Phytoplasmas are small, wall-less bacteria that infect plants and multiply within insects. This Special Issue compiles ten articles that explore the molecular characterization and host-pathogen interactions of phytoplasmas. The articles cover topics such as the genetic diversity and epidemiology of grapevine-associated phytoplasmas, the impact of phytoplasma infection on grapevine physiology, multilocus genotyping of phytoplasmas associated with grapevine bois noir, the presence of phytoplasmas in citrus crops, the epigenetic effects of phytoplasma infection in sesame plants, the transmission pathways of sandalwood spike disease, advances in phytoplasma detection methods, and updates in phytoplasma taxonomy. These findings contribute to our understanding of phytoplasma biology and host interactions, emphasizing the need for ongoing research in this field. [Extracted from the article]
