Abstract: International audience, We present the WebdamLog system for managing distributed data on the Web in a peer-to-peer manner. We demonstrate the main features of the system through an application called Wepic for sharing pictures between attendees of the sigmod conference. Using Wepic, the attendees will be able to share, download, rate and annotate pictures in a highly decentralized manner. We show how WebdamLog handles heterogeneity of the devices and services used to share data in such a Web setting. We exhibit the simple rules that define the Wepic application and show how to easily modify the Wepic application.

Abstract: International audience, A distributed XML document is an XML document that spans several machines or Web repositories. We assume that a distribution design of the document tree is given, providing an XML tree some of whose leaves are "docking points", to which XML subtrees can be attached. These subtrees may be provided and controlled by peers at remote locations, or may correspond to the result of function calls, e.g., Web services. If a global type τ, e.g. a DTD, is specified for a distributed document T, it would be most desirable to be able to break this type into a collection of local types, called a local typing, such that the document satisfies τ if and only if each peer (or function) satisfies its local type. In this paper we lay out the fundamentals of a theory of local typing and provide formal definitions of three main variants of locality: local typing, maximal local typing, and perfect typing, the latter being the most desirable. We study the following relevant decision problems: (i) given a typing for a design, determine whether it is local, maximal local, or perfect; (ii) given a design, establish whether a (maximal) local, or perfect typing does exist. For some of these problems we provide tight complexity bounds (polynomial space), while for the others we show exponential upper bounds. A main contribution is a polynomial-space algorithm for computing a perfect typing in this context, if it exists.

Abstract: International audience, For the 3DUI 2012 contest, we propose a set of metaphors that enable two users to collaborate to find hidden targets in a 3D virtual environment. They are not allowed to communicate by talking or chatting, but only by interacting with shared virtual objects. We propose three solutions to enable one of the users to help the other one to navigate toward targets: displaying direction arrows, lighting up the path to one target, and remotely moving the second user.

Abstract: International audience, In the context of scientific data analysis, we propose to compare a remote collaborative manipulation technique with a single user manipulation technique. The manipulation task consists in positioning a clipping plane in order to perform cross-sections of scientific data which show several points of interest located inside this data. For the remote collaborative manipulation, we have chosen to use the 3-hand manipulation technique proposed by Aguerreche et al. which is very suitable with a remote manipulation of a plane. We ran two experiments to compare the two manipulation techniques with some participants located in two different countries. These experiments showed that the remote collaborative manipulation technique was significantly more efficient than the single user manipulation when the three points of interest were far from each other inside the scientific data and, consequently, when the manipulation task was harder and required more precision. When the three points of interest were close from each other, there was not significant difference between the two manipulation techniques.

Abstract: International audience; Anticiper l’expertise est une étape importante dans le processus de rédaction d’un article de didactique. En s’appuyant sur deux domaines, la didactique de la géographie et la didactique des sciences, cet article problématise l’anticipation de l’expertise au regard de la ligne éditoriale des revues et de leurs éventuels implicite s. Trois points de vue permettent ainsi de réfléchir aux enjeux de cette anticipation : un point de vue sociologique s’intéressant aux critères de reconnaissance des espaces potentiels de publication en didactiques, un point de vue épistémologique problématisant notamment les enjeux des choix de planification opérés lors de la rédaction d’un article, et un point de vue praxéologique concernant des points de vigilance lors de la rédaction et de l’envoi d’un article.

Abstract: International audience; Background Knowledge of the long-term effects of soccer training on hematological, hormonal, inflammatory, and muscle damage markers and physical performance may help to better design strength and conditioning programs for performance development and injury prevention for the individual player and the team. Objectives The aim of this systematic review was to summarize and discuss evidence on the long-term effects of soccer training on selected hematological, hormonal, inflammatory, and muscle damage markers and physical performance in elite and professional soccer players. A second goal was to investigate associations between selected physiological markers and measures of performance. Methods Adhering to the Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analysis (PRISMA) guidelines, a systematic literature search was conducted in four electronic databases (PubMed, ISI Web of Knowledge, Web of Science, and SPORTDiscus) from inception until August 2020 to identify articles related to soccer training effects. To be included in this systematic review, studies had to examine male elite (national level) and/or professional (international level) soccer players aged > 17 years and a soccer training period > 4 weeks, and report outcomes related to hematological, hormonal, inflammatory, muscle damage, and performance markers. Results The search syntax initially identified 2420 records. After screening titles, abstracts, and full texts, 20 eligible studies were included in this systematic review, with training durations lasting between 4 and 18 weeks in 15 studies, around 6 months in four studies, and around 1 year in one study. Effects of long-term soccer training revealed parameter-specific increases or decreases in hematological, hormonal, inflammatory, and muscle damage markers and physical performance. Two studies showed a moderate increase in hematological markers such as hemoglobin (effect size [ES] = 0.67-0.93). Parameter-specific changes were noted for hormonal markers in the form of increases for total testosterone (ES = 0.20-0.67) and free testosterone (FT) (ES = 0.20-0.65) and decreases for cortisol (ES = - 0.28 to - 1.31). Finally, moderate to very large increases were found for muscle damage markers such as creatine kinase (ES = 0.94-6.80) and physical performance such as countermovement jump (CMJ) height (ES = 0.50-1.11) and squat jump (SJ) height (ES = 0.65-1.28). After long-term periods of soccer training, significant positive correlations were found between percentage change (Delta%) in FT and Delta% in CMJ height (r = 0.94; p = 0.04) and between Delta% in total testosterone/cortisol (TT/C) ratio and Delta% in SJ (r = 0.89; p = 0.03). Conclusions Findings suggest that long-term soccer training induces increases/decreases in hematological, hormonal, inflammatory, and muscle damage markers and physical performance in male elite and professional soccer players. These fluctuations can be explained by different contextual factors (e.g., training load, duration of training, psychological factors, mood state). Interestingly, the observed changes in hormonal parameters (FT and TT/C) were related to vertical jump performance changes (e.g., CMJ and SJ). Anabolic hormones and TT/C can possibly be used as a tool to identify physical performance alteration after long-term soccer training.

