The pnicogen and halogen bonding interactions in the PH2X—-BrCl(X = H, F, OH, OCH3 and CH3) complexes have been studied at the MP2/aug-cc-pVTZ level. Analysis of interaction energies shows that the pnicogen-bonded structures are less stable than the corresponding halogen-bonded structures. The pnicogen and halogen bonds were also studied by conceptual DFT reactivity indices. Noncovalent interaction (NCI) and SAPT analysis reveals that the dispersion interactions dominate the pnicogen-bonded complexes of PH2X—-BrCl in nature, while the halogen-bonded complexes are dominantly electrostatic energy.It is found that the local softness s+ or s−on the basic center P of PH2X is related to the interaction energies (ΔECP) of halogen- or pnicogen-bonded complexes. It is interesting and important to develop cost-effective and highly efficient method for the selective reduction of nitroarenes to produce the widely applied anilines. The catalytic reaction directly driven by metal salts during which the real active species would formed is a convenient way, but the detailed mechanism need further investigation. In this work, the performance of different metal salts were studied, and it showed that iron salts were much more promising to serve as catalyst precursor. Moreover, the reaction was remarkably affected by the type of anion. The addition of other salts to the iron salts mediated system had negative effect on the reaction. In-depth study suggested that the in-situ generated hematite (α-Fe2O3) nanoparticles were the real active species. Small and uniform α-Fe2O3 nanoparticles could be formed when the reaction was carried out at relatively low temperature, while the generated nanoparticles were much larger when performed at higher temperature. Under otherwise identical conditions, the in-situ formed α-Fe2O3 also outperformed many other commercial benchmark catalysts. Abstract: This paper reports on the development of organo-modified silkworm exuviae (MSE) adsorbent prepared by using hexadecyltrimethylammonium bromide (HDTMAB) for removing methyl orange (MO), a model anionic dye, from aqueous solution. The natural and modified samples were characterized by scanning electron microscope (SEM), energy dispersive spectrometer (EDS) and Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FT-IR). Batch adsorption experiments were carried out to remove MO from its aqueous solutions using SE and MSE. It was observed that the adsorption capacity of MSE is 5–6 times of SE. The different parameters effecting on the adsorption capacity such as pH of the solution, initial dye concentration, temperature and contact time have been investigated. Analysis of adsorption results obtained at different temperatures showed that the adsorption pattern on the MSE can be described perfectly with Langmuir isotherm model compared with Freundlich and Dubinin–Radushkevich (D–R) isotherm models, and the characteristic parameters for each adsorption isotherm were also determined. The adsorption process has been found exothermic in nature and thermodynamic parameters have been calculated. The adsorption kinetic followed the pseudo-second order kinetic model. The results of FT-IR, EDS and desorption studies all suggest that methyl orange adsorption onto the MSE should be mainly controlled by the hydrophobic interaction mechanism, along with a considerable contribution of the anionic exchange mechanism. The results indicate that HDTMAB-modified silkworm exuviae could be employed as low-cost material for the removal of methyl orange anionic dye from wastewater. [Copyright &y& Elsevier]

However, achieving precise delivery and site-specific drug release poses complex challenges. Here, We present a novel nano-system combining light-responsive photothermal therapy (PTT) with photothermal-responsive chemotherapy via π − π Stacking. Conjugated polymer nanoparticles (cRGD-PTer N25/CPT NPs) is designed for spatiotemporal targeted PTT/chemotherapy. Research shows that the strong near-infrared absorption of PTer N25 endows cRGD-PTer N25/CPT NPs with excellent photothermal capabilities(57.4 %) and near-infrared laser-triggered drug release performance. The cRGD-PTer N25/CPT NPs enhanced BC-specific cellular accumulation, prolonged blood circulation, exhibited good biocompatibility, and improved PTT and chemotherapy efficacy in BC cell lines and mouse models while reducing systemic toxicity. The photothermal effect triggered the on-demand release of camptothecin (CPT), producing therapeutic effects and downregulating heat shock protein 70 (HSP 70), reducing cancer cell thermoresistance, and enhancing combined treatment efficacy. Under spatial and temporal control, the tumor growth inhibition rate of the cRGD-PTer N25/CPT NPs group reached 93.6 %, nearly eradicating tumor presence, whereas the control group exhibited only partial inhibition. Minimal cardiotoxicity and metastatic side effects are not observed. Based on the dye/salts separation efficiency and membrane injury caused by serious pollution of dye/salts wastewater, this study constructed a 2D tight ultrafiltration membrane that could both solve the membrane injury problem and improve the dye/salts separation efficiency, the compatibility of good self-healing performance and penetration performance by 2D material magnesium-aluminum Layered double hydroxide (MgAl-LDH). The self-repairing of physical injury was achieved through the swelling effect of AMPS-PAN, this property was proved by permeate flux, the retention performance of salts in dye/salts solution, the comparison of scanning electron microscope (SEM), and the mechanical strength after physical injury. The healing of chemical injury occured through the reaction of C C and polyethersulfone chain breakage, which was confirmed by X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS), permeate flux, the retention performance of salts in dye/salts solution, and mechanical property. The high