A 15-level flying capacitor multi-cell based inverter with new control method is proposed. The main benefit of this topology is minimising the number of components (switches, insulated-gate bipolar transistor (IGBTs), diodes, flying capacitors and DC sources with minimum variety number) that are used for producing the same number of output voltage levels. The proposed novel control strategy is capable of regulating voltage of flying capacitors on desired values, which results in increased number of output voltage levels. Another feature of the proposed control strategy is robustness against the load changes. Moreover, a new algorithm is presented for determining the voltage rating of flying capacitors. Simulations carried out in PSCAD/EMTDC software package and the experimental data were validated against numerical results.

Main objective of this study is to analyse banking efficiency and productivity considering evidences from Western Balkan countries in pre-crisis, during and the recovery period. Referring to the historic background and the transformations suffered, the WB countries have developed bank based financial structure so the soundness of the banking sector is significantly important for the stability and progress of their economies on the long run. The problems faced by the last recession, the deteriorated macroeconomic indicators and weak, inefficient banking sector translated in slow recovery rates, encouraged this study. Prior studies have been mainly focused in causes and effects of crisis in different sectors of economies while this paper presents relations and dependencies between the macroeconomic and bank specific efficiency determinants. The methodology used is the comparison between countries and as method the financial ratio analysis, intending the presentation of trends and evaluation of changes in efficiency, profitability and performance indicators during 2000- 2007 comparing with 2008-2013. Results that the banking sector profitability indicators follow the same negative trend with the economic growth rates and the recovery rates are lower than the forecasted. The results can be used by performance monitors to better identify vulnerabilities and examine uncertainties/risks.

Housing, beside two factors of food and clothing are fundamental needs of human communities, which most planners emphasize the optimal access to its different dimensions. This issue is more representative in Iran because in Iranian constitution, it has been emphasized. Development in dimensions and indexes of housing can represent the development level of societies as well. The present study is a descriptive-analytical one conducted with the objective of investigating the level of development in the townships of Kermanshah Province in housing indexes. The data collection method is document analysis and field study. To obtain the main objective of the study, 21 indexes related to housing were used. Further, for weighting indexes of the research, the questionnaires distributed among 30 individuals of authorities and experts of Housing Foundation and Road Constructionand Urban Development Office as well as university professors experienced in housing field were used. To determine the development of the township of the Kermanshah Province, TOPSIS and AHP techniques, Cluster Analysis and GIS were used. The findings of the research indicated that among 14 townships of the province, three townships of Kangavar, Sahneh and Harsin respectively with priority coefficients 0.636, 0.554, and 0.521 enjoyed the highest level of development and three townships of Salas-e Babajani, Paveh and Dalahou respectively with priority coefficients of 0.116, 0.242 and 0.242 have the lowest level of development. In addition, about 29 percent of the townships of the province (22.77 percent of the area of the province) are at very high and high levels of development, 14 percent (31.1 percent of the area

Abstract Background Genetic isolates with a history of a small founder population, long-lasting isolation and population bottlenecks represent exceptional resources in the identification of disease genes. In these populations the disease allele reveals Linkage Disequilibrium (LD) with markers over significant genetic intervals, therefore facilitating disease locus identification. In a previous study we examined the LD extension on the Xq13 region in three Corsican sub-populations from the inner mountainous region of the island. On the basis of those previous results we have proposed a multistep procedure to carry out studies aimed at the identification of genes involved in complex diseases in Corsica. A prerequisite to carry out the proposed multi-step procedure was the presence of different degrees of LD on the island and a common genetic derivation of the different Corsican sub-populations. In order to evaluate the existence of these conditions in the present paper we extended the analysis to the Corsican coastal populations. Methods Samples were analyzed using seven dinucleotide microsatellite markers on chromosome Xq13-21: DXS983, DXS986, DXS8092, DXS8082, DXS1225, DXS8037 and DXS995 spanning approximately 4.0 cM (13.3 Mb). We have also investigated the distribution of the DXS1225-DXS8082 haplotype which has been recently proposed as a good marker of population genetic history due to its low recombination rate. Results the results obtained indicate a decrease of LD on the island from the central mountainous toward the coastal sub-populations. In addition the analysis of the DXS1225-DXS8082 haplotype revealed: 1) the presence of a particular haplotype with high frequency; 2) the derivation from a common genetic pool of the sub-populations examined in the present study. Conclusion These results indicate the Corsican sub-populations useful for the fine mapping of genes contributing to complex diseases.