Abstract: International audience; Early detection of damage and monitoring helps improving the safety and durability of structures. The ability to model and simulate this phenomenon, along with measurements, facilitates system control.Various sensor types have been used in the context of structural health monitoring. Among them, Distributed Optic Fiber Sensors grant certain benefits which make them a convenient option for real-time monitoring of structures. This work comprises of using distributed strain sensors, based on Rayleigh backscattering and OFDR technology, in samples that bear loading up to their failure point. The collected data are then post-processed in the framework of modified constitutive relation error (mCRE) to perform damage model updating and estimate the material condition. Several damage models are presented and compared, and the most suitable model is also selected using mCRE.; La détection précoce de l’endommagement et le suivi de sa progression contribuent à améliorer la sécurité et la durabilité des structures. La capacité à modéliser et simuler ce phénomène, en complément de mesures, facilite le contrôle du système. Différents types de capteurs ont été utilisés dans le cadre de la surveillance de l’état des structures. Parmi eux, les capteurs à fibre optique distribués offrent divers avantages qui en font une option pratique pour la surveillance en temps réel des structures. Ce travail consiste à utiliser des capteurs distribués de déformation, basés sur la rétrodiffusion de Rayleigh et la technologie OFDR, dans des échantillons qui supportent une charge jusqu’à leur point de rupture. Les données recueillies sont ensuite post-traitées dans le cadre de l’erreur en relation de comportement modifiée (mCRE) pour effectuer la mise à jour du modèle d’endommagement et estimer l’état du matériau.Plusieurs modèles d’endommagement sont présentés et comparés, et le modèle le plus adapté est aussi sélectionné au moyen de la mCRE.

Abstract: International audience; OBJECTIVE: This study aimed to determine how different resistance training protocols affect gremlin 1, macrophage migration inhibitory factor (MIF), cardiometabolic, and anthropometric measures in obese men. METHODS: Forty-four males with obesity (weight: 93.2 ± 2.2 kg, BMI: 32.9 ± 1.2 kg/m(2), age: 27.5 ± 9.4 years) were randomly assigned to traditional resistance training (TRT, n = 11), circuit resistance training (CRT, n = 11), interval resistance training (IRT, n = 11) or control (C, n = 11) groups. TRT group performed ten exercises at 50% of 1RM with 14 repetitions for three sets and 30 seconds rest interval between exercises and 1.5 min rest between sets, the CRT protocol included three circuits of 10 exercises, at an intensity of 50% of 1-RM, 14 repetitions with a minimum rest (< 15 s) between exercises and 3 min rest between sets, and the IRT group performed two sets of the same exercises with 50% of 1 RM, and 14 repetitions were followed with active rest of 25% of 1RM and 14 repetitions. All resistance training groups performed 60 min per session resistance exercises, 3 days per week, for 12 weeks. Measurements were taken at baseline and after 12 weeks of exercise training. RESULTS: Resistance training (TRT, CRT, and IRT) significantly decreased plasma levels of gremlin (TRT from 231.0 ± 5.8 to 210.0 ± 11.6 ng/ml, CRT from 226.0 ± 7.6 to 188.0 ± 7.7 ng/ml and, IRT from 227.0 ± 6.3 to 183.0 ± 9.0 ng/ml, effect size (ES): 0.50), MIF (TRT from 251.0 ± 7.4 to 260.0 ± 6.5 ng/ml, CRT from 248.0 ± 10.9 to 214.0 ± 9.0 ng/ml and, IRT from 247.0 ± 8.9 to 196.0 ± 6.9 ng/ml, ES: 0.55) and CRP (TRT from 28.4 ± 1.7 to 23.3 ± 2.1 nmol/l, CRT from 28.5 ± 2.2 to 21.1 ± 1.8 nmol/l, IRT from 28.1 ± 1.3 to 20.8 ± 1.3 nmol/l, ES: 0.49) compared to the control group (p

Abstract: In large clonal populations, several clones generally compete which results in complex evolutionary and ecological dynamics: experiments show successive selective sweeps of favorable mutations as well as long-term coexistence of multiple clonal strains. The mechanisms underlying either coexistence or fixation of several competing strains have rarely been studied altogether. Conditions for coexistence have mostly been studied by population and community ecology, while rates of invasion and fixation have mostly been studied by population genetics. In order to provide a global understanding of the complexity of the dynamics observed in large clonal populations, we develop a stochastic model where three clones compete. Competitive interactions can be intransitive and we suppose that strains enter the population via mutations or rare immigrations. We first describe all possible final states of the population, including stable coexistence of two or three strains, or the fixation of a single strain. Second, we give estimate of the invasion and fixation times of a favorable mutant (or immigrant) entering the population in a single copy. We show that invasion and fixation can be slower or faster when considering complex competitive interactions. Third, we explore the parameter space assuming prior distributions of reproduction, death and competitive rates and we estimate the likelihood of the possible dynamics. We show that when mutations can affect competitive interactions, even slightly, stable coexistence is likely. We discuss our results in the context of the evolutionary dynamics of large clonal populations.