separation efficiency of dye/salts was achieved through 2D material MgAl-LDH, which was proved by separation selectivity ɑ. The compatibility of good self-healing performance and penetration performance was obtained by 2D material MgAl-LDH, which was proved by the penetration and self-healing performance. Morever, the membrane illustrated excellent both permeability and dye/sals separation efficiency, just like the permeate flux, the retention performance of sodium sulfate in methyl blue/sodium sulfate solution, the retention performance of Na 2 SO 4 in methyl blue/Na 2 SO 4 solution, the retention rate of methyl blue were 99.1 L/m2h, 12.5%, 7.9%, 97.7%, respectively. Abstract Data driven methods are playing an increasingly important role in transient stability assessment, primarily because of the availability of large annotated datasets. Nevertheless, training data cannot cover all the possible operating conditions of a modern power system with variable power generations and loads. The classifier should adjust to the near-future operation condition in limited time, and this adjustment may be hindered by the computational time of the simulations and classifier training. To dramatically reduce the computational cost, this paper presents a systematic approach for building and updating an accurate transient stability classifier. First, the time-series trajectories of generators after disturbance are used as the inputs, and then a convolutional neural network (CNN) ensemble method is proposed to generate the transient stability predictor using these multi-dimensional data. To reduce the misclassification of instability, different cost weights are considered for the stable and unstable instances in the loss function. When the operating condition changes substantially and makes the pre-trained classifier unavailable, the active learning and fine-tuning techniques are integrated to update the classifier with good performance using fewer labelled instances and short computational time. Due to triple-negative breast cancer (TNBC) lacking specific targets for efficient therapies, nanoparticles have been widely developed to enhance efficacy and reduce the toxicity of chemotherapeutics. We prepared unique liposomes containing PTX and DOX by microfluidics-based coaxial electrostatic spray method, which have a uniform particle size, high drug loading capacity, and good stability. Meanwhile, the cRGD peptide was fused with the lipid membrane to form PTX/DOX@cRGD-Lipo, which played a GPS role in locating tumor neovascularization and further targeting TNBC cells where both overexpress α v β 3. The PTX/DOX@cRGD-Lipo showed synergistic anti-tumor activity of double drugs and enhanced tumor cell apoptosis. Fluorescence microscopy and flow cytometry showed that the co-loaded targeted liposomes could be effectively absorbed by MDA-MB-231 and 4T1 cells and then released the content. In addition, the PTX/DOX@cRGD-Lipo presented excellent targeting biodistribution in vivo and a higher tumor growth inhibition rate in the orthotopic tumor mouse model. The interaction of clay minerals and dyes is an area of great interest especially in the development of novel adsorbents. In this report, we demonstrated interaction of halloysite nanotubes (HNTs) and an anionic dye, methyl orange (MO), through a electrostatic attraction. Halloysite lumen has a trapping characteristic for methyl orange, which is mainly determined by the positively charged nature of the inner surface of HNTs. XRD results confirmed that intercalation of methyl orange into HNTs did not occur. SEM–EDS and photostability results showed that MO molecules were primarily in HNTs lumen. Adsorption isotherm studies revealed an interesting phenomenon, i.e., a sudden increase of adsorption capacity occurred in the initial dye concentration of about 75 mg/L, which was just the dye concentration corresponding to the onset of dye oligomer formation. This suggested dye aggregation state had a decisive influence to the adsorption behavior of MO on the halloysite. BET results demonstrated at low and high dye concentrations, single MO molecule and aggregation of several dimers through hydrophobic interaction, interacted with Al-OH 2 + sites on the inner wall, respectively. Desorption experiments showed that MO in HNTs can be completely removed with deionized water, indicating halloysite is a low-cost and efficient adsorbent for anionic dye. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Abstract: The present work helped in identifying a new low-cost adsorbent, fallen Cinnamomum camphora leaves (FCCL) for effective removal of Pb(II) from aqueous solutions. The adsorption kinetic experiments reveal Pb(II) adsorption onto FCCL follows pseudo-second order kinetics and is mainly controlled by the film diffusion mechanism, which becomes more prominent with increasing initial lead concentration. All equilibrium data obtained at different temperatures fit perfectly with Langmuir isotherm model compared to Freundlich and D–R isotherm models, and the maximum adsorption capacities of Pb(II) adsorbed onto FCCL are 73.15, 73.58, 74.13 and 75.82mgg−1 at 303.2, 313.2, 323.2 and 333.2K, respectively. The analysis for variations of FT-IR spectra, the values of the mean free energies of adsorption (Ea) and the Gibbs free energy (ΔG 0) all demonstrate that the ion exchange and surface complexation models should both be the dominating adsorption mechanism during the adsorption process. The higher initial lead concentrations and temperatures are both more conducive to the enhancement of surface complexation mechanism compared to ion-exchange mechanism. