surfaces can be coated with various materials against corrosion in order to preserve their properties throughout their lifetime. In this study, the electromagnetic shielding and surface resistivity properties of the fabric samples which are produced by using composite yarns that including the insulated and normal copper wires are investigated. The results of the study showed that the conductivity of the sample containing insulated copper wire was significantly lower than that of normal copper wire, while the both fabrics showed the electromagnetic shielding function.

Plastiklerin seri üretime başlamasından bu zamana, üretim tekniklerindeki gelişmeler, plastiklerin daha hafif, sağlam, kalıcı ve korozyona dayanıklı çeşitlerinde ciddi bir artışa neden olmuştur. Bu artış beraberinde plastiklerin, hayatın her alanında kullanılmasının önünü açmıştır. Yoğun kullanım sucul ve karasal ortamdaki aşırı mikro plastik kirliliğine neden olmaktadır. Tekstil ürünleri önemli mikro lif kaynaklarından bir tanesidir. Çalışma kapsamında tekstil ürünlerinin yıkanması esnasında salınan lif miktarları ve bunun çevre üzerindeki etkileri literatürdeki çalışmaların sonuçları üzerinden değerlendirilmiştir. Since the start of the mass production of plastics, improvements in production techniques caused a significant increase in the plastics that lighter, stronger, long lasting and corrosion resistant. Mass production led to the use of plastics in all areas of life. Extensive use of plastic materials cause extreme micro plastic pollution in aquatic and terrestrial environments. Textile products are one of the important sources of micro fiber. In this study, the amount of fiber released during the washing of textile products and its effects on the environment were evaluated on the results of the studies in the literature.

Bu çalışmada, metal kompozit şönil iplik üretimi gerçekleştirilmiş ve bu ipliklerden örme kumaş üretilerek performans özellikleri araştırılmıştır. Şönil ipliğin kararlı yapısını oluşturan bağ iplikleri, gümüş kaplı poliamid filament ile pamuk ipliğinin katlanıp bükülmesi yoluyla üretilmiştir. Elde edilen kompozit iplikler örülerek kumaş haline getirilmiş, karşılaştırma amacıyla %100 pamuk ipliğinden kontrol kumaşı da üretilmiştir. Numunelerin aşınma dayanımı, dairesel eğilme direnci, elektriksel direnci ve antibakteriyel aktivitesinin belirlenmesi için gerekli testler yapılmıştır. Kompozit kumaş ile kontrol kumaşından elde edilen sonuçlar karşılaştırılmış ve değerlendirilmiştir. Kompozit kumaş örneğinin kontrol kumaş örneğinden 6 kat fazla aşınma dayanımına sahip olduğu, daha düşük yüzey özdirenci gösterdiği ve yapısında gümüş kullanılmasına karşın antibakteriyel özellik göstermediği bulgusuna ulaşılmıştır. In this study, performance characteristics of knitted fabrics, which were produced by using metal composite chenille yarns, were investigated. Cotton yarn was folded and twisted with silver-coated polyamide yarn for producing core yarns of chenille. Composite chenille yarns were knitted to single jersey fabric. 100% cotton fabric was also produced as control sample for comparison. Abrasion resistance, circular bending rigidity, electrical resistance and antibacterial activity tests were applied to samples. The obtained results were compared and evaluated. As a conclusion, composite fabrics showed revealed 6 times better abrasion resistance and lower surface resistivity than control sample. Despite the use of silver in structure, composite fabric did not show antibacterial activity.

