401. Association study of an SNP combination pattern in the dopaminergic pathway in paranoid schizophrenia: a novel strategy for complex disorders

Abstract: Schizophrenia is a common mental disorder with a complex pattern of inheritance. Despite a large number of studies in the past decades, its molecular etiology remains unknown. In this study, we proposed a 'system-thinking' strategy in seeking the combined effect of susceptibility genes for a complex disorder by using paranoid schizophrenia as an example. We genotyped 85 reported single-nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) present in 23 genes for the dopamine (DA) metabolism pathway among 83 paranoid schizophrenics and 108 normal controls with detailed clinical and genetic information. We developed two novel multilocus approaches-the potential effective SNP combination pattern and potential effective dynamic effects analysis, by which three susceptibility genotype combinations were found to be associated with schizophrenia. These results were also validated in a family-based cohort consisting of 95 family trios of paranoid schizophrenia. The present findings suggest that the COMT and ALDH3 combination may be the most common type involved in predisposing to schizophrenia. Since the combination blocks the whole pathways for the breakdown of DA and noradrenaline, it is very likely to play a central role in developing paranoid schizophrenia.

Abstract: The branching ratio of J/psi-->K_S K_L is measured with improved precision to be B(J/psi-->K_S K_L) = (1.82\pm 0.04\pm 0.13)\times 10^{-4}. using J/psi data collected with the Beijing Spectrometer (BESII) at the Beijing Electron-Positron Collider. This result is used to test the perturbative QCD ``12%'' rule between psi(2S) and J/psi decays and to investigate the relative phase between the three-gluon and one-photon annihilation amplitudes in J/psi decays.

Abstract: The decay psi(2S)--K(0)(S)K(0)(L) is observed using psi(2S) data collected with the Beijing Spectrometer at the Beijing Electron-Positron Collider; the branching fraction is determined to be B(psi(2S)--K(0)(S)K(0)(L))=(5.24+/-0.47+/-0.48)x10(-5). Compared with J/psi--K(0)(S)K(0)(L), the psi(2S) branching fraction is enhanced relative to the prediction of the perturbative QCD "12%" rule. The result, together with the branching fractions of psi(2S) decays to other pseudoscalar meson pairs (pi(+)pi(-) and K+K-), is used to investigate the relative phase between the three-gluon and the one-photon annihilation amplitudes of psi(2S) decays.

Abstract: Results are presented on $J/\ensuremath{\psi}$ radiative decays to ${K}^{+}{K}^{\ensuremath{-}}$ and ${K}_{S}^{0}{K}_{S}^{0}$ based on a sample of 58M $J/\ensuremath{\psi}$ events taken with the BES II detector. A partial wave analysis is carried out using the relativistic covariant tensor amplitude method in the 1--2 GeV mass range. There is conspicuous production due to the ${f}_{2}^{\ensuremath{'}}(1525)$ and ${f}_{0}(1710).$ The latter peaks at a mass of $1740\ifmmode\pm\else\textpm\fi{}{4}_{\ensuremath{-}25}^{+10}\mathrm{MeV}$ with a width of ${166}_{\ensuremath{-}8\ensuremath{-}10}^{+5+15}\mathrm{MeV}.$ Spin 0 is strongly preferred over spin 2. For the ${f}_{2}^{\ensuremath{'}}(1525),$ the helicity amplitude ratios are determined to be ${x}^{2}=1.00\ifmmode\pm\else\textpm\fi{}{0.28}_{\ensuremath{-}0.36}^{+1.06}$ and ${y}^{2}=0.44\ifmmode\pm\else\textpm\fi{}{0.08}_{\ensuremath{-}0.56}^{+0.10}.$

Abstract: We observe a narrow enhancement near 2m(p) in the invariant mass spectrum of pp pairs from radiative J/psi-->gammapp decays. No similar structure is seen in J/psi-->pi(0)pp decays. The results are based on an analysis of a 58 x 10(6) event sample of J/psi decays accumulated with the BESII detector at the Beijing electron-positron collider. The enhancement can be fit with either an S- or P-wave Breit-Wigner resonance function. In the case of the S-wave fit, the peak mass is below 2m(p) at M=1859(+3)(-10) (stat)+5-25(syst) MeV/c(2) and the total width is Gamma

