Introducción. El maltrato a la infancia y la adolescencia es un problema a nivel mundial que tiene graves consecuencias que pueden durar toda la vida. La detección y evaluación eficaz del maltrato infantil se considera esencial para facilitar el proceso de toma de decisiones profesional. No obstante, en la actualidad, la descentralización de la atención, la falta de rigurosidad científica y objetiva en los diagnósticos y las evaluaciones parciales y fragmentadas pueden dificultar la adopción de medidas de protección efectivas. Objetivo. El objetivo de este estudio es presentar el proceso de diseño de la herramienta DAP 360º, creada para colaborar en el juicio profesional para la evaluación y declaración de riesgo y/o desprotección en la infancia y adolescencia. Metodología. El diseño empleado corresponde al desarrollo de escalas e incluye tres pasos fundamentales: construcción de ítems, análisis teórico y evaluación psicométrica. Para ello, se han combinado técnicas cualitativas y cuantitativas en la que han participado más de 300 profesionales y personas expertas que trabajan en servicios de atención a niños, niñas y adolescentes (NNA) de diferentes ámbitos de intervención en la Comunidad Valenciana (España). Resultados. DAP 360º se ha diseñado en formato rúbrica y estructurado en torno a dos secciones principales, 15 dimensiones y 97 indicadores de riesgo y protección. El desarrollo de esta herramienta permite establecer un diagnóstico completo de todas las áreas tanto de riesgo como también de protección de niños, niñas y adolescentes. Es un instrumento riguroso, consistente y fiable respecto a las situaciones de riesgo en la infancia y la adolescencia, identificando rangos de gravedad de la situación por la que atraviesa el NNA y unificando las diferentes áreas que evolucionan desde el riesgo a la desprotección del NNA, añadiendo, además, factores protectores para equilibrar las circunstancias de riesgo. DAP 360º articula, mediante una herramienta de software, la evaluación del riesgo y/o desprotección de la infancia y la adolescencia, la coordinación en tiempo real de profesionales e instituciones, el establecimiento de rangos de gravedad y la ponderación de factores protectores y de riesgo sobre el diagnóstico, y enlaza objetivos de intervención con áreas y servicios responsables de la misma. Conclusiones. La creación de instrumentos de evaluación válidos y fiables permite agilizar los procesos diagnósticos, invierte en la prevención, y garantiza la toma de decisiones respaldada en evidencias objetivas y coordinada entre diferentes profesionales, servicios y niveles de intervención. Asimismo, la detección y evaluación eficaz del riesgo y la desprotección en la infancia y la adolescencia permite sistematizar intervenciones, reevaluar casos y desarrollar actuaciones de éxito ajustadas a las necesidades del momento. La evaluación por diferentes profesionales en tiempo real es un factor determinante, ya que permite diseñar intervenciones de acuerdo con las potencialidades y déficits que se manifiestan. Esto tendrá implicaciones significativas para la calidad de vida y el bienestar de niños, niñas y adolescentes y sus familias. Introduction. Child maltreatment is a worldwide problem with serious consequences that can last a lifetime. It is essential to efficiently detect and assess child maltreatment to optimise professional decision-making processes. Nonetheless, the decentralisation of services, a lack of scientific and objective rigour in diagnoses together with partial and disrupted assessments can hinder the adoption of effective protection measures. Aim. The objective of this study was to present the design and content validation process of the DAP 360º, a tool designed to complement professional assessment and declaration of risk/vulnerability in childhood and adolescence. Methodology. The study applied scale development design and included three main steps: item construction, theoretical analysis, and psychometric assessment. We combined qualitative and quantitative techniques. More than 300 professionals and experts working in different child and adolescent care services in the Valencian Community participated in this process. Results. DAP 360º is a modular tool structured into two main sections, 15 dimensions, and 97 risk and protection indicators. This tool allows professionals to establish a complete diagnosis of all risk and protection areas of children and adolescents. It is a rigorous, consistent, and reliable instrument for the assessment of risk situations in childhood and adolescence. It allows the identification of the severity ranges of the situations faced by the child/adolescent and the unification of the different areas ranging from risk to vulnerability. Additionally, the tool contemplates protective factors that could compensate risks. DAP 360º brings together, via a software tool, the assessment of risk and/or vulnerability in childhood and adolescence, the real-time coordination of professionals and institutions, the establishment of ranges of severity – as it balances protective and risk factors in the diagnosis –, and links intervention objectives with the responsible services and resources. Conclusions. The construction of valid and reliable assessment instruments promotes faster diagnostic processes, allows to invest in prevention, and warrants more objective decision making, fostering a better coordination among