Sports and Physical Education (SPE), like any other discipline, contributes to students' education. These students, for a good acquisition of teaching content, should be invited to take notes of the theoretical and technological knowledge conveyed by Physical and Sport Activities (PSA), subject of teaching. This quantitative and qualitative study aims to identify the usefulness of the implementation of theoretical knowledge and note-taking of the information taught in the training of students in Physical Education classes at the secondary school level. To achieve this objective, certain key concepts from "The Anthropological Theory of Didactics" by Chevallard were employed. In accordance with this theoretical framework, a methodological approach was adopted that focuses on administering questionnaires to students in the second cycle. These students meet the criterion of regular attendance at physical education courses in two secondary colleges. This approach includes recording three sessions of physical education courses and conducting interviews with each teacher at the course's conclusion. The results indicated that the students do not have a favorable relationship with the theoretical knowledge transmitted in PE during the practice of the different Physical and Sports Activities (PSA). This is due to the fact that the teacher does not focus the student's attention on what he or she has really learned and what he must retain in order to facilitate the practice of the different Physical and Sports Activities. To summarize, the essential finding derived from this study was that students in PE would greatly benefit from an introduction of theoretical courses combined with written documentation of the pedagogical information provided. The integration of both elements could foster the development of citizens who are proficient both physically and intellectually.

Recognizing the contributions that school sport can make to the wellbeing of students, this paper proposes a "re-imagined" school sport framework. School Sport for All (SS4A) places students at the center of building a program where development and wellbeing are prioritized. The SS4A framework fully integrates and promotes key aspects from comprehensive school health, whole-child education, and long-term athlete development throughout all its features. As a whole, SS4A aims to ensure the benefits of sport can be experienced by all, within a school system where teaching and learning are prioritized in the classroom and in the school community.

This study aims to compare the environmental attitudes of college students who participate in outdoor sports. This study's sample group consisted of 320 university student volunteers who participate in outdoor sports (n=147) and non-participants in outdoor sports (n=173). The Environmental Attitude Inventory (EAI) developed by Milfont and Duckitt (2006) was used to assess participants' environmental attitudes. Turkish validity and reliability analysis of the original form was conducted by Ak (2008). The data obtained from the survey results were collected using Microsoft Excel program and analyzed using SPSS 18.0 package program. Descriptive statistics methods (frequency, percentage, arithmetic mean, and standard deviation) were used in the analysis of the obtained data. In addition, the T-test for independent samples was used to compare the means of two different groups, and the one-way analysis of variance (ANOVA) was used to investigate the differences between the means. On the other hand, Pearson's correlation analysis was used to determine the correlation between the groups. In the analysis of the results, a significance level of p > 0.005 and p > 0.01 was assumed. As a result, the environmental attitudes of the participants in outdoor sports were more favorable than those of the others. If participation in outdoor sports is widespread and children's participation in these activities is encouraged, it could be essential in preserving nature and enhancing environmental awareness.

Sports participation in adolescents may increase social self-efficacy and decrease social anxiety with time. Understanding the correlation between social self-efficacy and social anxiety may be useful for developing effective interventions for adolescents with social anxiety. The aim of this study is to examine the relationship between social self-efficacy and social anxiety in athlete and non-athlete adolescents through some variables. A moderate negative correlation was determined between the participants' social self-efficacy and social anxiety levels. It was seen that social self-efficacy and social anxiety levels did not differ statistically according to gender variable. According to the age variable, it was determined that the social self-efficacy level of 16-year-old participants was higher than 15-year-old participants. According to the athletic variable of the study, it was determined that the social self-efficacy level of athlete participants was higher than non-athletes. In the study, it was determined that social anxiety levels did not differ statistically according to athletic status. As a result, it can be said that high social self-efficacy decreases the level of social anxiety in adolescents. Social self-efficacy and social anxiety levels of adolescents do not vary according to gender. While 16 years old participants had higher social self-efficacy than 15 years old participants, their social anxiety levels did not differ according to 15 and 16 years of age. Social self-efficacy of athlete adolescents is higher than nonathletes. In addition, it can be said that there is no statistically significant correlation between participation to sport and social anxiety in adolescents.

In the largest survey to date on Catholic school identity in athletics (49 U.S. States, n = 2273), administrators, counselors, and teachers responded to a survey about the perceived value of interscholastic athletics, school support of athletics, the contribution of coaches to school mission, Catholic identity in athletics, and the importance of the school's athletic director and coaches to have a mission orientation. The results of the study indicate that administrators, counselors, and teachers have positive perceptions of Catholic high school athletics. Teacher perceptions differed more than administrators and counselors based on their age, gender, and religion. At least one Catholic high school from each state except Wyoming (which has no Catholic high school) participated in the study, informing a national perspective.

