An effort to determine the feasibility of formulating a series of criteria for assessing research collections in Federal libraries is delineated in this report. The direction of the investigation was based on a four-stage approach: (1) review the literature for relevant information; (2) enumerate and describe available guides and criteria, and evaluate their possible usefulness as components of, or contributions to standards for measurement; (3) formulate test standards; and (4) test their application in a selected number of libraries. Part I of the report is devoted to a discussion of the topics mentioned above. Part II is a bibliography including references selected from the hundreds reviewed as being most applicable and pertinent to evaluating library collections. Because advances in medical science can lead to rapid changes in current health knowledge, a library collection of medical science materials can become dated rather quickly. This factor, as well as the many variables of library use and operation which impact the availability of current materials on the library shelves--loan periods, weeding habits, book display, and others--make assessment of the available collection an important task. To test a model that would provide information about the currency of the medical science collection available on the browsing shelves of a small to medium-sized public library, books in six subject classes within the medical science collection of the Parma-Snow Library, a branch of the Cuyahoga County Public Library (Ohio), were examined for date of publication over a period of 4 weeks. Approximately 43% of the titles examined in this period were found to be greater than 5 years old. Additionally, only 2% of the sample was published within the past year. This type of finding, determined by using very simple techniques requiring a minimum of staff time and resources, provides a collection manager with valuable information about the status of the browsing collection and signals areas of the collection which need attention to assure that current information is available to the browsing patron. This paper focuses on the development of library webpages available on Engineering websites in the state of Maharashtra. In an information age/era, for any college library, its webpages integral part as central facility that the students and staffs need resources for curriculum and research works. Depending on survey and study of engineering websites throught out in Maharashtra it is tried to search information regarding various resources and library services provided. It searches all data informatics of available books, Printed journals, E-book, E-journals, Project reports, Doctoral research thesis, Reference books, Journals and periodicals, News papers, CD/DVDs , Videos , etc. Main purpose is to find out whether all details resources of library webpage are available on Engineering college websites or not.

The goal of this study was to examine the collections of eBooks in Spanish provided by vendors of library resources to school libraries to determine if there are equitable offerings of eBooks in Spanish relative to the Spanish-speaking school population in the United States. The results of the study indicated that the top vendors do provide eBooks in Spanish, but the titles comprised a small percentage of their total collections and do not mirror national demographics.

Additional information obtained by means of the Rambler, Yandex, and Google web search engines is added to the data on the collection formation of the Library of the Russian Academy of Sciences from 1714 to 1736, which was published in LRAS Chronicles, vol. 1. The significance of the private libraries that formed the basis for the formation of the collection of BAN until 1737 is characterized. Printed and electronic scientific publications, which may serve as information sources on this topic, are presented.

The main goal of our research was to establish the extent to which recordings on magnetic tapes and optical discs were incorporated into library materials offered by public libraries, which are located in the area of the municipal community of Ljubljana.Using the statistical summary books, issued by public libraries, we gathered and analysed the accretion, stocks and borrowing figures of monographic publications,audio cassettes, compact discs, video cassettes and CD-ROMs. The findings show that monographic publications are still the fundamental material of public libraries. Among audio-visual media, video cassettes represent the most extensive collection, followed in number by compact discs, audio cassettes and finally CD-ROMs. The results of the analysis of borrowed library material are totally consistent with the above stated order.Quantitative measuring has also shown that the stocks of audio-visual materials do not reach the international standards for public libraries.

ÖZETGelişen teknoloji, kurumların yönetim ve hizmet anlayışlarını yeniden ele alarak değiştirmelerini ve geleceğe uyumlu hale getirmelerini zorunlu kılmıştır. Gelişime ayak uydurma zorunluğu, bazı kurumlar için fırsat bazı kurumlar için de bir tehdit unsuru olmuştur. Kütüphaneler de bir kurum ya da kurumunu bir parçası olarak bu gelişimle karşı karşıya kalmışlardır. Bu durumu fırsat olarak gören kütüphaneler işleyişlerini bu yönde geliştirmeye başlamış, otomasyon sistemlerini en kullanışlı hale getirmek için sürekli bir çalışma içinde olmuş ve dermelerini mümkün olduğu kadar online olarak okuyucularına sunmak misyonları arasında yer almıştır. Bu gelişime ayak uydurmanın kütüphanelerin misyonu incelendiğinde zorunlu olduğu açıktır. Gelişime ayak uyduramayan kütüphanelerin durumu incelendiğinde, kaynak yetersizliği ve yönetimsel sorunlar, engel olarak karşımıza çıkmaktadır. Başka bir engel ise üst yönetimin bu sürecin nasıl yönetilmesi gerektiğini bilmemesidir.Kuruma göre sistem seçimleri doğru yapılmış, başarılı bir proje yönetimi ile gerçekleştirilen çalışmalar kurum işleyişini daha etkili ve hızlı olmasını sağlayacaktır. Bu noktada kütüphanelerin öncelikli olarak bilmeleri gereken, sayısallaştırma temel adımlarını tanımlamaktadır.E-Kütüphane hizmeti vermek isteyen kütüphaneler koleksiyonlarına sayısal kitaplar kazandırmanın yanında mevcut koleksiyonlarını sayısallaştırma yönünde çalışmalar yürütmektedir. Kütüphaneler bu hizmetleri verebilmek için kendi belirledikleri çizgiler dâhilinde, sayısallaştırma işlemleri yürütürler. Bu çalışmaların bazıları oldukça başarılı olurken bazıları da başarısızlıkla sonuçlanarak hem zaman kaybına hem de maddi kayıpları neden olabilmektedir. Aynı zamanda sayısallaştırma ile hedeflenen amaç koleksiyonlara zamandan ve mekândan bağımsız erişim sağlamak olurken, gözardı edilen telif hakları da başka sorunlar ortaya çıkarabilmektedir. Bu anlamda başarılı bir şekilde E-Kütüphane hizmeti vermek isteyen kütüphaneler sayısallaştırma süreçlerini iyi yönetmeli, alandaki örnekleri detaylı bir şekilde inceleyerek kendi yol haritalarını belirlemelidir. Change management whilst considered to be an opportunity by some organisations is perceived to be a threat by other organisations. Libraries as organisations or as an entity with organisations have had to face this challenge. Libraries that have viewed this challenge as an opportunity have started to develop their operations with this context, have been working continuously to make their automated services as useable as possible and, as far as is possible, the aim to make their collections accessible to their online readers takes its place amongst their corporate missions. Upon examining the aims of libraries it is apparent that it is mandatory for libraries to comply with new technological developments. For those libraries that are unable to change with the times, a lack of resources and management issues can be obstacles to change. Another obstacle takes the form of senior management not knowing how to handle this process.Organisations that have chosen the right system for them and have managed their projects through the project management process ensure their operations are more effective and speedily run. At this juncture the fundamental knowledge required by libraries is how to explain the main steps of digitalisation. Those libraries that aim to offer an E-Library service are carrying out projects that include adding digital books to their collections as well as digitalising current collections. Libraries carry out digitalisation processes in line within their chosen framework in order to be able to offer such services. Whilst some of these projects are very successful, some are equally unsuccessful resulting in both a waste of resources both financial and time wise. Whilst the aim of digitalisation is to make collections accessible independent of time and location the issue of copyright which can cause problems is often forgotten.Therefore those libraries that aim to offer E-Library services should manage the digitalisation processes efficiently and should also examine in detail examples of digitalisation in the field in order to determine their own road map for the process.Key words: Digitalisation, E-Library, Digitisation