Abstract: Previous studies have not considered the potential influence of maturity status on the relationship between mental imagery and change of direction (CoD) speed in youth soccer. Accordingly, this cross-sectional study examined the association between mental imagery and CoD performance in young elite soccer players of different maturity status. Forty young male soccer players, aged 10-17 years, were assigned into two groups according to their predicted age at peak height velocity (PHV) (Pre-PHV; n = 20 and Post-PHV; n = 20). Participants were evaluated on soccer-specific tests of CoD with (CoDBall-15m) and without (CoD-15m) the ball. Participants completed the movement imagery questionnaire (MIQ) with the three- dimensional structure, internal visual imagery (IVI), external visual imagery (EVI), as well as kinesthetic imagery (KI). The Post-PHV players achieved significantly better results than Pre-PHV in EVI (ES = 1.58, large; p < 0.001), CoD-15m (ES = 2.09, very large; p < 0.001) and CoDBall-15m (ES = 1.60, large; p < 0.001). Correlations were significantly different between maturity groups, where, for the pre-PHV group, a negative very large correlation was observed between CoDBall-15m and KI (r = ��0.73, p = 0.001). For the post-PHV group, large negative correlations were observed between CoD-15m and IVI (r = ��0.55, p = 0.011), EVI (r = ��062, p = 0.003), and KI (r = ��0.52, p = 0.020). A large negative correlation of CoDBall-15m with EVI (r = ��0.55, p = 0.012) and very large correlation with KI (r = ��0.79, p = 0.001) were also observed. This study provides evidence of the theoretical and practical use for the CoD tasks stimulus with imagery. Abstract: Drags are a recent, natural generalization of terms which admit arbitrary cycles. A key aspect of drags is that they can be equipped with a composition operator so that rewriting amounts to replace a drag by another in a composition. In this paper, we develop a unification algorithm for drags that allows to check the local confluence property of a set of drag rewrite rules. Abstract: Background: We assessed the effects of gender, in association with a four-week small-sided games (SSGs) training program, during Ramadan intermitting fasting (RIF) on changes in psychometric and physiological markers in professional male and female basketball players. Methods: Twenty-four professional basketball players from the first Tunisian (Tunisia) division participated in this study. The players were dichotomized by sex (males [GM = 12]; females [GF = 12]). Both groups completed a 4 weeks SSGs training program with 3 sessions per week. Psychometric (e.g., quality of sleep, fatigue, stress, and delayed onset of muscle soreness [DOMS]) and physiological parameters (e.g., heart rate frequency, blood lactate) were measured during the first week (baseline) and at the end of RIF (post-test). Results: Post hoc tests showed a significant increase in stress levels in both groups (GM [�� 81.11%; p < 0.001, d = 0.33, small]; GF [�� 36,53%; p = 0.001, d = 0.25, small]). Concerning physiological parameters, ANCOVA revealed significantly lower heart rates in favor of GM at post-test (1.70%, d = 0.38, small, p = 0.002). Conclusions: Our results showed that SSGs training at the end of the RIF negatively impacted psychometric parameters of male and female basketball players. Abstract: This study compared the effects of varying aerobic training programs on pulmonary diffusing capacity (TLCO), pulmonary diffusing capacity for nitric oxide (TLNO), lung capillary blood volume (Vc) and alveolar–capillary membrane diffusing capacity (DM) of gases at rest and just after maximal exercise in young athletes. Sixteen healthy young runners (16–18 years) were randomly assigned to an intense endurance training program (IET, n = 8) or to a moderate endurance training program (MET, n = 8). The training volume was similar in IET and MET but with different work intensities, and each lasted for 8 weeks. Participants performed a maximal graded cycle bicycle ergometer test to measure maximal oxygen consumption (VO2max) and maximal aerobic power (MAP) before and after the training programs. Moreover, TLCO, TLNO and Vc were measured during a single breath maneuver. After eight weeks of training, all pulmonary parameters with the exception of alveolar volume (VA) and inspiratory volume (VI) (0.104 < p < 0889; 0.001 < ES < 0.091), measured at rest and at the end of maximal exercise, showed significant group × time interactions (p < 0.05, 0.2 < ES < 4.0). Post hoc analyses revealed significant pre-to-post decreases for maximal heart rates (p < 0.0001, ES = 3.1) and improvements for VO2max (p = 0.006, ES = 2.22) in the IET group. Moreover, post hoc analyses revealed significant pre-to-post improvements in the IET for DM, TLNO, TLCO and Vc (0.001 < p < 0.0022; 2.68 < ES < 6.45). In addition, there were increases in Vc at rest, VO2max, TLNO and DM in the IET but not in the MET participants after eight weeks of training with varying exercise intensities. Our findings suggest that the intensity of training may represent the most important factor in increasing pulmonary vascular function in young athletes.

Abstract: International audience; Social insects are classic examples of cooperation and coordination. For instance, laboratory studies of colony relocation, or house-hunting, have investigated how workers coordinate their efforts to swiftly move the colony to the best nesting site available while preserving colony integrity, i.e. avoiding a split. However, several studies have shown that, in some other contexts, individuals may use private rather than social information and may act solitarily rather than in a coordinated way. Here, we study resource allocation by a mature ant colony when it reproduces by fissioning into several colonies. This is a very different task than house-hunting in that colony fission seeks the split of the colony. We develop a simple individual-based model to test if colony fission and resource allocation may be carried out by workers acting solitarily with no coordination. Our model reproduces well the pattern of allocation observed in nature (number and size of new colonies). This does not show that workers do not communicate nor coordinate. Rather, it suggests that independent decision making may be an important component of the process of resource allocation.

Abstract: National audience; Aims - In this review the authors achieve a state of knowledge related to the match activity, the characteristics of elite men and women players, as well as trauma and injury prevention in soccer. Actuality. - Comprehension the specific requirements of elite level soccer can provide important information about the factors that enable competitive performance. In particular, anthropometric measurements, physical and physiological capacities of men and women players are specific and differ from each other. Perspectives and projects. - A literature review was carried out from inception to November 2020 on databases of Medline via Pubmed, Researchgate, Web of Science, SPORTDiscus and Google Scholar, at the end of which, 205 studies were identified using the key terms: performance in football and its different variables; the workload monitoring in matches; the workload analysis in matches; the physical and physiological characteristics of men and women elite players; injury and injury prevention. Conclusion. - Considering the different elements of this review will allow staff to understand training and competition with the aim of performance and injury prevention.; Objectifs : Dans cette revue de question, les auteurs réalisent un état des lieux des connaissances relatives à 69 l’activité en match et des caractéristiques des joueurs et joueuses de haut niveau, ainsi qu’à la traumatologie et à 70 la prévention des blessures en football. 71 Actualités : La compréhension des exigences spécifiques du football de niveau élite peut fournir des informations 72 importantes sur les facteurs qui permettent d’être performant en compétition. Abstract: We investigated the effects of 12 weeks of high-intensity interval training (HIIT) on selected circulating adipokines and other cardiovascular diseases risks factors in men with obesity. Thirty men with obesity (age: 24.96±3.11 year, BMI: 30.92±1.04 kg/m2) were randomly assigned to HIIT and control groups. The HIIT group participated in a 12-week HIIT program (5×2 min interval bout at an intensity of 85–95% HRmax interspersed by 1 min passive recovery, three times per week), while the control group maintained their usual lifestyles. Abstract: In most Muslim-majority countries, the legislators who drafted family law codes sought to produce a codified version of one of the many Islamic fiqh schools. Such is the case, from West to East, for Morocco, Egypt, and Indonesia. There are situations, however, in which the law remains silent. In such cases, judges must turn to fiqh in order to find appropriate provisions. It is up to judges to interpret the law and to locate the relevant rule. In this process, judges use new interpretive techniques and modes of reasoning. After addressing institutional and legal transformations in Morocco, Egypt, and Indonesia, this article focuses on the domain of family law. We examine cases that illustrate how judges seek a solution in the body of fiqh when asked to authenticate a marriage. In conclusion, we put forward an argument about how judges who are required to refer to fiqh deal with this matter within the context of positive, codified, and standardized law. We argue that the methodology and epistemology adopted by contemporary judges, the legal material on which they draw, and the means by which they refer to this material have fundamentally altered the nature of legal cognition and of law itself.

Abstract: Attack trees are a well established and commonly used framework for security modeling. They provide a readable and structured representation of possible attacks against a system to protect. Their hierarchical structure reveals common features of the attacks and enables quantitative evaluation of security, thus highlighting the most severe vulnerabilities to focus on while implementing countermeasures. Since in real-life studies attack trees have a large number of nodes, their manual creation is a tedious and error-prone process, and their analysis is a computationally challenging task. During the last half decade, the attack tree community witnessed a growing interest in employing formal methods to deal with the aforementioned difficulties. We survey recent advances in graphical security modeling with focus on the application of formal methods to the interpretation, (semi-)automated creation, and quantitative analysis of attack trees and their extensions. We provide a unified description of existing frameworks, compare their features, and outline interesting open questions.