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Abstract: In the present study, Cinnamomum camphora leaves powder (CLP) was investigated as a biosorbent for the removal of copper ions from aqueous solutions. The biosorbents before and after adsorption were measured by EDS and FT-IR. Kinetic data and sorption equilibrium isotherms were carried out in batch process. The adsorption kinetic experiments revealed that there are three stages in the whole adsorption process. It was found that Cu(II) adsorption onto CLP for different initial Cu(II) concentrations all followed pseudo-second order kinetics and were mainly controlled by the film diffusion mechanism. Batch equilibrium results at different temperatures suggest that Cu(II) adsorption onto CLP can be described perfectly with Langmuir isotherm model compared to Freundlich and D–R isotherm models, and the characteristic parameters for each adsorption isotherm were also determined. Thermodynamic parameters calculated show that the adsorption process has been found to be endothermic in nature. The analysis for the values of the mean free energies of adsorption (E a), the Gibbs free energy (ΔG 0) and the effect of ionic strength all demonstrate that the whole adsorption process is mainly dominated by ion-exchange mechanism, accompanied by a certain amount of surface complexation which has been verified by variations in EDS and FT-IR spectra and pH value before and after adsorption. An emerging strategy is needed to treat autoimmune diseases, many of which are chronic with no definitive cure. Current treatments only alleviate symptoms and have many side effects affecting patient quality of life. Recently, nanoparticle drug delivery systems, an emerging method in medicine, has been used to target cells or organs, without damaging normal tissue. This approach has led to fewer side effects, along with a strong immunosuppressive capacity. Therefore, a nanotechnology approach may help to improve the treatment of autoimmune diseases. In this review, we separated nanoparticles into three categories: synthesized nanoparticles, biomimetic nanoparticles, and extracellular vesicles. This review firstly compares the typical mechanism of action of these three nanoparticle categories respectively in terms of active targeting, camouflage effect, and similarity to parent cells. Cancer continues to pose remarkable medical challenges worldwide. While current cancer therapies can lead to initial clinical improvement, they are often followed by recurrence, metastasis, and drug resistance, underscoring the urgent need for innovative treatment strategies. Atorvastatin calcium (AC), a widely used lipid-lowering and anti-inflammation drug in the clinic, has shown antitumor potential. To further improve the antitumor efficacy, we developed self-assembled AC and polydopamine (PDA) nanoparticles whose surface was coated with macrophage membranes (CM) as a biomimetic drug delivery system [AC@PDA@CM (APM)]. APM showed high drug-loading capacity, excellent stability, excellent bioavailability, and tumor-targeting ability, ultimately achieving photothermal synergistic cancer immunotherapy. Our findings indicate that APM efficiently delivers AC to tumor sites while leveraging photothermal therapy (PTT) to enhance local tumor ablation and antitumor immune effect. Notably, APM mitigates tumor immunosuppression triggered by PTT through AC, suppressing the COX-2/PGE2 pathway and immune evasion signal CD47. Furthermore, APM notably reduced nonspecific distribution and side effects, which is conducive to ensuring the safety level of medication. Osteosarcoma tissues demonstrated elevated expression of proteins (FDX1 and DLAT) integral to cuproptosis in our preliminary study, indicating the potential effectiveness of anti-tumor strategies predicated on this process. Nevertheless, the overexpression of copper export proteins and the challenge of copper ion penetration may contribute to insufficient local copper ion concentration for inducing cuproptosis. Herein, we engineered a biomimetic copper-elesclomol-polyphenol network for the efficient delivery of copper ions and the copper ionophore elesclomol. Simultaneously, we integrated catalase (CAT) to alleviate tumor hypoxia, thereby inducing a greater reliance of tumor cells on aerobic respiration and enhancing cuproptosis sensitivity. In vitro analyses revealed that the nanocomplex exhibited potent cytotoxicity and displayed hallmark characteristics of cuproptosis. In vivo trials further validated targeted tumor accumulation, resulting in the suppression of tumor growth and lung metastasis. An augmentation in the proportion of activated immune cells in both tumor and draining lymph nodes was observed. The improvement of immunosuppressive microenvironment facilitated a synergistic antitumor effect with cuproptosis. The therapeutic efficacy was further evidenced in two osteosarcoma models, highlighting the potential as a safe and effective strategy against osteosarcoma and lung metastasis. STATEMENT OF SIGNIFICANCE: Osteosarcoma tissues exhibit a marked increase in the expression of proteins FDX1 and DLAT, which are crucial for cuproptosis. Moreover, cells that depend on mitochondrial respiration are more susceptible to cuproptosis. Here we developed a biomimetic copper-based nanocomplex to trigger cuproptosis against osteosarcoma and lung metastases. The nanocomplex demonstrated excellent biocompatibility and tumor targeting. Catalase incorporating facilitated oxygen generation within tumor microenvironment and alleviated hypoxia, thereby inducing a greater reliance of tumor cells on aerobic respiration and enhancing cuproptosis sensitivity. Simultaneously, the released Cu-elesclomol complexes induced proteotoxic stress responses and efficiently elicited cuproptosis, leading to increased release of proinflammatory factors and triggering anti-tumor immune activation. Glioblastoma multiforme (GBM) is characterized by pronounced immune escape and resistance to chemotherapy-induced apoptosis. Preliminary investigations revealed a marked overexpression of gasdermin E (GSDME) in GBM. Notably, cisplatin (CDDP) demonstrated a capacity of inducing pyroptosis by activating caspase-3 to