Using an in-depth qualitative case study approach, this study examines parents of children with autism spectrum disorder (ASD) as they tried to become involved in their children's education and establish home–school partnerships to better support their children's needs in an elementary school in Turkey. Specifically, we focused on the school-level, structural barriers that these parents faced during the process. Our findings indicate that despite these parents' unparalleled enthusiasm and advocacy in supporting their children's education, their efforts to work in partnership with their children's school was hindered by various structural barriers. This study questions traditional perceptions and practices employed by schools to promote home–school partnerships for parents of children with ASD and argues that these traditional ways of viewing partnership further complicate the situation and hinder possible authentic partnerships that might have occurred between schools and parents. This paper provides suggestions for school leaders, teachers and families, as well as for policymakers, to establish more authentic partnerships for parents of children with ASD. Teaching and learning in higher education have increasingly become digitalized and associated with innovative pedagogical methodologies over the past decades. Following the sudden onset of the pandemic in March 2020, several studies tended to focus on traditional students' experiences with emergency remote education while literature is scarce on non‐traditional students (or adult learners) pedagogical experiences in Distance Education contexts. Using a qualitative case study approach, this study explored how digital technologies mediated instructors' and adult learners' educational experiences during COVID‐19 and their first‐time experiences with blended learning. Between October 2021 and July 2022, semi‐structured interviews were conducted with 40 adult learners and 20 instructors in three selected public higher education institutions (HEIs) in Ghana. Data analysis followed Braun and Clarke's (2012) thematic analysis approach. The results showed that the transition to blended learning was supported by the adoption and integration of varied virtual online technologies. The themes highlight the positive and negative impacts of technology in mediating the educational experiences of instructors and adult learners in blended learning environments. The themes which reflected both instructors' and adult learners' experiences were enhanced course delivery and pedagogy, competency development, technological issues and poor‐quality pedagogy. Blended learning facilitated by technology could be the 'new normal learning' post‐pandemic for adult learners pursuing Distance Education in Ghana. The study recommends the implementation of agile strategies and policies by HEIs to ensure sustainable quality education in distance learning. ABSTRACT Students' understanding of nature of science (NOS) has been largely examined primarily in written or verbal modes. The visual, verbal, and written modes are essential for students' meaning‐making of NOS. However, research has sidelined the interaction among these three modes in understanding students' collaborative discourse of NOS. Informed by theories of multimodality and social semiotics, this paper investigates the interactions between the visual, verbal, and written modes as groups of students engaged in explicit‐reflective multimodal representation during NOS instruction. Utilizing a collective case study approach, we planned NOS instruction with teachers, and videotaped how each focal group of students in two grade seven classes in Hong Kong constructed multimodal representations of NOS. Multimodal discourse analysis revealed that the three modes fulfill various purposes during students' co‐construction of multimodal representations of NOS. The interaction between the three modes facilitates meaning‐making of NOS in four ways: (a) students' re‐semiotization of discursive scientific practices into their multimodal ensembles; (b) bridging students' writing of scientific reports to scientists' social certification and dissemination; (c) connecting students' decontextualized meaning‐making to contextualized meaning‐making of methods and methodological rules; and (d) facilitating students' embodied semiosis in social organizations and interactions of science. Focusing on four episodes of co‐constructing multimodal representations of NOS, we illustrate how students' meaning‐making of NOS is multimodal in nature and how various modes have their own affordances. This study explores the reflection and dialog feedback of preservice teachers (PTs) in a one-semester chemistry teaching design and practice course with the aim of improving their situated and dynamic pedagogical content knowledge (PCK). Using a collective case study method, reflections and dialogs from 18 PTs across six teaching cycles were analyzed. The research results indicate that teaching reflection focuses on five themes: the diversity of student situations, the functionality of teaching contexts, the consistency of teaching content, the construction of teacher‒student dialog, and the progression of subject practice activities. The reflection of the PTs strengthened meaningful teaching content and corresponding specific skills, and effective dialog feedback provided external evaluation standards. The reflection prompted teachers to evaluate from multiple perspectives and levels and provided important insights to promote the development of situated and dynamic PCK. Automatics and Robotics students usually engage in some interdisciplinary approaches on their courses at universities, joining the areas of computer science and control theory. During the limited duration of these courses, some knowledge must be acquired by the students. Remote education, temporarily enforced by the COVID-19 pandemic in recent years, has posed new challenges related to the limited contact that students have with academic staff, as well as the limited access students have to hardware facilities. This paper discusses the motivations of students after the COVID-19 pandemic based on a case study of student projects completed at the University of Zielona Gora (Poland). The conducted study was student-centered and highlighted some important aspects of motivation from the point of view of the students, focusing mostly on the emerging challenges, how