Nowadays, we face a profound fragmentation of knowledge, which is addressed in distinctive ways, conforming to the specifics of each field of knowledge and having a specific lexicon and ways to interpret reality. To better understand and communicate the complexity of the reality of motor and sports sciences in Italy, it is necessary to study its ontology based on a holistic and comprehensive approach such as System Thinking (ST). So, this preliminary review aimed to verify the coherence of terminology used by Italian academics (who study methodologies related to teaching) and practical communities (who live the reality of daily teaching) in motor and sports sciences, specifically regarding the didactic of physical and sports education. For this purpose, according to Design Based Research (DBR), a first investigation of the interpretative semantics of the discipline's specific terms was accomplished with the support of multiple sources of information such as documents, databases, and brainstorming performed by experts (representing the guiding team and stakeholders from all considered communities). Moreover, the frequency of some terms and keywords considered in European (ERC) and Italian (CUN) legislation was assessed to contextualize better the impact of common practice community keywords on the scientific and regulatory community. Successively, the studies that analyzed the terms from 2000 to 2020 in the leading scientific search engines (SCOPUS and Web of Science) were also investigated. Results indicate that in the CUN and ERC areas, there is a total absence of the most relevant lemma to the community of practice. Furthermore, significant terms such as play, sports education, psychomotricity, and gymnastics are less considered or unconsidered in the specific scientific and didactic fields. Possible solutions for a specific semantic model to reduce the gap are finally hypothesized and presented.

This integrative literature review explores the imperative for implementing Sports Development Officer (SDO) roles within higher education institutions (HEIs). The review synthesizes existing literature to highlight the importance of sports development in promoting holistic student development, enhancing campus culture, and fostering essential life skills. It underscores the need for dedicated SDO positions to address the evolving demands of sports management, provide strategic leadership, and optimize resource allocation. Best practices and innovations in sports management, including leveraging technology and promoting diversity in sports participation, are identified, offering valuable insights for HEIs. The review also discusses policy implications, advocating for institutional commitment to sports development and the professionalization of sports management through curriculum integration. By prioritizing sports development and embracing evidence-based practices, HEIs can enrich the student experience, promote well-being, and cultivate vibrant campus communities. This review provides actionable recommendations for policymakers, university administrators, and sports management professionals to harness the transformative power of sports within HEIs.

The ongoing underrepresentation of Iraqi school students in science, mathematics, and PE (physical education) (SMPE) in general, and especially in PE demonstrates the need to develop and implement strategic high impact practice, such as new effective teaching strategies that not only improve students' academic outcomes but also foster student development holistically. In Iraqi schools, there is a need to help students persist and remain interested in their discipline and academic level; hence, this study aims to explore the effects of various PE STA (spectrum teaching approaches), the TGFU (teaching game for understanding), and TTA (traditional teaching approach) on intermediate school students' HBS (basic handball skills). A total of 90 male students participated in the present study. In EGs (experimental groups), the STA and TGFU were employed for EG1 (experimental group one) and EG2 (experimental group two), while the TTA was used for CG (control group). The results of the SPANOVA test showed a significant effect of the STA and TGFU approaches in enhancing the BHS in favour of the STA. However, there were no statistically significant differences in the interaction between Test time and teaching groups. The value of research does not require only coming up with solutions to a problem (under study) but also revealing new concerns worthy of investigation and analysis, such as investigating this tool's effectiveness in teaching other sports.

Movement training is thought to be very important in terms of learning both basic motor skills and new techniques in sports branches. Rhythmic gymnastics apparatus technique applications, which is a widely used method in movement training; it aims to display predetermined choreography in harmony with various tools. In this context, the aim of this experimental study is to examine the effect of rhythmic gymnastics equipment technique, which is predicted to be a good tool to improve reaction performance for movement educators and athletes, on various hand and foot reaction parameters. A total of 42 female athletes, including 22 experimental group members who had not previously practiced rhythmic gymnastics and 20 control group members, were included in the study on voluntary basis. The reaction performances of the athletes were determined using the ÇAGIN Hand and Foot Reaction Test. Data were analyzed using the SPSS 26.0 package program using Repeated Measures-ANOVA and descriptive statistics. In the pretest-posttest results of the reaction time of the individuals, it was determined that the hand simple and discriminative reaction time and foot discriminative reaction time of the experimental group decreased significantly (p<0.05). In the pretest-posttest results regarding the individuals' correct reaction rates, it was determined that only the foot selective reaction correct rate of the experimental group increased significantly (p<0.05). As a result of the study, it was observed that the application of the apparatus technique generally positively affected the athletes' hand and foot reaction times and the accuracy of the reactions.

Football teams draw the largest crowds of any American collegiate sport, and with them, both positive and negative attention for colleges and universities. Nearly 50 colleges have added the sport recently, but little research has examined the institutional effects of adding a team. Some of these institutions are regional research universities adding the sport as part of broad plans to transform campus identities, while at smaller public and private institutions, adding a football team (with approximately 100 members) appears to be an attempt to boost racial diversity and the number of male students. This study uses difference-in-difference models to find that adding a football team appears to have a significant, but short-term, effect on enrollment and tuition revenue. The long-term effects of adding the sport do not appear to be statistically significant. This raises questions about the costs and benefits of adding football at a time when higher education faces significant challenges attracting students.

Concussions are an important issue facing the short- and long-term health of athletes. News media play an important role in shaping public perceptions of concussions. However, such coverage often provides inaccurate information, disinformation, and/or trivializes concussions. To address the problem, the Concussion Legacy Foundation (CLF) provides workshops to teach journalists to responsibly report about concussions during live and post-competition coverage. Spearheaded by journalism instructors, the present study tested the effectiveness of the workshops through an experiment with 90 college journalism students. Students who completed the training showed improvement in scores on a "concussion in sport" literacy exam. They also performed better on the examination than students in a control condition. Results suggest the training is effective and could be standardized for those studying to work in the field of sports journalism.