cleave GSDME, coupled with the release of proinflammatory factors, indicating the potential as a viable approach of inducing anti-tumor immune activation. For the effective delivery of CDDP, the CDDP-polyphenol nanocomplexes were prepared, and catalase and copper ions were incorporated to fortify structural integrity, enhance glutathione (GSH) responsiveness, and ameliorate tumor hypoxia. Additionally, BV2 microglial cells were engineered to overexpress programmed death-1 (PD-1), and the membrane is employed for nanocomplex coating, effectively blocking the CDDP-induced upregulation of programmed death ligand 1 (PD-L1). Furthermore, the angiopep-2 peptide was modified to efficiently cross the blood brain barrier and specifically target GBM cells. In vitro analyses confirmed potent cytotoxicity and characteristic induction of pyroptosis. In vivo assays corroborated the enhancement of tumor targeting, culminating in an obvious suppression of tumor proliferation. Chemotherapy is still one of the major approaches in triple-negative breast cancer (TNBC) treatment. The development of new formulations for classic chemotherapeutic drugs remains interests in studies. Camptothecin (CPT) is powerful antitumor agents in TNBC treatment though its clinic applications are limited by its low water solubility and systemic toxicity. To prepare a spatiotemporal controllable CPT nano-formulation, we construct a ROS-responsive self-assembly nanoparticle by combining hydrophobic CPT and hydrophilic 5-floxuridine (FUDR). A ROS-sensitive thioketal (TK) linker is used to prepare CPT-TK-FUDR (CTF). Next, we introduced IR780-based phototherapy to elicit massive ROS regeneration due to the endogenous ROS is not sufficient. IR780 is modified with hyaluronic acid (HA) to prepare HA-modified IR780 (HAIR) for its biocompatibility and tumor targeting ability improvement. CTF and HAIR self-assemble to form an attractive nano-bomb (HAIR/CTF NPs). HA accurately guides the NPs to tumor sites via HA-receptor recognition on tumor cells. After internalization, overexpressed intracellular HAase in tumor cells disassembles the NPs to free the contents. Due to the presence of IR780 molecules, the scheduled irradiation of 808 nm laser induces massive reactive oxygen species (ROS) generation, which further result in the cleavage of TK linker for free drugs release. Additionally, ROS-mediated photodynamic therapy (PDT) and near-infrared laser-mediated photothermal therapy (PTT) synergistically worked to eradicate tumor cells. Then immunogenic cell death (ICD) was evoked by CPT and phototherapy to amplify antitumor immunity, thereby achieving primary and abscopal tumor inhibition. Acute myocardial infarction, characterized by high morbidity and mortality, has now become a serious health hazard for human beings. Conventional surgical interventions to restore blood flow can rapidly relieve acute myocardial ischemia, but the ensuing myocardial ischemia-reperfusion injury (MI/RI) and subsequent heart failure have become medical challenges that researchers have been trying to overcome. The pathogenesis of MI/RI involves several mechanisms, including overproduction of reactive oxygen species, abnormal mitochondrial function, calcium overload, and other factors that induce cell death and inflammatory responses. These mechanisms have led to the exploration of antioxidant and inflammation-modulating therapies, as well as the development of myocardial protective factors and stem cell therapies. However, the short half-life, low bioavailability, and lack of targeting of these drugs that modulate these pathological mechanisms, combined with liver and spleen sequestration and continuous washout of blood flow from myocardial sites, severely compromise the expected efficacy of clinical drugs. To address these issues, employing conventional nanocarriers and integrating them with contemporary biomimetic nanocarriers, which rely on passive targeting and active targeting through precise modifications, can effectively prolong the duration of therapeutic agents within the body, enhance their bioavailability, and augment their retention at the injured myocardium. Consequently, these approaches significantly enhance therapeutic effectiveness while minimizing toxic side effects. This article reviews current drug delivery systems used for MI/RI, aiming to offer a fresh perspective on treating this disease.

Acute inflammation has the potential for the recruitment of immune cells, inhibiting tumor angiogenesis, metastasis, and drug resistance thereby overcoming the tumor immunosuppressive microenvironment caused by chronic inflammation. Here, an acute inflammation inducer using bacteria outer membrane vesicles (OMVs) loaded in thermal-sensitive hydrogel (named OMVs-gel) for localized and controlled release of OMVs in tumor sites is proposed. OMVs trigger neutrophil recruitment and amplify acute inflammation inside tumor tissues. The hydrogel ensures drastic inflammation is confined within the tumor, addressing biosafety concerns that the direct administration of free OMVs may cause fatal effects. This strategy eradicated solid tumors safely and rapidly. The study further elucidates one of the possible immune mechanisms of OMVs-gel therapy, which involves the assembly of antitumor neutrophils and elastase release for selective tumor killing. Bone metastasis, a prevalent occurrence in primary malignant tumors, is often associated with a grim prognosis. The bone microenvironment comprises various coexisting cell types, working together in a coordinated manner. While cancer therapies have made advancements, the available options for addressing bone metastases remain insufficient. The advent of nanotechnology has ushered in a new era for managing and preventing bone metastases because of the physicochemical and adaptable advantages of nanoplatforms. Purpose: Mitochondrial damage may lead to uncontrolled oxidative stress and