The article presents the author's views on Claudio Ciborra, chair of the Department of Information Systems (IS) at the London School of Economics in London, England. He shares his first encounter with Cibbora and his reading of Ciborra's article "Crisis and foundations: an inquiry into the nature and limits of models and methods in the information systems discipline," published in 1998. As a young researcher, the author attended the 23rd Information Research Seminar in Scandinavia in Uddevalla, Sweden in 2000. At the conference, he attended a workshop on the future of systems development methods--a theme in relation to the impact of Web-technologies upon the world of IS development. Ciborra gave a short, concise, and very provocative little speech. Ciborra's comments at this panel discussion gave the author courage to carry through with a project on systems development that deliberately circumvents a methods discussion. Ciborra commented on how systems analysis and design methodologies have dominated teaching and research.