professionals, resources and intervention levels. Moreover, efficient risk and vulnerability detection and assessment in childhood and adolescence permits better structuring of interventions, case reassessments, and the development of successful action plans according to each specific case. The assessment by different professionals in real time is a determinant factor, given that it allows designing interventions in line with manifested capabilities and shortfalls. The effects on the quality of life and well-being of children and adolescents, as well as of their families will be significant. BackgroundChild maltreatment is a significant global problem concerning over 25% of children around the world. Traditionally, the assessment of children’s welfare was characterized by the creation of instruments and models from the deficit-based theoretical framework.PurposeThis study aims to develop an instrument to measure protective factors (the Adolescent and Children Risk of Abuse and Maltreatment Protective Factors Scale, ACRAM-PFS) and gather evidence on its psychometric properties. ACRAM-PFS is an 18-items scale for the assessment of protective factors of child maltreatment developed from the socioecological framework.MethodStructural validity, reliability and convergent-related validity were studied for this measure in a sample of 616 children and adolescents, with age ranging from 0 to 18 years old (M = 12.14; SD = 5.22). Cases were informed by 286 child welfare workers. The sample was split in two subsamples, one to perform an Exploratory Factor Analysis (EFA) and the second to perform a Confirmatory Factor Analysis (CFA).ResultsThe CFA corroborate the three-factor structure that includes the children and adolescents’ resources, the family/caregiver’s resources and the community resources (χ2 = 278.005, df = 132,p DiscussionThe results support that ACRAM-PFS is a rigorous measure for assessing protective factors for child maltreatment. (1) Background: This study aims to examine and describe the policies of three Latin American countries: Colombia, Brazil, and Spain, and identify how they implement their support systems for health, mental health, mental health for children and adolescents, and juvenile justice systems that support judicial measures with treatment and/or therapeutic approaches specialized in mental health. (2) Methods: Google Scholar, Medline, and Scopus databases were searched to identify and synthesize of the literature. (3) Results: Three shared categories were extracted to construct the defining features of public policies on mental health care in juvenile justice: (i.) models of health and mental health care, (ii.) community-based child and adolescent mental health care, and (iii.) mental health care and treatment in juvenile justice. (4) Conclusions: Juvenile justice in these three countries lacks a specialized system to deal with this problem, nor have procedures been designed to specifically address these situations within the framework of children’s rights.

Understanding the construct of romantic love is an important task in societies all around the world. However, instruments designed to assess this construct are scarce and most of them were developed more than a decade ago. De la Peña, Ramos, Luzón, and Recio (2011) proposed the Myths, Fallacies and Erroneous Beliefs about the Ideal of Romantic Love Scale. In this current study we provide the psychometric properties of this scale in a representative sample of adolescents. The analytic strategy included both Exploratory Factor Analysis and Confirmatory Factor Analysis. We achieved a best-factor structure using a unidimensional model of romantic beliefs which also had an adequate estimated reliability. In agreement with descriptions in the existing academic literature, the resulting romantic beliefs factor was significantly related to hostile and benevolent sexism, although slightly less so in the latter case. Finally, differential validity was examined using 'gender' and 'having a partner' as independent variables; the differences in romantic beliefs according to these variables also agreed with previous reports in the literature. We provide a thorough discussion of our results and highlight the implications of our findings for clinical practice.

The aim of this systematic integrative review is to analyse the challenges and barriers found in mental healthcare systems and the impact they have on the family. Searches were made of the Web of Science, Scopus, Medline and Cochrane databases using terms relating to mental health, family care and healthcare systems. We included and critically evaluated studies published in English between 2015 and 2019 that directly or indirectly analysed public mental health policies and the consequences they have for the family. We analysed our findings following the inductive content analysis approach. A total of 32 articles that met quality indicators were identified. Very closely related structural, cultural, economic and healthcare barriers were found that contribute to the treatment gap in mental health. The family covers the care systems' deficiencies and weaknesses, and this leads to overload and a diminishing quality of life for caregivers. It is acknowledged that people with mental illness and their families should be able to participate in the development of policies and thus contribute to strengthening mental healthcare systems worldwide.