massive apoptosis, and thus plays a pivotal role in the pathological processes of myocardial ischemia-reperfusion (I/R) injury. However, it is difficult for the drugs such as puerarin (PUE) to reach the mitochondrial lesion due to lack of targeting ability, which seriously affects the expected efficacy of drug therapy for myocardial I/R injury., Methods: We prepared triphenylphosphonium (TPP) cations and ischemic myocardium-targeting peptide (IMTP) co-modified puerarin-loaded liposomes (PUE@T/I-L), which effectively deliver the drug to mitochondria and improve the effectiveness of PUE in reducing myocardial I/R injury., Results: In vitro test results showed that PUE@T/I-L had sustained release and excellent hemocompatibility. Fluorescence test results showed that TPP cations and IMTP double-modified liposomes (T/I-L) enhanced the intracellular uptake, escaped lysosomal capture and promoted drug targeting into the mitochondria. Notably, PUE@T/I-L inhibited the opening of the mitochondrial permeability transition pore, reduced intracellular reactive oxygen species (ROS) levels and increased superoxide dismutase (SOD) levels, thereby decreasing the percentage of Hoechst-positive cells and improving the survival of hypoxia-reoxygenated (H/R)-injured H9c2 cells. Acute pancreatitis (AP) is a common abdominal disease that typically resolves on its own, but the mortality rate dramatically increases when it progresses to severe acute pancreatitis (SAP). In this study, we investigated the molecular mechanism underlying the development of SAP from AP. We utilized two SAP models induced by pancreatic duct ligation and caerulein administration. Transcriptomic and proteomic analyses were subsequently performed to determine the mRNA and protein expression profiles of pancreatic samples from SAP and AP model and normal mice. To explore the role of Hspb1 in SAP, we used Hspb1 knockout (KO) mice, a genetically engineered chronic pancreatitis strain (T7D23A), Anxa2 KO mice, and acinar cell-specific Prdx1 knockout mice. Additionally, various in vivo and in vitro assays were performed to elucidate the molecular events and direct targets of Hspb1 in acinar cells. We found that Hspb1 expression was upregulated in AP samples but significantly reduced in acinar cells from SAP samples. KO or inhibition of Hspb1 worsened AP, while AAV8-Hspb1 administration mitigated the severity of SAP and reduced remote organ damage in mice. Furthermore, AAV8-Hspb1 treatment prevented the development of chronic pancreatitis. We found that KO or inhibition of Hspb1 promoted acinar cell death through apoptosis and ferroptosis but not necroptosis or autophagy by increasing reactive oxygen species (ROS) and lipid ROS levels. Mechanistically, Hspb1 directly interacted with Anxa2 to decrease its aggregation and phosphorylation, interact with the crucial antioxidant enzyme Prdx1, and maintain its antioxidative activity by decreasing Thr-90 phosphorylation. Notably, the overexpression of Hspb1 did not have a protective effect on acinar-specific Prdx1 knockout mice. In summary, our findings shed light on the role of Hspb1 in acinar cells. Aim: This study aimed to construct an ischemic cardiomyocyte-targeted and ROS-responsive drug release system to reduce myocardial ischemia-reperfusion injury (MI/RI). Methods: We constructed thioketal (TK) and cardiac homing peptide (CHP) dual-modified liposomes loaded with puerarin (PUE@TK/CHP-L), which were expected to deliver drugs precisely into ischemic cardiomyocytes and release drugs in response to the presence of high intracellular ROS levels. The advantages of PUE@TK/CHP-L were assessed by cellular pharmacodynamics, in vivo fluorescence imaging and animal pharmacodynamics. Results: PUE@TK/CHP-L significantly inhibited apoptosis and ferroptosis in H/R-injured cardiomyocytes and also actively targeted ischemic myocardium. Based on these advantages, PUE@TK/CHP-L could significantly enhance the drug's ability to attenuate MI/RI. Conclusion: PUE@TK/CHP-L had potential clinical value in the precise treatment of MI/RI.

Based on the inhibition of mitochondrial permeability transition pore (mPTP) opening, puerarin (PUE) has a good potential to reduce myocardial ischemia/reperfusion injury (MI/RI). However, the lack of targeting of free PUE makes it difficult to reach the mitochondria. In this paper, we constructed matrix metalloproteinase-targeting peptide (MMP-TP) and triphenylphosphonium (TPP) cation co-modified liposomes loaded with PUE (PUE@T/M-L) for mitochondria-targeted drug delivery. PUE@T/M-L had a favorable particle size of 144.9 ± 0.8 nm, an encapsulation efficiency of 78.9 ± 0.6%, and a sustained-release behavior. The results of cytofluorimetric experiments showed that MMP-TP and TPP double-modified liposomes (T/M-L) enhanced intracellular uptake, escaped lysosomal capture, and promoted drug targeting into mitochondria. In addition, PUE@T/M-L enhanced the viability of hypoxia-reoxygenation (H/R) injured H9c2 cells by inhibiting mPTP opening and reactive oxygen species (ROS) production, reducing Bax expression and increasing Bcl-2 expression. It was inferred that PUE@T/M-L delivered PUE into the mitochondria of H/R injured H9c2 cells, resulting in a significant increase in cellular potency. Based on the ability of MMP-TP to bind the elevated expression of matrix metalloproteinases (MMPs), T/M-L had excellent tropism for Lipopolysaccharide (LPS) -stimulated macrophages and can significantly reduce TNF-α and ROS levels, thus allowing both drug accumulation in ischemic cardiomyocytes and reducing inflammatory stimulation during MI/RI. Fluorescence imaging results of the targeting effect using a DiR probe also indicated that DiR@T/M-L could accumulate and retain in the ischemic myocardium. Taken together, these results demonstrated the promising application of PUE@T/M-L for mitochondria-targeted drug delivery to achieve maximum therapeutic efficacy of PUE.