Abstract: We observe a narrow enhancement near 2m(p) in the invariant mass spectrum of pp pairs from radiative J/psi--gammapp decays. No similar structure is seen in J/psi--pi(0)pp decays. The results are based on an analysis of a 58 x 10(6) event sample of J/psi decays accumulated with the BESII detector at the Beijing electron-positron collider. The enhancement can be fit with either an S- or P-wave Breit-Wigner resonance function. In the case of the S-wave fit, the peak mass is below 2m(p) at M=1859(+3)(-10) (stat)+5-25(syst) MeV/c(2) and the total width is Gamma30 MeV/c(2) at the 90% confidence level. These mass and width values are not consistent with the properties of any known particle.

Abstract: We report measurements of branching fractions for psi(2S) decays into omega pi pi, b1 pi,omega f2(1270),omega KK, omega p pbar, phi pi pi, phi f0(980),phi KK, and an upper limit for phi p pbar final states based on a data sample of 4 X 10^6 psi(2S) events collected with the BESI detector at the Beijing Electron-Positron Collider. The branching fractions for b1 pi and omega f2(1270) update previous BES results, while those for other decay modes are first measurements. The ratios of psi(2S)and J/psi branching fractions are smaller than what is expected from the 12% rule by a factor of five for omega f2(1270),by a factor of two for omega pi pi, omega p pbar, and phi KK, while for other studied channels the ratios are consistent with expectation within errors., 9 pages,12 figures and 1 table

Abstract: We report values of $R\phantom{\rule{0ex}{0ex}}=\phantom{\rule{0ex}{0ex}}\ensuremath{\sigma}({e}^{+}{e}^{\ensuremath{-}}\ensuremath{\rightarrow}\mathrm{hadrons})/\ensuremath{\sigma}({e}^{+}{e}^{\ensuremath{-}}\ensuremath{\rightarrow}{\ensuremath{\mu}}^{+}{\ensuremath{\mu}}^{\ensuremath{-}})$ for 85 center-of-mass energies between 2 and $5\mathrm{GeV}$ measured with the upgraded Beijing Spectrometer at the Beijing Electron-Positron Collider.

Abstract: The branching fraction of the psi(2S) decay into tau(+) tau(-) has been measured for the first time using the BES detector at the Beijing Electron-Positron Collider. The result is B-tautau =(2.71+/-0.43+/-0.55) x 10(-3), where the first error is statistical and the second is systematic. This value, along with those for the branching fractions into e(+)c(-) and mu(+)mu(-) of this resonance, satisfy well the relation predicted by the sequential lepton hypothesis. Combining all these values with the leptonic width of the resonance, the total width of the psi(2S) is determined to be (252+/-37) keV.

410. [Diagnosis of bovine spongiform encephalopathy and scrapie by western blot]

Abstract: The rabbits were immuned with bovine prion protein (BoPrPC) which was expressed in E. coli and anti-PrPC antibody (T1) was obtained. According to pathological prion protein (PrPSC) was resistant to protease treatment, extracts of brain tissue were digested with proteinase K and detected by western blot with T1 antibody. The results showed that protease-resistant pathological PrPSC was existed in golden hamster brain tissue which was inoculated with scrapie strain 263 K, but no protein existed in normal golden hamster brain homogenates which was detected with T1 antibody. Several bovines and sheep from Beijing were used for diagnosis of Bovine spongiform encephalopathy (BSE) and scrapie, their brain tissue were freshly collected and homogenated. The homogenates were separated on SDS-PAGE and detected by western blot with T1 antibody. The results indicated no protease-resistant protein(PrPSC) existed, this suggested they were not infected by BSE and scrapie. The same results were obtained with 1A8 antibody from England. These results indicated we could detect BSE and scrapie with T1 antibody.