Bu çalışmada, metal kompozit iplikler içeren dokuma kumaşların üretiminde tasarım parametrelerinin elektromanyetikekranlama etkinliği (EMSE), elektriksel direnç ve antibakteriyel aktivite özellikleri üzerindeki etkisi incelenmiştir. Bu amaçla, izolebakır, paslanmaz çelik, gümüş teller ve gümüş kaplı poliamid (Shieldex) filament ikiye bir büküm tekniği kullanılarak % 100 pamukipliği ile birleştirilmiştir. El dokuma tezgâhı kullanılarak, farklı kompozit iplik yoğunluklarına sahip, bezayağı dokusunda 8 farklıkumaş, ayrıca % 100 pamuklu kontrol numunesi üretilmiştir. Numunelere EMSE, yüzey özdirenci, antibakteriyel aktivite ve daireseleğilme direnci testleri uygulanmıştır. Araştırma sonucunda metal kompozit iplik içeren tüm numuneler 53 dB’ ye ulaşan seviyelerdeEMSE göstermiştir. Paslanmaz çelik, gümüş teller ve gümüş kaplı poliamid içeren numunelerin bakır kompozit ve kontrolnumunelerinden 106 kat daha düşük yüzey direncine sahip olduğu tespit edilmiştir. Bakır ve gümüş içeren numunelere kontrolamacıyla antbakteriyel aktivite testi uygulanmıştır. Sonuç olarak bakır yüzeyindeki izolasyon ve gümüşün elementel (iyonizeolmayan) formundan dolayı antibakteriyel aktivite ortaya çıkamamıştır., In this study, the effect of design parameters of metal composite woven fabric on electromagnetic shieldingeffectiveness (EMSE), electrical resistivity and antibacterial activity properties were investigated. For this purpose, metal compositeyarn including insulated copper, stainless steel, silver wires and silver coated polyamide (Shieldex) were plied with 100% cotton spunyarns by two-for-one twisting technique. Eight different composite fabrics were produced in hand loom with different metalcomposite yarn densities. 100% cotton fabric was also produced as control sample. EMSE, surface resistivity, antibacterial activityand circular bending rigidity tests were applied to the samples. As a result, all fabrics including metal composite yarns showed EMSEup to 53 dB levels. Stainless steel, silver wires and silver coated polyamide have 106 times lower surface resistivity than copper andcontrol samples. Antibacterial activity of copper and silver samples were investigated for control purposes. Finally, antibacterialactivity was not observed in both samples due to the insulation of copper and non-ionizable silver coating.

In this study, surface resistivity of knitted fabrics produced by yarns including conductive copper/steel monofilament and metallized silver multifilament was investigated. In this context, conductive filaments are combined with textured polyester yarns by commingling technique. The produced yarns were knitted to single jersey. Surface resistivity tests were applied to the fabric samples in wale and course directions. Surface structures of the yarns and fabrics were examined in detail by taking microscope images. The obtained results were statistically analyzed and evaluated comparatively. As a conclusion, the knitted fabrics produced by yarns including metalized filaments have a lower surface resistivity than the standard and the metal monofilament fabric samples., Bu çalışmada bakır/çelik monofilament ve metalize gümüş multifilament içeren ipliklerden üretilen örme kumaşların farklı doğrultulardaki yüzey özdirenç değerleri incelenmiştir. Bu kapsamda iletken filamentler (metalize gümüş, bakır, paslanmaz çelik) eşkarıştırma (commingling) tekniği kullanılarak tekstüre polyester filament iplikler ile birleştirilmiştir. Üretilen metal içerikli ipliklerden süprem örgü yapısında numune kumaşlar üretilmiştir. Üretilen numune örme kumaşlara sıra ve çubuk doğrultusunda yüzey özdirenç testleri uygulanmıştır. Mikroskop görüntüleri kullanılarak iplik ve kumaş numunelerinin yüzey yapıları detaylı olarak incelenmiştir. Veriler istatistiksel teknikler ile analiz edilmiş ve sonuçlar karşılaştırmalı olarak değerlendirilmiştir. Araştırma sonuçları metal içerikli ipliklerden üretilen örme kumaşların daha düşük özdirenç değerine sahip olduğunu göstermiştir.

In the textile industry, measurement techniques basedon image processing principles prepare to take over subjective evalution. Inthis study, MATLAB software was used to evaluate pilling of knitted fabrics asobjective. Knitted fabric images were taken in the cycles of 1000, 2000, 3000,5000 and 7000. Fabric’s surface digitization, pills detection and segmentationwere carried out from these images. Texture analysis was performed with GrayLevel Co-occurrence Matrix (GLCM). After this phase, pill quantizations weremade using images in matrix format obtained from image processing studies.Standart deviation, entropy and mean of matrix elements, pill count, pill areaand contrast values increased with the increase of rubbing cycles applied onthe fabric. Furthermore, the increase of rubbing cycles caused decrease inenergy and homogenite., Tekstil sektöründe görüntü işleme prensibine dayalıölçüm tekniklerinin geleneksel boncuklanma ölçümünün yerini almayahazırlanmaktadır. Bu çalışmada örme kumaşlardaki boncuklanmanın objektif olarakdeğerlendirilebilmesi için MATLAB yazılımı kullanılmıştır. 1000, 2000, 3000, 5000 ve 7000 devirlerde boncuklandırılmışörme kumaştan görüntüler alınmıştır. Yazılıma yüklenen görüntülerde, kumaşyüzeyinin sayısallaştırılması, boncukların belirlenmesi ve bölütlenmesigerçekleştirilmiştir. Gri Düzey Eş Oluşum Matrisi (GLCM) kullanılarak dokuanalizi yapılmıştır. Görüntülerin başlıca öznitelikleri çıkarılmıştır. Kumaşüzerine uygulanan sürtme hareketinin artması ile boncuk sayısı, boncuk alanı, matriselementlerinin ortalaması, standart sapması, entropisi ve karşıtlık değerleriartış göstermiştir. Enerji ve homojenite değerleri azalmıştır.