Immunotherapy has been emerging as a powerful strategy for cancer management. Recently, accumulating evidence has demonstrated that bacteria-based immunotherapy including naive bacteria, bacterial components, and bacterial derivatives, can modulate immune response via various cellular and molecular pathways. The key mechanisms of bacterial antitumor immunity include inducing immune cells to kill tumor cells directly or reverse the immunosuppressive microenvironment. Currently, bacterial antigens synthesized as vaccine candidates by bioengineering technology are novel antitumor immunotherapy. Especially the combination therapy of bacterial vaccine with conventional therapies may further achieve enhanced therapeutic benefits against cancers. However, the clinical translation of bacteria-based immunotherapy is limited for biosafety concerns and non-uniform production standards. Background: Syringomyelia is a chronic, progressive disease of the spinal cord. Syringomyelia is an etiologically diverse affliction caused by disturbance of normal cerebrospinal fluid flow dynamics. Lesions are characterized by the formation of tubular cavities in the gray matter of the spinal cord and gliosis; however, the etiology is unknown and treatment methods differ. Many existing studies have focused on the relationship between other diseases and syringomyelia. There is a lack of comprehensive and objective reports on the research status of syringomyelia. Therefore, this study aimed to conduct a bibliometric analysis to quantify studies on Syringomyelia and trending issues in the last 20 years., Methods: Articles were acquired from the Web of Science Core Collection database. We used the Library Metrology online analysis platform, BICOMB, gCLUTO, CiteSpace bibliometrics tools for analysis, VOSviewer 1.6.16 (Nees Jan van Eck and Ludo Waltman, 2010), and Microsoft Excel 2019 to perform bibliometric analysis and visualization. Individual impact and collaborative information were quantified by analyzing annual publications, journals, co-cited journals, countries/regions, institutions, authors, and co-cited authors. We then identified the trending research areas of syringomyelia by analyzing the co-occurrence of keywords and co-cited references., Results: From January 2003 to August 2022, 9,556 authors from 66 countries published a total of 1,902 research articles on syringomyelia in 518 academic journals. Most publications come from the United States, China, the United Kingdom, and Japan, with the United States dominating. Nanjing University and the University of Washington are the most active institutions, Dr. Claire Rusbridge has published the most papers, and Miholat has the most co-citations. The Journal of Neurosurgery has the highest number of co-cited articles, which are mainly in the fields of neurology, surgery, and biology. High-frequency keywords included syringomyelia, Chiari-I malformation, children, surgical treatment, and spinal cord., Conclusions: The number of articles on syringomyelia has increased steadily over the past two decades. At present, research on syringomyelia is mainly focused on the age of onset, potential therapeutic interventions, surgical treatment, avoidance of recurrence, and delay of pain. Context: The σ-hole, counterintuitive σ-hole, and lone pair-π interaction complexes formed between three heterocyclic compounds (C4H4O, C5H5N, and C4H4N2) and AtX (X = F, Cl, and Br) have been investigated with the MP2/aug-cc-pVTZ. The intensity of three noncovalent interactions formed by different heterocyclic compounds was compared, and the properties of these three noncovalent interactions were discussed. SAPT analysis shows that the electrostatic energy is dominant to the stronger interactions in the σ-hole and counterintuitive σ-hole complexes, while the dispersion energy is the main force responsible for the weaker interactions in the lone pair-π complexes. Background: β-Secretase (BACE1) is the vital enzyme in the pathogenic processes of Alzheimer's disease (AD). However, the development of a powerful tool with sensitivity for BACE1 determination in vivo is a challenge., Methods: A novel NIR fluorescent probe HBAE was synthetized from 2-hydroxy-3-methylbenzaldehyde and 2-amino-benzenethiol by 5 steps. The fluorescence mechanism in the ESIPT systems of HBAE probe was insighted with time-dependent density functional theory (TD-DFT) at the TDPBE0 level with the def2-TZVP approach. The corresponding docking between HBAE and BACE1 (PDB: 5I3Y) was performed through the ducking method by DOCK6.8. Then the BBB permeability of HBAE is verified by transwell orifice plate. 22-month-old male AD-model (5XFAD) mice and age-matched wild-type mice were employed to observe the brain kinetics by intravenous injection. Finally, Immunohistochemistry was performed on the AD brain section to reveal the levels of BACE1 in hippocampus and cortex areas and other regions in AD mice through the brain tissue slices by HBAE., Results: The NIR fluorescent probe HBAE was successfully applied in imaging BACE1 in AD model mice. The capability of HBAE in reflecting different level of BACE1 was performed by the specific imaging of the hippocampus region., Conclusions: We reported the first ESIPT near-infrared fluorescence probe HBAE for monitoring endogenous BACE1 in the AD live model mice, thus offering a versatile chemical tool for visualizing in the pathological processes of AD live brains. Background: In the surgical approach to treat deep-seated intracranial lesions, endoscopes can be used to assist microsurgical operations and improve outcomes. This technique is often called endoscope-assisted microneurosurgery (EAM). This systematic review and meta-analysis aimed to evaluate the feasibility, safety, and effectiveness of EAM., Methods: We performed a meta-analysis of relevant articles identified using PubMed, Embase, and the Cochrane Central Register to assess the efficacy of EAM according to the Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses (PRISMA) criteria. Primary outcomes were repositioning of the definitive clip, better surgical field, the overall and endoscope-related complication rates, mortality, and the rate of follow up., Results: A total of 10 studies of 1,432 patients with 1,717 aneurysms treated with EAM were included. EAM led to repositioning of the definitive clip in 13% (95% CI, 9%-17%; I 2  = 72.61%; p < 0.001); 77% of aneurysms treated with endoscopically assisted vision and information had a better outcome than that with standard surgery (95% CI, 52%-95%; I 2  = 97.63%; p < 0.001). There was an overall complication rate of 6% (95% CI, 1%-13%; I 2  = 91.39%; p < 0.001). The incidence of endoscope-related complications was 0% (95% CI, 0%-1%; I 2  = 64%; p < 0.001). Objective: This study investigated the use and effectiveness