they have been overcome, and what the students have learned from them. The results indicate that the students, minimally supported by an academic teacher, were able to plan everything by themselves and bring the project to completion according to their own intuition. Teachers' teaching beliefs encompass the underlying perspectives that they hold. These beliefs significantly influence teacher actions in complex ways, thereby impacting the implementation of curriculum reform. However, existing research has revealed inconsistencies between teaching beliefs and actual practices. Employing a case study approach, this study adopts a reflective belief model to address this issue and explore the mechanisms of teaching belief formation within the context of a teacher education program in China. The findings indicate that teaching beliefs can evolve and develop through five dimensions: justification, exemplification, consistency, connection, and practicality. By considering these dimensions within the framework of the reflective belief model, we can better comprehend the inconsistencies between belief and practice. Purpose: To explore how Game-based Learning (GBL) can improve Sustainable Development (SD) competencies in higher education students. The paper aims to address the challenge of gradual transformation of educational processes in Higher Education Institutions (HEIs) to align Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) with learning outcomes of curricula and learning preferences of new generations of students (Z and Alfa generations). Design/methodology/approach: The paper focuses on UNESCO Education for Sustainable Development, using a case study approach to discuss the SEED simulation game from the EU-funded SEED project. It analyzes the game’s design and effectiveness in developing students’ SD competencies and attitudes. Findings: The SEED simulation game presented in the paper may successfully enhance students’ understanding and internalization of key SD concepts as well as their applications in real-world businesses, through collaboration and decision-making with regard to sustainability challenges. Research limitations/implications: The analysis conducted is limited to controlled educational environment and design context of SEED simulation game. Further research is needed to explore long-term impact of an approach used, on students’ professional behavior in real business environments. Practical implications: The SEED simulation game demonstrates the potential of the GBL approach for integrating SD competencies into higher education curricula. This method aligns with new generations’ learning preferences, improving teaching practices and better preparing graduates to enhance future enterprise sustainability. Social implications: The paper emphasizes the role of HEIs in preparing sustainability oriented and focused professionals. It also suggests that using GBL approach to increase students’ SD awareness may positively impact public attitudes toward corporate and social responsibility. Background: Faculty development programs (FDPs) in health professions education (HPE) are instrumental in supporting, promoting, and improving HPE curricula and activities that target individual- and system-level capacity strengthening. FAIMER, a division of Intealth, has been offering FDPs for global health professions educators in HPE and leadership for over two decades through the International FAIMER Institute in the USA and FAIMER Regional Institutes located globally. This paper explores perceptions of former program participants (Fellows) of FAIMER global FDPs by eliciting their success stories. Methods: The study utilized a modified Success Case Method approach. Study participants recruited were 14 FAIMER Fellows nominated as exemplars of success cases by program directors and faculty members from seven global sites, using extreme case sampling technique. Of the 14 Fellows, two were from Africa, nine from Asia and three from Latin America. In-depth interviews were conducted with each Fellow to understand their self-perceived success, and factors from both their local context and FAIMER's FDPs that have contributed to their success. Theoretical thematic analysis method was used to analyze the data. Results: The top three areas of success perceived by Fellows were career advancement & recognition, professional development, and advancement of HPE. Fellows identified both institutional-level factors and personal attributes as contributing to their success. They also reported that FAIMER global FDPs have substantially contributed to their success by expanding professional networks, fostering academic achievement, and enhancing interpersonal development and leadership skills. Conclusions: The findings show that Fellows perceive that there are multiple pathways for them to succeed in advancing the field of HPE. The Fellows' stories highlight the continuing value of FAIMER global FDPs for HPE educators worldwide in professional development and leadership. Although education is framed as a future‐oriented enterprise, we often fail to serve the diverse futurities of youth, particularly in formal learning environments. The cultural norms of formal learning environments are rooted in dominant ways of being and knowing and this shapes how learning environments and learning technologies can be designed. As a result, the futures youth can envision for themselves in these spaces are often static and limited by the dominant culture. As a move toward supporting youths' diverse cultural backgrounds and experiences, we ask how youth develop relationship with culture through creating culturally centred multimedia projects. Guided by a case study approach, we collected thirty‐six remixing multimedia projects from twelve sixth graders, who created these projects for three culturally centred learning activities over a school year. Findings share one case from each learning activity to demonstrate how students represent their relationships with culture through three forms of symbolising. Implications from this work reject the settled expectations of dominant culture in formal learning environments and, instead, invite youths' knowledges and experiences through remixing with multimedia. Despite the effort invested to improve the teaching of programming, students often face problems with understanding its principles when using traditional learning approaches. This paper presents a novel