Intermingling is an alternative technique for yarn blending process. Yarns having different features can be combined by feeding the same intermingling jet. In this study, for the production of metal composite yarns, standard textured polyester yarns were commingled with different silver, copper, stainless steel metal wires and metalized (silver) polyamide filament. Then, woven fabrics were produced with 4 different placements of these composite yarns. Antibacterial-antifungal activity, surface resistivity and electromagnetic shielding effectiveness tests were applied to produced samples according to relevant standards. It has been identified that the carried application provides antibacterial-antifungal activity, antistatic and electromagnetic shielding properties to the samples.

In this research,it is aimed to investigate the effects of intermingled yarns surface structure,caused by difference in number of nips, on the knitted fabrics’ colorparameters such as lightness (L*), reflectance (R), absorption coefficient / scatteringcoefficient (K/S) and color difference (ΔE*). For this aim, filament yarnshaving different number of nips with 283 dtex linear density and 100 filamentswere used for producing the single jersey knitted fabrics. Fabrics were dyedand colors parameters of samples were measured. Results were analyzed by usingRealcolor 1.3 software package. As a result of study, it was determined thatthe R and L* values effected by the changing in nips value and fabric’sconstruction.&nbsp, Buçalışmada puntalanmış ipliklerin punta sayılarındaki değişimin, bu ipliklerdenüretilen örme kumaşların açıklık-koyuluk (L*), yansıma (R), Absorpsiyonkatsayısı / Saçılma katsayısı (K/S) ve renk farklılığı (ΔE*) değerleri üzerindeetkililerinin araştırılması amaçlanmıştır. Bu amaçla 283 dtex lineer yoğunluğasahip ve kesitinde 100 filament bulunan, farklı punta sayısına sahipipliklerden düz örgü kumaşlar üretilmiştir. Üretilen kumaşlar boyanmış ve renkparametreleri ölçülmüştür. Elde edilen sonuçlar Realcolor 1.3 paket programıkullanılarak analiz edilmiştir. Çalışma sonucunda punta sayısı ve kumaşkonstrüksiyonundaki değişimin R ve L* değerleri üzerinde etkili olduğu tespitedilmiştir.

In this study, usage possibilities of conductive filaments in the carpet production and potential properties provided by them were investigated. Carpet contains different yarn groups such as pile yarns, ground warps, ground wefts, and fill yarns etc. First step of study is determining the yarn groups that provide the lowest cost with conductive filaments usage. Backing warps are suitable for this aim because of their placement and low usage amount. Carpet samples were produced with using commingled backing yarns and selected performance test were performed. It has been identified that the carried application provides antibacterial, antifungal, antistatic and electromagnetic shielding properties to carpet samples., Yapılan çalışmada metal ve metalize iletken filamentlerin halılarda kullanım olanakları ve halılara kazandırması muhtemel özellikler araştırılmıştır. Halılar hav iplikleri, zemin çözgüsü, zemin atkısı ve dolgu iplikleri gibi farklı iplik gruplarından meydana gelirler. Çalışmada öncelikli olarak metal ve metalize filamentlerin halılara en düşük maliyetle yerleştirilecek iplik grubunun belirlenmesi hedeflenmiştir. Yapılan araştırmalar sonucunda yerleşim yerinin etkisi ve düşük kullanım miktarı nedeniyle zemin çözgüsü tercih edilmiştir. Zemin çözgüsünde kullanılacak tekstüre polyester iplikler ile iletken filamentler puntalama işlemiyle birleştirilmiştir. Bu ipliklerin zemin çözgüsünde kullanılmasıyla üretilen numune halılara seçilen performans testleri yapılmıştır. Çalışma kapsamında gerçekleştirilen uygulamanın, halılara antibakteriyel, antimantar, antistatik, ve elektromanyetik ekranlama özelliklerini kazandırdığı görülmüştür.

