In this paper, we advance the question: What are the semiotic (meaning-making) and learning opportunities offered by student-produced films? Our point of departure is a pedagogical project in which we invited management students to produce films on scalar issues related to global environmental change. Our analytical lens and our empirical findings (examined through a template analysis and a multimodal video transcription) help us make three contributions. First, we synthesize a new ontological and epistemological foundational "positioning" that portrays the nature of learning processes as revolving on meaning-making activities (a positioning that we have termed a performative, design-oriented multimodality). Second, we provide a framework that advances understanding of the "inner workings" of student film-making as resting on a triple engagement (cognitive-affective, behavioral, and relational), anchored on underpinning multimodal composing activities. These conceptual moves and empirical work allow us to distill several implications, or "provocations": film-making fosters radical openness in management learning curricula, gives new momentum to the instructor's role change ("from sage on the stage to guide on the side") and expands existing cultures of recognition around what gets valued and can be assessed as (signs of) learning. Multiyear network maintenance and rehabilitation optimization is a key, longstanding challenge for infrastructure asset management. Although genetic algorithms (GAs) have been widely used as the default optimization tool, successes were limited to small-scale networks. As the network size increases, the performance of conventional GAs quickly deteriorates because the traditional crossover and mutation operations disrupt promising solution compositions and drastically reduce the likelihood of obtaining a feasible solution. To address this gap, this paper introduced an enhanced GA that pivots on two innovations: a new crossover technique that swaps annual plans as a block of genes; and a novel mutation technique that incorporates linear programming (LP) to solve annual plans with a randomly perturbed budget profile. Both operations preserved the integrity of individual annual plans throughout the evolutionary process and enhanced local search capabilities. The hybrid LP-GA was tested with two practical case studies, one with a small-scale sewer network flushing program, and the other involving 13,610 pavement segments. Both case studies showed that the proposed algorithm quickly converged with 100% feasible solutions to optimum or near-to-optimum solutions. Natural dissipative assembly (DSA) often exhibit energy‐driven shifts in natural functions. However, creating man‐made DSA that can mimic such biological activities transformation remains relatively rare. Herein, we introduce a cytomembrane‐like dissipative assembly system based on chiral supramolecules. This system employs benzoyl cysteine in an out of equilibrium manner, enabling the shifts in biofunctions while minimizing material use. Specifically, aroyl‐cystine derivatives primarily assemble into stable M‐helix nanofibers under equilibrium conditions. These nanofibers enhance fibroblast adhesion and proliferation through stereospecific interactions with chiral cellular membranes. Upon the addition of chemical fuels, these functional nanofibers temporarily transform into non‐equilibrium nanospheres, facilitating efficient drug delivery. Subsequently, these nanospheres revert to their original nanofiber state, effectively recycling the drug. The programmable function‐shifting ability of this DSA establishes it as a novel, fuel‐driven drug delivery vehicle. And the bioactive DSA not only addresses a gap in synthetic DSAs within biological applications but also sets the stage for innovative designs of ′living′ materials. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

The scaphotrapeziotrapezoid (STT) joint is involved in load transmission between the wrist and thumb. A quantitative description of baseline STT joint morphometrics is needed to capture the variation of normal anatomy as well as to guide staging of osteoarthritis. Statistical shape modeling (SSM) techniques quantify variations in three‐dimensional shapes and relative positions. The objectives of this study are to describe the morphology of the STT joint using a multi‐domain SSM. We asked: (1) What are the dominant modes of variation that impact bone and articulation morphology at the STT joint, and (2) what are the morphometrics of SSM‐generated STT joints? Thirty adult participants were recruited to a computed tomography study of normal wrist imaging and biomechanics. Segmentations of the carpus were converted to three‐dimensional triangular surface meshes. A multi‐domain, particle‐based entropy system SSM was used to quantify variation in carpal bone shape and position as well as articulation morphology. Articular surface areas and interosseous proximity distributions were calculated between mesh vertex pairs on adjacent bones within distance (2.0 mm) and surface‐normal angular (35°) thresholds. In the SSM, the first five modes of variation captured 76.2% of shape variation and contributed to factors such as bone scale, articular geometries, and carpal tilt. Median interosseous proximities—a