Perfectionism is a multidimensional personality trait with two higher-order dimensions; perfectionistic strivings and perfectionistic concerns. The purpose of the present study was to explore and evaluate the two-factor model for the first time using three instruments developed to measure perfectionism in sport. In doing so, we (i) assessed the fit of two-factor models when including and excluding various contentious subscales (other-oriented perfectionism, parental pressure, coach pressure, organisation, and negative reactions to imperfection) and (ii) compared two-factor models to alternative one-factor (or unidimensional) models. Participants were recruited from community and university sports clubs in the UK (N = 527; M age = 18.07 years, SD = 0.49) and completed the Sport-Multidimensional Perfectionism Scale-2, the Multidimensional Inventory of Perfectionism in Sport, and the Performance Perfectionism Scale-Sport. Support was found for the two-factor model, with superior fit displayed each time the aforementioned subscales were excluded and, in all cases, when compared to a unidimensional model. The findings suggest that the two-factor model is an adequate representation of the underlying structure of instruments designed to measure perfectionism in sport with better fit and conceptual clarity offered by more parsimonious models.

Interactive learning environments improve students' achievement level and ability to contribute to the learning of other students, communication skills and ability to interact with others, and behavior of students. Interactive learning environments aware students of the educational potential of technology. The current study aims to develop an interactive learning environment for physical education students and the differences between an interactive learning environment and a traditional learning environment. The researcher collects data from 324 Chinese students about the impact of these two types of education by using qualitative and quantitative methods. The study identifies interactive learning skills that improve the ability of sportsmen to enhance overall performance and establish high sporting skills. The study found that sustainable education technologies can be used to support and enhance large-scale creative and collaborative physical education by providing technology instruction to athletes with an interactive learning environment. The study suggests that an interactive learning environment creates a comfortable learning environment that focuses students' attention and enhances students in learning.

Aim: The aim of this research is to examine whether the sports status of high school students has any effect on their self-confidence and to examine them in terms of different variables. Material & Method: The population of the research consists of students studying in high schools located in Kilis. The sample of the study consists of 415 students, 210 male and 205 female, randomly selected from high schools in Kilis. A personal information form developed by the researchers was used to collect information about the independent variables. The "Self-Confidence Scale", developed by Akin (2007) as a data collection tool to measure students' self-confidence levels, was used to determine the existing self-confidence levels of individuals. While evaluating the study data, descriptive statistical methods were used. Independent sample T-Test and ANOVA Test were used in the analysis of the data. In the analyzes used, the level of significance was determined as p<0.05. Results: In the obtained findings, no statistical significance was found in terms of the variable of students' gender and active sports year. Statistically significant was observed in terms of grade variable, active sports involvement variable and sports type. Conclusion: It was concluded that high school students who do sports are more self-confident than those who do not. It was concluded that as the grade level of the student increased, the self-confidence also increased. It has been concluded that students who do team sports are more self-confident than those who do individual sports.

The aim of this study is to examine the effect of university sports environment perception on academic motivation. A total of 206 students studying at various faculties of Bayburt University participated in the research. In the study, the "Personal Information Form" created by the researchers to determine the demographic information of university students, the "University Sports Environment Scale" to determine the university sports environment, and the "Academic Motivation Scale" to determine the academic motivation levels were used. The analysis of the obtained data was made in the statistical program (SPSS 25). According to the results obtained, it was determined that male participants had higher perception levels of university sports environment and academic motivation levels compared to female participants. In the analysis of the data according to the age variable, it was determined that the participants in the age group of 24 and over had higher perception levels of the university sports environment than the participants in the 20-21 age group. When the data were analyzed according to the faculties of the participants, it was found that the participants in the faculty of sports sciences had higher perception levels of the university sports environment compared to the participants in the vocational school. When the correlation between Academic Motivation and University Sports Environment Perception is examined, it is seen that there is a positive and significant relationship between University Sports Environment Perception and Academic Motivation, and all of the University Sports Environment sub-dimensions are the predictors of organizational happiness.

The aim of the research is to investigate the effect of intrapersonal intelligence profiles of students studying at Faculty of Sport Sciences on their metacognitive awareness levels. General screening and relational screening models were used. The research group consisted of 308 students studying at Afyon Kocatepe University Faculty of Sport Sciences in the 2021-2022 academic year. In the research, Intrapersonal Intelligence part of the "Self-Assessment Inventory in Multiple Intelligence Domains" and "Metacognitive Awareness Inventory" were used as data collection tools. Frequency values, percentage values, one-way variance analysis "ANOVA" test, Independent Samples t-test, and "Tukey HSD test" were used for data analysis. In addition, Correlation and Regression tests were applied to determine the relationships between intrapersonal intelligence and metacognitive awareness levels. In conclusion, significant differences were found between the students' intrapersonal intelligence and metacognitive awareness levels and the procedural knowledge sub-dimension, according to the gender variable. According to the department variable, there were found significant differences between the sub-scales of planning, monitoring, and managing knowledge and the intrapersonal intelligence means, however there weren't seen significant differences according to the branch variable. In the correlation and regression tests, it was seen a positive and significant relationship between the level of intrapersonal intelligence and the sub-scales of metacognitive awareness.