of endoscopic transnasal, transsphenoidal surgery, a minimally invasive method for the treatment of macroadenomas and giant pituitary a denomas, in a medical setting. The surgical results of 429 patients who received neuroendoscopic treatment of macroadenomas or giant pituitary adenomas were evaluated, and the experiences and lessons learned from treatment complications were assessed., Patients and Methods: From January 2012 to December 2021, 429 patients with macroadenomas or giant pituitary adenomas, including 60 patients with giant adenomas (diameter ≥4 cm) and 369 patients with macroadenomas (diameter 1-4 cm), received a 3D head CT, a MRI with contrast enhancement, and an endocrinology examination prior to surgery. Preoperative clinical and radiological features, visual measurements, hormone levels, length of stay, length of surgery, postoperative stay, visual and hormone outcomes, resection range, complication and recurrence rates, and routine patient information were recorded. The patients were followed up for 6-72 months (median = 40 months)., Results: Of 429 patients with macroadenomas or giant pituitary adenomas who received neuroendoscopic treatment, 348 (81.12%) had gross-total resections (GTR), 53 (12.35%) had near-total resections (NTR), and 28 (6.53%) had subtotal resections. There were 138 cases of post-operative diabetes insipidus (32.17%), including 7 cases of permanent diabetes insipidus (1.63%), 16 cases of nasal hemorrhage (3.73%), 39 cases of intraoperative cerebrospinal fluid leakage (9.09%), 4 cases of intracranial infection (0.9%), 16 cases of hypophysis (3.7%), and 15 cases of anosmia (3.50%). The clinical symptoms and endocrinology indices of the patients improved after surgery, and all patients were discharged 5-18 days (8.36 ± 2.65) postop., Conclusion: Neuroendoscopy is a safe operation with a short recovery period and hospital stay and is thus an effective method to treat macroadenomas and giant pituitary adenomas. In-situ coal bio-gasification can be defined as one of the coal bio-mining methodology that fully utilizes the methanogenic bacteria in coal to review the current findings, namely anaerobic digestion of organic components. The following experiment has been done in regards, one vertical well and one multi-branch horizontal well were used as experiment wells and two vertical wells were used as control wells, the pilot test was carried out with single well nutrition injection method. By applying the above mentioned method, the concentration of Cl - ion and number altered in Methanogen spp. were used to trace nutrition diffusion. Furthermore, technical implementation results analysis has been made with the observation of CH 4 production changes and coal bed biome evolution. Gas production rates in each well were monitored by using the FLLQ gas roots flow mete. The concentration of CH 4 and CO 2 were evaluated by using the Agilent 7890A gas chromatograph, on the other hand, concentrations of Cl - were determined by the application of ICS-1100 ion chromatography system. The F 420 fluorescence method was adopted to test for the presence of methanogenic bacteria. In the interim of the completion stage, the study stated that the bacterial diversity of underground water of Z-7H well has a high pass sequence with the experimental period of 814 days. Gas production data in Z-159 and Z-7H wells showed the gasification of coal lasted 635 and 799 days, yielded 74817 m 3 and 251754 m 3 coalbed methane, respectively. Furthermore, experimental data presented that one time nutrition injection in anthracite coalbed methane wells achieved an average of 717 days of continuous gas production among all experimental wells. Background: Gliomas are the most common and fatal malignant type of tumor of the central nervous system. RNA post-transcriptional modifications, as a frontier and hotspot in the field of epigenetics, have attracted increased attention in recent years. Among such modifications, methylation is most abundant, and encompasses N6-methyladenosine (m6A), 5-methylcytosine (m5C), N1 methyladenosine (m1A), and 7-methylguanosine (m7G) methylation. Methods: RNA-sequencing data from healthy tissue and low-grade glioma samples were downloaded from of The Cancer Genome Atlas database along with clinical information and mutation data from glioblastoma tumor samples. Forty-nine m6A/m5C/m1A/m7G-related genes were identified and an m6A/m5C/m1A/m7G-lncRNA signature of co-expressed long non-coding RNAs selected. Least absolute shrinkage and selection operator Cox regression analysis was used to identify 12 m6A/m5C/m1A/m7G-related lncRNAs associated with the prognostic characteristics of glioma and their correlation with immune function and drug sensitivity analyzed. Furthermore, the Chinese Glioma Genome Atlas dataset was used for model validation. Results: A total of 12 m6A/m5C/m1A/m7G-related genes (AL080276.2, AC092111.1, SOX21-AS1, DNAJC9-AS1, AC025171.1, AL356019.2, AC017104.1, AC099850.3, UNC5B-AS1, AC006064.2, AC010319.4, and AC016822.1) were used to construct a survival and prognosis model, which had good independent prediction ability for patients with glioma. Patients were divided into low and high m6A/m5C/m1A/m7G-LS groups, the latter of which had poor prognosis. In addition, the m6A/m5C/m1A/m7G-LS enabled improved interpretation of the results of enrichment analysis, as well as informing immunotherapy response and drug sensitivity of patients with glioma in different subgroups. The antiparasitic drug nitazoxanide (NTZ) has received considerable attention for its potential in cancer therapy. In this study, we demonstrate that tizoxanide (TIZ), an active metabolite of NTZ, exhibits antiglioma activity in vitro and in vivo by inducing G2/M cell cycle arrest and apoptosis. In vitro , TIZ dose-dependently inhibited the proliferation of U87, U118, and A172 human glioblastoma (GBM) cells at 48 h with IC 50 values of 1.10, 2.31, and 0.73 µM, respectively. Treatment with TIZ (1 and 10 µM) also dose-dependently inhibited the colony formation of these GBM cells and accumulated ROS damage in the nucleus. In silico target fishing combined with network pharmacological disease spectrum analyses of GBM revealed that cycle-dependent kinase 1 (CDK1) is the most compatible target for TIZ and molecular docking by Molecule Operating Environment (MOE) software confirmed it. Mechanistically, TIZ inhibited the phosphorylation of CDK1 at Thr161 and decreased the activity of the CDK1/cyclin B1 complex, arresting the cell cycle at the G2/M phase. TIZ may induce apoptosis via the ROS-mediated apoptotic pathway. In vivo , TIZ suppressed the growth of established subcutaneous and intracranial orthotopic xenograft models of GBM without causing obvious side effects and prolonged the survival of nude mice bearing glioma. Considerable