Abstract: Radiative decays of the radially excited charmonium resonance, \psi(2S), into \pi\pi, K Kbar and \eta\eta final states have been measured in a sample of 3.96 * 10^6 \psi(2S) events collected by the BES collaboration. The branching ratios B(\psi(2S) -> \gamma f_{2}(1270)) = (2.27 +- 0.26 +- 0.39) * 10^{-4} and B(\psi(2S) -> \gamma f_0(1710)) * B(f_0(1710) -> K^+ K^-) = (5.59 +- 1.12 +- 0.93) * 10^{-5} are obtained. When compared to the corresponding radiative J/\psi decays, the observed \psi(2S) radiative decay rates into \gamma f_2(1270) and \gamma f_0(1710) are consistent with the 15% rule., Comment: 7 pages, 5 figures

Abstract: Data sets were collected with the BESIII detector at the BEPC II collider at the center-of-mass energy of root s=3.650 GeV during May 2009 and at root s=3.773 GeV from January 2010 to May 2011. By analyzing the large angle Bhabha scattering events, the integrated luminosities of the two data sets are measured to be (44.49 +/- 0.02 +/- 0.44) pb(-1) and (2916.94 +/- 0.18 +/- 29.17) pb(-1), respectively, where the first error is statistical and the second error is systematic.

Abstract: In a sample of 7.8 million J/{psi} decays collected in the Beijing Spectrometer, the process J/{psi}{yields}{gamma}{eta}{sub c} is observed for five different {eta}{sub c} decay channels: K{sup +}K{sup -}{pi}{sup +}{pi}{sup -}, {pi}{sup +}{pi}{sup -}{pi}{sup +}{pi}{sup -}, K{sup {+-}}K{sub S}{sup 0}{pi}{sup {+-}} (with K{sub S}{sup 0}{yields}{pi}{sup +}{pi}{sup -}), {phi}{phi} (with {phi}{yields}K{sup +}K{sup -}) and K{sup +}K{sup -}{pi}{sup 0}. From these signals, we determine the mass of {eta}{sub c} to be 2976.6{+-}2.9{+-}1.3 MeV. Combining this result with a previously reported result from a similar study using {psi}(2S){yields}{gamma}{eta}{sub c} detected in the same spectrometer gives m{sub {eta}{sub c}}=2976.3{+-}2.3{+-}1.2 MeV. For the combined samples, we obtain {gamma}{sub {eta}{sub c}}=11.0{+-}8.1{+-}4.1 MeV. (c) 2000 The American Physical Society.

Abstract: A sample of 3.95M $\psi(2S)$ decays registered in the BES detector are used to study final states containing pairs of octet and decuplet baryons. We report branching fractions for $\psi(2S)\to p\bar{p}$, $\Lambda\bar{\Lambda}$, $\Sigma^0\bar{\Sigma}{}^0$, $\Xi^-\bar{\Xi}{}^+$, $\Delta^{++}\bar{\Delta}{}^{--}$, $\Sigma^+(1385)\bar{\Sigma}{}^-(1385)$, $\Xi^0(1530)\bar{\Xi}{}^0(1530)$, and $\Omega^-\bar{\Omega}{}^+$. The data were recorded by the Beijing Spectrometer (BES) at BEPC. A recoil charge method is applied to charm threshold data to determine the charge of the D meson in the recoil from (Formula presented) reconstructed (Formula presented) (Formula presented) mesons. The branching fractions (Formula presented) and (Formula presented) are determined from 10 events with a reconstructed D and a recoiling (Formula presented) In addition, a 90% C.L. upper limit of (Formula presented) is determined from a search for semileptonic decays of the (Formula presented) © 2000 The American Physical Society.

The angular distributions are compared with the general decay amplitude analysis of Cahn. We find that the dipion system requires some D wave amplitude, as well as S wave. On the other hand, the (Formula presented) relative angular momentum is consistent with being pure S wave. The decay distributions have been fit to heavy quarkonium models, including the Novikov-Shifman model. This model, which is written in terms of the parameter (Formula presented) predicts that D wave pions should be present. We determine (Formula presented) based on the joint (Formula presented) distribution. The fraction of D wave amplitude as a function of (Formula presented) is found to decrease with increasing (Formula presented) in agreement with the model. We have also fit the Mannel-Yan model, which is another model that allows D wave pions. © 2000 The American Physical Society.