A long-standing question for avant-garde data storage technology concerns the nature of the ultrafast photoinduced phase transformations in the wide class of chalcogenide phase-change materials (PCMs). Overall, a comprehensive understanding of the microstructural evolution and the relevant kinetics mechanisms accompanying the out-of-equilibrium phases is still missing. Here, after overheating a phase-change chalcogenide superlattice by an ultrafast laser pulse, we indirectly track the lattice relaxation by time resolved x-ray absorption spectroscopy (tr-XAS) with a sub-ns time resolution. The approach to the tr-XAS experimental results reported in this work provides an atomistic insight of the mechanism that takes place during the cooling process; meanwhile a first-principles model mimicking the microscopic distortions accounts for a straightforward representation of the observed dynamics. Finally, we envisage that our approach can be applied in future studies addressing the role of dynamical structural strain in PCMs.

Background To date, delirium prevalence in adult acute hospital populations has been estimated generally from pooled findings of single-center studies and/or among specific patient populations. Furthermore, the number of participants in these studies has not exceeded a few hundred. To overcome these limitations, we have determined, in a multicenter study, the prevalence of delirium over a single day among a large population of patients admitted to acute and rehabilitation hospital wards in Italy. Methods This is a point prevalence study (called “Delirium Day”) including 1867 older patients (aged 65 years or more) across 108 acute and 12 rehabilitation wards in Italian hospitals. Delirium was assessed on the same day in all patients using the 4AT, a validated and briefly administered tool which does not require training. We also collected data regarding motoric subtypes of delirium, functional and nutritional status, dementia, comorbidity, medications, feeding tubes, peripheral venous and urinary catheters, and physical restraints. Results The mean sample age was 82.0 ± 7.5 years (58 % female). Overall, 429 patients (22.9 %) had delirium. Hypoactive was the commonest subtype (132/344 patients, 38.5 %), followed by mixed, hyperactive, and nonmotoric delirium. The prevalence was highest in Neurology (28.5 %) and Geriatrics (24.7 %), lowest in Rehabilitation (14.0 %), and intermediate in Orthopedic (20.6 %) and Internal Medicine wards (21.4 %). In a multivariable logistic regression, age (odds ratio [OR] 1.03, 95 % confidence interval [CI] 1.01–1.05), Activities of Daily Living dependence (OR 1.19, 95 % CI 1.12–1.27), dementia (OR 3.25, 95 % CI 2.41–4.38), malnutrition (OR 2.01, 95 % CI 1.29–3.14), and use of antipsychotics (OR 2.03, 95 % CI 1.45–2.82), feeding tubes (OR 2.51, 95 % CI 1.11–5.66), peripheral venous catheters (OR 1.41, 95 % CI 1.06–1.87), urinary catheters (OR 1.73, 95 % CI 1.30–2.29), and physical restraints (OR 1.84, 95 % CI 1.40–2.40) were associated with delirium. Admission to Neurology wards was also associated with delirium (OR 2.00, 95 % CI 1.29–3.14), while admission to other settings was not. Conclusions Delirium occurred in more than one out of five patients in acute and rehabilitation hospital wards. Prevalence was highest in Neurology and lowest in Rehabilitation divisions. The “Delirium Day” project might become a useful method to assess delirium across hospital settings and a benchmarking platform for future surveys. - Abstract
In 2015, Cambiemos defeated the Kirchnerism, reaching the national government and establishing a turning point. This article seeks to understand what were the tensions, both at the level of the neo-developmentalist regime and the hegemonic construction on which it was based, that made that result possible. To do this, we propose to investigate the change of relations of force, from a multi-dimensional and multi-scalar approach, identifying the factors of crisis in the facets of accumulation and hegemony, in order to visualize different limits and contradictions that contributed to the erosion of the project that led Argentina between 2003 and 2015. Based on an analysis of the three key cores of the accumulation process: policies, economic variables and class fractions, we will account for the formation of different imbalances such as the persistent inflation, the energy crisis, investment reticence, capital outflow, among others, that were eroding public and external accounts, in a context of high foreignization and concentration that favored the veto capacity of big capital on the initiatives of Kirchnerism. Likewise, we will approach different aspects of the hegemonic strategy of this force, its potency, limits and weathering, in order to create an integrative reading on the period of study, En 2015, Cambiemos derrotó al kirchnerismo, accediendo al gobierno nacional y estableciendo un punto de inflexión.