Se realizó un estudio comparativo descriptivo de las políticas de atención de salud mental dirigidas a adolescentes en conflicto con la ley en Brasil y España. Se realizaron búsquedas en las bases de datos Google Académico, Medline y Scopus utilizando dos estrategias de búsqueda integral para identificar y sintetizar la literatura. Se identificaron tres categorías principales que permiten definir y analizar las políticas de atención a la salud mental dirigidas a adolescentes en conflicto con la ley en Brasil y España: 1) modelos de atención a la salud y salud mental, 2) redes de atención a la salud mental infanto-juvenil, y 3) atención de salud mental a adolescentes en conflicto con la ley. Los sistemas de salud mental de niños y adolescentes españoles y brasileños aún no están consolidados ni cuentan con recursos suficientes para satisfacer las necesidades de la población. A descriptive comparative study of mental health care policies focused on adolescents in conflict with the law in Brazil and Spain was conducted. The search was performed in Google Academic, Medline and Scopus databases using two comprehensive search strategies were used. Este artículo presenta la percepción de profesionales-expertos y de adolescentes del África Occidental sobre su proceso migratorio, y su paso por España cuando se dirigen hacia Europa. Tiene por objetivo 1) identificar estímulos para migrar, 2) analizar la influencia de la familia en la toma de decisión y 3) señalar condicionantes del proceso migratorio. Se utilizaron técnicas cualitativas como relato de vida, panel de profesionales-expertos, Delphi y DAFO. Los resultados profundizan en la escasez de recursos económicos familiares, el estatus de adulto que el adolescente recibe en origen, bajos ingresos y escasa cualificación como estímulos motivacionales para decidir migrar. Como conclusión, se identifica esta migración construida en idénticos parámetros que de adultos. Se hallaron percepciones diferentes entre adolescentes y profesionales en cuanto a las remesas y la influencia familiar para migrar. Como implicaciones para la práctica se detectó la necesidad de especializar a los profesionales del sistema de protección que atienden estos adolescentes.

La creciente importancia de las enfermedades crónicas como causa de muerte y la atención que actualmente se presta al final de la vida han creado interés en el papel de las disciplinas sociosanitarias en el momento y el modo de muerte. En la actualidad, pocos países han legalizado o despenalizado la eutanasia y el suicidio asistido. Este artículo realiza una revisión narrativa con el objetivo de conocer los aspectos éticos y jurídicos que envuelven el derecho a morir dignamente, el suicidio asistido y la eutanasia en los países donde se han regulado estas prácticas, así como su vinculación con los principios éticos inherentes al Trabajo Social. Los resultados muestran que estas prácticas deben considerarse como derecho individual regido por el principio de autodeterminación de cada persona. El Trabajo Social, como disciplina que vela por los derechos humanos, debe garantizar la voluntad y las prioridades de las personas enfermas, ofreciendo orientación y apoyo y respetando su principio de autonomía., The increasing relevance of chronic diseases as cause of death, as well as a change about the focus on the end of life, have created an interest in the role that sociosanitary disciplines play at moment of die and way to die. Nowadays, there is only a few countries who have legalized or decriminalized euthanasia and assisted suicide. This article carries out a narrative review with the aim of knowing the ethical and legal aspects that involve the right to die with dignity, assisted suicide and euthanasia in the countries where these practices are regulated, and their relationship with the ethical principles inherent to Social Work. Results show that these practices are multifaced phenomena and that should be considered as an individual right governed by the principle of self-determination of each person. La investigación explora la relación entre sexismo y la distorsión en mitos del amor romántico en adolescentes que residen en Centros de Acogida de Menores en Valencia (España). El diseño de investigación fue descriptivo transversal con una muestra de 147 adolescentes. Los resultados reflejan una relación estadísticamente significativa que indica que, a mayor sexismo en los y las adolescentes, mayores son las distorsiones románticas. Se identificaron mayores niveles de sexismo hacia las mujeres y mitos del amor