Çalışmada metal ve metalize filamentlerin halılarda kullanım olanakları ve halılara kazandırması beklenen özellikler araştırılmıştır. Halılar hav iplikleri, zemin çözgüsü, zemin atkısı ve dolgu iplikleri gibi farklı iplik gruplarından meydana gelirler. Metal ve metalize filmantlerin en düşük maliyetle halı yapısına eklenmesini sağlayacak iplik grubunun belirlenmesi hedeflenmiş ve zemin ipliklerinde (çözgü ve atkı) kullanımının daha etkili sonuçlar vereceği öngörülmüştür. Bu amaçla halı zemininde yaygın olarak kullanılan tekstüre polyester iplikler ile iletken filamentler puntalama işlemiyle birleştirilmiştir. Üretilen metal ve metalize kompozit iplikler 4 farklı yerleşimde kullanılarak halı zemin kumaşları üretilmiştir. Daha sonra hav tabakası robo-tuft makinesinde zemin kumaşına yerleştirilmiştir. Üretilen halı numunelerine antibakteriyel ve antifungal aktivite, elektriksel direnç (yüzey özdirenci ve hacimsel direnç) ve elektromanyetik ekranlama etkinliği testleri yapılmıştır. Backing fabrics of carpet samples were produced with 4 different placements by using metal/metalized composite yarns. Then, the pile layer was placed on the backing fabrics in the robotuft machine. Antibacterial-antifungal activity, electrical resistance (surface resistance and volume resistance) and electromagnetic shielding effectiveness tests were applied to produced carpet samples. In this study, variation of yarn count that occurred after the intermingling process was investigated. For this purpose, POY polyester filaments having 283 dtex linear density and four different filament numbers (34, 47, 68, 100) in cross section were used for raw material and intermingled for producing the yarns in different number of nips. Intermingled yarns number of nips and yarn count have been tested. Yarn count was evaluated as dependent variables. The relationship among variation of yarn count with number of nips and filament number were analyzed as statistically by using SPSS 15.0 software package and results were interpreted, Yapılan çalışmada kısmi çekimli (POY) polyester ipliklerin puntalama sonrası meydana gelen numara değişimleri araştırılmıştır. Bu amaçla 34, 47, 68 ve 100 filament sayılarına ve 283 dtex lineer yoğunluğa sahip POY polyester iplikler hammadde olarak kullanılmış ve farklı punta sayılarına sahip iplikler üretilmiştir. Üretilen ipliklerin punta sayıları ve iplik numaraları test edilmiştir. İplik numarası bağımlı değişken olarak değerlendirilerek, punta sayısı ve filament sayısı ile arasındaki ilişki istatistiksel olarak analiz edilmiştir

Tez kapsamında, iki farklı inceliğe (122, 283 dtex) ve iki farklı filament sayısına (68, 100) sahip POY hammadde olarak kullanılmıştır. Hemaks HMX 114 marka puntalama makinesinde söz konusu POY bobinleri puntalama işlemine tabi tutulmuştur. Puntalama prosesinde hız üç seviyede (150, 300, 450 m/dk), basınç üç seviyede (3, 5, 6 bar) seçilerek üretim yapılmıştır. Puntalanan ipliklerin kalite özellikleri (punta sayısı, punta düzgünsüzlüğü, punta kalıcılığı, iplik mukavemeti ve uzaması) test edilmiş ve bu özellikler tepki (bağımlı) değişken olarak değerlendirilmiştir. POY inceliği, filament sayısı, puntalama hızı ve puntalama basıncı bağımsız değişkenler olarak alınmıştır. Design Expert 6.0.1 paket programı kullanılarak Genel Faktöriyel Tasarım uygulanmış ve böylece seçilen bağımsız değişkenlerin tepki değişkenleri üzerindeki etkileri istatistiksel olarak değerlendirilerek sonuçlar yorumlanmıştır. In this thesis, POY filaments which have two different linear densities (122, 283 dtex) and two different filament numbers (68, 100) in cross section were used as raw material. POY bobbins were intermingled with Hemaks brand, HMX 114 model intermingling machine. Production was made by selecting three different speed levels (150, 300, 450 m/min) and three different pressure levels (3, 5, 6 bar). Intermingled yarn quality characteristics (number of nips, unevenness of nips, stability of nips, yarn strength and elongation) have been tested and these features were evaluated as response (dependent) variables. Linear densities of POY, number of filaments in cross section, intermingling speed and intermingling pressure were taken as independent variables. General Factorial Design was applied by using Design Expert 6.0.1 software package and so effects of selected independent variables on the response variables were evaluated as statistically and results were interpreted.