In this paper, an improved Non-Isolated bidirectional Multiple-Input (MI) Buck dc-dc converter has been proposed. In the proposed topology, the input sources can simultaneously/independently transfer energy to the load. The applied energy storage system -battery- not only realizes the bidirectional power flow (even when none storable input sources like Fuel Cells are utilized), but also can absorb the excess energy produced by input sources. Simple structure and reduced number of components (switches, inductors, capacitors and current sensors) are the main advantages of the proposed topology. Different operational modes and design consideration of proposed converter have been investigated. To confirm the validity of proposed converter, the two-input version has been modeled and simulated in PSCAD/EMTDC software and implemented experimentally. Obtained results validate the suitable performance of proposed topology.

This paper proposes an improved structure for none-isolated Multi-Input (MI) high step-up dc-dc converters. The bidirectional power flow operation can also be provided for the proposed topology. Unlike most of none-isolated none-coupled inductor based topologies, the proposed topology can produce high voltage gains with low voltage stress on the switches/diodes. Due to the simple structure of proposed topology, the control strategy and consequently the production of switching signals is very straightforward. Different operational modes of proposed topology have been introduced and illustrated. Then, steady-state analysis have been investigated. Finally, to confirm the proposed concepts, the topology has been modeled and simulated in PSCAD/EMTDC software. Simulation results validate the proper performance of proposed topology.

Introduction: In recent years spatial justice has gained special importance among planners and geographers. Since the urban public services form the structure, shape and the nature of the physical, social and urban space, Inequities in their distribution cause irreversible negative effects on the structure and the nature of city and social segregation of the people, and serious challenges in the city and urban management. Methods: Accordingly, the purpose of this research was to evaluate the spatial distribution of Therapeutic centers and to identify the underserved areas regarding these Services in the Najaf Abad city using the localization standards and criteria of these services. To this end, we used the geographical information system (GIS), model Overlap index (IO) and the Analytical Hierarchy Process (AHP). By providing a comprehensive database of spatial distribution of medical centers’ in Najaf Abad we analyzed theses centers accessibility from all areas of the city and by taking the poor access of some areas to these services and considering other urban factors that influence localization we Provided a working model, in an attempt to look for the optimal spatial distribution pattern of Therapeutic centers in Najaf Abad using geographic information system (GIS). Results: This was a descriptive analytical study and the results showed that given the performance Radius of 1000, 1500 and 2000, meter for the existing hospitals, some parts of the city were not within the Standard service area of the three available ones. Therefore, given the current situation, the establishment of new hospitals in the areas mentioned above, seems to be necessary. Also, given the service radius of 500 to 1000 meters for Sanitary- Therapeutic centers, Southern areas of the city were outside the performance Radius of such centers. Therefore, given the current status, establishment of new Sanitary - Therapeutic centers seems to be necessary. The aims of this study were to evaluate: (1) the effect of cryopreservation on DNA fragmentation of canine epididymal spermatozoa, and (2) the potential protective effect of melatonin on post-thaw sperm quality (motility, morphology, acrosomal and DNA integrity). Epididymal spermatozoa were collected after orchiectomy of ten dogs. Sperm samples were frozen in the presence or absence of melatonin (1mM). DNA fragmentation index (percentage of spermatozoa with fragmented DNA) was similar in fresh samples (3.3±3.6) and samples frozen with (4.2±3.8) or without (3.6±3.7) melatonin. Sperm motility was significantly (p