Abstract: The cross section for charmed meson production at $\sqrt{s} = 4.03 $ and 4.14 GeV has been measured with the Beijing Spectrometer. The measurement was made using 22.3 $pb^{-1}$ of $e^+e^-$ data collected at 4.03 GeV and 1.5 $pb^{-1}$ of $e^+e^-$ data collected at 4.14 GeV. Inclusive observed cross sections for the production of charged and neutral D mesons and momentum spectra are presented. Observed cross sections were radiatively corrected to obtain tree level cross sections. Measurements of the total hadronic cross section are obtained from the charmed meson cross section and an extrapolation of results from below the charm threshold., Comment: 11 pages, 13 figures. Abstract: In this paper, we present the overall design of the Agassiz compiler [1]. The Agassiz compiler is an integrated compiler targeting the concurrent multithreaded architectures [12,13]. These architectures can exploit both looplevel and instruction-level parallelism for general-purpose applications (such as those in SPEC benchmarks). They also support various kinds of control and data speculation, runtime data dependence checking, and fast synchronization and communication mechanisms. The Agassiz compiler has a loop-level parallelizing compiler as its front-end and an instruction-level optimizing compiler as its back-end to support such architectures. In this paper, we focus on the IR design of the Agassiz compiler and describe how we support the front-end analyses, various optimization techniques, and source-to-source translation.

420. Intervention against smoking among boys in urban junior middle schools in China

Abstract: We conducted a study between April and October 1996 on the smoking behaviour of 3300 boys, selected by random cluster sampling, in junior middle schools in four cities in China. We divided the boys randomly into three groups: general intervention, high-intensity intervention and controls. The study consisted of three sessions of investigation, comprising individual interviews and small group discussions, and two stages of intervention. The procedure of practice—summary—re-practice—re-summary was adopted in order to find an effective intervention method. The data were analysed with Epi-Info and SAS software, and effectiveness of the intervention was evaluated by matched analysis.

Abstract: Hadronic decays of the P-wave spin-triplet charmonium states \chi_cJ (J=0,1,2) are studied using a sample of \psi(2S) decays collected by the BES detector operating at the BEPC storage ring. Branching fractions for the decays \chi_c1 going to K_s^0 K^+ \pi^- + c.c., \chi_c0 going to K_s^0 K_s^0, \chi_c2 going to K_s^0 K_s^0, \chi_c0 going to \phi \phi, \chi_c2 going to \phi \phi and \chi_cJ going to K^+ K^- K^+ K^- are measured for the first time, and those for \chi_cJ going to \pi^+ \pi^- \pi^+ \pi^-, $ \chi_cJ going to \pi^+ \pi^- K^+ K^-, \chi_cJ going to \pi^+ \pi^- p \bar{p} and \chi_cJ going to 3(\pi^+ \pi^-) are measured with improved precision. In addition, we determine the masses of the \chi_c0 and \eta_c to be M_{\chi_{c0}}=3414.1 \pm 0.6(stat) \pm 0.8 (sys) MeV and M_{\eta_c}=2975.8 \pm 3.9(stat) \pm 1.2 (sys) MeV., Comment: 24 pages, 12 figures, 6 tables, use revtex, submitted to Phys. Abstract: A comparison of the rates for {psi}(2S){r_arrow}{pi}{sup +}{pi}{sup {minus}}J/{psi}, J/{psi}{r_arrow}l{sup +}l{sup {minus}} and J/{psi}{r_arrow} anything is used to determine the J/{psi} leptonic branching fractions. The results are B(J/{psi}{r_arrow}e{sup +}e{sup {minus}})=(5.90{plus_minus}0.05{plus_minus}0.10){percent} and B(J/{psi}{r_arrow}{mu}{sup +}{mu}{sup {minus}})=(5.84{plus_minus}0.06{plus_minus}0.10){percent}, where the first error is statistical and the second is systematic. Assuming lepton universality, the leptonic branching fraction of the J/{psi} is B(J/{psi}{r_arrow}l{sup +}l{sup {minus}})=(5.87{plus_minus}0.04{plus_minus}0.09){percent} per species. Abstract: We report the first measurements of the branching fractions: $B(\psi(2S) -> \gamma \eta') = (1.54 \pm 0.31 \pm 0.23) x 10^{-4}$ and $B(\psi(2S) -> \gamma \eta) = (0.53 \pm 0.31 \pm 0.08) x 10^{-4}$. The $\psi(2S)$ to $\gamma \eta'$ result is consistent with expectations of a model that considers the possibility of $\eta' - \eta$ mixing. The ratio of the $\psi(2S)$ to $\gamma \eta'$ and $\psi(2S)$ to $\gamma \eta$ rates is used to determine the pseudoscalar octet-singlet mixing angle.