Abstract: An efficient low order virtual element method (VEM) for crack-propagation in elastic solids at small strains is outlined within this work. The recently developed VEM is a competitive discretization scheme for meshes with highly irregular shaped elements and arbitrary number of nodes. The formulation in this contribution is based on minimization of an energy expression with stabilization techniques for brittle fracture in 2D problems. Novel aspect here is the development of robust cutting techniques through elements for crack propagation in two-dimensional solids using VEM. The performance of the formulation is underlined by means of representative examples.

Abstract: International audience; Hybrid halide perovskites are now considered to be key materials for contemporary research in photovoltaics and nanophotonics. In particular, because these materials can be solution processed, they represent a great hope for obtaining large-surface devices suited to a wide scale of wafers and large-scale integrated devices. While the potential of 2D layered hybrid perovskites for polaritonic devices operating at room temperature has been demonstrated in the past, the potential of 3D perovskites has been much less explored for this particular application. Here, we report the strong exciton−photon coupling with 3D bromide hybrid perovskite. Cavity polaritons are experimentally demonstrated from both reflectivity and photoluminescence experiments, at room temperature, in a 3λ/2 planar microcavity containing a large-surface spin-coated CH 3 NH 3 PbBr 3 thin film. A microcavity quality factor of 92 was found, and a large Rabi splitting of 70 meV was measured. This result paves the way to large-surface and low-cost polaritonic devices operating at room temperature, compatible with electrical injection

Abstract: International audience; Robust wide baseline pose estimation is an essential step in the deployment of smart camera networks. In this work, we highlight some current limitations of conventional strategies for relative pose estimation in difficult urban scenes. Then, we propose a solution which relies on an adaptive search of corresponding interest points in synchronized video streams which allows us to converge robustly toward a high-quality solution. The core idea of our algorithm is to build across the image space a nonstationary mapping of the local pose estimation uncertainty, based on the spatial distribution of interest points. Subsequently, the mapping guides the selection of new observations from the video stream in order to prioritize the coverage of areas of high uncertainty. With an additional step in the initial stage, the proposed algorithm may also be used for refining an existing pose estimation based on the video data; this mode allows for performing a data-driven self-calibration task for stereo rigs for which accuracy is critical, such as onboard medical or vehicular systems. We validate our method on three different datasets which cover typical scenarios in pose estimation. The results show a fast and robust convergence of the solution, with a significant improvement, compared to single image-based alternatives, of the RMSE of ground-truth matches, and of the maximum absolute error.

Abstract: International audience; In this paper, we propose a novel accelerated alternating optimization scheme to solve block-biconvex nonsmooth problems whose objectives can be split into smooth (separable) regularizers and simple coupling terms. The proposed method performs a Bregman distance based generalization of the well-known forward-backward splitting for each block, along with an inertial strategy which aims at getting empirical acceleration. We discuss the theoretical convergence of the proposed scheme and provide numerical experiments on image colorization.

Abstract: International audience; This paper presents a zero-dimensional (0D) model of hydride tank. The model aims to study the dynamic heat and mass transfers during desorption process in order to investigate the thermal-fluidic behaviors of this hydride tank. This proposed model has been validated experimentally thanks to a tailor-made developed test bench. This test bench allows the hydride characterization at tank scale and also the energetic characterization. The simulation results of the heat exchanges and mass transfer in and between the coupled reaction bed, show good agreement with the experimental ones. It is shown that the heat produced by a Proton Exchange Membrane Fuel Cell (PEMFC) (estimated starting from an electrical model) is enough to heat the metal alloy (FeTi) and therefore release the hydrogen with a sufficient mass flow rate to supply the PEMFC. Furthermore, the obtained results highlight the importance of the developed model for energy management of the coupling of fuel cell and hydride tank system.

Abstract: La implementacion del llamado proceso digital en tecnologias de Additive Manufacturing (AM) depende principalmente en los modelos de datos y procesos y el uso de estandares considerando todas las actividades relacionadas con AM. En este articulo, primero se propone un procedimiento fundamental para especificar el proceso digital en la tecnologia Fused Deposition Modeling (FDM), incluyendo conceptos de proceso, estandares relacionados, representacion del modelo y evaluacion del modelo desde la informacion de diseno de la pieza hasta los datos de fabricacion. Se proponen modelos de datos de proceso basados en STEP que se centran en application reference model (ARM) y en el application avtivity model (AAM). Ademas, el modelo de datos de proceso define el proceso de fabricacion, la actividad del plan de proceso, los parametros de fabricacion, los requisitos de FDM, especificaciones y los materiales, y redefine las entidades de aplicacion y las operaciones de fabricacion, incluyendo la fabricacion de capas en 2.5D, el cabezal de impresion, la tecnologia FDM, las estrategias de deposicion, las funciones de FDM y las trayectorias del cabezal. Finalmente, el modelo de datos de proceso necesita ser evaluado para valorar una prueba de conformidad para la verificacion y validacion de estos datos de fabricacion. Abstract: Highly qualified labour force is a key resource for growth. In modern manufacturing, the competent use of advanced measuring equipment for inspection and digitization of parts is an essential competence that is needed for both advanced product/process engineering and quality control. Coordinate Metrology (including 3D digital measuring technologies) is by far the most important tool for these specialized activities. As widely reported, the individuals operating the measuring systems - with their decisions - are frequently one of the most relevant error sources in Coordinate Metrology operations, especially when dealing with new measuring technologies supporting Digital Manufacturing (e.g. Computed Tomography, Fringe-projection, Reverse Engineering). The paper reports the intermediate results of an initiative aiming at innovating training in Coordinate Metrology, focused on supporting the needs of SMEs in the supply chain of the automotive industry. The main target group are industry employees operating in SMEs that are newcomers on 3D measuring technologies. An integrated concept for training in Coordinate Metrology has been developed using a blended learning approach, based on a 10-steps structure and incorporating the learning outcomes required to operate different measuring systems in a consistent way.

Abstract: Effective modeling of geometric deviations is an important issue in Design for Additive Manufacturing (DfAM), since it enables the evaluation of geometric consistency and the optimization of geometric design. Motivated by the awareness that process-related factors have non-trivial effects on geometric deviations, a new method is proposed in this paper which combines Statistical Shape Analysis with Gaussian Process to enable the modeling of deviations with consideration of process parameters. By learning from a number of simulated samples, the method could achieve effective prediction of deviations for new parts. Its applications in surface deformation evaluation and geometric compensation are also discussed, which will bring substantial benefits to DfAM.