proxy for joint space—were 1.39 mm (scaphotrapezium), 1.42 mm (scaphotrapezoid), and 0.61 mm (trapeziotrapezoid). This study quantifies morphological and articular variations at the STT joint, presenting a range of normative anatomy. The shift–rotation method is an absolute testing method that has attracted much attention in recent years, and detection accuracy at the subnanometer level has been achieved. However, for flat absolute calibration, the power aberration cannot be calibrated via the traditional shift–rotation absolute testing method. To solve this problem, we propose a shift–rotation absolute testing method based on autocollimation, which detects the tilt error of the tested mirror caused by the external environment and guides the adjustment of the stage to remove it. Simulations and experiments are conducted to prove this theory. A comparison with liquid experiments shows that the autocollimated shift–rotation method can achieve accurate absolute power aberration and can compensate for the shortcomings of the traditional shift–rotation method. Harmonics in the power grid contribute to increased power losses in both the core and windings of power transformers. These losses lead to abnormal rises in temperature causing overheating and reduce the efficiency of the transformer. If the losses and temperature exceed the values set during the design stage for linear load conditions, it can damage the transformer's insulating materials and shorten its lifespan. To assess the thermal impact of power system harmonics on transformers under steady-state and transient conditions, the rated losses and harmonic losses of the transformer are calculated. These losses are then inputted into a developed thermal 3D finite element method (FEM) performance model to determine the temperature distribution of transformer components. The numerical results from the thermal model will be compared with data from a Hyundai test report and real measurements from Egypt's Kureimat power plant, specifically a 750 MW combined cycle power plant. The thermal modeling is focused on a step-up (16.5/240 kV), 240 ± 4 × 2.5%, 180/240/300 MVA power transformer operating in ONAN, ONAF1, and ONAF2 modes. This paper shows that the developed model aligns closely with actual measurements and the HYUNDAI test report. The loss calculations reveal that the discrepancy in total losses, with and without accounting for harmonics, becomes more pronounced as the load increases. Using this model, the presence of grid harmonics results in a higher temperature distribution across transformer components, leading to an increase in the hot spot temperature. Flexible, adaptive behaviour depends on the application of prior learning to novel contexts (transfer). Transfer can take many forms, but the focus of the present study was on "task schemas"—learning strategies that guide the earliest stages of engaging in a novel task. The central aim was to examine the architecture of task schemas and determine whether strategic task components can expedite learning novel tasks that share some structural components with the training tasks. Groups of participants across two experiments were exposed to different training regimes centred around multiple unique tasks that shared some/all/none of the structural task components (the kinds of stimuli, classifications, and/or responses) but none of the surface features (the specific stimuli, classifications, and/or responses) with the test task (a dot-pattern classification task). Initial test performance was improved (to a degree) in all groups relative to a control group whose training did not include any of the structural components relevant to the test task. The strongest evidence of transfer was found in the motoric, perceptual + categorization, and full schema training groups. This observation indicates that training with some (or all) strategic task components expedited learning of a novel task that shared those components. That is, task schemas were found to be componential and were able to expedite learning a novel task where similar (learning) strategies could be applied to specific elements of the test task. Gas vesicles (GVs) are gas-filled microbial organelles formed by unique 3-nm thick, amphipathic, force-bearing protein shells, which can withstand multiple atmospheric pressures and maintain a physically stable air bubble with megapascal surface tension. However, the molecular process of GV assembly remains elusive. To begin understanding this process, we have devised a high-throughput in vivo assay to determine the interactions of all 11 proteins in the pNL29 GV operon. Complete or partial deletions of the operon establish interdependent relationships among GV proteins during assembly. We also examine the tolerance of the GV assembly process to protein mutations and the cellular burdens caused by GV proteins. Clusters of GV protein interactions are revealed, proposing plausible protein complexes that are important for GV assembly. We anticipate our findings will set the stage for designing GVs that efficiently assemble in heterologous hosts during biomedical applications. Synopsis: Growing interest in biomedical applications for gas vesicles (GVs) demands an understanding of their structure and assembly, but little is known to date