teaching method for programming, combining the task-driven methodology and the case study approach. This method is called a task-driven case study. The case study aspect should provide a real-world context for the examples used to explain the required knowledge. The tasks guide students during the course to ensure that they will not fall into bad practices. We provide reasoning for using the combination of these two methodologies and define the essential properties of our method. Using a specific example of the Minesweeper case study from the Java technologies course, the readers are guided through the process of the case study selection, solution implementation, study guide writing, and course execution. To maximize our teacher candidates' learning about culturally and linguistically diverse students, we developed and implemented Case-Based Instructional (CBI) Modules (Language, Identity, Family, Assumptions) in two teacher preparation courses at a US university. We examined the Modules' impacts on teacher candidates' learning, self-efficacy, attitudes, and transfer of learning to novel contexts. Examining the Modules' effectiveness within and across two delivery modes indicated that both instructor-facilitated and instructor-supported approaches to CBI elicit similar positive attitudes and are effective in enhancing teacher candidates' learning, but not transfer. When teacher candidates' analyses of cases were not facilitated by instructor, however, there were some missed opportunities for learning. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

This paper investigated principal interns' leadership work during the COVID-19 pandemic in Texas. We used data from one-on-one semistructured interviews to document the experiences of 21 principal candidates in spring 2021 through spring 2022. Participants' leadership work changed in four ways during the pandemic: striving, intensifying, expanding, and limiting. We also found that the changes that participants reported varied across the three semesters we studied. Our findings highlight how, in some cases, the pandemic created new opportunities for interns, while in other cases, it led to an intensification or limiting of work that narrowed interns' leadership work. The present study aims to identify shared instructional leadership strategies administered by school principals and instructional coaches to enhance teacher professional learning within a southeastern school system. Using a qualitative case study approach, we collected data through semi-structured interviews with six principals and six instructional coaches from seven elementary schools. Qualitative content analysis was utilized to analyze the data. The results revealed various shared instructional leadership strategies across three key components: structuring the school environment to facilitate professional learning, fostering a culture of ongoing learning, and nurturing interpersonal relationships conducive to teacher development. Flood disasters profoundly impact school children in Kerala, particularly in Ernakulam, disrupting their lives, education, and emotional well-being. Despite the critical need for support, there is limited understanding of how these children cope with the psychosocial challenges posed by floods. This study aims to explore these coping mechanisms to inform effective mental health support and resilience-building programs in schools. Using a qualitative design with a case study approach, eight school children were purposively sampled. Data collection revealed four primary themes: regulating anxiety, the role of a multidisciplinary approach, the development of resilient behaviour, and rebuilding physical health. Regulating anxiety involves emotional regulation strategies, psychosocial support, and continuous mental health assessment, with family, peers, and professionals playing critical roles in providing support. A multidisciplinary approach, including integrated parental support, child-cantered methodologies, and capacity-building initiatives, is essential for effective adaptation, with educators, healthcare providers, and community leaders fostering a supportive environment. Resilient behaviour is exhibited through adaptability, a rebuilding spirit, and altruistic tendencies despite challenges, highlighting the need for targeted interventions for children showing post-traumatic behaviours. Rebuilding physical health addresses psychosomatic issues, general health challenges, and malnutrition, emphasizing the necessity of integrating physical health concerns with psychosocial interventions. Overall, the findings stress the importance of comprehensive, child-focused interventions that combine emotional, social, and physical health support to enhance the well-being of floodaffected children in Ernakulam. A comprehensive graduate teaching assistant (GTA) training program in mathematical sciences designed at one institution is being adapted and replicated at two peer institutions. Using a case study approach, this paper outlines the development of the program components, which include a first-year teaching seminar, peer mentoring and support from a peer TA Coach, a Critical Issues in STEM Education seminar, and K–12 outreach to inform understanding of the pipeline. Additionally, adaptations due to institutional context and the impact of the Covid-19 pandemic are described. Based on "fentanyl" event, the heterocyclic chemistry curriculum system was improved by using opioid heterocyclic compounds as ideological and political cases, which integrate knowledge transfer, value shaping, and science popularization. The author attempts to use natural analgesic isoquinoline heterocyclic drugs as examples, their physico-chemical properties, synthesis, and application of these isoquinoline heterocyclic drugs are implemented throughout the whole teaching process. The reform of heterocyclic chemistry classroom teaching via case-based teaching methods could effectively aroused students’ enthusiasm as well as initiative for learning, and thus significantly improved the teaching effects. The experiences and difficulties Senior High School (SHS) graduates in the Philippines encounter while transferring to tertiary education are examined in this study. It seeks to comprehend how these experiences affect their adjustment to university life and college preparation, providing insights into the wider ramifications for the advancement of education