romántico en chicos, mientras que las mujeres mostraron mayores puntuaciones en las actitudes sexistas hacia los hombres. Se concluye que la vivencia de situaciones de violencia familiar no tiene un efecto significativo en la adopción de actitudes y creencias sexistas y románticas idealizadas en adolescentes institucionalizados. This study explores the relationship between sexism and the distortion of romantic love myths in adolescents living in residential childcare in Valencia (Spain). Research design was cross-sectional and descriptive with a sample of 147 adolescents. Results reflected a positive, statistically significant, relationship between sexism and romantic distortions. Boys exhibited higher levels of sexism towards women and romantic love myths, while girls showed higher scores of sexism attitudes towards men. It was concluded that having experienced family violence does not have a significant effect in adoption of sexist attitudes and false romantic beliefs in institutionalised adolescents. The objective of this research is to analyze several predictors of quality of life in aging people in different European regions. This is a cross-sectional study with the sixth wave of the SHARE project (Survey of Health, Ageing and Retirement in Europe). Several sociodemographic and economic indicators were utilized, as well as the CASP-12 (QoL), EURO-D (depressive symptoms) and SPHEU (self-perceived health). Analysis were performed by structural equation modelling techniques. Ten multigroup models were estimated. Results showed significative difference in the predictive capacity in all variables except for chronic diseases. The best predictor of quality of life in all European regions was absence of depression, followed by income, and self-perceived health. No significative differences among the predictive capacity of the number of chronic diseases was found among the assessed groups, although, perceiving ones’ health as good and being able to make ends meet were heavy predictors of quality of life., El objetivo de esta investigación es analizar los predictores de la calidad de vida en personas mayores en diferentes regiones europeas. Se trata de un estudio transversal con la sexta olea del proyecto SHARE (Survey of Health, Ageing and Retirement in Europe). Se utilizaron varios indicadores sociodemográficos y económicos, así como el CASP- 12 (QoL), EURO-D (síntomas depresivos) y SPHEU (salud autopercibida). Los análisis se realizaron mediante técnicas de modelado de ecuaciones estructurales. Se estimaron diez modelos multimuestra. Los resultados mostraron diferencia significativa en la capacidad predictiva en todas las variables excepto en las enfermedades crónicas. El mejor predictor de la calidad de vida en todas las regiones europeas fue la ausencia de depresión, seguido de los ingresos y la salud autopercibida. No se encontraron diferencias significativas entre la capacidad predictiva del número de enfermedades crónicas entre los grupos evaluados, aunque tener una buena salud se muestra como un factor importante para la calidad de vida. Nuestros resultados sugieren que, aunque la calidad de vida podría predecirse de manera desigual por diferentes factores en las cuatro regiones europeas, todos coinciden en estos tres factores principales: ausencia de depresión, ingresos y salud autopercibida. Estos hallazgos podrían ser útiles para desarrollar políticas personalizadas dirigidas a los principales factores para la mejora de la calidad de vida con el fin de promover un envejecimiento exitoso.

The present study evaluates the effectiveness of an intervention using a mobile app game aimed at reducing sexism in adolescents. A quasiexperimental pretest–posttest study is executed with intervention and control groups. The participants are 369 secondary school students from the province of Valencia, of whom 196 are assigned to intervention and 173 to control group. Hostile and benevolent sexism are assessed at both points in time using theory of ambivalent sexism. The two hours’ intervention involved explaining the game's dynamic, implementation and use. The results of applying the programme are evaluated of the two dimensions of sexism in two time periods. Intervention with the app brought about a significant change, reducing sexism in adolescents by between six and 12%. The study highlights the usefulness to make use of information and communications technology (ICT) as a tool for combating sexism and co-educating in equality using gaming strategies to develop non-sexist prosocial competencies.