Special Olympics promotes the health of their athletes year-round and offers their athletes options to obtain free health screenings. Following screening events, athletes often have difficulties finding needed referral care. Obstacles to finding a healthcare provider (HCP) for a referral is what necessitates the need for a state-wide HCP referral list in South Dakota. Creation of a HCP referral list was done via an online two-part survey and sent to HCPs throughout the state of South Dakota. Currently, this is the only database of healthcare providers that is accessible to individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD) that are members of Special Olympics South Dakota (SOSD). While the created referral list offers increased opportunities to access HCPs in South Dakota, there are still limits to ensuring easy access to HCPs throughout the entire state.

Background: Physical activity and modes of sport are widely adopted to promote health, wellbeing, behavioural outcomes and educational attainment in young people excluded from education. However, little is known about the physical activity or sports involvement of excluded young people or the role of participation on predictors and outcomes associated with exclusion. Aims: The study aimed to understand (i) how active excluded young people are, (ii) whether predictors of school exclusion are influenced by participation in physical activity or sport and (iii) if physical activity or sports participation moderates the relationship between school exclusion and health, behavioural and educational outcomes. Methods: Millennium Cohort Study Wave 6 data were analysed using linear multiple regression models. Participants were 11,066 young people. Dependent variables were physical activity or sports participation. Independent variables included school exclusion, body composition and physical health, cognitive and educational outcomes, crime, anti-social and harmful behaviours, mental health and individual demographic predictors. Results: Multiple regression analysis of Millennium Cohort Study Wave 6 data indicates young people excluded from education participate in more (+20.71 ± 9.72, p = 0.03) minutes of physical activity but less (-22.38 ± 32.52, p = 0.49) minutes of sport than non-excluded participants. Physical activity or sport did not influence predictors or outcomes associated with exclusion. Conclusion: Findings indicate young people excluded from education participate in 8% more MVPA, but 13% less sport than peers not excluded from education. These findings highlight concerns related to the provision of school sports and physical education opportunities for young people excluded from education. Moreover, these findings question the role of physical activity or sport as a silver bullet within UK educational policy.

This study examined the identity resources available to Black and Brown students who play football across space in their school, and how the resources were used to navigate situations of race, racism and identity. Natural conversations and participant observations detailed experiences, identities, and resistance as they moved through spaces within their school environment. Sociocultural learning theories frame their experiences through composite space narratives. Reframing what constitutes learning, who's considered an educator and what are considered educational spaces is necessary. Findings provide implications for identities being supported across space and the role of football coaches in facilitating learning.

UK university undergraduate programs are compared by independent subject-specific rankings (Complete, Guardian, and Times), based on data from the National Student Survey, Higher Education Statistics Agency, Universities and Colleges Admissions Service, Research Excellence Framework, and the universities. The sports and exercise science program at the University of Glasgow has steadily risen to currently rank as the top UK program. This investigation aimed to identify the underlying factors that explain this. Therefore, we obtained underlying scores for entry standard, student satisfaction, research foundation, graduate prospects, staff-to-student ratio, expenditure/student, continuation, program support to students, and teaching quality from the ranking providers for years 2010-2024, and statistically modeled which factors significantly affected the rankings. We found that entry standards and graduate prospects strongly correlated significantly with ranking results. Principal component analysis indicated that a model of graduate prospects and entry standards explained 66.2% of the variance in ranking results. Multiple linear regression with all underlying factors included in the model indicated they explained 78% (R[superscript 2] = 0.78) of the total variance, while stepwise elimination of insignificant factors identified graduate prospects as the sole factor that significantly affected outcome by explaining 71% (R[superscript 2] = 0.71) of the variance. Therefore, the primary predictor of ranking success in UK university league tables for sports science is graduates' professional success (graduate prospects).

In the United States, culturally responsive computing is a framework that aims to support broadening the participation of racially and linguistically diverse children in computing and technology education through bottom-up interventions that are community-oriented, technology rich, and culturally dynamic. Despite the important role that youth sports play in many local neighborhoods and communities across demographic groups there is only a small amount of research on developing culturally responsive computing education that incorporates these activities. We report findings from a culturally responsive computing collaboration between computing education researchers and coaches, mentors, and academic staff who ran a youth boxing program that predominantly served African American children. The purpose of the collaboration was to learn about and represent the adults' expertise and knowledge in the co-development of culturally responsive computing activities. Using an emergent mixed methods research design, we collected qualitative data (i.e., interviews and group discussions) and quantitative data (i.e., pre- and post-surveys) throughout the collaboration. We analyzed these data to study how coaches, mentors, and staff members brought their knowledge and expertise to bear on the co-development of culturally responsive computing activities for the youth boxing program. Our findings show how the coaches, mentors, and academic staff used their expertise and knowledge in ways that leveraged boxing culture to go beyond boxing itself in the co-development of the activities. In addition, even when connections between computing and boxing did not appear authentically motivated this did not negate the adults' engagement with the culturally responsive computing project. These findings have implications for anti-deficit theorizing about authenticity and inauthenticity in the co-development of culturally responsive computing in youth sports contexts. The construction of authenticity in culturally responsive computing might be less understood as a direct translation from community into education and more so as a negotiation between locally defined demarcations of what is considered authentic and inauthentic.