Ubiquitin is a 8.5-kDa peptide that tags other proteins for proteasomal degradation. It has been proposed that ubiquitination might be responsible for the elimination of defective spermatozoa during transit through the epididymis in humans and cattle, but its exact biological function in seminal plasma has not yet been clarified. In the domestic cat (Felis catus), the percentage of immature, unviable, and abnormal spermatozoa decreases during the epididymal transit, indicating the existence of a mechanism that removes defective spermatozoa. Magnetic cell separation techniques, based on the use of magnetic beads coated with anti-ubiquitin antibodies, may allow the selective capture of ubiquitinated spermatozoa from semen, thus contributing to the identification of a potential correlation between semen quality and ubiquitination process. Moreover, the selective identification of all the ubiquitinated proteins in different epididymal regions could give a better understanding of the ubiquitin role in feline sperm maturation. The aims of this study were as follows: (1) to verify the possibility of separating ubiquitinated spermatozoa with magnetic ubiquitin beads and identify the morphological and acrosomal differences between whole sample and unbound gametes, (2) to characterize all the ubiquitinated proteins in spermatozoa retrieved in the three epididymal regions by a proteomic approach. The data indicated the presence of ubiquitinated proteins in cat epididymal semen. However, a correlation between abnormal and ubiquitinated spermatozoa has not been found, and ubiquitin cannot be considered as a biomarker of quality of epididymal feline spermatozoa. To the author's knowledge, this is the first identification of all the ubiquitinated proteins of cat spermatozoa collected from different epididymal regions. The proteomic pattern allows a further characterization of cat epididymal semen and represents a contribute to a better understanding of the ubiquitin role in feline sperm maturation.

Is there a role for the screening method in estimating influenza vaccine effectiveness (VE)? The answer is yes, but the simplicity of the method used has raised concerns about its validity, and several cautions should be noted. The screening method provides an approximation of influenza VE by comparing the proportion of cases vaccinated (PCV) with the proportion of persons vaccinated (PPV) in the general population. This method has an important disadvantage: VE estimation could be inaccurate if the values for PCV and PPV are drawn from different populations, but it has an important strength, compared with other observational studies, in providing an early indication of VE in the field. Thus, when an infrastructure, such as routine surveillance, is in place to collect robust PCV values, and PPV can be obtained from routine vaccine uptake monitoring systems, the screening method can provide early estimates of influenza VE in target groups.

Industrialized and rich nations owe much of their development to advances and achievements they have made in science and technology. These assets have not only served as engines powering their advanced economies but have also led to their exponential social growth. Thus, advancements in science and technology may be regarded as indicators of fundamental development in any modern society as it is the knowledge-based society that is in a superior position to address and resolve its basic problems. While Iran has also been taking drastic steps towards its scientific and technological development, decisive measures are yet to be taken toward developing a strategic plan for these development objectives and gaining a comprehensive understanding of its different aspects. Employing an analytic-descriptive approach, the present study aims to develop fundamental strategies for the national scientific and technological development using the SWOT strategic model. The results indicate that the development of infrastructure for access to information networks with a weight of 0.56 ranks first among the strengths while absence of a strategic development plan with a weight of 0.372 ranks first among the weaknesses. IT infrastructure with a weight of 0.608 is found to have the highest weight among the opportunities while the low relevance between educational programs (at both levels of general and higher education) and scientific and innovation requirements is found to rank first with a weight of 0.46 among the threats. Among the most essential strategies that need to be adopted, one can refer to the development of a basic framework for the uniform and need-oriented connectivity and access to IT and the Internet across the nation; creation and development of such knowledge-based systems and facilities as business and technology incubators, science parks, science a& technology corridors, and innovation clusters aiming at a knowledge-based, dynamic, and developed society; directing efforts at striking a balance between the number of university graduates and the market demands for young educated work force; and maximum involvement of the educated youths in the realization of national development objectives.