Abstract: Diffusion processes are crucial to the durability and confinement capacity of cement-based materials as well as property development. The liquid phase in cement-based materials is the pore solution, whose composition changes with age and is a function of the cement system composition. Water structure and dynamics are recognized to be affected by the presence of ions. Fundamental understanding of the physical processes underlying these changes can be critical in the elucidation of the physical origin of durability issues and in the development of new admixtures. Here, the structure and dynamics of water and ions present in pore solutions are studied using molecular dynamics simulations. Self-diffusion coefficients are computed for bulk solutions mimicking the complex composition of pore solutions. Specific ion effects on water dynamics are interpreted in terms of water reorientation time. The composition dependency of ion dynamics explains the evolution of the ionic conductivity of the pore solutions.

Abstract: International audience; In today's business environment, the trend towards more product variety and customization is unbroken. Due to this development, the need of agile and reconfigurable production systems emerged to cope with various products and product families. To design and optimize production systems as well as to choose the optimal product matches, product analysis methods are needed. Indeed, most of the known methods aim to analyze a product or one product family on the physical level. Different product families, however, may differ largely in terms of the number and nature of components. This fact impedes an efficient comparison and choice of appropriate product family combinations for the production system. A new methodology is proposed to analyze existing products in view of their functional and physical architecture. The aim is to cluster these products in new assembly oriented product families for the optimization of existing assembly lines and the creation of future reconfigurable assembly systems. Based on Datum Flow Chain, the physical structure of the products is analyzed. Functional subassemblies are identified, and a functional analysis is performed. Moreover, a hybrid functional and physical architecture graph (HyFPAG) is the output which depicts the similarity between product families by providing design support to both, production system planners and product designers. An illustrative example of a nail-clipper is used to explain the proposed methodology. An industrial case study on two product families of steering columns of thyssenkrupp Presta France is then carried out to give a first industrial evaluation of the proposed approach.

Abstract: Processes are a crucial artifact in organizations, since they coordinate the execution of activities so that products and services are provided. The use of models to analyze the underlying processes is a well-known practice. However, due to the complexity and continuous evolution of their processes, organizations need an effective way of analyzing the relation between processes and models. Conformance checking techniques assess the suitability of a process model in representing an underlying process, observed through a collection of real executions. One important metric in conformance checking is to assess the precision of the model with respect to the observed executions, i.e., characterize the ability of the model to produce behavior unrelated to the one observed. In this paper we present the notion of anti-alignment as a concept to help unveiling runs in the model that may deviate significantly from the observed behavior. Using anti-alignments, a new metric for precision is proposed. The proposed anti-alignment based precision metric satisfies most of the required axioms highlighted in a recent publication. Moreover, a complexity analysis of the problem of computing anti-alignments is provided, which sheds light into the practicability of using anti-alignment to estimate precision. Experiments are provided that witness the validity of the concepts introduced in this paper. Abstract: Interrupt Timed Automata ( ITA ) form a subclass of stopwatch automata where reachability and some variants of timed model checking are decidable even in presence of parameters. They are well suited to model and analyze real-time operating systems. Here we extend ITA with polynomial guards and updates, leading to the class of polynomial ITA ( PolITA ). We prove that reachability is decidable in 2EXPTIME on PolITA , using an adaptation of the cylindrical algebraic decomposition algorithm for the first-order theory of reals. We also obtain decidability for the model checking of a timed version of CTL and for reachability in several extensions of PolITA . In particular, compared to previous approaches, our procedure handles parameters and clocks in a unified way. We also study expressiveness questions for PolITA and show that PolITA are incomparable with stopwatch automata.

Abstract: Objective The aim of this study was to examine the effects of two different sprint-training regimes on sprint and jump performances according to age in elite young male soccer players over the course of one soccer season. Methods Players were randomly assigned to two training groups. Group 1 performed systematic change-of-direction sprints (CODST, U19 [n = 9], U17 [n = 9], U15 [n = 10]) while group 2 conducted systematic linear sprints (LST, U19 [n = 9], U17 [n = 9], U15 [n = 9]). Training volumes were similar between groups (40 sprints per week x 30 weeks = 1200 sprints per season). Pre and post training, all players performed tests for the assessment of linear and slalom sprint speed (5-m and 10-m), countermovement jump, and maximal aerobic speed performance. Results For all physical fitness measures, the baseline-adjusted means data (ANCOVA) across the age groups showed no significant differences between LST and CODST at post (0.061 < p < 0.995; 0.0017 < d < 1.01). The analyses of baseline-adjusted means for all physical fitness measures for U15, U17, and U19 (LST vs. CODST) revealed no significant differences between LST and CODST for U15 (0.213 < p < 0.917; 0.001 < d < 0.087), U17 (0.132 < p < 0.976; 0.001 < d < 0.310), and U19 (0.300 < p < 0.999; 0.001 < d < 0.049) at post. Conclusions The results from this study showed that both, LST and CODST induced significant changes in the sprint, lower limbs power, and aerobic performances in young elite soccer players. Since no significant differences were observed between LST and CODST, the observed changes are most likely due to training and/or maturation. Abstract: Motivation: Understanding the mechanisms by which the zebrafish pectoral fin develops is expected to produce insights on how vertebrate limbs grow from a 2D cell layer to a 3D structure. Two mechanisms have been proposed to drive limb morphogenesis in tetrapods: a growth-based morphogenesis with a higher proliferation rate at the distal tip of the limb bud than at the proximal side, and directed cell behaviors that include elongation, division and migration in a nonrandom manner. Based on quantitative experimental biological data at the level of individual cells in the whole developing organ, we test the conditions for the dynamics of pectoral fin early morphogenesis.Results: We found that during the development of the zebrafish pectoral fin, cells have a preferential elongation axis that gradually aligns along the proximodistal axis (PD) of the organ. Based on these quantitative observations, we build a center-based cell model enhanced with a polarity term and cell proliferation to simulate fin growth. Our simulations resulted in 3D fins similar in shape to the observed ones, suggesting that the existence of a preferential axis of cell polarization is essential to drive fin morphogenesis in zebrafish, as observed in the development of limbs in the mouse, but distal tip-based expansion is not.Availability: Upon publication, biological data will be available at http://bioemergences.eu/modelingFin, and source code at https://github.com/guijoe/MaSoFin.