Resumen El presente estudio evalua la eficacia de una intervencion consistente en el uso de una aplicacion movil en formato juego dirigida a reducir el sexismo en adolescentes. Se lleva a cabo un estudio cuasiexperimental pretest-postest con grupos de intervencion y de control. Participan 369 estudiantes de Educacion Secundaria Obligatoria de entre 12 y 17 anos de la provincia de Valencia, de los cuales 196 se asignan a la condicion de intervencion con la aplicacion y 173 al grupo control. Se evalua sexismo hostil y benevolo a partir de la teoria del sexismo ambivalente en ambos momentos temporales. La intervencion presencial, de dos h de duracion, consiste en explicar la dinamica e implementacion del juego que despues han de practicar. Los resultados de aplicacion del programa se evaluan sobre las dos dimensiones de sexismo. La intervencion con la aplicacion muestra un cambio significativo reduciendo entre un seis y un 12% el sexismo en adolescentes. Este estudio destaca la utilidad de integrar las TIC como herramientas para la prevencion y coeducacion en igualdad desde el ambito educativo, a partir de estrategias ludicas que permitan el desarrollo de competencias prosociales no sexistas.

This study focuses on the effectiveness of an app-based, monitored intervention using the Liad@s app in a residential youth-care setting. The aim of this intervention is to reduce maladaptive beliefs and attitudes linked to dating violence: distortions or myths about romantic love and hostile and benevolent dimensions of sexism. A quasi-experimental pre-post study with a control group was carried out. Participants were 71 adolescents from 9 group homes in Valencia (Spain). The outcomes measures were hostile and benevolent sexism (Ambivalent Sexism Inventory - ASI), ambivalence and prejudice towards men (Ambivalence toward Men Inventory - AMI), and myths about romantic love. The results of the intervention were assessed using multivariate analysis of variance (MANOVA). A post-intervention, statistically significant reduction with a medium-large effect size was observed in all dimensions for the treatment group, with eta-square of .25 for the sexism dimensions, .38 for myths, and .21 for ambivalence and prejudices. The experimental group demonstrated significantly more change than the control group on all measures. The benefits of the intervention did not vary by participants' sex. These results may be helpful to professionals involved in child and youth care, who can profit from adolescents' proclivity toward online communication.

Background The aim of the present study is to analyse the variables associated with the family care of people diagnosed with serious mental illness. Material and Methods A cross-sectional study was carried out involving caregivers of people with serious mental illness (SMI) who were known to the mental health services in Valencia (España) and associations for those with SMI. The sample comprised 417 caregivers who completed a sociodemographic questionnaire and the Zarit Burden Interview. Bivariate analyses (t-test, analysis of variance and Pearson correlation) were performed, as was a multiple linear regression model. Values of p< .05 were considered significant. The study was carried out in accordance with the recommendations of the ethics committees of the participating institutions. Results The statistical analyses showed significant associations between the sociodemographic and clinical variables of the caregivers and patients and the burden felt by caregivers of people with SMI. The importance of both formal and informal social support stands out as a protective factor against the consequences of the illness’s impact on the main caregiver. Conclusions The role of spaces of mutual support is crucial. The results suggest that family psychoeducational programmes should be created, applied and evaluated in all mental healthcare services so as to reinforce training in mental health matters and provide support and assessment to caregivers in order to ease their burden. Este trabajo examina el papel de los factores sociodemográficos como determinantes de las creencias y actitudes sexistas y las percepciones distorsionadas sobre el amor romántico, y analiza la relación entre el sexismo hostil y el sexismo benevolente y las creencias en mitos del amor romántico, según el Índice de Desigualdad de Género (idg), en una muestra de 203 adolescentes latinoamericanos residentes en Valencia (España). RESUMEN Objetivo Identificar el nivel de sobrecarga de los cuidadores y analizar los factores asociados con el cuidado familiar en salud mental. Método Se realizó un estudio descriptivo transversal realizado entre los meses de enero y julio del año 2016, en el que se evalúa una muestra de cuidadores de siete dispositivos públicos y una asociación de familiares y pacientes identificando la sobrecarga de los mismos y los factores que contribuyen a reducir estos niveles, a través del instrumento Zarit Burden Inventor y . El estudio se llevó a cabo de acuerdo a las recomendaciones de los comités de ética de las instituciones participantes. Resultados Participaron 107 cuidadores. Las principales aportaciones refieren que la participación activa del cuidador en dinámicas asociativas, la asistencia a actividades psicoeducativas y la vinculación