in the ASEAN area. Semi-structured interviews were conducted with SHS graduates who are currently enrolled in higher education as part of a qualitative case study approach. The interview data was analyzed using thematic analysis, which is based on Braun and Clarke's six-step process. Recurring themes and patterns that represent the graduates' experiences and difficulties were found. According to the study, SHS experiences have a major impact on the growth of self-reliance, flexibility, timemanagement abilities, and academic proficiency-all of which are essential for being prepared for college. During SHS, extracurricular activities and social interactions develop important networks and interpersonal skills that help students move to college. But graduates also have to deal with difficulties including adjusting to new situations, handling pressure from the classroom, and striking a balance between their personal and academic obligations. Graduates show perseverance, proactive problem-solving, and good communication skills in spite of these obstacles, which enable them to successfully negotiate the complexities of college life. The importance of SHS experiences in preparing graduates for postsecondary education is shown by this study. SHS prepares students to overcome the obstacles they encounter during the transition to college by cultivating critical skills and resilience. The results emphasize how important it is for educators, decision-maker, and support services to keep up their efforts in order to guarantee that SHS graduates are ready for both their academic and personal journeys into higher education. This study investigated the role of Islamic education teachers in mitigating the negative impacts of TikTok on teenagers in Lampung, Indonesia. This study aimed to assess the extent of TikTok usage among teenagers, identify the associated negative effects, and analyze the strategies employed by Islamic education teachers to address these issues. This field study employed a qualitative case study approach, with a sample consisting of 455 adolescents (both male and female) aged 12 to 18 years, and 35 Islamic education teachers who actively participated in the intervention. Data collection was conducted in three stages: observation, interviews, and document analysis. Questionnaires and instruments were designed, and data obtained from Islamic education teachers were analyzed using the Miles and Huberman theoretical framework. The findings revealed that TikTok had a significant negative impact on teenagers, manifesting in various detrimental outcomes. Islamic education teachers have already implemented numerous roles and solutions to combat these issues, highlighting the necessity for a comprehensive and serious approach to address this problem. This study underscores the importance of empowering adolescents to resist the risks associated with the unwise and morally harmful use of TikTok, thus protecting their ethical development and well-being. In recent years, there has been a noticeable increase in both awareness of and engagement with the issue of sport and social justice. While research has been conducted on social justice in relation to university students enrolled on physical education (PE) courses, there has been little exploration of how the concept is understood and taught on sport-orientated courses (such as sport development, sport management/business, and sport coaching). Using a narrative, qualitative case study approach, this study draws on in-depth qualitative data generated from 14 semi-structured interviews with university lecturers, working in different English universities, responsible for teaching students on courses that were centred around sport. The intention is to explore how lecturers viewed the connection between theoretical knowledge and practical actions (praxis) in promoting social justice values. The work of Freire (1970) and intersectional theory are used to explore how those interviewed reflected on their teaching practices and informed their teaching and learning for inclusion, equity, and social justice outcomes. The interview transcripts were thematically analysed to identify the lecturers’ understandings, experiences, and teachings of sport and social justice. The findings show how the lecturers’ positionality was informed by a Freirean pedagogy (including the ideas of praxis and conscientização) which shaped their teaching and demonstrated a relationship between teaching, sport, social justice and activism. Based on the findings discussed here, it is proposed that social justice needs to be featured in all sports-orientated courses and not be treated as an optional extra. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

This study analyses the Delta Project, an Urban Living Lab (ULL) implemented at the Faculty of Architecture and Urbanism (FAU) of the University of Guayaquil (UG), as an innovative educational strategy for sustainable development. It highlights the challenges in architecture education, focusing on the need to adapt to the demands of sustainability and technological advances. ULLs, in response to these challenges, are presented as dynamic platforms that combine research, innovation and policy to promote sustainability in urban and educational contexts. The methodology employs a case study approach, detailing how the Delta Project is integrated as a learning environment at FAU and its relationship to sustainability goals and education for sustainable development (ESD). The E-ULL-HEIs tool was used to assess seven key indicators: objectives and scope, diversity and stakeholder participation, interdisciplinarity, curricular integration, learning and research impact, community impact, and resources and sustainability. Data were collected through semi-structured interviews, documentary analysis and participatory observation. The results indicate that FAU has successfully integrated the Delta Project into its educational programmes, highlighting its impact on diversity and stakeholder participation, interdisciplinarity, curricular integration, and learning and research. The findings underline the effectiveness of the Delta Project in promoting ESD and its alignment with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). However, challenges were identified in terms of cross-sectoral collaboration and student participation, providing valuable lessons on the importance of strategic planning and adaptability. The