Abstract: The human p-glycoprotein (P-gp)/mdr1-gene product is an integral plasma membrane protein whose overexpression is associated with chemotherapeutic drug resistance. In the present study, we scanned the amino acid sequence of p-gp for clues which may point to additional functions of this important protein. This bioinformatics-based approach yielded two new and surprising results. P-gp contains structural information compatible with a nuclear translocation of this protein and with a complex formation of P-gp with the insulin-de-grading enzyme (IDE). These interesting data suggest that P-gp may also directly act at the level of the cell nucleus, possibly influencing nuclear events such as cell cycle progression, and additionally affect the intracellular turnover of growth factors such as insulin. As such, these are the first hints towards a common mechanism of P-gp-dependent and growth factor-mediated drug resistance of cancer cells.

Abstract: Analysis of functional inorganic ceramics necessitates techniques enabling a detailed knowledge of thermal, mechanical, and — if applied for electrical engineering — electronic features. Due to the typical size of material-relevant structures the spatial resolution has to be clearly beyond a micrometer, in difficult cases even in the lower nanometer region. Whereas conventional acoustic microscopes lack sufficient resolution, so-called scanning near-field acoustic microscopes can overcome the situation. In general, any microscope system can be understood in this manner that uses the impact or generation of sound in or at the direct vicinity of the sample surface with an interaction volume being much smaller in size than the wavelength of the acoustic signal used for the detection of the material properties. Techniques in this respect are photo, electron1, and ion acoustic microscopes as well as just recently probe acoustic microscopes2.

Abstract: The mass of the \ensuremath{\tau} lepton has been measured at the Beijing Electron-Positron Collider using the Beijing Spectrometer. A search near threshold for ${\mathit{e}}^{+}$${\mathit{e}}^{\mathrm{\ensuremath{-}}}$\ensuremath{\rightarrow}${\mathrm{\ensuremath{\tau}}}^{+}$${\mathrm{\ensuremath{\tau}}}^{\mathrm{\ensuremath{-}}}$ was performed. Candidate events were identified by requiring that one \ensuremath{\tau} decay via \ensuremath{\tau}\ensuremath{\rightarrow}e\ensuremath{\nu}\ensuremath{\nu}\ifmmode\bar\else\textasciimacron\fi{}, and the other via \ensuremath{\tau}\ensuremath{\rightarrow}\ensuremath{\mu}\ensuremath{\nu}\ensuremath{\nu}\ifmmode\bar\else\textasciimacron\fi{}. The mass value, obtained from a fit to the energy dependence of the ${\mathrm{\ensuremath{\tau}}}^{+}$${\mathrm{\ensuremath{\tau}}}^{\mathrm{\ensuremath{-}}}$ cross section, is ${\mathit{m}}_{\mathrm{\ensuremath{\tau}}}$=1776.${9}_{\mathrm{\ensuremath{-}}0.5}^{+0.4}$\ifmmode\pm\else\textpm\fi{}0.2 MeV.

Abstract: Recombinant A17 Lys human insulin precursor expressed in yeast cells was isolated from the culture medium. After purification, the precursor was converted into A17 Lys human insulin. A17 Lys human insulin can be crystallized but has much lower receptor-binding and biological activities than porcine or human insulin where A17 is Glu. It is proposed that the A17 Glu residue may be involved in the receptor-binding or the active site of human insulin.

Abstract: The Beijing Spectrometer (BES) experiment has observed purely leptonic decays of the D_s meson in the reaction e^+e^-→D_s^+D_s^- at a c.m. energy of 4.03 GeV. Three events are observed in which one D_s decays hadronically to φπ, K̅ ^(*0)K, or K̅^0K, and the other decays leptonically to μν_μ or τν_τ. With the assumption of μ-τ universality, values of the branching fraction, B(D_s→μν_μ) = (1.5_(-0.6-0.2)^(+1.3+0.3))%, and the D_s pseudoscalar decay constant, f_D_s = (4.3_(-1.3-0.4)^(+1.5+0.4))×10^2 MeV, are obtained.