The application of artificial intelligence in physical education (AIPE) has provided new ways to improve learning and teaching activities in physical classes. However, literature reviews that provide a systematic review and analysis of AIPE are limited. To address this gap, this study provided an overview of AIPE-related empirical research. Specifically, it examined the general state of AIPE, algorithms used for AIPE, and the impact and challenges of AIPE. Following the Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses, 130 empirical studies related to AIPE were included in the final synthesis. The findings of this study demonstrated that numerous studies have explored the use of AI technologies to enhance physical education classes and training processes. These technologies have been widely employed in athletic performance analysis, health monitoring, and personalized training. AIPE offered great potential for providing personalized instruction, real-time feedback and assessment, and diverse learning environments. However, the use of AI technology poses challenges, including technical reliability and accuracy, privacy and security issues, as well as technical training and teacher support. These findings provide insights for future research on AIPE.

Background: While barriers to participation in physical activity are well documented, there is no consolidated evidence on strategies promoting participation of people with intellectual disability in physical activities. Methods: We conducted a scoping review to examine initiatives used to facilitate the inclusion of people with intellectual disability in community-based sporting and recreation activities. We searched Medline, Embase, CINAHL+ and PsycINFO for articles published in English between 2000 and 2022. Results: Eight articles were included. Initiatives included: (1) building knowledge, awareness and attitudinal change (2) organisational alliances/partnerships (3) relationship-building (4) modifications/adaptions to activities/environment (5) organisational policy (6) engagement with people with disability. Initiatives were implemented through international collaborations, in local fitness/recreational facilities and public spaces, and targeted athletes, coaches, volunteers and organisational leaders. Conclusion: While some increase in awareness and inclusion of people with intellectual disability was reported, no longitudinal data reported on the impact of initiatives on sustained social inclusion for people with intellectual disability.

The Achievement Goal Theory has been commonly used in the literature and the relation between the goal orientation construct and aspects of athletes' personality and well-being is an important element to be considered in the sports field. The objectives of this study were: (i) to confirm the reliability, factorial invariance and existence of latent mean differences of the Goal Orientations in Exercise Scale (GOES) in an Ecuadorian sample across sex; (ii) to identify the existence of subgroups of Ecuadorian students with different profiles of goal orientations to exercise; and (iii) to determine the differences in resilience and life satisfaction among these profiles. A total of 597 Ecuadorian students from the Sports Sciences degree participated in this study. Confirmatory factorial analysis supported the two-dimensional (ego-task) GOES structure. The GOES has an adequate reliability and structural invariance across sex. Significant latent mean differences on the "ego" orientation subscale were found across sex but not in the "task" one. Cluster analysis identified three task-ego orientation profiles: (1) moderately high on "task" and low on "ego"; (2) low on "task" and slightly high on "ego"; (3) high in both "task" and "ego" orientation. Post hoc comparisons showed statistical differences in resilience between the three profiles and in life satisfaction between the profile 3 and profiles 1 and 2. The current study allows the possibility of using the GOES as an invariant and reliable scale in Ecuadorian sample and initiates the use of goal orientation profiles and their relationship with resilience and life satisfaction in the sports field.

This study aimed to determine the relationship between narcissism and team cohesion of transformational leadership and individual sports athletes interactions. In particular, individual sports can present a model to verify the level of perception of team cohesion according to the type of record sports and martial arts sports. Transformational leadership, narcissism, and team cohesion were measured among 225 college athletes. SPSS 24.0, Amos 24.0, PROCESS Macro programs (Model No. 5) were used for data analysis. The analysis includes frequency analysis, Cronbach's alpha values, confirmatory factor analysis (CFA), Pearson's correlation, and moderating effect. Transformational leadership significantly positively affected team cohesion and narcissism. Non-narcissism also significantly positively affected team cohesion. The interaction between transformational leadership and individual athletes was significantly higher for martial arts sports. Team cohesion was also important for athletes in individual sports, thus expanding the boundaries of transformational leadership theory. To cultivate a sports team (organization), strategic sports management will be necessary to enhance team cohesion.

The stay-at-home measures enacted during the COVID-19 pandemic led to sudden changes in the lives of individuals worldwide. For high school student-athletes, these changes meant transitioning to online schooling, heavily reducing their social activities, and enduring the cancelation of sport activities. Scholars have expressed concerns related to the potential consequences of these changes on adolescents' self-identity and psychological distress. The purpose of the present study was to qualitatively explore how the changes induced by the COVID-19 pandemic affected high school student-athletes' self-identity and psychological distress. Twenty-two Canadian high school student-athletes were interviewed using a semi-structured interview format. Transcripts were subjected to a reflexive thematic analysis, leading to the creation of four central themes: (a) Pre-COVID Identity; (b) COVID Identity Confusion; (c) COVID Psychosocial Distress; and (d) Learning to Dance in the COVID Rain. This study sheds light on the pandemic-related experiences of high school student-athletes in relation to sport cancelation measures and provides insights into how stay-at-home restrictions impacted self-identity and psychological distress levels. These results can help inform interventions aimed at supporting the well-being of high school student-athletes now that school sport programs have resumed operations.