study highlights the potential of the Delta Project model to be adapted and replicated in different cultural and academic contexts, suggesting the need for ongoing evaluations to improve the effectiveness of similar projects and promote ESD. Constructing the first-class undergraduate specialty, deepening curriculum reform, incorporating innovation and entrepreneurship education throughout the entire talent development process, and consistently enhancing the standard of innovation and entrepreneurship education are crucial approaches to fostering scientific and technological aptitude among college students. This study, according to the nature and characteristics of the course "Comprehensive Utilization of Grain and Oil Processing By-Products", focusing on the objectives of course teaching, under the guidance of the concept of innovation and entrepreneurship education, aims to explore the development and implementation of a practical case teaching method tailored to grain engineering students within the framework of the provincial first-class undergraduate specialty construction. By improving challenges such as lecture-based teaching, limited practical links, and one-dimensional assessment, a collaborative education platform of 'trinity' innovation and entrepreneurship teaching is proposed based on the construction idea of "classroom-experiment-practice". This platform emphasizes several improvement initiatives, such as incorporating industry case-inspired teaching, conducting classroom presentations, fostering the development of innovative experimental designs in small groups, cultivating the spirit of scientists, expanding the teaching of science and innovation competitions on the extracurricular activities, implementing multi-dimensional assessment methods, and establishing continuity mechanisms. Our goal is to establish a collaborative platform that nurtures innovation and entrepreneurship through the professional curriculum. Ultimately, this platform seeks to promote balanced development between professional knowledge and entrepreneurial skills, elevating the cultivation of innovative talents in grain engineering. The aim of this study is to explore the pedagogical reasoning and action of high school geography teachers when teaching sustainable development within the context of the Advanced Placement Human Geography classroom. Through a multiple case study approach, this research examines the instructional decisions and rationales of seven APHG teachers throughout their entire teaching activities. The findings illuminate how participating teachers make informed instructional decisions through specific teaching strategies and practices and the rationale behind their decisions, encompassing both planned pedagogical actions and responses to unexpected instructional challenges in their classrooms. It is often presumed that when students complete a particular entry course at college, the acquisition of that qualification should grant access to the next, higher level of study. There is a dearth of academic research on the actual progression outcomes for so-called not in education, employment, and training (NEET) and disengaged youth, enrolled on an employability course. Purportedly, the employability qualifications should enable students to progress towards higher levels of study, but do they? Adopting a case study approach, research was conducted with seven tutors and 26 students enrolled on the 2013 and 2014 Level 1 Achieving Skills Course, an employability course delivered at The Site, a FE college in the East Region. The college’s database was also accessed to review success and progression outcomes. Highlighting discrepancy and controversy, key findings revealed that most participants were unable to progress onto higher level courses at The Site. Instead, they were recorded as either NEET or destination unknown. This paper reveals key factors impeding progression and the reification of NEET identities on this course. It calls for political debate and a sharper inspection into the quality of re-engagement provisions for so-called NEET and disengaged youth. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

This research aims to prove the effectiveness of a context-aware ubiquitous learning model through the case method and team-based projects in enhancing the knowledge construction skills of students regarding instructional media. In this analysis, a quasiexperimental posttest-only control group design was used, with the subjects comprising 62 students. These students were subsequently split into experimental and control groups of 32 and 30 participants, respectively. An interaction analysis model was also used as the data collection instrument to characterize learning behavior in knowledge construction. This was reflected in a questionnaire, with an independent ttest statistical analysis technique used to analyze the data. The results showed that the context-aware ubiquitous learning model based on the case method and team-based project was effective in improving the knowledge construction skills of students. In managing learning, lecturers were also advised to utilize educational strategies that were more oriented toward the students, such as active techniques including case techniques and team-based projects. AbstractDespite the growing interest in learners’ feedback engagement in second language writing in recent decades, learners’ multidimensional engagement with teachers’ feedback provided via different modes is an issue yet to be explored. Using the case study approach, this study explored how five Saudi university EFL students engaged affectively, behaviorally, and cognitively with teacher feedback provided via three different modes: oral, audio-recorded, and automatically written feedback. Content and textual analysis of students ‘drafts, reflections on mistakes, semi-structured interviews, and final course reflections revealed that the students’ high, moderate, and low engagement patterns were mediated by the affordances of the modes. Regardless of their preference for certain modes, highly - engaged students show deep engagement cognitively and behaviorally. Further, their cognitive and metacognitive strategies were triggered by the affordances of their preferred mode. Moderately and low engaged students had more complex engagement patterns and there was a nonlinear and inconsistent relationship among the three engagement dimensions. While the students’ cognitive engagement with the mode mediated their affective engagement to a great extent, mismatches persisted. Similarly, the students’ affective engagement with certain modes did not influence their revision uptake, but the aversion to certain modes indirectly led to withdrawal that consequently impacted their behavioral and cognitive engagement. The paper highlights the influence of alignment and misalignment between learners and contextual factors that further exacerbate the inconsistency across the three dimensions. The results suggest that writing teachers should be aware of different modes’ affordances in relation to learners’ needs and preferences to harvest their feedback engagement. