In this study, Polyimide(PI)/clay hybrids were prepared by blending of poly(amic acid) and organically modified clay as a type of layered clays. Chemical structures of polyimide and Polyimide/ phosphonium modified clay hybrids were characterized by FTIR, TGA and SEM. Thermal properties were examined by TGA. Their surface morphologies were investigated by SEM.

ÖZETYENİ YÜKSEK PERFORMANSLI POLİİMİDLERİN SENTEZİ VE KARAKTERİZASYONUAromatik poliimidler, gösterdikleri üstün termal, mekanik ve kimyasal davranışlarından dolayı birçok potansiyel uygulamanın yanısıra, gaz ayırma membranlarından, yakıt pili ugulamalarına, elektrik-elektronik sektöründen, optik malzemelerin geliştirilmesine, uzay ve havacılık sanayinden, askeri malzemelerin üretimine kadar çok geniş ve farklı alanlarda kullanım potansiyeline sahip yüksek performanslı polimerlerdendirler. Günümüzde poliimidler konusundaki çalışmalar genellikle yeni tip monomerler kullanılarak çeşitli poliimidlerin sentezlenmesi ya da çeşitli poliimid kompozitlerinin hazırlanması ve özelliklerinin incelenmesi üzerinde yoğunlaşmaktadır.Bu çalışmada, flor ve fosfor içeren yüksek performanslı poliimidlerin sentezlenmesi amaçlanmıştır. Bunun için yukarıda değinilen her iki stratejide yüksek performanslı yeni poliimidlerin hazırlanılmasında kullanılmıştır. Öncelikle boron fosfat içeren poliimid kompozitleri hazırlanmış ve bu kompozitlerin termal, mekanik, optik ve proton iletkenlik özellikleri incelenmiştir. Elde edilen kompozit malzemelerin yüksek termal dayanıma ve yanmazlığa sahip oldukları ve aynı zamanda proton iletebildikleri belirlenmiştir.Çalışmanın ikinci kısmında ise literatürde bulunmayan yeni tip bir alifatik flor grubu içeren fosfinoksit diamin monomeri sentezlenmiştir. Sentezlenen bileşik, mDA13FPO, FT-IR, 1H-NMR, 31P-NMR ve 19F-NMR yöntemleri ile karakterize edilmiştir. Daha sonra mDA13FPO bileşiği ile BTDA, 6FDA, ODPA ve PMDA dianhidritlerden çıkılarak dört farklı homopoliimid termal ve çözelti imidizasyon teknikleriyle sentezlenmiştir. Ayrıca ODA ve BTDA kullanılarak yine mDA13FPO içeren kopoliimidler başarıyla sentezlenmiştir. Hazırlanan bu yeni homo ve kopoliimidlerin üstün termo-oksidatif kararlılık ve yanma direnci gösterdikleri belirlenmiştir. Ayrıca artan flor oranı ile poliimidler daha hidrofobik bir karakter sergilemişlerdir. Çözelti imidizasyonu ile sentezlenen poliimidlerin ise birçok polar çözücüde çözünür oldukları da gösterilmiştir. ABSTRACTSYNTHESIS AND CHARACTERIZATION OF NOVEL HIGH PERFORMANCE POLYIMIDESBesides their potential applications, aromatic polyimides have a wide range of uses, from gas separation membranes to fuel cell applications, from electric-electronic industry to optic materials, from aerospace industry to military applications due to their outstanding thermal, mechanical and chemical properties. Today, studies concerning polyimides mainly focus on the synthesis of polyimides by using new type of monomers or on the preparation of novel polyimide composites.In this study it was aimed to synthesize fluorine and phosphorous containing high performance polyimides. Therefore, both the above stated strategies were applied for the preparation of novel high performance polyimides. In the first stage of the study novel boronphosphate/polyimide composites were prepared and several properties of these composites were investigated, such as thermal, mechanical, optical and proton conductivity properties. It was found that these composites had high thermal stability, flame retardancy and proton conductivity.In the second part of this study an aliphatic fluorous chain containing novel phosphineoxide diamine monomer (non-existent in literature) was synthesized. Synthesized monomer, mDA13FPO, was charaterized by FT-IR, 1H-NMR, 31P-NMR and 19F-NMR techniques. Then four different homopolyimides were synthesized via thermal and solution imidization techniques by reacting mDA13FPO with BTDA, 6FDA, ODPA and PMDA dianhydrides, respectively. Moreover mDA13FPO containing copolyimides were successfully prepared by using ODA and BTDA. These novel homo amd copolyimides exhibited high thermal stability and high flame retardancy. Furthermore as the fluorine percentage increased, polyimides showed enhanced hydrophobic character. Also solution imidized polyimides were found to be soluble in several polar solvents.