Abstract: In laser-induced breakdown spectroscopy (LIBS), a pair of aluminum-plate walls were used to spatially confine the plasmas produced in air by a first laser pulse (KrF excimer laser) from chromium (Cr) targets with a second laser pulse (Nd:YAG laser at 532 nm, 360 mJ/pulse) introduced parallel to the sample surface to re-excite the plasmas. Optical emission enhancement was achieved by combing the spatial confinement and dual-pulse LIBS (DP-LIBS), and then optimized by adjusting the distance between the two walls and the interpulse delay time between both laser pulses. A significant enhancement factor of 168.6 for the emission intensity of the Cr lines was obtained at an excimer laser fluence of 5.6 J/cm(2) using the combined spatial confinement and DP-LIBS, as compared with an enhancement factor of 106.1 was obtained with DP-LIBS only. The enhancement mechanisms based on shock wave theory and reheating in DP-LIBS are discussed.

Abstract: To enhance optical emission in laser-induced breakdown spectroscopy, both a pair of permanent magnets and an aluminum hemispherical cavity (diameter: 11.1 mm) were used simultaneously to magnetically and spatially confine plasmas produced by a KrF excimer laser in air from pure metal and alloyed samples. High enhancement factors of about 22 and 24 in the emission intensity of Co and Cr lines were acquired at a laser fluence of 6.2 J/cm2 using the combined confinement, while enhancement factors of only about 11 and 12 were obtained just with a cavity. The mechanism of enhanced optical emission by combined confinement, including shock wave in the presence of a magnetic field, is discussed. The Si plasmas, however, were not influenced by the presence of magnets as Si is hard to ablate and ionize and hence has less free electrons and positive ions. Images of the laser-induced Cr and Si plasmas show the difference between pure metallic and semiconductor materials in the presence of both a cavity and magnets.

Abstract: An aluminum hemispherical cavity (diameter: 11.1 mm) was used to confine plasmas produced by a KrF excimer laser in air from a steel target with a low concentration manganese in laser-induced breakdown spectroscopy. A significant enhancement (factor >12) in the emission intensity of Mn lines was observed at a laser fluence of 7.8 J/cm2 when the plasma was confined by the hemispherical cavity, leading to an increase in plasma temperature about 3600 K. The maximum emission enhancement increased with increasing laser fluence. The spatial confinement mechanism was discussed using shock wave theory.

Abstract: Codonopsis pilosula was used as an adjuvant in 76 cancer patients during radiotherapy and its protective effect on hematopoietic and immunologic function was studied.(1) No influence on Hb and WBC of the patients with radiotherapy. (2) It could reduce the immunosuppressive effect of radiotherapy on delayed hypersensitive reaction, the lymphocyte response to PHA and IL-2. (3) No difference between treated and control groups in most humoral immune indices such as IgG, IgA and C3, but had slight increase in IgM in treated patients, while significant decrease in control.

433. Choledochoscopy in management of retained biliary stones and recurrent lesions

Abstract: Postoperative choledochofiberscopy was performed in 188 patients with retained biliary stones and recurrent lesions. The following entrances to the biliary tract for choledochoscopy were used: the T-tube tract (129 patients), an afferent jejunal limb of a choledochojejunostomy (43), the jejunostomy tube tract of an efferent limb (12), an U-tube tract (2), and a ductal fistula after segmental liver resection (2). 380 choledochoscopic sessions were carried out, 2 sessions on the average for each patient. The overall success rate of stone removal was 90.5%. No mortality was related to this procedure. Eleven patients developed fever and chills after manipulations but all responded to antibiotics. Two patients had perforation of the T-tube tract during the removal of stones and were reoperated on for abdominal drainage. They recovered eventually. Stone extraction with a flexible choledochoscope is a proven procedure. For residual intrahepatic stones, however, a satisfactory entrance into the biliary tree should be provided for subsequent stone removals. We believe that the jejunostomy tube tract of an efferent limb of an afferent jejunal limb of a choledochojejunostomy is a useful entrance for choledochoscopy because it is permanent in meeting therapeutic demands.