on the roles of individual gas vesicle proteins (Gvps) as assembly factors. This study utilizes modular, parallelized protein-protein interaction screening to elucidate key interactions and interdependencies of Gvps during GV assembly. Out of 66 possible Gvp-to-Gvp interactions, 28 formed a dense protein-protein interaction network. Selective inclusion of other Gvps led to gain or loss of protein-protein interactions, revealing interdependence during GV assembly. Specific subnetworks of Gvps are revealed that may be linked to different stages of GV assembly. A number of Gvps show tolerance for fusion proteins during GV assembly, unveiling a degree of plasticity with implications for GV engineering. Background. Unani Tibb promotes holistic patient care, yet spirituality and spiritual care seem to be neglected in education. This theory-practice gap was previously highlighted in studies on Unani Tibb practitioners. The role of spirituality and spiritual care in Unani Tibb education in South Africa (SA) remains unclear. Objectives. To explore Unani Tibb students' and educators' perceptions and attitudes of spirituality and spiritual care in SA. Methods. A two-stage sequential explanatory mixed-method study was conducted. Quantitative data from stage 1 was obtained using a cross-sectional descriptive study followed by in-depth interviews for the qualitative study in stage 2. Stage 1 guided the interview questions in stage 2. Descriptive data analysis was performed for the quantitative study, followed by thematic analysis for the qualitative data. Results. A total of 18 (90%) participants took part in the quantitative study followed by 10 participants (50%) in the qualitative study. Three study findings emerged: i) a heightened level of spiritual awareness was recorded for this cohort despite the lack of spirituality and spiritual care content in the curriculum, ii) participants viewed spiritual care as integral to Unani Tibb philosophy, education and practice and iii) formal integration of spirituality and spiritual care concepts in Unani Tibb education was identified as a necessity to ensure the integrity of the holistic approach required by the profession. Conclusion. This study has implications across the health education sector and more specifically for Unani Tibb educators to consider the inclusion of spiritual care content in education programmes. This study presents an innovative approach to attitude control in microsatellites by utilizing a spherical magnetohydrodynamic attitude control device (MHD-SACD) for three-axis attitude adjustments. A novel method is developed to quantify the output torque generated by this device, analyzing the relationship between torque, voltage, and average fluid velocity. Utilizing the energy conservation principle, an equivalent coupling circuit for the MHD-SACD is derived to assess its power dynamics. This leads to the formulation of the electromagnetic torque equation. Additionally, simulations are conducted to calculate friction torque and resultant output torque. The findings provide a qualitative assessment of the device's torque characteristics, serving as a reference for future design optimization and setting the stage for subsequent experimental investigations. This paper builds theory on theatrical cultural design in corporate venturing units, such as manifested in playful esthetics (foosball tables and beanbags), startup lingo, or youthful behavior (building with Lego bricks and informal dressing). We develop a set of propositions, illuminating how theatrical cultural design can (de)legitimize corporate venturing units, highlighting three different functions: attention‐direction function, social categorization function, and escapist function. In addition, we explain how such changes in legitimization can influence the resilience of corporate venturing units. Our framework contributes to an emergent debate on innovation theater by pointing to the possibility of innovation theater as a constructive process in contemporary innovation management practices. Bispecific T‐cell Engagers (TCEs) are promising anti‐cancer treatments that bind to both the CD3 receptors on T cells and an antigen on the surface of tumor cells, creating an immune synapse, leading to killing of malignant tumor cells. These novel therapies have unique development challenges, with specific safety risks of cytokine release syndrome. These on‐target adverse events fortunately can be mitigated and deconvoluted from efficacy via innovative dosing strategies, making clinical pharmacology key in the development of these therapies. This review assesses dose selection and the role of quantitative clinical pharmacology in the development of the first eight approved TCEs. Model informed drug development (MIDD) strategies can be used at every stage to guide TCE development. Mechanistic modeling approaches allow for (1) efficacious yet safe first‐in‐human dose selection as compared with in vitro minimum anticipated biological effect level (MABEL) approach; (2) rapid escalation and reducing number of patients with subtherapeutic doses through model‐based adaptive design; (3) virtual testing of different step‐up dosing regimens that may not be feasible to be evaluated in the clinic; and (4) selection and justification of the optimal clinical