Abstract: International audience; Many techniques for verifying properties of continuous-time systems are limited to systems of moderate size. In this paper, we propose an approach based on assume-guarantee contracts and compositional reasoning for verifying properties of a broad class of continuous-time systems consisting of interconnected components. The notion of assume-guarantee contracts makes it possible to divide responsibilities among the system components: a contract specifies the property that a component must fulfill under some assumptions on the behavior of its environment (i.e. of the other components). We define weak and strong semantics of assume-guarantee contracts. We then establish a certain number of results for compositional reasoning, which allow us to show that a global assume-guarantee contract of the whole system is satisfied when all components satisfy their own contracts. We show that the weak satisfaction of the contract is sufficient to deal with interconnections described by a directed acyclic graph, while strong satisfaction is needed to reason about general interconnections containing cycles. Specific results for systems described by differential inclusions and invariance assume-guarantee contracts are then developed. Finally, we show how the proposed assume-guarantee framework can recast different versions of the small-gain theorem as a particular case. Throughout the paper, the main results are illustrated using simple examples.

Abstract: User-de ned higher-order rewrite rules are becoming a standard in proof assistants based on intuitionistic type theory. is raises the question of proving that they preserve the properties of β-reductions for the corresponding type systems. In a series of papers, we develop techniques based on van Oostrom's decreasing diagrams that reduce con uence proofs to the checking of various forms of critical pairs for higher-order rewrite rules extending beta-reduction on pure lambda-terms. As shown in a previous paper of the two middle authors, con uence of a terminating set of le-linear rewrite rules is obtained when their critical pairs are joinable, beta-rewrite steps being disallowed. e present paper concentrates on the case where arbitrary beta-rewrite steps are allowed for joining critical pars. e rewrite relation used for analyzing con uence, called orthogonal, gives rise to critical pairs, called nested, that overlap both horizontally, as with parallel rewriting, but also vertically, forming chains of successive overlaps. is second paper terminates our investigation of con uence in the case of le-linear rules.

Abstract: International audience; Background: The aim of this study was to compare the effects of 8 weeks resistance training (RT) with two sessions versus four sessions per week under volume load-equated conditions on body composition, maximal strength, and explosive actions performance in recreationally trained men. Methods: Thirty-five healthy young men participated in the study and were randomly divided into a two sessions per-week RT (RT2, n = 12), four sessions per-week RT (RT4, n = 13) or a control group (CG, n = 10). All subjects were evaluated for thigh, chest and arm circumference, countermovement jump (CMJ), medicine ball throw (MBT), 1-repetition maximum (1RM) leg press, bench press, arm curl, muscular endurance (i.e., 60% of 1RM to failure) for leg press, and bench press at pre, mid (week 4) and post an 8-week training intervention. Results: A two-way analysis of variance with repeated measures (3 [group] x 3 [time]) revealed that both training groups increased chest and thigh circumferences, strength and explosive actions performance tests in comparison to CG following 8 weeks of training (p = 0.01 to 0.04). Group x time interactions were also noted in 1RM bench press (effects size [ES] = 1.07 vs. 0.89) and arm curl (ES = 1.15 vs. 0.89), with greater gains for RT4 than RT2 (p = 0.03). Conclusion: RT improved muscle strength, explosive actions performance and markers of muscle size in recreationally trained men; however, four sessions of resistance training per week produced greater gains in muscular strength for the upper body measures (i.e., 1RM bench press and arm curl) when compared to two sessions per week under volume-equated conditions.

Abstract: This work aims to interpolate parametrized Reduced Order Model (ROM) basis constructed via the Proper Orthogonal Decomposition (POD) to derive a robust ROM of the system's dynamics for an unseen target parameter value. A novel non-intrusive Space-Time (ST) POD basis interpolation scheme is proposed, for which we define ROM spatial and temporal basis \emph{curves on compact Stiefel manifolds}. An interpolation is finally defined on a \emph{mixed part} encoded in a square matrix directly deduced using the space part, the singular values and the temporal part, to obtain an interpolated snapshot matrix, keeping track of accurate space and temporal eigenvectors. Moreover, in order to establish a well-defined curve on the compact Stiefel manifold, we introduce a new procedure, the so-called oriented SVD. Such an oriented SVD produces unique right and left eigenvectors for generic matrices, for which all singular values are distinct. It is important to notice that the ST POD basis interpolation does not require the construction and the subsequent solution of a reduced-order FEM model as classically is done. Hence it is avoiding the bottleneck of standard POD interpolation which is associated with the evaluation of the nonlinear terms of the Galerkin projection on the governing equations. As a proof of concept, the proposed method is demonstrated with the adaptation of rigid-thermoviscoplastic finite element ROMs applied to a typical nonlinear open forging metal forming process. Strong correlations of the ST POD models with respect to their associated high-fidelity FEM counterpart simulations are reported, highlighting its potential use for near real-time parametric simulations using off-line computed ROM POD databases.

Abstract: The scientific monitoring of athletes is fundamental to determine and understand the individual biological responses to training (Halson, 2014). In elite sports, it is crucial to regularly monitor training and performance to detect biopositive or negative responses that can be used to effectively program training according to the needs of each athlete (Bourdon et al., 2017). Moreover, workload monitoring can also help to assess fatigue and indicate the need for recovery in different physically demanding situations to ultimately avoid injuries (Halson, 2014). As there is evidence that lower injury rates are associated with higher team sport performances (Eirale et al., 2013), sport scientists and medical staff should regularly and accurately evaluate athletes' injury risk using workload measures (Halson, 2014). Based on Banister et al. (1975) fitness and fatigue model, Gabbett et al. (2016) introduced the concept of the acute:chronic workload ratio (ACWR) with acute workload hypothetically representing the fatigue component and chronic workload the fitness component of Banister's model (Figure 1). ACWR allows individualized performance development and injury prevention using the relation between acute to chronic workload data. For this purpose, internal (e.g., heart rate, session-rate of perceived exertion [sRPE] × duration) and external (e.g., performance measures, tracking variables such as running speed and/or acceleration using Global Positioning Systems [GPS]) load measures should be collected to compute ACWR during training and competition (Malone et al., 2017). It has previously been recommended to determine the ratio between acute (training load accumulated during the last 7 days) and chronic (mean training load over the previous 3 to 6 weeks) workloads (Gabbett et al., 2016; Gabbett and Whiteley, 2017). The underlying rationale is that athletes' physical fitness develops adequately if the chronic load progressively increases to high levels while the acute load remains below, similar to, or slightly above the chronic workload (i.e., ACWR range between 0.8 and 1.3). Conversely, the athlete is considered not well-prepared and likely at an increased risk of sustaining acute or overuse injuries if the acute workload exceeds the chronic load (i.e., ACWR ≥ 1.5) (Malone et al., 2017; Windt and Gabbett, 2017). Abstract: International audience; BackgroundResearchers worldwide are actively engaging in research activities to search for preventive and therapeutic interventions against COVID-19. Our aim was to describe the planning of randomized controlled trials (RCTs) in terms of timing related to the course of the COVID-19 epidemic and research question evaluated.MethodWe performed a living mapping of RCTs registered in the WHO International Clinical Trials Registry Platform. We systematically search the platform every week for all RCTs evaluating preventive interventions and treatments for COVID-19 and created a publicly available interactive mapping tool at https://covid-nma.com to visualize all trials registered.ResultsBy August 12, 2020, 1,568 trials for COVID-19 were registered worldwide. Overall, the median ([Q1-Q3]; range) delay between the first case recorded in each country and the first RCT registered was 47 days ([33-67]; 15-163). For the 9 countries with the highest number of trials registered, most trials were registered after the peak of the epidemic (from 100% trials in Italy to 38% in the United States). Most trials evaluated treatments (1,333 trials; 85%); only 223 (14%) evaluated preventive strategies and 12 post-acute period intervention. A total of 254 trials were planned to assess different regimens of hydroxychloroquine with an expected sample size of 110,883 patients.ConclusionThis living mapping analysis showed that COVID-19 trials have relatively small sample size with certain redundancy in research questions. Most trials were registered when the first peak of the pandemic have passed.