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Context • In China, the dearth of adept rehabilitation nurses has escalated into a pressing concern. Conventional nursing education has stymied nurses’ autonomous scholarly pursuits. The case-teaching methodology can augment students’ competencies and zeal, culminating in the enrichment of educational excellence. Objective • The study intended to elucidate the principles, taxonomy, and enactment of the case-teaching methodology and examine its salutary impacts on nursing practitioners and educators. Design • The research team performed a narrative review by searching BMJ Best Practice, OVID EBM, NGC et al databases. The search used the keywords ‘Rehabilitation nursing’, ‘nursing’, ‘case teaching method’. Setting • The study took place at the Rehabilitation Medicine Center at West China Hospital of Sichuan University in Chengdu, China. Results • The current study scrutinizes the assimilation of the case-teaching methodology within the realm of nursing, dissects emerging paradigms in the standardized training of rehabilitation nursing staff, and furnishes precedents for the evolution of training frameworks in the field of rehabilitative care. Conclusions • The case-teaching methodology not only serves as an instructional tool but also embodies a fundamental transformation in the modernization of nursing education, embodying the aspiration for excellence, the desire for continuous improvement, and a dedication to the highest standards of patient care. Purpose: This study aims to assess the effectiveness of active teaching methodologies, namely, problem-oriented learning and the case method, to develop sustainability competencies. It also analyses the advantages and challenges for teachers when implementing the sustainable development goals (SDGs) in eight undergraduate and postgraduate degrees within the framework of a cross-departmental collaboration. Design/methodology/approach: A mixed research methodology was used: a quantitative study to assess the levels of acquisition of sustainability and research competencies and the potential correlation between them, as well as a mixed study of the advantages and challenges for the teachers participating in the cross-departmental initiative. Curriculum content linked to the SDGs was worked on. Active teaching methodologies and a competency assessment rubric were used as curriculum implementation strategies in the eight courses involved. Findings: Active teaching methodologies are suitable to implement the SDGs in university teaching and to develop both sustainability and research competencies. A synergic effect is observed between them. Coordinated work between teachers of different subjects in several degrees contributes to developing a culture of sustainability at the university. Research limitations/implications: Although the collaboration between teachers from different disciplines was successful, this study did not promote interdisciplinary projects among students from different degrees. This promises to be highly valuable for future research. Practical implications: Students can become present and future leaders in achieving the SDGs. This approach can be replicated in other educational institutions. Social implications: This study bridges the gap between theoretical recommendations and the practical implementation of the SDGs in undergraduate and postgraduate degrees. Although combining case study teaching with group learning is a popular approach for teaching business courses, pedagogical challenges arise, particularly in undergraduate classes. To address these challenges, we developed an instructional innovation called the T eam- B ased L earning and E valuation (TaBLE) Case Method, which increased student engagement and deepened learning in an undergraduate introductory management course. The TaBLE Case Method is built upon specific principles of team-based learning, and comprises phases that meld together individual preparation and group participation before, during and after class. Our evaluation of the TaBLE Case Method highlights how it enhances group learning by: increasing student motivation to prepare, attend and engage; creating individual accountability for group goals; fostering critical thinking and creative debate; and making theory-practice links more visible. We also discuss the method's "shadowsides" and limitations, and provide guidance on how the method can be adapted for a variety of class sizes and delivery modes. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

In this qualitative study, we explore the potential of an innovative case study approach in a personal finance course among college students with the goal of making the course inclusive for students who are from economically disadvantaged families and traditionally have unsuccessful experiences in math. Students were required to create their own cases based on their unique, diverse backgrounds. Student reflections on their personal case study projects underwent thematic analyses. Our analysis documents the benefits and barriers perceived by students in this unique case study implementation, which has implications for promoting inclusive teaching in personal finance course design and delivery. This study aimed to uncover the competitive advantages of King Khalid University (KKU) as a higher educational institution and identify the strategies needed to strengthen its competitive stance through a qualitative case study approach. Data were collected via detailed interviews with 30 university staff, comprising 19 faculty members and 11 academic leaders. Following this, the data were qualitatively analyzed using MAXQDA 2022 software. The results showed that KKU has 30 sub-competitive