COVID-19 has led to quarantines, isolations, and social separations worldwide. Universities use distance education and blended learning especially for practical courses. The purpose of this study was to investigate the effectiveness of blended learning via Edmodo on students' performance and attitude when learning some fundamental boxing skills. Thirty-two students from 124 enrolled in a boxing sport course were randomly selected. A quasi-experimental design was used by creating a control group and an experimental group. A flipped classroom strategy was used to teach basic boxing skills to the experimental group via Edmodo. The control group was taught via teacher command style. Results of the post-measurements of overall skill performance score indicated that the experimental group outperformed the control group with a large effect size of ([eta][superscript 2] = 0.73). The Edmodo students also demonstrated positive attitudes. A blended learning program via Edmodo influences positively on learning boxing skills and motivates them to learn.

From the chaos of 2020 arose many social conversations, among which were the legal rights of gay and transgender Americans. Landmark cases established precedents for potential legislation and reform regarding the transgender community. One particular issue is that of transgender athletes in college sports. While many are in staunch opposition to a future where people who are born male may play on women's sports teams in college, legal battles indicate the possibility that gender may cease to be a deciding factor in participation on national and collegiate sports teams. The appropriate management of transgender athletes related issues has consequently become an important issue in human resources for colleges and universities. While college athletes are not currently seen as employees, the people who work with them are. The purpose of this paper is to examine, from a human resource management and legal perspective, the issue of transgender athletes playing college sports in both the court of law and the court of public opinion.

Introduction/Background: In 2016, the Adolescent Motor Competence Questionnaire (AMCQ) was developed in Australia. The AMCQ was developed to assess perceived motor competence in adolescents between the ages of 12 and 18 years. The 26 items represent four factors: participation in physical activity and sports, activities of daily living, public performance, and peer comparison. Aims/Objectives: Currently, no validated German-language self-report screening instrument exists for assessing perceived motor competence among adolescents. This study aimed to validate the German version of the AMCQ (AMCQ-GER). Methods/Approach: The German translation's factor structure and psychometric properties were analyzed based on a community sample of 635 healthy children and adolescents between 10 and 18 years of age (12.9 ± 2.31 years, 321 boys and 312 girls) and 100 healthy young adults between 19 and 30 years of age (23.0 ± 2.92 years, 49 men and 51 women). The previously validated cutoff score of [less than or equal to]83 out of 104 was used to group the sample into high and low motor competence. Results: The mean AMCQ-GER score was 84.9 (SD = 8.59), and 38.8% of the participants identified with low motor competence. The principle component analysis revealed clear evidence for a three-factorial structure comprising physical activity and sports, general clumsiness, and activities of daily living (with an explained variance of 29.2%). Reliability for all scales was excellent, with a McDonald's ? of at least 0.70. The overall conclusion of the Rasch analysis supported the confirmatory factor analysis, although with an overall smaller number of items (18 instead of 26). The AMCQ-GER was positively correlated with age (0.26**) and participation in organized club sports (0.19**). It was negatively correlated with body mass index (-0.23**) and school grade in physical activity (-0.40**). Conclusions/Relevance: Our rigorous validation protocol has generated a remarkable reproduction of the AMCQ in German. These results suggest that the language and structure of the questionnaire is appropriate for German-speaking countries.

The purpose of this research is to examine the effect of sports participation and physical activity on negative emotions and the quality of life of COVID-19. Data were collected through the personal information form, the International Physical Activity Questionnaire-Short Form, the COV19-Impact on Quality of Life scale, and Positive-Negative Affect Schedule (PANAS). Data were collected through stratified sampling from Recep Tayyip Erdogan University and Kirsehir Ahi Evran University. The sample of the study consisted of 888 students. The obtained data were analyzed using SPSS 26.0. Necessary assumptions were ensured before the analysis. Afterwards, descriptive statistics and MANOVA were used in the research. It has seen that the number of students who do not do sports under license, who passively participate in sports 2-3 times a week, and whose physical activity level is moderate are more in number. The findings show that students who do sports under license, passively participate in sports, and are physically active experienced lower levels of negative emotions and COVID-19 affected their quality of life at lower levels. As a result, it can be said that participation in sports and physical activity have an impact on negative emotions and the quality of life of COVID-19 in the sample of university students.

This paper presents a model that analyses the relationship between the coach's emotional competences and the training climate as predictors of the youngsters' emotional competences and psychological well-being. In the present study, 309 athletes and 17 coaches participated in the study. A general predictive model was estimated with path analysis and the maximum robust likelihood (MLR) estimation method. The results showed that the coach's emotional competences are associated with autonomy-supportive climates ([beta] = 0.15, p < 0.005). This climate is related to youth's emotional competences ([beta] = 0.30, p < 0.005) and lower emotional ([beta] = -0.27, p < 0.005), behavioural ([beta] = -0.51, p < 0.005), and social ([beta] = -0.33, p < 0.005) symptomatology. These results have important practical implications in designing interventions that promote coaches' emotional competences given its association with autonomy-supportive climates, which in turn are related to athletes' emotional competences and psychological well-being.