Abstract: The brazing of TiC cermet to cast iron was carried out at 1223 K for 5 – 30 min using Ag – Cu – Zn filler metal. The formation phases, interface structures and shear strengths of the joints were investigated. The experiment result and analysis identify that three new phases, namely Cu base solid solution, Ag base solid solution and (Fe, Ni) have formed during the brazing of TiC cermet to iron. The interface structure of the joints can be expressed as TiC cermet/Cu base solid solution/Ag base solid solution + a little Cu base solid solution/Cu base solid solution + (Fe, Ni)/cast iron. The highest shear strength of the joints is 292.0 MPa, obtained with a brazing time of 20 min. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Abstract: In a sample of 58 million $J/\psi$ events collected with the BES II detector, the process J/$\psi\to\gamma\eta_c$ is observed in five decay channels: $\eta_c \to K^+K^-\pi^+\pi^-$, $\pi^+\pi^-\pi^+\pi^-$, $K^\pm K^0_S \pi^\mp$ (with $K^0_S\to\pi^+\pi^-$), $\phi\phi$ (with $\phi\to K^+K^-$) and $p\bar{p}$. From these signals, we determine $Br(J/\psi\to\gamma\eta_c)\times Br(\eta_c\to K^+K^-\pi^+\pi^-)$ $=(1.5\pm0.2\pm0.2)\times10^{-4}$, $Br(J/\psi\to\gamma\eta_c)\times Br(\eta_c\to \pi^+\pi^-\pi^+\pi^-)$ $=(1.3\pm0.2\pm0.4)\times10^{-4}$, $Br(J/\psi\to\gamma\eta_c)\times Br(\eta_c\to K^\pm K_{S}^{0}\pi^\mp)$ $=(2.2\pm0.3\pm0.5)\times10^{-4}$, $Br(J/\psi\to\gamma\eta_c)\times Br(\eta_c\to \phi\phi)$ $=(3.3\pm0.6\pm0.6)\times10^{-5}$ and $Br(J/\psi\to\gamma\eta_c)\times Br(\eta_c\to p\bar{p})$ $=(1.9\pm0.3\pm0.3)\times10^{-5}$., Comment: 8 pages, 1 figures and 4 table. Abstract: The decay J/ψ→ωpp is studied using a 5.8×107 J/ψ event sample accumulated with the BES II detector at the Beijing Electron–Positron Collider. The decay branching fraction is measured to be B(J/ψ→ωpp)=(9.8±0.3±1.4)×10-4. No significant enhancement near the pp mass threshold is observed, and an upper limit of B(J/ψ→ωX(1860))B(X(1860)→pp)

Abstract: Using 5.8 × 10 7 J / ψ events collected in the BESII detector, the radiative decay J / ψ → γ ϕ ϕ → γ K + K − K S 0 K L 0 is studied. The ϕϕ invariant mass distribution exhibits a near-threshold enhancement that peaks around 2.24 GeV / c 2 . A partial wave analysis shows that the structure is dominated by a 0 − + state ( η ( 2225 ) ) with a mass of 2.24 −0.02 +0.03 −0.02 +0.03 GeV / c 2 and a width of 0.19 ± 0.03 −0.04 +0.06 GeV / c 2 . The product branching fraction is: Br ( J / ψ → γ η ( 2225 ) ) ⋅ Br ( η ( 2225 ) → ϕ ϕ ) = ( 4.4 ± 0.4 ± 0.8 ) × 10 −4 .

Abstract: We search for ψ(3770)→π+π−η, K+K−η, $p\bar{p}\eta$ , ρ0π+π−η, K+K−π+π−η, $p\bar{p}\pi^{+}\pi^{-}\eta$ , $p\bar{p}K^{+}K^{-}\eta$ and $p\bar{p}K^{+}K^{-}\pi^{0}$ using data samples of 17.3 and 6.5 pb−1 integrated luminosities recorded at the center-of-mass energies of 3.773 and 3.65 GeV, respectively, by the BES-II detector operating at the BEPC collider. We obtain cross section measurements at both energies and upper limits on ψ(3770) decay branching fractions to the final states studied.