evidence links the microglial transmembrane receptor TREM2 to the progression of Alzheimer's disease through its involvement in Aβ phagocytosis by microglia. While previous studies have mainly focused on the phagocytic regulation of microglia itself, the antigen presentation of microglial exosomes in the process of immunity has been less investigated. Here, we identified TREM2 expressed on the membrane of microglial exosomes and found that it controlled exosome secretion without affecting exosome size. Microglial exosomes bind to Aβ in a TREM2-dependent manner, which changes the inflammatory environment around Aβ and promotes microglia to phagocytose Aβ. Cancer has posed a major threat to human life and health with a rapidly increasing number of patients. The complexity and refractory of tumors have brought great challenges to tumor treatment. In recent years, nanomaterials and nanotechnology have attracted more attention and greatly improved the efficiency of tumor therapies and significantly prolonged the survival period, whether for traditional tumor treatment methods such as radiotherapy, or emerging methods, such as phototherapy and immunotherapy, sonodynamic therapy, chemodynamic therapy and RNA interference therapeutics. Various monotherapies have obtained positive results, while combination therapies are further proposed to prevent incomplete eradication and recurrence of tumors, strengthen tumor killing efficacy with minimal side effects. In view of the complementary promotion effects between different therapies, it is vital to utilize nanomaterials as the link between monotherapies to achieve synergistic performance. Further development of nanomaterials with efficient tumor-killing effect and better biosafety is more in line with the needs of clinical treatment. Three types noncovalent interactions (type I, II and III) between pyrazine (C 4 H 4 N 2 ) and XF (X = F, Cl, Br, and I) have been discovered at the MP2/aug-cc-pVTZ level. TypeI is σ-hole interaction between the positive site on the halogen X of XF and the negative site on one of the pyrazine nitrogens. Type II is counterintuitive σ-hole interaction driven by polarization between the positive site on the halogen X of XF and a portion of the pyrazine ring. Type III is an interaction between the lateral regions of the halogen X of XF and the position of the pyrazine ring. Through comparing the calculated interaction energy, we can know that the type II and type III interactions are weaker than the corresponding type I interactions, and type III interactions are weaker than the corresponding type II interactions in C 4 H 4 N 2 -XF complexes. SAPT analysis shows that the electrostatic energy are the major source of the attraction for the type I (σ-hole) interactions while the type III interactions are mainly dispersion energy. For the type II (counterintuitive σ-hole) interactions in C 4 H 4 N 2 -XF (X = F and Cl) complexes, electrostatic energy are the major source of the attraction, while in C 4 H 4 N 2 -XF (X = Br and I) complexes, the electrostatic term, induction and dispersion play equally important role in the total attractive interaction. Lung cancer remains the most common cancer worldwide. Although significant advances in screening have been made and early diagnosis strategies and therapeutic regimens have been developed, the overall survival rate remains bleak. Curcumin is extracted from the rhizomes of turmeric and exhibits a wide range of biological activities. In lung cancer, evidence has shown that curcumin can markedly inhibit tumor growth, invasion and metastasis, overcome resistance to therapy, and even eliminate cancer stem cells (CSCs). Herein, the underlying molecular mechanisms of curcumin were summarized by distinct biological processes. To solve the limiting factors that curtail the clinical applications of curcumin, nanoformulations encapsulating curcumin were surveyed in detail. Nanoparticles, including liposomes, micelles, carbon nanotubes (CNTs), solid lipid nanoparticles (SLNs), nanosuspensions, and nanoemulsions, were explored as proper carriers of curcumin. Moreover, it was firmly verified that curcumin has the ability to sensitize lung cancer cells to chemotherapeutic drugs, such as cisplatin and docetaxel, and to various targeted therapies. The halogen bonding and π-π stacking interactions between pyrazine (C 4 H 4 N 2 ) and fluoro substituted iodobenzene C 6 H 5-n F n I (n = 0, 1, 2, 3, 4, and 5) have been discussed at the M062x-D3/aug-cc-pVTZ level. The calculated interaction energy shows that the halogen bonding interactions are weaker than the corresponding π-π stacking interactions in C 6 H 5-n F n I (n = 0, 1, and 2)-C 4 H 4 N 2 complexes, while the halogen bonding interactions are stronger than the corresponding π-π stacking interactions in C 6 H 5-n F n I (n = 3, 4, and 5)-C 4 H 4 N 2 complexes. According to SAPT analysis, it is reveals that the electrostatic energy are the primary source of the attraction for the halogen bonding interactions while the π-π stacking interactions are dominantly dispersion energy. When the halogen bond and π-π stacking interaction coexist, we find out that the formation of π-π stacking will lead to stronger halogen bond interaction and the converse is also true. Mesenchymal stem cells (MSCs) were known to have excellent properties in cell therapy. However, the risk of immune rejection associated with cell transplant therapy hampers its use. Extracellular vesicles secreted by MSCs derived from different sources that contain therapeutic molecules such as RNA and proteins, which is a novel strategy for cell-free therapy. Recently, researches show EVs from MSCs (MSC-EVs) of different sources have special functions and effects on different diseases. Here, we collected these researches and compared them to each other. Immunoglobulin A nephropathy (IgAN) is a complex trait regulated by the interaction among multiple physiologic regulatory systems and probably involving numerous genes, which leads to inconsistent findings in genetic studies. One possibility of failure to replicate some single-locus results is that the underlying genetics of IgAN nephropathy is based on multiple genes with minor effects. To learn the association between 23 single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) in 14 genes predisposing to chronic glomerular diseases and IgAN in Han males, the 23 SNPs genotypes of 21 Han males were detected and analyzed with a BaiO gene chip, and their associations were analyzed with univariate analysis and multiple linear regression analysis. Analysis showed that CTLA4 rs231726 and CR2 rs1048971 revealed a significant association with IgAN. These findings support the multi-gene nature of the etiology of IgAN and propose a potential gene-gene interactive model for future studies.