Background: Female learning of movement in elite combat sports has not been studied enough to date. Literature on movement learning and teaching of complex skills has not, to date, focused on karate, and the scarce literature on the learning of elite karate practitioners mostly does not focus on women. Nevertheless, women fighters participated in karate as an Olympic sport, even if such status was temporary, limited to Tokyo 2020 (2021). Purpose: In an analogy with Iris Marion Young's (1980) publication 'throwing like a girl', our aim in this study was to investigate what it means to learn 'to fight like a "girl"' and if there is a feminine learned fighting style. Methods: We have carried out an ethnographic project focusing, due to the unexpected impact of COVID-19, mainly on interviewing the female Spanish karate team in preparation for the Olympic Games. We interviewed 14 women athletes of the team and their four male coaches twice each and analysed 28 videos of women athletes displaying their best athletic performances, according to themselves. In this article we are focusing on the analysis of 20 videos of the "kumite" modality, then reflecting on this analysis with data from interviews of the four coaches and ten of the athletes, the "kumite" athletes. We developed a series of criteria in order to carry out the task of observation and analysis of the gendered martial-sportive movement supported by the literature, coaches' perspectives and athletes' views. The main concepts derived from the video analysis were the "use of space, restricted movements; absence of melee work; and difficulty in carrying out projections/sweeps. kumite kumite use of space, restricted movements absence of melee work difficulty in carrying out projections/sweeps." Findings: Sports karate is still configured as a (hetero)normative environment, supported in tradition, be that of martial art with its pedagogy and of sport as a male preserve. This context leads to a view of women's learning to perform as inferior to men's, perpetually comparing them, in the hierarchical structure established within the field. Concepts of equality and equity are undermined, and by performing differently, or not matching the male model, women have their performance of some complex movements qualified as a "natural inability." Conclusion: We conclude that there is a feminine way of learning to fight, but only with generalized characteristics since there is a rich plurality of styles among these elite sporting women. For the field, to fight like a "girl" means inferior performance in comparison with men's performance, however, for us, it means really 'to fight', not just on the mat, and we see such comparison as untenable.

Accessible and inclusive participation in sport can provide significant physical, psychological, and social benefits to Deaf or hard of hearing (D/HH) athletes. To understand how to facilitate these benefits, the researchers explored the lived physical education and sport experiences of D/HH collegiate athletes. Six athletes representing six sports were recruited and interviewed. Utilizing an interpretative phenomenological analysis approach to guide data collection, analysis, and interpretation, the researchers found five major themes: Self-Advocating for Awareness, Finding Meaningful Conversations, Overcoming Challenges, Seeking Community Connection, and Escaping Through Physical Activity. These themes illustrate the influence of accessibility and inclusion on the participants' sport experiences as well as the impact of the disability awareness of their coaches and peers. D/HH athletes and their coaches and teammates should work to overcome barriers to accessibility and inclusion to ensure the maximum benefit of being on a college sports team.

The aim of this study is to examine the physical literacy of high school students. Since the high school age group is between 14-18, it is designed for adolescents. Physical literacy emerges as a concept that does not date back very much. When the literature is examined, it is seen that the number of studies related to this concept is low in Turkish context. A total of 260 high school students residing in the province of Ankara participated voluntarily for this purpose. Regarding the gender distribution of the participants, 163 were female and 97 were male. Demographic information and Perceived Physical Literacy Scale for Adolescents were conducted via Google form. The scale developed by Sum et al. (2018) was adapted into Turkish by Yilmaz and Kabak (2021) has also been used for data collection. Data were collected from the accessible group by simple random sampling method. Descriptive statistics were used in the analysis of the findings. Since the groups showed normal distribution, one-way ANOVA and independent groups t-test were used in the analyses. As a result, no difference was found in the gender variable. At the grade level, significant differences were found between 9th and 11thgrades, and between 9th and 11thgradesagainst 9th.According to the status of doing sports, a significant difference was found in favor of those who do sports. According to the statistics made among those who do sports regularly every week, it was found that as the number of days of exercise increased, physical literacy also increased. The findings are discussed in the light of the relevant literature.

This study aimed to determine whether the self-confidence levels and decision-making skills of the students at Kocaeli University's Faculty of Sport Sciences and Faculty of Education differed in terms of demographic characteristics and to make recommendations in line with the results. The population consisted of a total of 2,626 students studying at Kocaeli University's Faculties of Sport Sciences and Education, and the sample consisted of 316 students who participated in the study voluntarily in the 2020- 2021 academic year. The "Self-Confidence Scale" developed by Akin (2007) and the "Decision-Making Skills" scale were used to collect data. While examining the distribution normality, the normal distribution curves and skewness-kurtosis values were examined through histograms, the Kolmogorov-Smirnov test values used in cases where the number of participants was greater than 50 were examined, and it was determined that the data did not show a normal distribution and non-parametric tests were applied. The data do not show a normal distribution. For data analysis, frequency analysis was used to examine the demographic characteristics of the participants, skewness-kurtosis values to determine whether the data showed a normal distribution, and correlation analysis to determine the correlations. The analysis results revealed that the self-confidence levels and decision-making skills of students at Kocaeli University's Faculty of Sport Sciences and Faculty of Education were significantly high in all dimensions (p < 0.05). According to the study results, the decision-making skills of the students of the Faculty of Sport Sciences and the Faculty of Education have a direct and positive effect on their self-confidence levels.