strengths, including work ethics, future vision, academic excellence, creativity, teamwork, respect for intellectual property, continuous customer-focused improvement, a positive workplace environment, organizational trust, and the ability to attract international students. Additionally, the study identified 8 challenges hindering KKU's advancement in global university rankings, spanning academic, human, and administrative areas. To improve its standing in international rankings, thematic analysis revealed 11 strategies to enhance KKU's competitiveness. These include aligning academic programs with job market demands, enhancing research facilities, boosting funding for academic and research endeavors, fostering international academic and scientific partnerships, and upgrading the technological infrastructure for academics and administration. The analysis underscores the need for KKU to adopt a comprehensive suite of academic, human, and administrative strategies to bolster its competitive position. This is crucial for KKU's rise in global university rankings and its alignment with the National Vision 2030, aiming to place over five Saudi universities among the top 100 or 200 globally. Increased energy demand, acceleration of renewable energy, and response to climate change are global challenges that are being faced today. To overcome this, education for sustainable development (ESD) is a concept that can be implemented through the renewable energy learning project (RELP) in physics lessons. This study analyzes the project-based learning on the RELP concept and its influence on project design, communication, and critical thinking skills. By using a one-shot case study method on 37 high school students divided into five groups, two types of renewable energy works were created: solar and wind. The results found that the students had the above three skills in the high category. Additionally, project design and communication skills significantly influenced critical thinking. Purpose: This study examines the impact of the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business (AACSB) accreditation on education quality. We discern the prospective influences of AACSB, focusing on shifts in teaching methods and content and assessment procedures. Design/methodology/approach: Using a case study approach, in-depth interviews are conducted with a Japanese-accredited business school's faculty members to understand their perceptions of the school's education-quality issues. The data were thematically analyzed. Findings: Respondents acknowledged that AACSB accreditation has positively influenced teaching, encouraging active learning and the case method. However, they also indicated that accreditation had a restrictive effect on assessment activities, pushing toward compliance rather than genuine learning evaluation. This dichotomy suggests a need for balancing standard adherence with the flexibility to maintain educational depth and assessment integrity. Research limitations/implications: Convenience sampling may introduce self-selection bias. Furthermore, the qualitative case study approach does not allow for statistical generalization. However, when combined with existing literature, the findings can be analytically generalized and transferred to other contexts. Originality/value: We provide insights regarding AACSB accreditation's impact on business education, encompassing shifts in teaching methods and content and faculty perceptions of assessment. The article substantiates the need to find and implement the latest learning technologies for students of higher medical education in the context of modern circumstances in Ukraine, which have caused the situation that a certain part of teaching is conducted remotely. This reduces the possibility for students to acquire the competencies defined by the discipline program. The principles of teaching with the use of dialogue technology were analyzed according to the literature. The positive effects of dialogue training on the development of communicative skills, the ability to express one's thoughts and ideas, and to listen to others have been identified. Meaningful dialogue contributes to a deeper understanding of the educational material and can be used as a basis for solving problem situations, working in groups, using the case method, in project technology. In addition, a dialogic approach to learning is an opportunity to support the development of critical thinking. Certain problems in the introduction of dialogic technology in higher medical education are also pointed out: the presence of diagnostic and treatment protocols in medicine somewhat limits discussions in the educational process. The implementation of the principles of dialogical learning in pediatrics teaching at the final stages of higher medical education and in students' research work is demonstrated. Conclusions. The search for alternative methods of education in higher medical education institutions is an urgent problem today. The dialogical method of learning, as a progressive method, should be included in the teaching process, as a method that promotes self-criticism, the development of students' communicative skills, and has a positive influence on cognitive activity. Effective dialog among students and between students and teachers is possible in any variant of the educational process: in the classroom, at a distance and in a mixed format. The successful implementation of the dialogical teaching method in clinical teaching requires its thorough methodical development. Young people in vulnerable situations tend to have more difficulties realizing successful formal education trajectories. It is extremely important to conduct studies that explore the key dimensions that can help young people overcome the conditioning of vulnerable situations, assisting in the achievement of academic success. According to the existing literature, one of these key dimensions is psychosocial well-being. Thus, this qualitative research aims to identify and analyze psychosocial factors that favor successful school pathways among young people in vulnerable situations. Through a case study approach, 12 in-depth interviews were carried out with 12 young Spanish people who not only have a vulnerable background but also successful formal education trajectories. The data were explored through qualitative content analysis—NVivo11. The results revealed that young people generally