Abstract: Large-scale expansion of highly functional adult human mesenchymal stem cells (aMSCs) remains technologically challenging as aMSCs lose self renewal capacity and multipotency during traditional long-term culture and their quality/quantity declines with donor age and disease. Identification of culture conditions enabling prolonged expansion and rejuvenation would have dramatic impact in regenerative medicine. aMSC-derived decellularized extracellular matrix (ECM) has been shown to provide such microenvironment which promotes MSC self renewal and “stemness”. Since previous studies have demonstrated superior proliferation and osteogenic potential of human fetal MSCs (fMSCs), we hypothesize that their ECM may promote expansion of clinically relevant aMSCs. We demonstrated that aMSCs were more proliferative (∼1.6×) on fMSC-derived ECM than aMSC-derived ECMs and traditional tissue culture wares (TCPS). These aMSCs were smaller and more uniform in size (median ± interquartile range: 15.5 ± 4.1 μm versus 17.2 ± 5.0 μm and 15.5 ± 4.1 μm for aMSC ECM and TCPS respectively), exhibited the necessary biomarker signatures, and stained positive for osteogenic, adipogenic and chondrogenic expressions; indications that they maintained multipotency during culture. Furthermore, fMSC ECM improved the proliferation (∼2.2×), size (19.6 ± 11.9 μm vs 30.2 ± 14.5 μm) and differentiation potential in late-passaged aMSCs compared to TCPS. Abstract: In HL-2A, the characteristics of the edge plasma instabilities and their effects on the dynamical evolution of the pedestal in H-mode plasmas have been investigated. In the edge pedestal region with steep pressure gradient, a quasi-coherent mode (QCM) has been observed in density fluctuations with a frequency range of 50–100 kHz. It appears during the edge localized mode (ELM)-free period after the L–H transition and prior to the first ELM. A threshold in the pedestal density gradient has been identified for the excitation of this mode. The QCM can also be observed during inter-ELM periods. It is excited early in the inter-ELM period, and disappears when the ELM onset starts. The radial wave-number of the mode is estimated with two radially separated reflectometers. It shows that the mode is radially propagating inward. The poloidal wave number estimated with the Langmuir probes is kθ ~ 0.43 cm−1. The mode propagates poloidally in the electron diamagnetic direction in the plasma frame. The toroidal mode number, deduced from Mirnov signals, is n ~ 7. The corresponding poloidal mode number is m ~ 21 according to the local safety factor value. The analysis for the dynamical evolution of the pedestal during the ELM cycle clearly shows that the mode is excited before the ELM onset. During and after the ELM crash, the mode disappears. It suggests that the QCM is driven by the pedestal density gradient, and the mode in return regulates the pedestal density evolution. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Abstract: WOS: 000480609000001, Several intermediate states of the reaction channels e(+)e(-) -> pi(+)pi(-) D-0(D) over bar (0) and e(+)e(-) -> pi(+)pi-D+D- are studied using the data samples collected with the BESIII detector at center-of-mass energies above 4.08 GeV. For the first time in this final state, a psi(3770) signal is seen in the DD invariant mass spectrum, with a statistical significance of 5.2 sigma at root s = 4.42 GeV. There is also evidence for this resonance at root s = 4.26 and 4.36 GeV with statistical significance of 3.2 sigma and 3.3 sigma, respectively. In addition, the Born cross section of e(+)e(-) ->pi(+)pi(-)psi(3770) is measured. The proposed heavy-quark-spin-symmetry partner of the X(3872), the state X-2(4013), is also searched for in the D (D) over bar invariant mass spectra. No obvious signal is found. The upper limit of the Born cross section of the process e(+)e(-) -> rho X-0(2)(4013) combined with the branching fraction is measured. Also, the processes e(+)e(-) -> D-1(2420)(D) over bar c.c. are investigated. The neutral mode with D-1(2420)(0) -> D-0 pi(+)pi(-) is reported with statistical significance of 7.4 sigma at root s = 4.42 GeV for the first time, and evidence with statistical significance of 3.2 sigma and 3.3 sigma at root s = 4.36 and 4.60 GeV is seen, respectively. No evident signal for the process e(+)e(-) -> D-1(2420)(0)(D) over bar (0) + c.c., D-1(2420)(0) -> D*(+)pi(-) is reported. Abstract: WOS: 000480688800001, A partial-wave analysis of the decay J/psi -> K+ K- pi(0) has been made using (223.7 +/- 1.4) x 10(6) J/psi events collected with the BESIII detector in 2009. The analysis, which is performed within the isobar-model approach, reveals contributions from K-2* (1430)(+/-), K-2* (1980)(+/-) and K-4* (2045)(+/-) decaying to K-+/-pi(0). The two latter states are observed in J/psi decays for the first time. Two resonance signals decaying to K+ K- are also observed. These contributions cannot be reliably identified and their possible interpretations are discussed. The measured branching fraction B(J/psi -> K+ K- pi(0)) of (2.88 +/- 0.01 +/- 0.12) x 10(-3) is more precise than previous results. Branching fractions for the reported contributions are presented as well.