step‐up and full treatment doses. As the knowledge base around TCEs continues to grow, the relevance and utilization of MIDD strategies for supporting the development and dose optimization of these molecules are expected to advance, optimizing the benefit–risk profile for cancer patients. There is growing interest in platform trials that allow for adding of new treatment arms as the trial progresses as well as being able to stop treatments part way through the trial for either lack of benefit/futility or for superiority. In some situations, platform trials need to guarantee that error rates are controlled. This paper presents a multi‐stage design, that allows additional arms to be added in a platform trial in a preplanned fashion, while still controlling the family‐wise error rate, under the assumption of known number and timing of treatments to be added, and no time trends. A method is given to compute the sample size required to achieve a desired level of power and we show how the distribution of the sample size and the expected sample size can be found. We focus on power under the least favorable configuration which is the power of finding the treatment with a clinically relevant effect out of a set of treatments while the rest have an uninteresting treatment effect. A motivating trial is presented which focuses on two settings, with the first being a set number of stages per active treatment arm and the second being a set total number of stages, with treatments that are added later getting fewer stages. Compared to Bonferroni, the savings in the total maximum sample size are modest in a trial with three arms, <1% of the total sample size. The work by Hassabis and Jumper on protein structure prediction together with Baker's supremacy in de novo protein design set the stage for a future where AI not only deciphers biology at the atomic level but also designs new molecules for biotechnology, medicine, and beyond. I provide an overview of the recent past, the present, and the future of AI in structural biology, from how it all started with the Critical Assessment of Structure Prediction (CASP) experiments and a protein engineering lab, to how the field could further evolve with AI models that eventually "understand" biology holistically. This paper presents an enhanced crayfish optimization algorithm (ECOA). The ECOA includes four improvement strategies. Firstly, the Halton sequence was used to improve the population initialization of the crayfish optimization algorithm. Furthermore, the quasi opposition-based learning strategy is introduced to generate the opposite solution of the population, increasing the algorithm's searching ability. Thirdly, the elite factor guides the predation stage to avoid blindness in this stage. Finally, the fish aggregation device effect is introduced to increase the ability of the algorithm to jump out of the local optimal. This paper performed tests on the widely used IEEE CEC2019 test function set to verify the validity of the proposed ECOA method. The experimental results show that the proposed ECOA has a faster convergence speed, greater performance stability, and a stronger ability to jump out of local optimal compared with other popular algorithms. Finally, the ECOA was applied to two real-world engineering optimization problems, verifying its ability to solve practical optimization problems and its superiority compared to other algorithms. Scenes as vivid in our cinematographic memory as Tara's views in Gone with the Wind (Victor Fleming, 1939), the oppressive sewers in the final sequence of The Third Man (Carol Reed, 1949), the vistas of Rome in Ben-Hur (William Wyler, 1959) or the famous final shot on the beach in Planet of the Apes (Franklin J. Schaffner, 1968), all place the viewer, without their awareness, in front of an image produced using the mechanism known as matte painting. It is a resource to which cinema has turned with considerable frequency over the course of its history, albeit one which has received little to no analytical attention from film studies. With a view to redressing this omission, this essay will aim to create a conceptual framework within which a rigorous analysis of this technique can be carried out in the context of film aesthetics. For this, it will be useful to start by reviewing the existing definitions of this term and proposing not one but two updated ones. This will then allow us to conceptualize this practice as a mechanism for assembling spaces, employing analytical tools used for editing in order to understand the way in which matte painting performs its unique construction of the cinematographic space. Iron concentration tailings contain many valuable minerals, including apatite, which is not currently being recovered despite its use to make fertilizers and chemicals. This article proposes a flotation circuit to recover apatite from tailings generated by mining in Chile, based on laboratory tests and using the "Split Factor" method. The iron tailings were characterized by granulometry, chemical and mineralogical analyses, zeta potential, and contact angle. The effect of the collector, frother, and dispersant dose, along with the number of flotation stages, on both the grade and recovery of P2O5 were studied. The results indicate that it is possible to produce