associate their successful educational trajectory with the positive impact of psychosocial factors, such as the following: positive caregivers' valuation of formal education and positive school experiences and support networks. Young people also point to many negative school experiences that have been overcome via positive attitudes and individual protective factors. The youngsters suggest changes in the educational system and teachers' skills in order to improve the levels of psychosocial support in formal education contexts. Background The Basics in Medical Education (BiME) course aims to promote faculty development within the Faculty of Medicine and Surgery, University of Malta. Despite being offered free of charge the turnout has been underwhelming. This research aimed to identify barriers to staff attendance. Methods A qualitative, explanatory, single-case study was performed in 2020 after obtaining Ethics Committee permission. Data was collected via semi-structured interviews with faculty members who self-selected to participate after receiving an invitation email; and through documentation analysis of anonymised participant feedback forms collected from previous iterations of the course held in 2018 and 2019. Data analysis was performed using Pattern Matching. Results Individual and institutional barriers to attendance were identified. The main barrier was an individual’s personal characteristics, particularly a lack of appreciation of the importance of faculty development. Other barriers included a lack of time; a reduced awareness of the concept of separate professional and educator identities; a lack of information about the course; a feeling of isolation from the faculty community; and a possible insufficiency of institutional governance and recognition. Funding, and the interprofessional aspect of the course, were found not to be barriers to attendance. Conclusions An understanding of the specific barriers to attendance at the BiME course may allow the Faculty to mitigate these, encouraging staff attendance, and thus promote faculty development in medical education at the University of Malta. This study investigates how the perceptions of graduate students within a doctoral program in a midsized higher education institution in Southwest Florida evolved over a semester regarding multicultural education and impacted their careers and professional lives. A qualitative case study method was utilized with multiple data sources collected, including interviews, students' written papers, students' presentations, as well as online discussions and assignments that aimed to prepare educational leaders within culturally diverse topics while challenging and impacting their perceptions about diversity, race, cultural, and multicultural education experiences. The findings were that post-doctoral coursework in the area of multicultural education produced three significant themes: (1) false understanding of what multicultural education encompassed, (2) increased awareness of self-biases, lack of resources and training, and (3) finally, a feeling of helplessness where participants want to see transformation but are unable to affect change. This study aims to conduct a comparative analysis of diverse moral and value-based frameworks within the context of peace education. The selected schools represent three distinct ideological orientations: secular and faith-neutral (Roots Millennium School System/RMS), faith-inspired (International Islamic University School-IIUI School System), and faith-based Deobandi Madrassa (Jamia' Faridiyya Islamabad). Employing a comparative case study approach, the research endeavors to address several key research questions: What religious or moral-ethical philosophies underlie the distinct moral frameworks of each school system? How have these schools developed formal and informal strategies to translate these philosophies into practical implementation? To what extent are these frameworks influenced by specific religious worldviews and responsive to challenges in political, economic, or cultural spheres? What dimensions of peace education are encompassed within these values-based frameworks? The findings of the study reveal that all three types of schools possess the potential to foster peace education. However, each school employs a unique approach based on its underlying ethical framework. This study underscores the importance of considering the ethical frameworks of educational institutions when devising peace education programs and policies. Furthermore, it emphasizes the significance of cultivating an inclusive and diverse learning environment that nurtures respect for varying moral frameworks and cultivates critical thinking concerning ethical dilemmas. The promotion of teacher entrepreneurial behavior (TEB) is important for advancing educational change and innovation in schools. However, the principals' role in facilitating TEB has not been conceptualized in the context of educational leadership theory. This study investigates teachers' perceptions of principal leadership in cultivating TEB. Using a case study approach, we show how entrepreneurial teachers actualized innovative school-based curriculums in three successful schools. Several principal leadership practices were found to support the teachers when performing TEB. Language is the mode of identity and recognition. Summer learning programs are essential in helping children and young people interact and develop solid ethical bonds in different communities. The study aims to determine the effectiveness and applicability of the teaching model or approach adopted by the schools in Switzerland in teaching and learning German as a foreign language. The study adopts a case study approach to choose a summer language course program under the Swiss boarding School Montana. A qualitative approach has been employed to gauge the effectiveness of teaching German as a foreign language in the Swiss boarding school in Montana. Results: The study reviews Communicative Language Theory (CLT) and explores the designed curriculum for teaching German as a foreign language (GFL). It is revealed that the teachers developed their activities through the communicative activities described by CLT. The study concludes that adopting pre-communicative activities as a part of the teaching method is more effective in learning German as a foreign language. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