territorial a áreas metropolitanas con recursos comunitarios, disminuyen el nivel de sobrecarga del cuidador. Conclusión Finalmente, destaca la importancia y responsabilidad de la enfermería comunitaria a efectos de prevenir los niveles de sobrecarga e incrementar los de salud; además, se realizan una serie de propuestas en la línea de favorecer redes de apoyo social, combinar tratamientos e incrementar los programas de salud pública en contacto con la comunidad. Método Foi realizado um estudo descritivo transversal entre os meses de janeiro e julho do ano 2016, no qual foi avaliada uma amostra de cuidadores de sete dispositivos públicos e uma associação de familiares e pacientes identificando a sobrecarga dos mesmos e os fatores que contribuem para reduzir esses níveis, por meio do instrumento Zarit Burden Inve ntory . O estudo foi realizado de acordo com as recomendações dos comitês de ética das instituições participantes. Resultados Participaram 107 cuidadores. As principais contribuições relatam que a participação ativa do cuidador em dinâmicas associativas, o comparecimento a atividades psicoeducacionais e o vínculo territorial a áreas metropolitanas com recursos comunitários diminuem o nível de sobrecarga do cuidador. Conclusão Finalmente, destaca a importância e responsabilidade da enfermagem comunitária com o objetivo de prevenir os níveis de sobrecarga e aumentar os de saúde; além disso, é realizada uma série de propostas no sentido de favorecer as redes de apoio social, combinar tratamentos e aumentar os programas de saúde pública em contato com a comunidade. ABSTRACT Objective To identify caregivers’ level of burden and analyze the factors associated with family care in mental health. Method A cross-sectional descriptive study was conducted between January and July 2016. A sample of caregivers from seven public institutions and an association of relatives and patients was evaluated by identifying their burden and the contributing factors for reduction of these levels through the Zarit Burden Inventory instrument. The study was conducted according to recommendations of the ethics committees of the participating institutions. Results Participation of 107 caregivers. The main contributions refer that caregivers’ active participation in associative dynamics, their attendance at psychoeducational activities and territorial connection to metropolitan areas with community resources decrease their level of burden. Conclusion Community nursing is highly important and responsible for preventing levels of burden and increasing health levels. In addition, many proposals are formulated in order to favor social support networks by combining treatments and increasing public health programs in contact with the community.

espanolEl presente trabajo pretende aproximar la perspectiva de los Adolescentes en Conflicto con la Ley (en adelante ACL) sobre su proceso reeducativo y de paulatina recuperacion de la libertad. ?Existe algun contexto para el aprendizaje mas complejo que el de una institucion que limita las libertades? Este trabajo proyecta que los contextos basados en metodologias de acompanamiento humano, vinculacion afectiva y socioeducativa, constituyen verdaderos espacios de transformacion y de empoderamiento de los ACL. Eleva la importancia del principio de resocializacion en la recuperacion de habitos prosociales de los delincuentes juveniles. Este articulo reproduce los resultados de una investigacion longitudinal en la que participaron 157 ACL ingresados entre los anos 2008 a 2012 en distintos centros publicos de Justicia Penal juvenil. El principio de resocializacion del ACL nace al albor de estrategias para la transformacion y aprendizaje desde contextos inclusivos. Por tanto, los recursos personales y ambientales, se fusionan en un proceso de intercambio que incide en la reflexion del individuo. Las vivencias de los ACL convergen con las practicas educativas recibidas. La tecnica etnografica del relato de vida nos traslada al imaginario analitico de los ACL. EnglishThis article seeks to bring the perspective of Adolescents in Conflict with the Law (hereinafter ACL) to the process of their re-education and their gradual regaining of freedom. Can there be a more complex context for learning than a custodial institution? This article suggests that contexts based on human accompaniment methodologies, emotional and socio-educational bonding, are true spaces for ACL transformation and empowerment. It highlights the principle of resocialization in the recovery of prosocial habits in juvenile delinquents. The article presents the results of a longitudinal research project involving 157 ACLs residing in different public criminal justice juvenile centres. The principle of the resocialization of ACLs was born when strategies aimed at transformation and learning in inclusive contexts began to appear. Therefore, personal and environmental resources merge in a process of exchange that has an influence on the individual’s reflection. The experiences of the ACLs converge with the educational practices received. The ethnographic technique known as “life story” sheds light on the analytic imaginary of ACLs.

El estudio se llevó a cabo de acuerdo a las recomendaciones de los comités de ética de las instituciones participantes.Participaron 107 cuidadores.