concentrates with a P2O5 grade of 29.1% and 89.6% recovery in a flotation circuit that includes the rougher–scavenger–cleaner stages. To obtain these results, it is only necessary to condition the iron tailings with 400 gt−1 of Atrac-2600, 400 gt−1 of sodium silicate, 10 min of conditioning time, pH adjustment to 10, and a time for the rougher, cleaner, and scavenger stages set at 10, 7.6, and 6.8 min, respectively. In the response surface based RPD, the optimal setting of the controllable factor is highly dependent on the accuracy of the response surface. Classically, in order to improve the accuracy of the response surface, it is necessary to add more samples. The larger the number of samples, the higher the accuracy. Traditional RPD usually uses a one-shot modeling method to construct a response surface. Whenever the number of samples increases, all samples need to be learned from the beginning to rebuild the response surface. However, The one-shot modeling method significantly increases the time of model training and the complexity of model training. We present an incremental strategy to build response models. Our solution is based on the Huber-support vector regression machine. In this article, the incremental Huber-SVR model is proposed to construct the response surface in robust parameter design. The proposed algorithm can continuously integrate new sample information into the already built model. In incremental HSVR-RPD, we can use the optimal settings of the previous controllable factors, the currently observed noise factor and the corresponding response to improve the accuracy of the response surface, so as to obtain more reliable recommended settings in the next stage. Images obtained in an unfavorable environment may be affected by haze or fog, leading to fuzzy image details, low contrast, and loss of important information. Recently, significant progress has been achieved in the realm of image dehazing, largely due to the adoption of deep learning techniques. Owing to the lack of modules specifically designed to learn the unique characteristics of haze, existing deep neural network-based methods are impractical for processing images containing haze. In addition, most networks primarily focus on learning clear image information while disregarding potential features in hazy images. To address these limitations, we propose an innovative method called contrastive multiscale transformer for image dehazing (CMT-Net). This method uses the multiscale transformer to enable the network to learn global hazy features at multiple scales. Furthermore, we introduce feature combination attention and a haze-aware module to enhance the network's ability to handle varying concentrations of haze by assigning more weight to regions containing haze. Finally, we design a multistage contrastive learning loss incorporating different positive and negative samples at various stages to guide the network's learning process to restore real and non-hazy images. Most of the dams registered on the National Information System on Dam Safety (SNISB of Brazil) do not have enough information to assess whether they fit into the National Dam Safety Policy (PNSB), or to assess their safety conditions. According to the National Agency of Waters (ANA, 2021b), there are currently 122 dams with some important structural problems indicated by their inspectors in 23 states. Therefore, this article proposes a methodology for identifying faults in dam safety activities. The method applies to all types of existing dams. The proposed methodology comprises ten stages that, according to the progress of the steps, are defined by three levels of completeness of the information. Tables were developed with the objective of being a verification guide for these ten stages. This research applied the proposed methodology to two dams in Paraná, Brazil. The first is the Iraí dam, located in the metropolitan region of Curitiba, and the second is the Jordan River Derivation dam, located in Reserva do Iguaçu. The example of the Iraí dam could complete all stages of the proposed methodology. For the Jordan River Derivation dam, stages 1 to 5 of the proposed methodology were carried out. The application of the proposed methodology intends to become a useful tool, especially for inspectors, aiming at a more effective registration process, accelerating the completion of the SNISB. Purpose: This study presents a systematic framework for maintenance strategy development of manufacturing process machinery. The framework is developed based on the reliability-centred maintenance (RCM) approach to minimise the high downtime of a production line, thus increasing its reliability and availability. A case study of a production line from the ghee and soap manufacturing industry in Taiz, Yemen, is presented for framework validation purposes. The framework provides a systematic process to identify the critical system(s) and guide further investigation for functional significant items (FSIs) based on quantitative and qualitative analyses before recommending appropriate maintenance strategies and specific tasks. Design/methodology/approach: The proposed framework integrates conventional RCM procedure with the fuzzy computational process to improve FSIs criticality estimation, which is the main part of failure