A multidimensional analytical framework articulating the macro, meso and micro levels has been developed in order to apprehend this activity by taking into account the socio-historical context in which it is deployed. It allows us to reveal the relationships and tensions between these three levels. On the theoretical level, it has been developed and enriched by the contributions of various academic works carried out in the fields of educational sciences, information and communication sciences, organizational sciences, and the history of knowledge, sciences and technologies. It has enabled us to develop a network of concepts that shed light on our subject. Methodologically, we have used this framework to conduct empirical investigations based on qualitative methodologies. These have led to the development of three corpora. Two corpuses are based on teachers' discourses. The first is the result of an ethnographic investigation in a high school. The second is based on elements of discourse from teachers’ network websites concerning the organization of resources and the mobilization of management tools. The last corpus is based on an analysis of the offer of digital tools and services for the organization of resources, or presenting functionalities dedicated to the organization of resources. Finally, we undertook the development of two glossaries to embrace the key notions and concepts used in this research. Our analyses underline the complexity of the resource organization activity. The latter is based on several actions relying on a vast hybrid tooling (paper and digital) and manifesting itself through forms of do-it-yourself. It also covers several dimensions: practical, affective, biographical and intimate. Our thesis shows that this activity, which could be thought of as trivial and secondary, plays on the contrary an important role in the process of appropriation and construction of knowledge, and that it is through this process that teachers can be ressourcefullness, and thus build and establish their legitimacy as professionals in the making and in development., L'exercice du métier enseignant s'appuie sur un certain nombre de ressources nécessaires à la préparation des cours. Leurs modes de circulation et d'appropriation constituent un enjeu pour l'ensemble des acteurs du secteur éducatif. Les évolutions en lien avec le développement du numérique posent également, de manière de plus en plus pressante, la question de la façon dont ils les organisent. Notre thèse étudie ces pratiques d’organisation. Un cadre d'analyse multidimensionnel articulant les niveaux macro, méso et micro a été construit afin d'appréhender cette activité en tenant compte du contexte socio-historique dans lequel elle se déploie. Il permet de mettre à jour les relations et tensions entre ces trois niveaux. Ces enquêtes ont donné lieu à l'élaboration de trois corpus. Deux corpus s'appuient sur les discours des enseignants. Le premier est issu d'une enquête de type ethnographique dans un lycée. Le deuxième repose sur des éléments de discours de sites web de réseaux enseignants concernant l'organisation des ressources et la mobilisation d'outils de gestion. Le dernier corpus est fondé sur une analyse de l’offre d’outils et de services numériques pour l’organisation des ressources, ou présentant des fonctionnalités dédiées à l’organisation des ressources. Enfin, nous avons entrepris l’élaboration de deux glossaires pour embrasser les notions et concepts-clés utilisés dans cette recherche. Nos analyses soulignent la complexité de l'activité d'organisation des ressources. Cette dernière repose sur plusieurs actions s'appuyant sur un vaste outillage hybride (papier et numérique) et se manifestant par des formes de bricolages. Elle recouvre également plusieurs dimensions : pratique, affective, biographique et intime. Notre thèse montre que cette activité, que l’on pourrait penser triviale et secondaire, joue au contraire un rôle important dans le processus d'appropriation et de construction des connaissances, et que c'est à travers ce processus que les enseignants peuvent avoir de la ressource, et ainsi construire et asseoir leur légitimité en tant que professionnels de l'enseignement en devenir et en développement.

Abstract: International audience; Background Ageing is accompanied by decreases in physical capacity and physiological regulatory mechanisms including altered hormonal regulation compared with age-matched sedentary people. The potential benefits of exercise in restoring such altered hormone production and secretion compared to age-matched physically inactive individuals who are ageing remains unclear. Objectives The aim of this systematic review was to summarise the findings of exercise training in modulating levels of ostensibly anabolic and catabolic hormones in adults aged > 40 years. Methods We searched the following electronic databases (to July 2021) without a period limit: Cochrane Library, PubMed, Science Direct, Scopus, SPORTDiscus and Web of Science. Additionally, a manual search for published studies in Google Scholar was conducted for analysis of the 'grey literature' (information produced outside of traditional commercial or academic publishing and distribution channels). Only eligible full texts in English or French were considered for analysis. Results Our search identified 484 records, which led to 33 studies for inclusion in the analysis. Different exercise training programs were used with nine studies using endurance training programs, ten studies examining the effects of high-intensity interval training, and 14 studies investigating the effects of resistance training. Most training programs lasted >= 2 weeks. Studies, regardless of the design, duration or intensity of exercise training, reported increases in testosterone, sex hormone-binding globulin (SHBG), insulin-like growth factor-1 (IGF-1), human growth hormone (hGH) or dehydroepiandrosterone (DHEA) (effect size: 0.19 < d < 3.37, small to very large) in both older males and females. However, there was no consensus on the effects of exercise on changes in cortisol and insulin in older adults. Conclusion In conclusion, findings from this systematic review suggest that exercise training increases basal levels of testosterone, IGF-1, SHBG, hGH and DHEA in both male and females over 40 years of age. The increases in blood levels of these hormones were independent of the mode, duration and intensity of the training programs. However, the effects of long-term exercise training on cortisol and insulin levels in elderly people are less clear.