Physical Activity is an important contributor to health, both physical and cognitive. The relationship between physical activity and educational outcomes has been explored in various venues. Little research, however, has interrogated this subject longitudinally, especially for a national sample of Latinx students. To make up that gap, this paper employs data from the High School Longitudinal Study (HSLS), hierarchical regression modeling, and intersectionality theory to study and evaluate the relative impact of Extracurricular Activities, School Attitudes, and impact of demographics on Personal Health and Physical Education Grade Point Average (GPA); the participants were 1,829 Latinx high school students. The High School Longitudinal Study is a nationally representative, longitudinal study of ninth graders followed through their secondary and postsecondary years. Further, we examined the results separately for male and female Latinx students, to achieve a better understanding of physical activity and academic achievement from the female perspective. Our findings reinforce the importance of participating in sports and extracurricular activities in fostering positive educational outcomes for Latinx students, male, and female, nationally. Finally, recommendations are offered to parents, community leaders, teachers, school administrators, and policymakers regarding implementation strategies to optimize the benefits of Physical Activity to Latinx students. This study was carried out to determine the happiness levels of the students in the faculties of sports sciences and to compare them in terms of various variables. In this study, which was conducted to examine the happiness levels of the students of the faculty of sports sciences, the relational screening model was used. With this model, it is aimed to determine the existence and degree of changes by applying statistical tests and measuring the level of relationship between two or more variables as a result of the comparison (Karasar, 2012). The population of the research consists of students at Erzurum Technical University. The sample group consists of 174 students, 113 of whom are male and 61 are female. In the research, the "Personal Information Form" created by the researchers to determine the demographic information of the students of the faculty of sports sciences, and the "Happiness Scale", which was developed by Demirci and Eksi (2018) and consisting of 6 items, was used to determine the happiness levels. The analysis of the obtained data was made in the statistical program. In the study, frequency analysis to determine the demographic characteristics (personal information) of the participants, T-Test for independent variables to compare the happiness levels according to gender, marital status, sporting status and the type of sport they did; One-way Anova Test was applied to compare happiness levels according to age, class and place of residence. When comparing the happiness levels of the participants according to their gender and place of residence, significant differences were found between the groups (p<0.05), and no significant differences were found between the groups in the comparison made according to the status of doing sports and the type of sport (p>0.05). When the results obtained in the research were examined, it was determined that the happiness levels of female participants (X=3,53±0,80) were higher than male participants (X=3,99±0,80) and those living in the province (X=3,79±0,82) were higher than those living in the district (X=3,40±0,74). It has been determined that the happiness of the participants who do (X=3,68±0,87) and do not do (X=3,73±0,65) sports is at a similar level, and the happiness of the participants who do individual (X=3,66±0,88) and team sports (X=3,71±0,78) is at a similar level.

The learning styles of students vary both among individuals and across different disciplines they choose to study. In higher education, academic discipline appears to be a key factor influencing students' distinctive learning styles. This study, which aims to determine the dominant learning styles and models of talented pre-service teachers, was designed with the survey model. The study group research consisted of 1019 volunteer pre-service teachers who continued their education in Physical Education and Sports, Music, and Arts & Craft Teaching departments. In the study, the VARK Learning Style Inventory was used as a data collection tool; students were asked to answer questions in a digital environment through Google Forms. According to the research results, kinesthetic style is the dominant learning preference for preservice teachers in the visual arts and sports sciences, and both kinesthetic and aural styles are the dominant learning preferences for pre-service teachers in music education. Although talented pre-service teachers tend to learn predominantly kinesthetic and aural styles when evaluated, 61.2% of pre-service teachers prefer to learn with a Multiple Learning Model, which covers the entire instructional diversity, rather than sticking to just one learning style.

There is social and collaborative value in a diverse student body, faculty, and staff. Despite this, universities are slow to establish evidence-based fiscal initiatives to increase representation and retention. We review inequitable financial practices in American higher education, including in endowments, tuition and annual giving, athletics, and research and innovation. We discuss fiscal initiatives that promote diversity, equity, justice, and inclusion (DEJI) while maintaining or increasing return on investment. Historical inequities are discussed in the context of institutional standards and methods of restructuring for DEJI success. A case-study of two Very High Research Activity Institutions in Alabama is used to demonstrate areas of improvement. Restructuring for an equitable, fiscally responsible, sustainable university system is feasible but requires changes to current standards.

The purpose of this study is to examine the academic motivation scale of student adolescent athletes in terms of different variables. Scanning model was used during the research. While the home of the research is composed of children who actively attend formal education and actively engage in sports during the adolescence period, it consists of 552 students who are selected by random practice method, continue formal education and actively engage in sports. In order to collect the research collection, the Personal Information Form maintained by the researcher and the Assistance Academic Motivation Scale by Bozanoglu (2004) were used. All of the collected structures were transferred from IBM-SPSS 25.0 sections, they were found to have normal distribution and were analyzed using the Independent Simple T Test and One Way Anova test. According to the analyzes made, it was determined that there was a fundamental difference between the gender variable and age variable of the athletes participating in the practice and the presence of academic motivation, and there was no difference between the branch variable and the level of academic motivation. It is recommended that The educational institutions in the sports field are advised to provide professional psychological support in order to encourage students to participate in sports.