mode effect criticality analysis (FMECA) applications. The framework consists of four main implementation stages: identification of the critical system(s), technical analysis, Fuzzy-FMECA application for FSIs criticality estimation and maintenance strategy selection. Each stage has its objective(s) and related scientific techniques that are applied to systematically guide the framework implementation. Findings: The proposed framework validation is summarised as follows. The first stage results demonstrate that the seaming system (top and bottom systems) caused 50% of the total production line downtime, indicating it is a critical system that requires further analysis. The outcomes of the second stage provide significant technical information on the subject (seaming system), helping team members to identify and understand the structure and functional complexities of the seaming system. This stage also provides a better understanding of how the seaming system functions and how it can fail. In stage 3, the application of FMECA with the fuzzy computation integration process presents a systematic way to analyse the failure mode, effect and cause of items (components of the seaming system). This stage also includes items' criticality estimation and ranking assessment. Finally, stage four guides team members in recommending the appropriate countermeasures (maintenance strategies and task selection) based on their priority level. Originality/value: This paper proposes an original maintenance strategies development framework based on the RCM approach for production system equipment. Specifically, it considers a fuzzy computational process based on the Gaussian function in the third stage of the proposed framework. Adopting the fuzzy computational process improves the risk priority number (RPN) estimation, resulting in better criticality ranking determination. Another significant contribution is introducing an extended item criticality ranking assessment process to provide maximum levels of criticality item ranking. Finally, the proposed RCM framework also provides detailed guidance on maintenance strategy selection based on criticality levels, unique functionality and failure characteristics of each FSI. The article draws attention to the problems of management and ensuring sustainable stable functioning and development of enterprises specializing in the provision of air transportation services for both passengers and cargo. The aim of the article is to generalize and further develop the theoretical, methodological and applied foundations of analysis and ensuring the economic security of enterprises in the aviation industry. The author’s own definition of the concept of economic security of aviation industry enterprises is provided. It is stated that the leading aspects of this concept are the state of protection and implementation of economic interests of stakeholders from internal and external threats, implementation of tasks of functioning and development of enterprises. The specific characteristic features of the economic security of enterprises in the aviation industry, which has its own specificity in comparison with other types of economic activity, have been identified. Such elements of economic security of an enterprise in the aviation industry as the content characteristics of security, its concepts, components, methods of analysis, identification of risks and threats, construction of a management system and security assurance are analyzed. It is shown that the algorithm for analyzing the economic security of air transport enterprises involves the following stages: setting a goal, calculating indicators of the current state, forming indicators and setting their limit values, assessing internal and external threats, conducting a resource-functional analysis, forming conclusions and planning measures to strengthen the economic security of aviation industry enterprises. Strategies and forms of policy for ensuring the economic security of aviation industry enterprises are defined. The author considers such aspects as internal institutional and legal support of security management, institutionalized quality management system in the field of ensuring the economic security of aviation industry enterprises, strategy and tactics, form of security management (contractual, matrix, complex), system of institutional and organizational, economic and information mechanisms and means. This essay attempts to insulate the Folio from periodic swings of opinion about it by illustrating that some aspects of this text have gained greater respect over the last four centuries. The essay locates the importance of the Folio specifically in the increased esteem for its apparent reflection of early performance, as instanced in the editorial handling of a pair of cruxes near the close of A Midsummer Night's Dream. This essay charts a course from the eighteenth-century rhetorical denigration of Folio readings as supposedly corrupt theatrical documents to valuable witnesses of stage practice by some editors in the nineteenth century and later. Part of this essay's original contribution is also an emphasis on the ease with which editors moved from text to text, and line by line, to construct thoroughly hybrid editorial texts. At our four hundred-year remove, the