Abstract: International audience; This paper presents a symbolic control approach to the design of distributed safety controllers for a class of continuous-time nonlinear systems. More precisely, we consider systems made of components where each component is equipped with a sampled-data controller with its own sampling period, resulting globally in a distributed multiperiodic sampled-data system. Moreover, controllers receive partial information on the state of the other components. We propose a component-based approach to controller synthesis, which relies on the use of abstractions and continuous-time assume-guarantee contracts. The abstractions describe the dynamics of the system from the point of view of each component based on the information structure, while assume-guarantee contracts specify guarantees that a component must satisfy if assumptions on the other components are met. We show that our approach makes it possible to decompose a global safety control problem into local ones that can be solved independently. We then show how symbolic control techniques can be used to synthesize controllers that enforce the local control objectives. Illustrative applications in building automation and vehicle platooning are shown.

Abstract: International audience; This paper addresses structured scatter matrix estimation within the non convex set of Kronecker product structure. The latter model usually involves two matrices , which can be themselves linearly constrained, and arises in many applications, such as MIMO communication , MEG/EEG data analysis. Taking this prior knowledge into account generally improves estimation accuracy. In the framework of robust estimation, the t-distribution is particularly suited to model heavy-tailed data. In this context, we introduce an estimator of the scatter matrix, having a Kronecker product structure and potential linear structured factors. In addition, we show that the proposed method yields a consistent and efficient estimate.

Abstract: Background: It is well known that exercise training has positive effects on both cardiac autonomic function and arterial stiffness (AS). However, it is not clear that which exercise training variables, intensity or volume, or both, play a crucial role in this regard. This study investigates the chronic effects of high-volume moderate-intensity training (HVMIT) and low-volume high-intensity training (LVHIT) on heart rate variability (HRV) and AS in sedentary adult men.Materials and Methods: Notably, 45 males (age: 42 ± 5.7 years) were randomly assigned to a control (n = 15), HVMIT (n = 15), or LVHIT (n = 15). The HVMIT group ran three times per week on a treadmill at 50–60% of VO2max for 45–60 min, while the LVHIT trained at 70–85% of VO2max for 25–40 min. Both training protocols were equated by caloric expenditure. HRV, pulse wave velocity (PWV), hemodynamic variables, and body composition were measured before and after 12 weeks.Results: Both protocols (i.e., HVMIT and LVHIT) significantly increased the SD of normal sinus beat intervals (SDNN) and high-frequency (HF) bands (p < 0.05) after 12 weeks. Whereas the low-frequency (LF)-HF ratio decreased significantly in both training protocols (p < 0.05); however, these changes were significantly greater in the LVHIT protocol (p < 0.05). Furthermore, the root mean square of successive RR interval differences (RMSSD) significantly increased only in the LVHIT (p < 0.05). Moreover, a significant decrease in LF and PWV was only observed following the LVHIT protocol (p < 0.05). Some measures of HRV and PWV were significantly correlated (r = 0.275–0.559; p < 0.05).Conclusion: These results show that the LVHIT protocol was more efficient for improving HRV variables and PWV than the HVMIT protocol after 12 weeks of continuous running training. Interestingly, changes in some HRV parameters were related to changes in PWV. Further studies should elaborate on the link between central and peripheral cardiovascular adaptations after continuous and intermittent training regimens differing in intensity.

Abstract: International audience; The electromagnetic response of concrete can be used to the non-destructive testing of structures and to follow early-age property development. Fundamental understanding of the physical origins of the electromagnetic response of cement-based materials is critical to reduce the empirism in the interpretation of electromagnetic-based techniques. The pore solution is the main contribution to the electrical conductivity and dielectric response of porous geomaterials. Specific ion effects are known to impact the dynamics of ions in aqueous salt solutions. In this context, molecular dynamics (MD) simulation is a well-suited technique to compute and understand how the ionic composition of the pore solution affects the electromagnetic properties of concrete. Here, we discuss recent results of MD simulation on bulk solution mimicking concrete pore solution. Then, we upscale the information from the molecular scale up to the concrete scale in order to provide a multiscale model of the electrical conductivity and frequency-dependent dielectric response of cement-based materials.

Abstract: International audience; We introduce a goal-oriented strategy for multiscale computations performed using the Multiscale Finite Element Method (MsFEM). In a previous work, we have shown how to use, in the MsFEM framework, the concept of Constitutive Relation Error (CRE) to obtain a guaranteed and fully computable a posteriori error estimate in the energy norm (as well as error indicators on various error sources). Here, the CRE concept is coupled with the solution of an adjoint problem to control the error and drive an adaptive procedure with respect to a given output of interest. Furthermore, a local and non-intrusive enrichment technique is proposed to enhance the accuracy of error bounds. The overall strategy, which is fully automatic and robust, enables to reach an appropriate trade-off between certified reliability and computational cost in the MsFEM context. The performances of the proposed method are investigated on several illustrative numerical test cases. In particular, the error estimation is observed to be very accurate, yielding a very efficient adaptive procedure.

Abstract: Highlights • Towards a large-Scale Integration of Renewable Energies in Morocco. • Current status of major RE projects in Morocco. • Key elements for successful transformation of the power system., Renewable energies are a sustainable, unlimited and decarbonised solution to address future energy challenges. In this context, Morocco has a considerable advantage to position itself on this promising market. Furthermore, renewable energies have been highlighted as a key strategic source for the country's green growth. Morocco has adopted the renewable energy path through a strategy targeted on the development of solar, wind and hydroelectric power to boost its energy policy by adapting it to the challenges posed by today's world. Nowadays, Morocco is facing a challenge to reach 52% by 2030 of its total renewable energy capacity, which will exceed 42% by the end of 2020. The main objective of this paper is to study a scenario for 2030 for the Moroccan electricity system and to identify the challenges that need to be addressed in order to accelerate the integration of renewable energies in the Moroccan energy mix and to achieve a possible export of such green energy towards Europe.

Abstract: Bayesian neural networks (BNNs) have been long considered an ideal, yet unscalable solution for improving the robustness and the predictive uncertainty of deep neural networks. While they could capture more accurately the posterior distribution of the network parameters, most BNN approaches are either limited to small networks or rely on constraining assumptions such as parameter independence. These drawbacks have enabled prominence of simple, but computationally heavy approaches such as Deep Ensembles, whose training and testing costs increase linearly with the number of networks. In this work we aim for efficient deep BNNs amenable to complex computer vision architectures, e.g. ResNet50 DeepLabV3+, and tasks, e.g. semantic segmentation, with fewer assumptions on the parameters. We achieve this by leveraging variational autoencoders (VAEs) to learn the interaction and the latent distribution of the parameters at each network layer. Our approach, Latent-Posterior BNN (LP-BNN), is compatible with the recent BatchEnsemble method, leading to highly efficient ({in terms of computation and} memory during both training and testing) ensembles. LP-BNN s attain competitive results across multiple metrics in several challenging benchmarks for image classification, semantic segmentation and out-of-distribution detection., 16 pages