Folio remains a powerful force not principally because it was endorsed by a series of editors who agreed on its prominence but because it has persisted through an extensive series of editorial arguments about its performability and its overall validity. This article investigates Marx's method in the analysis of the circuits of capital, as it is carried out in Capital vol. 2, in an attempt to clarify some key aspects of the well-known problem in Marxist literature on the relation between the logical and the historical. The central question on this topic is whether Marx's analysis is logical/structural or historical. The approach elaborated upon in this article extends beyond the one-sidedness of both views which deny any kind of correlation between logical and historical sequences and the views claiming that the articulation of Capital's argument exposes a set of historical stages. We will argue that dialectic, namely, the method of ascent from the abstract to the concrete, represents, first and foremost, the inner articulation of the structure of a given self-developing object, and at the same time implicitly represents its historical development. Hence, taking Marx's analysis of the circuits of capital as a case study, this article aspires to identify the fundamental movement of the systematic dialectic, which characterizes the entire Capital and explains the fundamental function of the relation between the logical and the historical. Luminous skins are interactive, light-costume hybrids that reimagine the boundaries of the performers' physical bodies, broadcast their feelings, and alter their environment. The costumes are the central element of a performance that requires no stage space, no fixed lighting, no wall outlets, and no lighting technicians. The performers manage to dance through the darkness with the light they wear. The costumes are equipped with sensors and actuators that communicate wirelessly in real time with other scenographic elements. Together, they form a swarm-based scenography that involves close coordination between the performers and responsive technology to create visually dynamic and immersive atmospheres. Australian theatre director Simon Stone has emerged as a major presence on the European stage since the International Ibsen Festival presented his The Wild Duck 'after Ibsen', co-written with Chris Ryan, in 2012. Prior to Stone, Barrie Kosky and Benedict Andrews, the most influential directors of their generation in Australia, had established themselves as internationally significant artists in Europe. This article explores Stone's imbrication in theatrical networks defined by Kosky and Andrews and the director as a relational phenomenon. It shifts analysis from the director as a singular subject to a network subject by deploying datasets held in AusStage () to firstly, chart the ecosystem of artists intrinsic to Stone's career in Australia and Europe, secondly, to anatomize the concept of the network subject by interrogating the reoccurring connections and patterns of participation constituting the director, thirdly, to examine correlations between Stone, Andrews, and Kosky and thereby the question of the transference of artistic influences and Australia's cultural relationship to Europe, and finally, to touch on the role of repertoire in Stone's theatrical endeavour. In doing so, the article contends that the intersecting relationships intrinsic to Stone's theatrical experience expose critical embodied junctures in the development of his directorial signature, and as such, constitute a means of identifying and measuring (circuits of) influence and aesthetic tendencies more broadly. In El viaje entretenido (1603), Agustín de Rojas Villandrando described the 'bululú' as 'a player who travels alone and afoot, who enters a village, goes to the priest, and tells him that he knows a comedia and a loa or two'. Rojas' definition included explanations of metatheatrical techniques the bululú employed: voice modulation, improvised scenography, and out loud stage directions. This entertainer constituted a company of actors, insofar as he exercised all business functions and performed every character in the play. Focusing on its defining characteristics, my paper considers this type of comedian as a point of departure to analyse the relationship between performance, reception and subjectivity in early modern Spain. I argue that the bululú was a subject of multi-discursivity (ludio diversas personas agens, or histrio performing as different characters) whose interchangeability of roles was only possible when a strong dramatic contract between spectators and the performer existed. This contract was linked to the materiality of his voice, and it strengthened and modified certain qualities of the dramatization. My approach is informed by recent scholarly developments in the theorization of the human voice, which emphasize the role of sound for a decentred modernity no longer defined by the printed word. In this paper, we propose a new sampling design extending the well-known ranked set sampling, which we named dual-rank ranked set sampling. Unlike the original ranked set sampling scheme, dual-rank ranked set sampling is based on two ranking sets stages, as the double ranked set sampling design. Dual-rank ranked set sampling differs from double ranked set sampling, however, since it requires only $ n^2 $ n 2 initially selected units to draw a sample of size n, whereas double ranked set sampling is based on $ n^3 $ n 3 units to provide a sample of similar size. We verified that the dual-rank ranked set sampling sample estimator of the population mean is an unbiased estimator for the corresponding population parameter when the underlying distribution is symmetric. A simulation study was carried out to evaluate the efficiency of dual-rank ranked set sampling. The simulation results pointed out that dual-rank ranked set sampling estimation is more efficient than simple random sampling and ranked set sampling, and it is a cost-effective alternative to double ranked set sampling estimation. The problem of interval estimation for dual-rank ranked set sampling was also addressed. An application based on fish ageing data is finally presented. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Visual elements have always been an integral concern in performance of the Chinese seven- string zither guqin, as seen in both early records and contemporary practice. Since the mid- 2010s, a neo-traditional guqin performance group, Zi De Qinshe (Zi De meaning "enjoy oneself"; Qinshe meaning "guqin studio"), has been a leader in a cultural trend known as guofeng (Chinese style) and guochao (China chic) with their viral online videos and live performances featuring stage settings, clothing, and makeup that re-create paintings and other visual images from past centuries. In this essay, I focus on Zi De Qinshe as a case study based on fieldwork with the group and their audiences as well as analysis of their performances. I explore how and why contemporary Chinese musicians reinterpret and reimagine the past through visuality in performance, how they negotiate the old and the new, and how a neo- tradition and a neo- cultural identity are being constructed in this process. Manufacturing industry has long been a vital component of emerging countries. Its relevance has been claimed in recent years even if the trends were decreased during the last 20-25 years, those results in premature de-industrialization or non-industrialization. This study explores the nature of spatial distribution and agglomeration of industry in Oromia Special Zone Surrounding Finfinnee, Ethiopia. Firm stage data set and distance-based method were used to answer research questions. Besides, two sets of indications for service and industrialized firms were set respectively to capture the findings in the intra-built-up neighborhood. Perhaps the most salient finding of the study indicates that the spatial pattern of most industries was agglomerated but not connected. Moreover, the index of space-based clustering for manufacturing firm is more than 0.05, but approximately 0.03 for service firm. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

The article explores Bulgaria's involvement in the Prague Quadrennial of Performance Design and Space, a platform that has greatly influenced Bulgarian scenography. Despite challenges faced during the communist era, Bulgarian stage designers and directors were able to exchange ideas and experiences through the Quadrennial. The article showcases the innovative and creative approaches taken by Bulgarian scenographers, particularly in exhibitions like "The Artist and The Theatre" and the sixth edition of the Quadrennial. The article emphasizes the significance of personal interaction between artists and the audience, a key theme in the national exhibitions at PQ 2023. The Bulgarian pavilion at the Quadrennial exhibition focuses on theatrical costumes and props, featuring items from thirty scenographers. Viewers are encouraged to engage with the objects and give them new meaning, sparking discussions about the fate of theater props and the absence of theater museums in Bulgaria. This article argues the cultural programming of the Olympics is an exercise in soft power and it illuminates instances of institutional entrepreneurship using London 2012 as a case. Specifically, it reviews and critiques Joseph Nye's concept using explicit Olympic examples. The article highlights new organizational formats using work by Steve Maguire, Cynthia Hardy and Thomas Lawrence to examine the structure of the London Olympic Organizing Committee, creation of the opening ceremony, and the World Shakespeare Festival. Using case study methodology, it explores how the International Olympic Committee and local organizing committee engaged with institutional entrepreneurship during the London 2012 Olympics to create new structures for the organizing committee and implement the cultural programming to exercise soft power. Ultimately, the London Organising Committee of the Olympic and Paralympic Games' new, hybrid public-private structure functioned as a resource for the production and implementation of the Games because it impacted autonomy and accountability, which influenced the committee's ability to exercise soft power. This work emphasizes how institutional entrepreneurship activities occurs within large organizations like the International Olympic Committee highlights how institutions consistently change to reflect the needs of stakeholders, but the goals of the Olympic Games remain the same.
